    Nice one, one thing I noticed is he didn't explain that the removal of the cassette is actually a lot more difficult than it appears here (pre-loosened) due to needing to apply opposite rotational force on the sprocket whilst loosening lockring, ideally with a chain whip, an old chain or other tool.

    Should have headed over to the Spinergy booth to see glass spokes, well polymer fibers in glass phase. They also erroneously claim they don't stretch, but clearly they do, as you say stretch is needed to tension a wheel. Solid silica glass would make a poor spoke as any bending would easily break it, but it's still an elastic material. Could use it as fibers, but there are better choices, such as Spinergy's.

    • @parktool
      @parktool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are different grades of spokes that may help you out. A good builder with a proper rim and hub will be able to build you a long lasting wheel. A robust rim will help the spokes out quite a bit.

    • @parktool
      @parktool  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Double check those bent teeth. There are "hyperglide" and similar designs that use teeth that first appear "bent", but are timed to pick up the chain. If there are several even spaced out, it may be by design.

    • @alecnolastname4362
      @alecnolastname4362 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alec nolastname Straightening things is the only reason I have adjustable wrenches! I don’t like using them as wrenches. Vice grips may do but a crescent wrench works better as they have parallel jaws. But as Park Tool says, make sure they’re not supposed to be offset, and also make sure your cable is adjusted correctly.

    • @parktool
      @parktool  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, it is both of those issues. Its kinda chicken and the egg type thing but in this case the spoke breaking came first then the bend in the wheel was introduced leading to shaking while riding without your hands. Repair the spoke and bring the wheel back to true and your woes will be resolved.
