Would absolutely love a McGrath replica ktm. Would also love to see wob work his magic with the beryllium on the front brake calliper surely this would be a walk in the park for rob the fella is a magician
What a job u have made for yourselve wob proper decent. I remember last year when brownie came in stright after practice and wasnt happy with certain stuff on the yam but u boys just listened and went to work and watching u on the sides for about 40mins was class. Well deserved beer on the satday night
Quality is the only word i can find in my vocabulary. You’ and the crew always make the time travel justice with these bikes Doc. Its hard to explain for those who perhaps not lived these eras, but for people like myself and so many others it certainly gives that unique feel, a bike and a rider / team can literally give you a Flashback not only related to the sport, but a different life we all lived in, hard to describe it but i am sure you know exactly what i mean! Thanks for sharing these builds. Cheers Doc!

Must be busy over there these days! Cool, I Never knew why those hoses looped over the top. What I still don't get is the plastic screw that opens the throttle slide. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the whole stationary jet/ air-screw setting? Shouldn't the slide always fully close?
@@docwobtv Some people collect diamonds, you've probably got the best collection of jets in the world!. Imagine in 40 yrs time this box turning up on the antique road show!. 😂😉❤️👍.
Looking forward to future episodes, any advice on finishing the rear swingarm? I've bought a 94kx 250 and it's been mirror polished but don't like it so looking for advice to get a finish like yours. Thanks
Ok noted, I’m thinking we should do a back to back with TC100 on the pro circuit kx 250 and his revo kxf450, he’s sure to be quicker on the modern bike but by how much is the question, and if you divide the time difference by 22 for how old it is we can put a number on the development over the last two decades
The side pots on the carb is trick AF. Starving on jumps and hard angle left turns while hard on the front brakes made my 500 spit and pop... I only found out when I actually ran out of fuel and put the two together. Went through 4 different plug heats and jetting and chased my tail. All good to know. It's in the details mate...and I'm all ears. Cheers * Currently at Loretta's camping creekside behind the billboard. 🤠🇺🇸
awsome video, seeking a bit of advice..went tto clean my partners carb and one of the phillips screw's has been very over tightened and started to strip so i stopped, easiest/best way to remove it or is it a case of drilling it out and re-threading?
As the screw heads are proud of the float bowl you can usually grab them with some nice fresh pliers but if it’s cross threaded drilling it would be tricky, I’d take it to a machine shop and get it drilled by a milling machine…
Awesome video brother, bet that fool that mentioned locktite it's capable of even stripping and cleaning his own carb!😂 and if you carnt get it just make it is megga just like Allen miliard of Mx 👍🇬🇧👌🐐
If I’m honest there’s nothing wrong with the honda front brake if it’s all working properly, if you take the caliper off the carrier it needs to be free on the pins, if it’s bled properly then it’s either bad seals or bent caliper carrier
One step you did miss. One that is barely touched upon in owner’s manner or race manual. Especially with these older carbs. There are two brass security screws holding the jet block to main body. Beneath that there is a silicone oring, which prevents the slow jet from bypassing the main. Over time these will shrink and fail, giving a rich condition at start and 1/4 throttle. Keihin does NOT make these, they know about it and advocate you do Not self service this. But can buy from third parties. You should replace it. Plenty of videos on the tube regarding this problem. You learned something new. Thank me later.
hopefully you didn't block the vent holes with the loctite, should have put loctite on the outside of the carb as opposed to inside of the t piece. great video though.
Pretty funny when all dirt bikes turn electric in a couple years not one HRC will mean nothing or any of theses 2 stroke builds there will be no gas or gas will be so damn high bike's won't matter anymore?
I know right, bikes won’t be important, all humans will be vegan, people will cycle everywhere to improve the environment. China will stop polluting and crime will be non-existent….
Amazing stuff.
A joy to watch.
Cheers.
Thank you we try our best!
That float bowl is trick. ! I’ve lost count of how many carbs I’ve rebuilt over the years I find it quite therapeutic. ✊🏻
Yea the cleaning part isn’t fun but bolting it all together isn’t the worst job
These old kx builds are awesome
I can only hope the channel gets some more momentum with wob dropping some jewels of knowledge in there as well 👏🏻👍🏻

Absolutely the bollocks wobs and team need this as a weekly thing with all bikes 👌👌👌
That’s quite the commitment to be weekly!
Love your videos keep them coming 👍🏻
Will do!
I remember there used to be a kit for emulating the factory carburetor vents, maybe Boyesen but I am not sure what the brand was.
Lovely content as always 👍 Respect!

It’s plastic so as not to cause damage to the slide. Still a pain in the ass when someone has been at it with pliers
Beautiful work of Art

a previous video show the swingarm process.
@@docwobtv I'll try to find it and I also need a set of your rear axle blocks to finish it off 👍
Can you get someone to do a test after FoxHills, and compare them back to back!?
That is the plan, test back to back against which bikes though? Each other or something modern?

Here I'm hoping that bloody jet ski plug cap does not need testing at fox hills.
Me too but the one thing we can’t control is the weather!
chew on the end of the pipe a little it will warm and lubricate it then it will slide on real easy
Yes I’ve done that on cheaper pipe but this stuff has a higher silicone content so is softer
Arnt there different slide types they're numbered ?
Yes we’re running a number 7 on the kx500, the difference in number denotes the cut away at the rear of the bottom of the slide
