Just got the kanno cause i have giant 8.5 inch wrists so i really only wear under 43mm for dress watches and tho the lack of marker details and sapphire crystal sucks, its still an amazing watch for the price.
A timely review; I just bought what was advertised as a Kamasu, but once delivered is a Kano. I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. The red certainly is brighter in person.
Very cool vid and timely for me. I just bought both of these exact watches -- my first Orient -- in the exactly colorways with the idea I will keep one and return the other. They are both within $10 of each other in price at around $200 on sale. The red colorway tends to be a little more expensive by a few bucks over one of the more common colors so I am happy to get it at this price. There are elements of both that are pleasing. I like the Kamasu's smaller size and sapphire crystal, but the sword hands and brighter dial shade on the Kano and more modern looking bezel may win me over. I have 7 inch wrists and generally prefer smaller watches too, so that gives the Kamasu an edge going in. Another factor I'll consider is modability. If one watch has more aftermarket parts that may sway me one way or another.
Thanks for sharing. Always glad to hear watch stories from my viewers.👍 I hope my video is helpful in your final decision. I think you’ll be happy with either watch. Speaking of mods, I don’t think there’re many parts for these Orients. They simply don’t have enough modding fans out there. Do factor that in your decision.
I'll go with mineral glass of the Kano because sapphire glass is more reflective and should have a very good anti reflection coding which you don't get from affordable watches.
Appreciate you putting your impressions and thoughts into this video. I would have thought that you'd pick the Kano over the Kamasu. Lume shots missing?
Thanks for dropping by. I can’t remember what I picked during the time of this video. It was a while back. But I’d go for the Kamasu today mainly for its size and sapphire crystal. Lume shots should be found in their invidual review videos. If I remember correctly, they’re pretty decent, but just under Seiko levels.
good review, both watch lacking something that the other have, if they can combine what i prefer on each watch into one, then definitely be on my radar
Thanks for dropping by. You’re right. It would be nice to have the best of both worlds. But if I had to choose one between the two, my choice today would be Kamasu. I think the smaller case size wins.
I just bought the black and gold kamasu, it's a beautiful watch. Would love to see a Kano black and gold. I would of taken the Kano if it had a black and gold version. The 44mm Kano to the Kamasu 42mm would look better on my 8 inch wrist.
Kano would no doubt fit a bigger wrist better. At the moment it seems like Orient are investing more time & effort in the Kamasu (more references more releases). Plus the sapphire crystal on the Kamasu puts it above many budget divers. I think you made the right choice with your Kamasu. Congrats.
Thanks for the reviews! I have been debating which one to go with, and while I like the size of the Kanno better, the Kamasu is so much better looking!
Well done review. That Kamastu dial is so gorgeous, but alas a date at 3 is deal killer for me so a date/date combo is like a double homicide. Still, for those who don’t care great-looking insanely adorable option.
I have a similar model of Kamasu, and I agree the crown is so fiddly to use. Big hands ands fingers will not enjoy using this crown, but the crown guard is welcome.
Thanks for dropping by. I reviewed the newer model with round markers and I thought the crown action has improved slightly. I hope Orient has improved the older model too.
@@AndyinSG im not sure which direction is correct haha. i was told to only set the time by winding in anti clockwise direction. can you confirm if this is true?
A beautiful watch but even with the small crown , the Kamasu just has more for the approximately same price … the only reason to get the Kano is if you have a much larger wrist 7.5 +not as refined no borders around indices , day/Date. No sapphire crystal, no pip at 12oclock , colour not as vibrant as Kamasu. Unless I can find the Kano for a super deal then I would get one but until then no
Kano's red looks brighter, but very basic and somehow cheaper than it is. Kamasu's red dial looks really dark and deep. Also 41,8 mm is perfect fit for my 7,5 inch wrist. Saphire glass is the deal breaker for me on these watches. I can stand mineral glass on quarz watches, but would never buy an automatic watch if it dies not have one. At the price of an automatic watch with the mineral glass, might as well just go for a quartz diver with better specs and far better finishing. Kamasu is the clear winner here for me!
I guess you’re right about the Kamasu specs-wise. It really has all the requirements of a “good watch”, such as sapphire crystal, hacking, etc. I do miss my burgundy sometimes. And that teal dial is another attractive piece.
I can't decide which one to get. The Kano is bigger which I would prefer, but Kamasu looks better and have sapphire glass. Does anyone knows the glass size on these watches ???
@@AndyinSG Thank you for the suggestion. I have 2 watches 44 mm & 46 mm I think the Kamasu looks better, I like the red dial and it has sapphire glass. I am worried that Kamasu might be a bit small for my wrist (7.5") Do you know the glass size on these watches???
@@AndyinSG no bro, I tried to google the name both came up. So I don't think its typo on your part. Maybe its name differently in different parts of the world. I wasn't sure that's why I asked. 🤭. Not here to correct your grammar. Hahaha
Mako 2, Ray 2 and Kamasu have the same case. Kano's case is like a bigger version of this case too. I mean bring some more variety to the table orient. C'mon!
😹 Sometimes I can’t see the fingerprints and smudge under studio lights. That’s the downside of high definition filming - the flaws only show up in post-production. But thanks for the feedback.
I hate the bezel on the Kamasu. A slight improvement over the Mako/Ray, but it is still terrible. And I don't know why they keep insisting with those indentations, they look terrible. They should've put the Kanno's bezel on it.
I think you’re not the first one to dislike the dimples on the bezel. I’m fairly neutral to them. I just think the bezel is too shiny though. Shiny in a cheap way. That said, I’m liking the Kamasu more. May do a re-buy.
@@AndyinSG Yes! Extacty it's too shiny, it doesn't look like stainless steel, but rather a cheap metal with a chrome coating. Too blingy and cheap looking.
@@AndyinSG I love the new Kamasu with the green/blue dial and the grey/black dial. Despite them still having that ugly bezel. The two-tone insert is a nice touch, though.
I found the Kamasu wore too small for my liking on my 7.5 inch wrist. The crown is a joke and very difficult to operate. Have a Kano coming so will hopefully be happier with that.
I think they might have improved things a bit with the Gen2 Kamasu. At least the one I reviewed showed some improvement on the crown action. That said, I think the Kamasu is a really nice design from Orient.

Kamasu: Size, crystal, bezel insert, markers details
Kanno: Cleaner design, bezel shape, crown
Wish i could mix them for my dream diver.

You can customize the kamasu
Really. The Kamasu with the Kanno bezel (keeping the insert minus the indentations) would be a huge improvement.
They should put these 2 watches together and make the perfect watch, they could call it the kamakano!
Sounds like a great nickname!
The Kano bezel style on the Kamasu would be perfect.
You’re the best! This is the exact comparison I needed, thank you !
Thanks for dropping by. Hope you found this useful.
I loved the cleaner look of the kano and the size also is a plus for me
The kano probably works well if you want a bigger watch. 👍
The Kano dial wins it all.
There is nothing out there like it. Just beautiful at this pricepoint.

This was a great help. Now I know exactly which of the two I will buy. Thank you!
Thanks for dropping by. Happy to help.
Thanks for all of the fine details. It really helps when choosing a watch.
Most welcome!
The way that dial reflects light is a thing of beauty, that even luxury watch manufacturers like Rolex and Omega don't have.
Some good observations Andy, about the case size and bezel differences. I bought the Kamasu and it does feel like a 39mm watch.
The Kamasu is already a classic. Right size and great wearability. Congrats!
