I have 10 watches, various colors, but didn’t have a red watch. I decided to buy this Orient with the red dial after seeing pictures and I have to say it is absolutely stunning, especially in the sun! I will say it is the most stunning looking watch I own! I have only had it a month and I have already had numerous people comment and ask me what type of watch it was. I haven’t gotten the same reaction even with my Rolex Bluesy or a beautiful blueTag Heuer that I have.. if you’re on the wire about buying this watch, I can tell you buy it!
@@SausageDoggg I’ll be honest! Drove to the shop the next day, I didn’t like it in real life. All the looks that is has in these online reviews had me sold. But all that magical smoke cleared once it was in my hands. 1. The watch is lighter than it looks, which makes it feel ‘cheap’. 2. The beautiful red dial seems brownish-red in typical indoor lighting. (I couldn’t take it outside, off course) 3. The bracelet was the final dealbreaker for me. It felt super light, fragile and “sounded cheap”. The rattle of something that sounded like “chrome-plated-plastic” turned me off immediately. So I don’t mean to trash on the watch, if people love this, I can’t blame them. It is such a wonderful watch, but these points I just couldn’t get past. Just because I wanted a red dial in the collection, doesn’t mean I want to compromise on the bracelet or overall weight. I have other divers (Seiko, Tissot Seastar) so I had comparison material. But if you’re doubting, my advice is: go see it in the store in real life. Have a great day legend ⚜️
@@JasonDeGrawHi. I fully understand your points and views of this watch. I’m seriously thinking of getting it so just a quick question, is the watch in total i.e movement, saphire, bezel, design, materials, etc, worth the price? Its 230 usd here.
@@luqmans7 Welll, I think the watch yeah, but the money definitely goes to the watch, not the bracelet. My advice is: wear it in the shop first, so you can also check on my previous points: weight, red/brown dial, bracelet :)
I agree. However, since this video, I've worn this watch a handful of times. It got called out as a "nice watch" on my wrist twice, and of those two times, neither of those people recognized the dial as red. One thought it was black, and one thought it was brown. Just goes to show you how dynamic this dial can be in different lighting.
I bought this as a beater for work and WOW do I love it! I bought another one to keep safe in case something happens to my work watch. The lumes are phenomenal!
I just got this a few weeks ago too. Absolutely love the watch. The red and black color scheme is such a good combo. The bracelet is really comfortable too, but the hollow end links are annoying (the top one on mine flops a bit). Fantastic watch for the price!!!!
I was thinking on getting this one for quite a while. I hesitated for a while as the Rays, Mako II or whatever they're called are quite cheaper than the Kamasu with like a sapphire crystal as a difference specs wise (if I understood correctly?). Anyhows, that red dial kept tempting me, and I realised that if I'd get an Orient diver it had to be the Kamasu (mostly because of that frigging red dial lol). Well, I finally took the plunge and got it last week. Yeah, the bracelet is a bit jingly jangly with a cheap clasp etc. OTOH, it sits comfortably on my wrist and looks good. The Strapcode options are of course better, but I'm not sure I'd pay ~$80-90 for that upgrade. That red dial is as stunning as I'd hoped it would be, and I love everything else regarding the hands, dial and over all finish on the case etc. IMHO a great watch for the ~$250 I paid for it. And as an owner of a few Seiko 5s with tucked away tiny crowns I didn't have a problem with the crown on this one lol.
My first Kamasu was this red. Its appearance is so stunning that I consider it a dress watch. It's super accurate running slow 1 sec/day. I have since added the black dial with gold bezel model. It's running slow 7 sec/day. These gems have more or less retired my Rolex. I plan on adding a blue dial Kamasu soon.
Looks amazing, what kind of strap replacement would you recommend with this exact same colour scheme? Do you think you can keep this watch for life? Where services it in the UK?
I love the jubilee bracelet from strapcode on it, but since the dial is so colorful, your options for colored straps are limited. Nylon straps with a small, red stripe, or black or brown leather straps are best. Keep it simple, let the dial do all the talking. I do think this can be a lifelong watch, although it will need a service every few years, which will eventually outweigh the cost of the watch. I would check local watchmakers/jewelry stores in your area that have a dedicated in-house watchmaker.
I was torn between this kamasu and isl 66 (islander red dial). I ultimately chose the Islander for more fun aspect, but kamasu looks more elegant and original.
swapping this bracelet with a jubilee style bracelet from a third party and a black leather band gives you alot of flexibility with this watch as well. great purchase for anyone considering. i went with red just because you dont see it very often on other faces. green and blue are everywere. expand your collection!
@@eriklarson6362as a first watch I got myself a seiko series 5 full stainless steel, was really good with any outfit as a first, the red kamasu is my 2nd watch
Hi! After seeing your review, i pulled the trigger and ordered the Kamasu. But, I also love the light blue Seiko with the silver and blue strap in the case. It looks amazing! What's the model number and is that the original band?
I have the same StrapCode bracelet down in the video thumbnail, but for Seiko Alpinist. Do you find it sharp on the edges? No one is taking about it but I find my very sharp everywhere, almost uncomfortable with taking it on and off.
@@ChronometerCheck Not really, as I like the bracelet to stay firm on my wrist. Not a problem while wearing it most of the time, but when taking it off and touching it it feels sharp. The clasp especially, and the top of the bracelet when going from left to right, it feels sharp as well. I solved it with my wife's nail pile, not everything can be piled but the clasp is now smoother and much more comfortable to operate. So basically your is as sooth as Orient bracelet?

Hi Anthony , That 👑 operation oh no ! I went with the Kanno Red Dial instead & threw on a domed Sapphire . Bezel is smooth like a Seiko & Crown is easy to use . Doesn't wear that much larger either . I have 2 Watches with red Dials 👅✌️🥂
Yup, it's unfortunate as the crown is still one of my few gripes with this watch. Also forgot to mention how grainy it feels during handwinding. Not a pleasant experience. Glad to learn your Kanno is more enjoyable to use. The larger dimensions on paper threw me off, but I'm sure it wears just fine. Enjoy!

I have 5 Orient watches(Mako2, Ray2, Kamasu red, Kamasu green, Kamasu 4) now. They are all great watches, but if you shake them left and right softly for more than 10 seconds, they all speed up for 4 ~ 5 seconds immediately. If you do it again, they speed up more. Also, they all speed up approximately 10 ~15 seconds after walking for 3 ~ 5km or exercise in gym) Since all of my 5 Orient watches and SKX007 are same, I think it's normal for them. Anybody has comment for this here?
While they can be regulated to precision, accuracy isn't their strong suit out of the box. And yes, you're right, it may speed up or slowed down when shaken a certain way, or even when leaned in a certain direction (I.E. facedown vs. face up).
