@@BohdanOsipian I guess this depends on the shade of blue you are wearing and what other colors might be in there. Also, keep in mind the dial is a bit subdued when not in direct light. Thank you for making this video! Before this video, I was unable to decide whether I should get the SKX09 or Kamasu as my first diver watch. After watching this, I've decided to buy both!
The Orient Ray II is relevant for me because of Hand-winding, screw-down, 41.5 mm and above all the round markers. To me the dash markers disturbs my eyes! Thanks for the deep audio-video analysis.
For the versatility part I think you should have put more emphasis on the fact that you can get all of the at the same color (black) to have less bias towards/against the green ones. I mean you already called the Ray II a boring design because of the black color but it would be a different story if the blue one was here. Would be the same case if you had the black sk5 or the black kamasu. But great vid!
All great watches, especially for the price. The Kamasu is probably the one to go for, however even though the SKX has the least features it’s still my favorite of the bunch. I know it’s outdated, but it’s iconic and just has a certain charm about it. Just my personal opinion, I’ll always have an SKX in my collection. And the 013 is my favorite :)
I just bought the red kamasu, but I really want this green one too. Im on my 6. Orient watch, I think I have a serious problem. Must talk to my therapist 🤗⌚
Pure love for the SKX013. I bought it one year ago and I love it more every day. I wear it with a brown leather strap with polish steel clasp and is just perfect balance between elegance and an sport and masculine appearance. That flat bezel and cristal makes him move away from the rest (not looking like another Submariner copy shape), giving to the watch an strong personality and becoming itself as the icon that it is. And after a year I´m so happy to had paid just 191 euros, now is not easy to find it for less than 270. Really good comparison ;)
I hesitate to dwell on something so superficial but I just love the green on the dial of the Orient. I've never seen a color quite like that on either high or low end watches.
Man for me, it has to be the seiko 5 sport. That green color looks unbelievably stunning. Only think I would do is just upgrade the crystal to a sapphire in the future. I don't ever see myself fully diving so the 100m should be more than enough for me
I'm so happy that I found your channel. I have the exact same writst size as you and all my life long I thought I could never pull off a watch and it would always look bad. It made me pretty sad to be honest since I really do like the look of some watches. You really gave me the confidence to look out for watches and don't think too much about the size. Now I own a few watches and I'm so happy every morning when I put on a watch. You really made a difference in my life and I really want to thank you for that.
The Overall winner is the Kamasu, because of the Sapphire Christal, hacking, winding & signed crown, as per the tables at 02:35. Knowing that Orient is a division of Seiko, then quality and reliability will be the same in both brands. The Kamasu is a true breath diving (not ISO 6425 certified) and dress watch for every day use. Many Thanks dear Alexandro for the unbiased and comprehensive review and best regards.
Great vid...I've been waiting for a good head-to- head for a while now. I have a Ray II in blue...stunning and comfortable. I actually like the firmness of the bezel. The Kamasu color looks pretty amazing, and I like the smaller 013 size and crown position. Always look forward to seeing your vids! Keep it up!
you say the bezel on the Ray II is not useful for everyday use because the turning is very hard. I would say since you are not a diver that the bezel on the Ray II is the best in everyday use because you won't use the bezel since you are not a diver and when the bezel for always stays at its place that would be only good. For the rest i loved your video thanks
This is the best comparison and review of seen of these watches…period. 👍🏻 15:21 Diver watches are chunky by nature (well, TRUE divers are). So no one should be surprised if they get a diver and it’s BIG.

The point is sometimes there are people, like me, who has smaller wrists ( 15,5 cm ) and do not have any choice than the skx013. The othets are too big and desproportional to the forearm.
As mentioned in the video, think about wearing these watches with a dress shirt. My Citizen Eco Drive E650 constantly catches on the edge of my shirt sleeves, which requires that extra hand wiggling to free the watch, and actually has torn some strands of fabric on a few shirts. I think the sleeker profile of the Orient Ray II would slide more freely from under and out of a shirt sleeve.
I was 100% certain that I’m gonna buy the Seiko Hulk. But when I saw the Kamasu and his specs couple of weeks ago, I just can’t stop searching videos so I can see it and admire it. The most amazing watch under 300 euros that I’ve seen till now.
