    I have the Roscoe 7 here in Canada. Given the price of bikes in 2023, it is probably the best option for someone who doesn't want to spend too much.

    You are undecided if you should go with the Roscoe 7 or 8 bc of the 35 mm fork? So the 7 has a better fork? What is wrong with the 35 mm fork? I'm asking bc I'm completely ignorant on this subject. I missed the Specialized bike sale when they sold the Fuse Comp for 1.5k

    • @MTBs
      @MTBs  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Basically because of the fork which is the most important thing on a bike imo. The Recon is only 32 mm which I think will be too flexy on a bike of this caliber. It's a XC fork. Depends on where you intend to ride of course.
      I also favor Deore over NX and half a kilo of lower weight on the 8.

    The Roscoe 8 has a better hub with more engagement, the same as the 9. The 7 does not have that hub.

  • @johnnydoe66
    @johnnydoe66 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Because of the bike supply issues in 2020, I ended up with the Roscoe 8 and believe it or not, I am still happy with my purchase. My only complaint will be whenever I decide to upgrade the wheelset due to the Boost 141 QR Trek decided to put on that frame. I wanted to originally buy the 2020 Fuse Expert, but because of budget constraints and Specialize's need to overprice their bikes compared to other brands, it was a no go.
    I have made several upgrades over the last 20 months of ownership, wider 780mm bar, shorter 40mm stem, and Rockshox Revelation 120mm fork (It was a really good deal)

    Nice vid. I've been considering a Fuse Expert and Stumpy Comp carbon. As you mentioned, the Stumpy isn't that much more than the Fuse so it's probably worth it to pay a lil more. The Fuse is an awesome looking hardtail though. If I got the Fuse, I'd put on some red Ergon grips and some other red parts on the bike to make it pop.

    I was looking at exactly this sort of bike in late 2020. The 2021 Fuse was overpriced and 7 month backlog and the Trek was still the old model back then. I settled on a Norco Fluid HT and installed a nice 130mm fork to replace the standard 120mm. With 130mm fork, the Norco's geometry is now identical to the Fuse in 95% of all measurements. I'm happy.

    Great Review! My partner owns a 2020 Trek Roscoe 7. Great bike for price to take on rugged terrain like green and blue trails. But always thought if it had 29 wheels and the head angle was slacker it would be a great alternative to a the entry level Trek Fuel Ex 5 full suspension. But now with the 2022 Roscoes with 29 wheel, 65 degree head angle and 13kg weight, thats nearly as good as my 2019 Trek Slash 8 Enduro! Will definitely upgrade her Roscoe now. Thanks for the review

      Yes, a great bike but still a trail bike and not as "enduro" as the Slash (which is a stunning bike BTW). You might want to have a look at the new Top Fuel too which has also gotten a lot more capable from 2022.

    Picked up a poverty spec Fuse for $1100 in the US. 1x9, spring fork, 30.9 dropper in a 34.9 seat tube, no adjustable rear axle. With a GX groupset, BB, XD freehub, 150mm dropper, I'm still under $2k for a very nice spec build. Had a 140mm Recon fork laying around. Otherwise, it would be another $300 for the fork. Still a far cry from the exorbitant Covid prices.

    Vore det sjukt att köpa en TREK R9 som första cykel, för att slippa behöva uppgradera den öht? För om du köper en 7a - hur lång tid skulle det tänkas ta innan man uppgraderat till en 9a och då lika gärna hade kunnat köpa en 9a direkt?

    • @MTBs
      @MTBs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nja, en tumregel är ju att köpa rätt cykel från början eftersom det alltid/oftast blir dyrare att uppgradera i efterhand. Problemet är väl att du kanske inte från början vet om du skulle uppgraderat?
      Men om det är din första cykel så är det nog mer troligt att du byter till en FS snarare än att du lägger en förmögenhet på att uppgradera en HT.

