- Everybody knows I collect watches, and it is NOT a cheap hobby. Teddy Baldassare promised me he'd show me some timepieces that would fit right into my collection without spending more than a couple hundred dollars.

Back in those years I couldn’t buy it ) when people get rich they step to many levels then they forget how hard is to earned/have money in your bank account! I have several (think at least a dozen) watches. My watch collection features several Seiko solar and Citizen eco drives. I never pay full price for a watch. One of my favorites was a beautiful Bulova 98C127 that I picked up from Kohls. It was on clearance for under $100 and with my Kohls cash got for around $75.
As a collector in only high end brands I have to admit to being quite surprised (if not stunned) by a number of these pieces.

Can NEVER get over how much Mr. Wonderful and I have in common! I too LOVE vintage guitars, watches, and cars. The only difference is that his bank account status is "MORE MONEY THAN GOD!", and mine is "Oh God! Can I make it till pay day?!" Was looking at Orient about 10 year ago and looking the high end look. Should have started buying them up. Went on Amazon after watching this vid and there's sooooo many wonderful Orient watches. I wish I could buy them all up, as well as a few timex, and Seikos.
Always entertaining, love the chemistry with you two. The "Stars and Stripes" was re-issued by Bulova as the Chronograph C. You can get a new Chronograph C with a SS weave bracelet and a blue leather strap for less than $500.

It slays me how much of a divide there is in this hobby. I mean....a guy who owns a McLaren knows about GT Mustangs and old Corvettes. I cannot fathom the mind of a watch collector who is unaware of the sub $500 world of value packed watches.
You can only buy a few Mustangs with the money it costs to buy a McLaren he could literally buy HUNDREDS of Orients with the money it costs to buy some of the watches on his wrist. The McLaren guy is WAY more closer in wealth to the Mustang owner than he is to the Orient owner so that comparison doesn't hold well

@Matthew Elder A watch is not an investment. The vast majority lose value fairly quickly, and even the expensive rolexes only manage to hold their value. So unless you are saying you are "investing" in your happiness, which is impossible to argue the merit of as it's too subjective, I disagree.

And the whole investment argument is bs unless you buy a watch the way you would buy stocks-to sell later. But lots of people think of it as getting their return in the form of personal contentment

I love this. I watched Kevin geeking out with Producer Michael over 6- and 7-figure watches the other day... after watching this I feel like I could get Kevin all excited about several of the pieces in my collection... and not a single one is over $1,100. In my opinion, the law of diminishing returns is in full effect when you get to those monster price tag watches.. and in many cases they just get ugly and gawdy (sorry but let's face it, a lot of them are not understated and classy). I will say though that I liked Kevin's collection way better than PM's.. but Michael has a whole different taste and style of his own.

It's just spectacular how Teddy and Mr. O'leary admire and appreciate good watches. Not like other pundits who dismiss a watch if its not Patek, omega, iwc etc. Actual class.
I purchased a sarb017 alpinist around 2016 for $330 new. Absolutely love the watch and have gotten as many comments on it as I do with my omega seamsters. Recently looked on line and some are selling for $1200-$1400. A staple in my collection I’ll always keep.

After Kevin spoke about Grand Seiko in several utube videos I took a serious look at this brand. I ended up purchasing a Grand Seiko GMT with the spring drive movement and love this piece. I would of never seriously considered this brand had it not been for Kevin and Teddy. Big thank you.
When the (high-end) enthusiast overvalues a $375 watch as if its $1200, you know you're are dealing with an expensive S-curve (massive diminishing returns)

Props to O'Leary for the joy and fun he shows in this conversion. His showing off doesn't bother me because he balances it. I have a new found respect. My collection is a Timex Marlin, a Hamilton Khaki Field and a Seagull 1963 chronograph. Teddy should have stuck with the $500 price point and mentioned the Seagull and the Hamilton Field instead of the Ventura.