Nice review, thanks for that! I actually went with a blue Kamasu, since I got it for $200 and the Sapphire was a huge selling point (also any SKX was sold out in my country). I am wearing it all day since, and the movement is a little bit fast compared to my NH35A Vostok Europe, but "resetting it" every month isn't that bad (it gains like 2-3 minutes each month). Also since, I use my watches in hard environments, the "crystal" on the Vostok didn't live up to, while I managed to scratch the bezel on the Kamasu, the crystal is still fine! - For a next add-on, Kamasu could really do with a ceramic bezel and than this watch would be a perfect tool/EDC watch - but let's not go there Orient :)
I just got my orient kamasu green and love it so much. More so after finding out its desirable. I bought mine for 220 usd brand new from a dealer at a shopping center. Love it will keep it in my watch collection for a long long time ♡
@@supermeseriasu yes I'm still very happy with the green! Most of the time it's quite dark, so, it doesn't pop as much as the blue, but in the sun, the dial is fantastic!

For the orient ray 2 a neat trick to loosen up the rotating bezel, add some olive oil on the sides and continue rotating the bezel. You'll notice a big difference :)
Great review. I own the skx013 and Ray2. I tried on the new Seiko 5’s and they were great looking but they just felt too big for me. For daily wear I would go with the skx013. It’s case size and comfort of the jubilee bracelet win over the Ray2’s 41.5mm case, 22mm bracelet(no taper), and tightness of the bezel. However, the finish and details on the Orient are much nicer making it a much more versatile watch. Congrats Allesandro on 25k subscribers! So deserved👍
Very good review. I just purchased the Seiko 5 Sports in green, exactly the same as in your review. The main reason I showed it was because it did not have a screw down crown, which allows for easy adjustments right on my wrist. As for the "only" 100m rating, that is ok for me as I only snorkel to no more than 10m deep.
For me the winner is Ray II. If you want sapphire crystal you can buy one on ebay for $20 and pay $30 to replace it. Still will be way under Kamasu price and I love the dial of Ray better
Loved review and format my pick overall would be the Ray ll which I own in blue . I love the size dimensions and design to include fit and finish and the price is excellent . You have a new subscriber .
I have both the Seiko 5 sport and the Orient Ray 2, and I love both of them. Would like to have had a screw-down crown on the Seiko 5, but honestly the push-pull is stiff enough to stay put and 100m is more water resistance than I’ll ever need. I’d also like to have had a larger crown on the Orient with a bit better knurling, but I’m not massively disappointed with it. Both the Seiko and the Orient have their pros and cons, but for ~$200 they’re amazing watches. I’d recommend both of them to anyone looking to start their automatic watch collecting, or even to just add a cool diver to their collection at a great price.
I have the red (it's actually more like burgundy) Kamasu. It is a beautiful watch with great functionality and a unique design of its own. For my money the Kamasu is the way to go. Seiko 5 I would not even include due to lack of screw down crown and the fact that it does not meet official dive watch specs. Thanks for your review!!
The Orient Ray I in blue was one of my first automatic watches since I got into watches over half a decade ago. I now have much more expensive pieces such as my GMT Master, but I still wear the Orient from time to time. There's really something about it at just looks right and timeless despite its humble position in horology. In comparison, I've gotten rid of all my SKX Seikos. I've had three SKXes (007, 013 and 031), all in different sizes. Honestly, I do not get the hype with the SKX. It looks like a toy especially after you've owned at least a dozen other different watches. I also bought the Kamasu when it first came out over a year ago. It was actually the limited edition mother of pearl dial in blue and gold. I disposed of it shortly after since the bezel was "raised" and prone to getting scratches and chips on the edges of the bezel insert. It's only something you'll notice in person.
I wear the triton daily. That raised bezel is one of the best features. They are $20 to replace. If it was flush with crystal, or below, all those bezel dings would be on the crystal. The edges of tempered glass are the sensitive area that causes it to break from a light tap.
I bought both the Orient Ray 2 and the SKX009. The only trouble I had was deciding which one to wear first. Hacking and hand winding isn't a necessity for me.
My all time favourite is still the Ray II with a dark blue dial. The only thing I wish it had was a sapphire crystal. Other than that, it's a great watch with impressive lume and it looks great even under the cuff of a long-sleeved shirt.
Great video. For a while I've been pondering whether to get an Orient Ray II, I think it has much more value than the skx now that it's gone up in price.
Great video. Great comparison. Lucky to have either one. Just want to add something I did hear say, briefly. Last year to get the legendary, skx, from seiko. You have time to put one of the others in your collection in the future, so it’s my suggestion to get one of the last sks and never do any mods you can’t change back to oem. Thanks for your vids, The knifewatchman.
Great video, I was surprised by my Kamasu 2 Teal dial's finishing, better than expected. The screw down crown is a bugger to get screwed back down! Other than that it's an amazing deal for the $230 I paid for it. Happy with the looks and value.
Thanks for the review. But no mention of how the crown winds. I know that many Orient watches feel as though there is sand in the movement when you wind them.
