    I enjoy seeing how you do things! I am the second oldest in a family of 16 children who most of my life had other needy people living with our family too. For several years we had one bathroom for 23 people! My mom is absolutely amazing and I enjoy seeing other people who live close to how I grew up and how I would like to raise my young family.

    I love how you don’t try to sound and be like every single other TH-camr on here. Sometimes I have to turn videos off because everyone makes their voices sound the same and saying the same thing. Using the same obnoxious TH-cam music. Thanks for being real and natural! 😊

    I’m thinking while watching this, it would save time to cut the dough with a multipurpose scraper and serve square biscuits rather than punching out round biscuits. Roll dough once, divide dough, bake.

      Very good point! I actually freeze these for breakfast sandwiches too, so that would make them stack better too! Thank you! 👏

    I’ve been a firm believer in meal prepping and big batch cooking. Currently we’re just the two of us.. retired, 70+yo couple. Those practices still make life easier even though there’s no need to cook a meal every night. We are good with eating leftovers. I’m enjoying your channel and hope to hear your birth announcement real soon. Susan

    I also have a pantry that is full of all my go to recipe ingredients, as I don't own a car I have to prepare for winter days etc it's much easier to cook when you have the ingredients on hand, after so many years I can whip up dinner in 10mins prep and bung it in the oven. When I have my morning coffee I get the dough going and 1 hour later shape and after lunch in the oven, desserts I have a rotation of them, don't really need the recipes anymore. Sometimes I make a use what's in the fridge meal and they want it again but I really just threw leftovers together and it came out lol

    As a fellow homestead mom, how do you meal plan far in advance when it's a heavy harvest season? The end of the garden season is always a frantic bid to make and preserve whatever is going bad fastest.

    • @TheFromScratchFarmhouse
      @TheFromScratchFarmhouse  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Our meal plans are very seasonal, so they do account for using what’s in season, but also, we preserve a good amount of what we grow so I don’t always worry about using it before it goes bad. There are a lot of things we always use up as a side too. For example, we have cucumber and tomato salad several days each week during the summer. In the fall I’m doing a lot of cooked squash and roasted root veggies. This doesn’t change up my meal plan much since it’s just the side that I may be swapping. Hope that makes sense!

      I’m actually not in the kitchen that much. That’s the beauty of this system. 😉 Most days it’s just that one hour in the morning where I get a bunch done. In the summer that changes a bit with canning and other preserving projects, but we also don’t do school then so it works out.

    That spoon is wasting your time. And making extra mess. Right as you were talking about how to make more time and having a power hour in the kitchen, you were spooning 5-6-7-8-9 times into one jar…. Clearly as somebody who can their own food you have a funnel and you have a big big spoon. You didn’t make a good point there.

    I can't permit myself the luxury to abandon my 9 to 5 job far away, in order to stay home and to cook from the scratch. We will live on 1 salary then, which will be beyond the minimum salary per person. Today "stay at home mom" is not a life path choice anymore. It is a choice to starve and embrace poverty.

    • @TheFromScratchFarmhouse
      @TheFromScratchFarmhouse  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hm. Odd comment. I haven’t worked outside the home since my second child was born and we are definitely not starving. 👀 I know MANY thousands of women who have done the same without ever having to “embrace poverty.” Yes, in order to do this your spouse has to have a good paying job and you certainly have to live within your means doing things like cooking instead of take out, but still… that’s not poverty.

      @@TheFromScratchFarmhouse I find people don't want to give up certain things like a new car, trucks, boats etc vacations, coffee and take out meals, hair salons, nails and buying pre made food so that they can stay home and raise their own children instead of paying for child care and spending 2 hours a day as a family, I stayed home and gave up all the stuff until they were older, we had a good time and my kids remember all the fun we had not the stuff we bought or didn't buy, also we lived in a small house not a mansion and lived within our means. The thrift store was a great help with all the kids toys and clothes.

      We've lived on my husband's salary since my kids were born. We do a lot from scratch and live a fairly humble lifestyle, but we are not poverty stricken and we are comfortable. Growing up, my dad made less comparatively then my husband does, and we were still comfortable, but frugal. We didn't go on vacation, just took day trips etc but I never felt deprived. I loved my childhood and I loved having my mom home with us.