    • @AIK.1891
      @AIK.1891 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MTBs Så är det såklart, onödigt att lägga pengar på För bra saker som man inte kan nyttja. Men om man vill ha något som man både kan köra xc, lite pump track, och inte för blodiga trails, så känns en HT rätt. En FS kanske rent av blir dålig om man ska ut och köra lite xc som fysträning?
      Sen är ju typ alla "guider" här på TH-cam antingen fr USA eller GB och de cyklarna finns ju ofta inte på svenska marknaden. Det vore nice med typ en lista med de bästa/vettigaste HT's för den svenska marknaden. Typ - hur mycket "bör" man lägga för att få en vettig HT? Hur mycket ska man inte lägga och hur lite ska man inte lägga, så man inte köper skit?
      Skulle du kunna tipsa om tre vettiga HT som man kan behålla flera år framöver, som varken behövs uppgraderas redan år 2 eller som inte är för mycket, för dyra etc..?

      Hello igen.
      Har inte kört så många ht att jag känner att jag kan rekommendera de 3 bästa. Tror du får bättre svar på happyride.se. Många verkar gilla Orbea Laufey. Väljer du H10 så lär du inte behöva uppgradera ngt mer.

Unfortunately the bike shops are far enough away that I am unable to test ride. Would you say the size difference between the two is significant enough to wait for the large? The M/L is only 150mm shorter reach.

      Sorry only 15mm shorter reach**

      @@bulkleyoutdoors Again, it is about personal preference I would say. It is not unridable and you can adjust saddle and get a longer stem too if needed.
      At the same time you are spot on a size L according to Trek and it would be a shame to buy a bike that's too short then and regret it later? Sorry, but I cannot advice you to go with the smaller size...

      @@MTBs that works for me! I agree, it is a lot of money to spend on something if there is any chance I will regret it, I will take all the advice I can get. Thank you.

    I reckon you should include the Big Trail range in this comparison. For Value, the Merida knocks both of these out of the park, and the frame is solid and compliant. - who do you think makes the Fuse frame? it's Merida :)

    • @MTBs
      @MTBs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Marc!
      Yes I know that Merida owns Specialized, that's why you cannot find Merida in North America. Would love to test the Big Trail, but it is very difficult for me as a small TH-camr to get a hold of bikes to test.

    Would you consider a 2022 giant fathom 2 27.5 or a 2022 giant stance 27.5 for a 60% off road and 40% street use in total?

    Roscoe 6 2022, do you mean the X-Caliber 6? B) Lots of guys have no idea Roscoe comes from a former XC bike.

      Hi there!
      No, I mean that the Roscoe 6 has the old frame carried over from the previous model of the Roscoe.

    It went together easily in less than an hour. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

      These bikes are sold in bike shops and should come fully assembled and adjusted. But if you should buy a bike online I made a video about assembly here: th-cam.com/video/_za0EX2L8Xc/w-d-xo.html
      Tools for assembly is usually only a set of allen keys and a couple of torx keys too which usually is found in basic allen key sets for bikes. Pretty easy t b h.

    All of the RockShox forks here are awful for both brands, the 35 Gold is the same MSRP as the Bomber Z2 but not even in the same league. A Roscoe 7 with a plan to upgrade the fork is the best value.

    • @MTBs
      @MTBs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have to agree, they are budget forks. Don't think they are too awful though, just budget.

    • @buzzikea
      @buzzikea 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      LOL for 99 percent of people out there these forks are more than enough, I am sure you yourself would not even ride that fork to its full potential. Everyone these days wants the best without even understanding why they need this. Comments like yours make me think of you as a bad bad rider who simply sucks and complains every time he goes out on a trail. LMAO. You are probably one of those with a 5k double suspension bike I pass by on a 2k hardtail on a double black diamond with a $300 awful RockShox fork.

    Maybe interms of Build quality i saw alot of Broken Trek Alloy Frame.
    Thats why in every bike big brand trek is my Least Favorite
    From
    Spez, Giant, Cannondale, Santa Cruz etc.. trek will always be my Last option

    It's greed running industry. They crank prices up because idiots pay them 🤷🏻‍♂️ Average rider can't fix a flat tire not to mention maintenance. Instead of looking for something on 2nd hand market they just go and buy new

    • @MTBs
      @MTBs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The 2nd hand market has also been crazy, but it seems as if the bike boom is over now and prices in general are coming down.