Orient calibres usually most straightforward and less sophisticated comparing to others. They are using less wheels in calibres which make them easily serviceable but yes, they are a bit tough on winding when fully winded already
Great video as usual, straight to the point and very professional editing. Only thing, the indices on the 5KX are not "stamped from the back of the dial" but rather applied.
This has been a great help as I have been thinking of buying the Kamasu but didn’t know much about it. This comparison has been really informative. Thank you 😊
Nice review. I have both SKX009 and blue Kamasu. Of the reviewed watches, I think you can never go wrong choosing from any. All are divers' watches. If you spend more time diving than on business attires, SKX would be the choice, else the Kamasu on the other way around.
Awesome review! Just a small tip for the Ray II: if you apply pressure onto the bezel and put the pads of your thumb and middle finger on the surface of the bezel (not on the outside of the bezel) at 0800 and 0200, the bezel rotates fairly easily. Even if that is still difficult, with the same finger placement you can actually rotate your hand using your wrist, which will give you a bit more torque. Hope this helps!
I went for the blue Kamasu as it looked somewhat better than the others, I probably will get the SKX007 in the near future rather than the 13 but I do like the Ray ll in black, also ordering the Orient Neo70 as that looks stunning with a light brown strap. Nice review by the way.
Ray. Love the Sub vibe. Price value proposition tops. Only thing maybe is the crystal but how many peeps can see that and we aren't talking serious diving for most. Yes, just bought a Ray. My favorite here. Hate the cheap looking green dials and cannot stand jubilee bracelets. Oyster all the way.
i own a skx007 which is my first mechanical watch. i love it and planning to add a new companion near to it. that will be orient kamasu red. in my opinion, buying an skx with these inflated prices is not logical. i didn't like the new seiko5 series. orient ray and mako never appealed to me. but kamasu is just beautiful in every colour choice. i wish it had solid end links instead of hollow end links.
Great review and all very good points. I went with boring Orient Ray II Black...LOL, because I am a fan of the style., but I paired with a two-tone Jubilee bracelet. I wish you allowed images.
I agree the Kamasu seems less easy to read at a glance because the rectangular indices seem to clash with the hands. I recently got the newer Kamasu with mostly circular indices for this reason.
If you want a watch that you can mod easily at home (if you are fairly good with your hands) the Seiko 5 is a good choice. There are a number of upgrades, like a sapphire crystal and a ceramic bezel, that are very cheap to purchase. I am a proud owner of a Swiss drive Invicta Pro Diver, but lean towards the S5 and will probably purchase one of these. Love the gold hands and indices against the green background.
To compare these watches, the SKX007 would have been the better choice. The 013 is much smaller then the other 3. It's the only real diver, but as a real diver too small to use under water. You really need a big diver to use under water. Visibility is key, and the 007 outperforms the 013 when you are actually diving with it.
Hey There. The Kamasu caught my eye for its design and specs as it was released. The pick of the bunch in my opinion. I’m not a fan of the green 5kx, but perhaps in a different Colour?
I have a skx175 but I love the new seiko 5s bought 2 of them hacking hand winding better lume and I believe the 4r36 movements are being regulated there running so so accurate compared to my old skx. Great video
Great comparison! I don't do mineral crystals so the Kamasu is the only choice for me here. The easier to use bezel and crown are also great selling points for me compared to the blue Orient Mako II, which appeals to me the most purely based on looks. If the white dial version of the Mako USA II was included that would be my winner though. But I still feel my white dial Heimdallr SKX beats them all... ;)

I disposed of it shortly after since the bezel was "raised" and prone to getting scratches and chips on the edges of the bezel insert. It's only something you'll notice in person.
over half of decade..... or maybe quarter of 2 decades?
I experienced the same issue you mentioned on the kamasu, on my ray 2. After a couple months it was mashed all over the bezel
ray series.are the.best.diver.of all times
I wear the triton daily. That raised bezel is one of the best features. They are $20 to replace. If it was flush with crystal, or below, all those bezel dings would be on the crystal. The edges of tempered glass are the sensitive area that causes it to break from a light tap.
Excellent review and comparison, thank you! Your channel is fast becoming my favourite watch channel.
Thank you! This was an excellent comparison and I am happy to have listened to an expert's take and opinion on the various features of each.
Ray II, pop the bezel off and remove the excess glue holding the bezel insert. This freed- up the bezel on my Ray II.
Is there a version orient ray 2 with saphire or is it just urban legend?
Great video. Orient Ray II is the best all around.
Excellent job. Best comparison of those watches I have seen yet
Appreciate that
Best review I’ve seen ever. Thank you. Orient wins for me. Thinking mako 3 as it now has sapphire crystal.
