    Honestly some of the best blood angels I've seen. The gold on the fist is fantastic! I'm a big fan of the weathered schemes and they are surprisingly quick to churn out in my experience

      Thank you!!!
      The weathered schemes just work so well for the hours heresy I think as it adds so much character to the models that you just don't get on the 'evy metal style of crisp edge highlights. And, as you mentioned it is far, far faster to do.

    Holy cow, I didn't think the red armor and the red eyes would look as good as they do. Great work!

      @AmnioticlyTanked  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right? I was a bit skeptical at first as well because every painting instinct I have says that eyes should contrast the color of the armor, not match it.
      But I was heavily inspired by the Astartes series on warhammer + for this squad and they have red glowing eyes, so figured I would give it a try. Glad I did as I think it really worked out.

      I think it looks a lot better than having the eyes in another colour.

    I think im going to steal some of these ideas for my Alpha legion army, the knife scraping is such a clever idea!

    • @AmnioticlyTanked

      Would be appropriate for the Alpha Legion! And thank you, I have been meaning to do a video on "highlighting" with a hobby knife for a while now so figured I would give it a try.

      @@AmnioticlyTanked I found your video because I'm planning few models in this scheme, but with Molotov Liquid Chrome and Schmincke AeroColor candy flame red (applied with brush lol). I plan to roughly follow Marco Frisoni Blood Angels "Angels of Death" tutorial. Shiny and chrome.
      On the side note, mainstream miniature painters rarely mention companies like Molotov, Golden, Schmincke, Montana or other professional art supply producers, shame.
      In my city, Copenhagen, a 400 ml can of professional graffiti Montana Gold series, low pressure, costs $6 dollars, while Citadel spray $18 dollars. And professional street painters won't even touch Citadel with 10 meter pole, it's not even close to Montana with quality. Pure madness.
      Graffiti spray is an amazing primer for plastic. For the same price you can buy 3 colors and spray base layer, 45% degrees and top zenithal angle in one priming session. If you paint an entire army, it really does make a difference.

      @@emceha I''ve actually been using Montana gold recently for some terrain projects and have been really enjoying them. For some reason I never though to use them for minis, but after looking at their website I might need to change that...
      There is a huge range of colors and I think you are right that you can get three colors, hit the mini with an oil wash, do some sponge chipping, and have an army done in next to no time.
      Saying that, I think it would make a fantastic video - so my question to you is, what chapter should I do?

      No problem! I love candy colored knight schemes. And that reminds me that Ill need to do a video on how I paint my Vyronii knights soon.

      You could pretty much take this exact same process and swap the reds for teals or blues/greens and have a fantastic alpha scheme!

  • @livanbard

    I'm doing metallic black DA. I found out you don't need a silver based coat to sell the effect if your chipping effect is point. People will automatic assume you use a metallic black or whatever.

    • @AmnioticlyTanked
      @AmnioticlyTanked  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! They are much more subdued that most you see and I think an army of these is going to look really good on the table top.

    • @YOOT_JJ
      @YOOT_JJ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AmnioticlyTanked Absolutely, these look fantastic! Bright red does not do the 9th justice, and I think these are gonna be a standout on the table because of how different (and better) they look.

    Great stuff as per usual, Phil! Loved the touch of showing your workspace. Do you have any thoughts as to how doable this is without an airbrush? I've been getting the impression that there is a lot of fellow heresy painters that are hesitant to take the airbrush leap for one reason or another.

    • @AmnioticlyTanked
      @AmnioticlyTanked  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!
      I've been meaning to do a video on "candy colors" with out an airbrush, but I absolutely think its possible with out an airbrush. I still need to experiment, but I would try to rattle can a dark > light silver and then apply the contrast/transparent paint over that.
      The other alternative is to use some sponge chipping to build up the metallic volumes before applying the contrast paint.

  • @chris.replay

    What gloss varnish are you using? I've tried a couple and non of them really go through my airbrush very well

    • @AmnioticlyTanked
      @AmnioticlyTanked  ปีที่แล้ว

      Vallejo gloss varnish thinned down 50:50 with vallejo thinner.

    I really want to see white scars like this but that would be an immense pain to do

    • @AmnioticlyTanked
      @AmnioticlyTanked  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I was actually thinking about this the other day, as it might be fun to paint a marine from each legion in metallic colors, and I was thinking that a blue + silver base coat with a bright silver highlight could work. Could then do a very thin layer of white ink to really make it look white as well?
