I’m a big Honda fan had 4 CR 250s and about 7 CRFs over the years wish I’d of kept my 2000 CR it was a flying machine got it next to new from Albion as a teenager
The Rc has to be one of those 100k efforts....sans labor? Brilliant Sherlock sleuthing to find those parts. Global acquisitions must be an understatement. Cheers again Top build.
Doc I always look forward to your videos and the builds you are working on. As I’m watching, I feel the tension created to make these builds as accurate as possible. I personally have restored 7 motocross bikes over the years and I have empathy for you. There are days when I’ve called in every favor I’ve got, on the phone with friends in Japan with no luck sourcing a specific part. Strangely or miraculously or both, I’ve been able to complete my builds to my personal standards. Doc you are a rare soul with a passion for this “hobby” that’s second to none. God Bless.

Brilliant video Rob. This time 6 weeks it be all go. Cant wait to be back in the paddock seeing all your bike builds. I enjoy this as much as the racing 😊
Another excellent video Rob. It would be great to see a video in the future showcasing the workshop set ups with tool drawer configurations and special tools you have accumulated over the years etc. Might be a bit sad but I'm a bit of a tool nerd 😁
love it mate i love honda 2 stroke mx bikes ive got a cr 250 2001 and i love it when i was younger i had a cr 80 red rocket i loved that bike but sold it a few years back as it was way to small for me lol so sold it as there was no point keeping it put the money towards another mx bike
Thanks, Doc, another masterpiece your in depth Knowledge is incredible. Would Kurt Nicholls works Honda been very similar to this machine, and if so, wouldn't you have been tempted to go Castrol livery ? Thanks. can't wait to see Mike Laroc machine complete.
Yes Kurt’s was similar to this the only difference is he preferred the conventional forks, we didn’t go castrol and a riders number as there is too many people building bikes, putting a number on them and claiming them to be the real deal- this was built from the correct parts but parts all the same
For hard to impossible metal parts to find, (but can machine it/them), there is a great company in the USA called "Tormach", who make affordable CNC machines. I have been living off a 2007 PCNC1100 since I bought it new in 2007 for porting little 2-stroke cylinders. It will not be good for any kind of billet production, but with small cutters (no indexable cutters, too hard on the machine), it is a great prototype or one off machine to make parts. It is considered a "bench top" machine, but you can get a stand for it, and is about the size of a standard series 2 Bridgeport mill. So if you know how to program them and run it, you should be able to make many parts that you can't find. Not real efficient, but it does a great job, and it is a good company to do business with. I have nee running it for 16 years now, and my down time is probably just over a month, and parts are easy to replace. I keep the ways and ball screws oiled often when in use, (I use my coolant tank to catch and reuse the way oil, so I use a lot of oil), and i have not even adjusted the gibbs yet. I paid 12 grand for mine, fully loaded, but they did not have a tool changer when I bought mine. For one piece work, (and even my light production), changing tools by hand is just fine.
For the 94th year, it was a spaceship! Is this a two-chamber KYB fork? On the serial CR250, a two-chamber SHOWA fork appeared in 97 on the first model with an aluminum frame, and that fork did not work very well...
Nice idea. The exhaust note from those suzuki's was unreal, infact those motor's were unreal. Somebody with serious money out there fund the master to go for it.
If Honda made a smaller production run of the 83-85 Works RC250's (sans the electronic exhaust power valve?), how much would you think people would pay for them? Wouldn't those be great for vintage racing? I would love to have one.
How does the "traction control" work? I just use the clutch myself. :) My 2019 YZ 250 2-stroke has a power jet carb also, but I am not a fan of it. I would rather have a normal carb. Since it is the slowest 250 I ever had, I have no idea why it is suppose to be better. Have you ever sent parts with bearing diameters on them to anodizing, and the it blew the bearing diameters oversize?
Powerjet carbs - production 250GP bikes had them from the early 90s. Surprised it took so long for them to appear on production MXers, 'specially 125s. Maybe the conservative Japanese didn't trust the average prospective owner?
Doc, I hope this is alright sir. You burst my bubble sir. I sincerelly was trying to help with those magnesium carburators for the old works hondas. You blew me off bud. I dont know if you got angry becasue I used somebodys name, or his druggy ass got angry, which i doesnt bother me. Bit kinda got my feelings hurt. I dont think you remember me from back then. I was a young wild n crazy kid with a big mouth. But I can wrench has well has I can ride. Anyways sir, I am not some, old star struck tweaker dude like you know who. Ive been around this sport since 1978. At one time in the states I was dubbed the next big thing. Rode for suzuki, never agian and team green. Anyways I would not bullshit you sir. Your just a bit older than I am. Anyway. I didnt use any names this time, and I just wanted to let you know that shit, that really doesnt matter. Take care. You are an artist, and I can tell you give a shit, thats why I am baffled. Unless somebody said something that I know isnt true. Peace. You just might see me at one of these vtmx things you guys are doing. I am still super fast for two laps. lol.
Great prodution value for the video and of course the bike looks fantastic

The rc is gorgeous! Fantastic work man!
Thanks a lot!
Hi Rob, great work as usual , I’ve always wanted you to build me a Hakan Carlqvist 1983 No8 replica. Maybe one day 😊
That’s a good call is that!
DocWob makes exceedingly good cakes Doh! Bikes I mean.
I glad you like me recipes
Perfect and beautiful.

Haha fair enough, I do ask what people want to see!
Ok Wob?... You gonna tell us all with our tounges out how much that RC build was... Give us an idea mate! 😜
That would be telling but it is sold!
I would say 25-55k
Sans the bars being too far forward, (greatly hindering cornering), beautiful re-build.
Thanks

Classic!
I hope you're sending it over to Carson Brown so he can show us how it goes 🤘

incredible , how did you manage to get ahold of hrc parts ?!? wasn’t that stuff sacred ?

That’s a huge compliment!!!

It was waaaaayyyy before it’s time!
Can someone explain the difference between the cr250 and the rc250 and how the hell am I just now hearing of a rc250
RC 250 were the names of the factory Hondas
Swingarm&aluframe is Bormi made from Italy?
Are your toolbox’s fully shadowfoamed mm perfect? or are they like getting a tool out of a tombola ?
Depends which workshop you are in and how busy we are…so at the moment…

and they blew the bearing diameters oversize?
If you watch some of our other videos we discuss how we make sure we don’t blow bearing housing.
Hi is the bike still available?
No it’s off to it’s new owner soon
First off factory honda never ran green number plate backgrounds or a pipe like that and they used magnesium carbs.
The video states that certain parts are replaced as finding the originals were impossible
Powerjet carbs - production 250GP bikes had them from the early 90s. Surprised it took so long for them to appear on production MXers, 'specially 125s. Maybe the conservative Japanese didn't trust the average prospective owner?

I’m going blue book you down
I wanna see somebody make a fuel injected rm250
That’s not what we do here lol
What's the difference between a CR250
CR 250 was the public option, RC250 was named for the Factory bikes
@@docwobtv very cool thanks
How much would the RC honda cost to buy>?