If you want a Kamaru, Jomashop has them for 199-209 depending on the color, plus they often give $10-20 off coupons
Good useful review, nice photography!
Great video. For a while I've been pondering whether to get an Orient Ray II, I think it has much more value than the skx now that it's gone up in price.
Get the Blue Ray2. The sunburst on that dial is just in a league of its own
@@ChapeauRouge921 I've had my eye on that exact model! Thanks! I am a sucker for a blue face. I love my blue Casio Edifice efv-110d-2avuef!!
Yeah, and meanwhile the Ray II has dropped in price quite a bit. I just saw it for $125 on Amazon.
@@victorshikhman It's still goin for around $135 right now. Great value
What a crazy comparison video👍 keep doing this way bro✌️
My favorite is Orient kamasu .thanks for show me this excelent piece. Saludos desde Mexico!!
Great video! Thank you for taking the time to make this
Great video. Great comparison. Lucky to have either one. Just want to add something I did hear say, briefly. Last year to get the legendary, skx, from seiko. You have time to put one of the others in your collection in the future, so it’s my suggestion to get one of the last sks and never do any mods you can’t change back to oem.
Thanks for your vids,
The knifewatchman.
Kamasu: the red one is screaming buy me!!!!!
Great video, I was surprised by my Kamasu 2 Teal dial's finishing, better than expected. The screw down crown is a bugger to get screwed back down! Other than that it's an amazing deal for the $230 I paid for it. Happy with the looks and value.
I got 5 orient and 2 orient star watch all in auto. I'll go for the kamasu. what can I say, I'm an orient fan boy.
thank you dude, very informative and well produced video!
Great video; thank you for your analysis
What a fantastic and well done comparison. I have a red Kamasu that I bought directly from Orient for around $250.
Excellent review, I went for the Kamasu with the black face fit and finish is perfect for me
Thanks for the review.
It is winding up the movement while being screwed down. Not a big deal.
Great video as usual, straight to the point and very professional editing. Only thing, the indices on the 5KX are not "stamped from the back of the dial" but rather applied.
This has been a great help as I have been thinking of buying the Kamasu but didn’t know much about it. This comparison has been really informative. Thank you 😊
Orient Kamasu is my new love. Im just on my adventure on all the Kamasu videos to be more hyped for it ^^
Nice review. I have both SKX009 and blue Kamasu. Of the reviewed watches, I think you can never go wrong choosing from any. All are divers' watches. If you spend more time diving than on business attires, SKX would be the choice, else the Kamasu on the other way around.
Wow great video Alexandro!
That teal sunburst dial on the Kamasu 😍
Just have my new seiko sport today in charcoal and blue ...a gift for myself this christmas...
Excellent review style and measure of detail. Really good. Well done.
i own a skx007 which is my first mechanical watch. i love it and planning to add a new companion near to it. that will be orient kamasu red. in my opinion, buying an skx with these inflated prices is not logical. i didn't like the new seiko5 series. orient ray and mako never appealed to me. but kamasu is just beautiful in every colour choice. i wish it had solid end links instead of hollow end links.
Great review and all very good points. I went with boring Orient Ray II Black...LOL, because I am a fan of the style., but I paired with a two-tone Jubilee bracelet. I wish you allowed images.
Amazing video!!! keep up the good work
I agree the Kamasu seems less easy to read at a glance because the rectangular indices seem to clash with the hands.
Komatsu the Ray II with the blue dial the Seiko 5 then the skx mini 013. Just my opinion. Thank you for another great video
Nice Mark,
You are a trusted voice... Tudor yes, especially the burgundy
To compare these watches, the SKX007 would have been the better choice. The 013 is much smaller then the other 3. It's the only real diver, but as a real diver too small to use under water. You really need a big diver to use under water. Visibility is key, and the 007 outperforms the 013 when you are actually diving with it.
Great and very comprehensive comparisons!
i like the kamasu's lug to lug, it wears small for a 41mm. im leaning towards kamasu over more expensive divers just for the size
Hey There. The Kamasu caught my eye for its design and specs as it was released. The pick of the bunch in my opinion. I’m not a fan of the green 5kx, but perhaps in a different Colour?
I bought the Red dial version and its sick.
I have a skx175 but I love the new seiko 5s bought 2 of them hacking hand winding better lume and I believe the 4r36 movements are being regulated there running so so accurate compared to my old skx. Great video
Amazing review. Answered every question I had.
But I still feel my white dial Heimdallr SKX beats them all... ;)
I think you nailed it! Even in that summary shot the Komasu just stood out. A the rest looked like black dials almost.
