Hi Nigel, Wow, this is quite a set of aftermarket parts. I watch Norwegian Modelling Bench from time to time. Kenneth does amazing work. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff
It really is Jeff... wait till you see what's coming later...
Would love to see a live stream with you and Kenneth.
If Kenneth wants to sort it, I shall be there!!
We should definitely make that happen 😊
Good luck painting those figures Nigel!😜!🔍!
Some will have green eyes, some brown and some blue. Some will be blonde, some ginger and some dark haired lol
I bought some 3D printed US Navy figures in 1/350 scale. They are tiny lol. Will be a right pain to paint.
Good god, what an amazing upgrade set!!! It’ll look awesome👍 Dread to think the cost😮😮 and the time it’ll take to fit 🤯🤯
Nigel, I believe you are correct about saying that one would not be able to do a "Battle of Midway" configuration. If my information is correct, CV-6 received her first 40mm guns just after Guadalcanal, and they were replacements for all but one of the quad 1.1" mounts.
Excellent review, Massive undertaking with that KA Set. I used them for 1/350 USS Kittyhawk increasing the part count by 6000+ . When you have a spare 2 years Nigel, make a start on it 🤣🤣 Cheers mate.
Exactly peter.. sometimes I see this stuff and think.. "I want that" oh dear!!
Nice review Nigel, I'm contemplating getting the equivalent set for the Hornet.
Go for it!
You must of ordered this the same time as myself as my 200th ka dx set and eduard parts arrived today for my mighty mo build
Hi Simon. I was amazed at how quick Hannants delivered this.. I have the pontos set for my Iowa.. We must hook up Simon.. I have a few little odds and ends you can have for your F-4 build.
Nigel, The SG radar antenna is for the 10-cm surface search radar. SG radar first operational installation was on the heavy cruiser USS Augusta, in April 1942. so it is unlikely that Enterprise would have had SG radar at Midway
(1 month later).
I believe she was in Pearl in May ‘42 Tron? Saying that I reckon the kit is designed to represent around late ‘42?
@@NigelsModellingBench - CV-6 returned to Pearl from the Doolittle raid on 25-APR-1942, and departed for the Battle of the Coral Sea, on or about 30-APR-1942. She then returned to Pearl on 26-May to prepare for Midway, and left Pearl again on 28-May. Given this time frame, I would be surprised if the 5 days at the end of April, 1942, would have been sufficient to install and verify the correct operation of an SG surface-search radar system, given all the other pre-sortie activity (e.g. refueling, replenishing stores, rearming, etc.) that must have had to occur during that 5 day period. I will try to do more research to learn when the SG was fitted.
@@NigelsModellingBench Further research would seem to indicate that the entire set of radar systems was upgraded, including install of the SG radar, when CV-6 went into the yard at Puget Sound in late July 1943.
Have you seen the model of Titanic's "Big Piece"? It's made by Maritime Models - it's only small but it looks really nice when made up. As it's 1:200 it might look good next to your Trumpeter Titanic!
No I'll check it out.
@@NigelsModellingBench It doesn't seem to be widely spoken about, or well known, there's only a few videos on youtube, one with the title "RMS Titanic 1:200 Photo Etch BIG PIECE"
I’ve got the Hasegawa detail set Nigel part no 40071 super rare now .
I’ll keep you in mind
I think you should gift it to me NOW!!!
Man the rails
Absolutely lovely set. Lots of part's. Nigel.
Very nice Nigel. But oh boy, at what cost? I think it is £310 at Hannants. For that and the price of the kit itself, I would have to take out a mortgage lol.
My thoughts exactly, though I didnt pay that much for it.. wait till you see what's coming later.... I blame Kenneth!!
cheers Nigel am still building the mogami its a nigthmere the instructions They dont look any better ,You think the price you pay they would make the instrucations so you could understand them.
Thanks for the upload Nigel, however it is set to 360, so the images are too muddy to make out. Cheers.
Click settings, select 1080p.
Sorry, it wasn't letting me earlier, clearly a technical issue on my end. Thanks again for the great video!@@NigelsModellingBench
Quick question, what happened to the first 15 episodes of the hellcat video’s? Would like to view from start.👍
There is a playlist Ian.
What about the SSMODEL 350304 set for the 1/350 Akagi? There is a seller on eBay that shows 5 in stock.
Thank you.. I shall look into this. It looks like it could fit the bill? Do you know anything about the quality?
Hi Nigel I think I may be able to help you with the Akagi detail up set from Hasegawa
Please email me at nigelsmodellingbench at gee mail dot com.

This is in addition to that lot
Hi Nigel: I was wondering if this would be of interest to all of your viewers as it is to me?? Would you ever put all of your completed models in a video? I know I love your work and a great many others would love to see them on display…. Let me know if that has ever been done by you or not…. Hey: don’t shoot the messenger! LOLOL 😄😄😄
Sorry, but no. They are all over the house and I really don't want to walk around the house showing the world my world. You see my finished builds here, and my unfinished builds also..
Good lord man, you are drinking water, not beer
It does happen now and again!!
