I have been studying this for 20 years, since I first studied evolutionary biology and realised our dietary advice doesn't make any sense whatsoever. We have archeological digs that support this, although there seems to be a lot of effort to dispute this recently (i.e vegan propaganda), which appears to be politically/economically motivated. I don't listen to information that doesn't make sense to me at all. At the beginning of 2023, I was taking high blood pressure medication and suffering from pain related to Osteoarthritis and Degenerative disc disease and I discovered that I was diagnosed with non alcoholic fatty liver in 2021 that no one told me about. So on January 13th, I completed changed my diet to only include whole foods, I stopped using ketchup, mayonnaise and salad dressing, I limited my daily carbohydrate intake, I started drinking only water and I stopped using processed oils or butter and replaced them with cold pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil and grass fed butter. Within 2 months, I was able to stop taking my blood pressure medication and the majority of my pain was gone. I was able to start walking my dog on a daily basis, starting out slow at first at a mile and now we are up to 3.3-4.3 miles depending on the route we take.

@@samanthaporter6662 this is not entirely true. I have been keto and carnivore dieter, the carbs is not really the issue they way you think it is. Natural carbs are abundant in nature, especially in a fast absorbing way. It's the "modern" carbs that raises your insulin very fast (glycemic index). Some people are still in ketosis eating carbs. Some genetics are even more carb adapted, yamnaya people drank milk (carb source). The optimal diet is carnivore + very high fiber foods. It's typically traditional foods. Over time your physiology will become more metabolically adapted. Look for your ancestry what they are, try to replicate and see the result. Italians are very skinny eating loads of carbs. Meat was few and far between and would likely be in abundance for a few days while it was fresh. Everyone is trying to say one food is better than another but it’s not that simple. The body’s digestive tract is designed to get the best out of plants. It’s long to maximise nutrient absorption. If you cut out the highly processed crap you should be fine to eat whatever. It’s all about calories in and out and balance. This proposed living off pure meat is insane and will end up killing people with the organs having to process all the toxic build up of keytones

The longest lived, healthiest people in the world in the Blue Zones eat a variety of diets but most aren't highly keto-based. What they have in common is avoiding all processed, chemically laden foods and high amounts of sugars and eating freshly sourced foods. This doesn't need to be a keto vs. vegan argument. Why not eat a balanced diet including appropriate amounts of all healthy foods sources? This battle of diets just promotes division.

Totally. Being in a chronic state of ketosis is absurd, but not quite as problematic as being in a chronic hyperinsulinemic state. Folks in Blue Zone, Inuit, Maasai, Hadza, and other more ancestrally appropriate societies have one thing in common: dipping in and out of a mild ketosis. Nothing at clinical, cancer therapeutic levels, but far from constantly elevated glucose. Since eating more animal foods (protein/fat) and limiting other more processed or plant foods, I’ve found myself in this transitory, mildly ketogenic state.

@@pubwvj sure! If she thinks she has PCOS i HIGHLY recommend she sees a Fertility Specialist. It may be expensive and she'll to get A LOT of tests and bloodwork but its worth it. For years I saw OBGYNs and no one ever even mentioned to test me for PCOS and I suffered most of my life bc of that. So, find a well-rated Fertility Specialist in your area that accepts her insurance and start there.
From what I understand about PCOS is that because of the hormonal imbalance, this could cause issues with insulin that could lead to diabetes if not managed. So thats why eating low carb is recommended bc it causes fewer insulin spikes. Plus, hormones benefit from dietary fat and can be negatively impacted by carbohydrates. So, if she goes low carb, its a good idea for her to increase her dietary fat, protein, and fiber from non-starchy veggies so she feels full/satisfied and it won't turn into a crash diet. She can Google "low carb recipes", find ones she likes, and get started. Hope this helps!

1:10:00 Good one on the "eggs cause diabetes" story. My boss eats eggs almost every morning. He had diabetes - in fact he's almost to the stage where I expect him to start complaining about some "mysterious ulcer" etc. He's pretty far along. But the eggs are not the reason. The reason is he also eats pancakes, waffles, at lunch eats potato chips, bread, buns, potatoes, drinks beer and wine, his favorite meal is hamburgers and french fries, yes, that's a plural on the burgers. I've tried to tell him numerous times that his way of eating and then having to check his blood sugar and inject insulin all the time is living with "one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas" but it just doesn't sink in. But yeah, blame the eggs...

also following the 80/10/10 model - 80% carbs in the form of fresh fruits & vegs; no more than 10% protein; no more than 10% fat. Consuming animal proteins is really just reprocessing the plants the animals got their amino acids from. Plants have more than sufficient amino acids, the building blocks of protein. To much protein causes the body to keep building even tho it doesn't need to, which results in overgrowth or deformation of existing cells, commonly called cancer. Too much fat means your body can't process out toxins therefore creates fat pockets to store toxins away from the organs, more commonly known as obesity.

Since you started keto, you probably consume less calories in combination with more protein and can sustain more muscle, which have a high energy requirement. It's not because you excluded a food group, it's because you balanced your intake.

The deception of the American food industry is just mind boggling.
This documentary even states the problem...we're told to eat this, don't eat that, this is healthy, this is not healthy. No WONDER people are confused.
I am blessed to not live in the US (no offence) and live in a Western country that, whilst we have high levels of obesity and junk food, we have moderate level of advertising of these foods. We have a real CHOICE in my country to eat healthy if we want to, even for people on lower incomes as healthy food has always been readily available and cheap in most parts of my country.
The food deserts in America and overadvertising of junk food, not to mention the oversupply of junk and sugary foods in most American supermarkets is just disgusting.
    It is almost criminal.
And how does the American health care system HELP people who end up getting diseases as a result of eating this high-fat, high sugar American diet?
They ask you to pull out your wallet. They won't treat you for operations or surgeries or any treatments unless you have MONEY.
So you're paying industries to get sick by eating fast food, then you're paying AGAIN to get treatment for diseases that are caused by this profit- driven and greedy food industry.
I really feel sorry for most people living in America. Manufacturing food for the American public should NEVER be only about profit. We live in a 'free market' where there is diversity of products, but people really have no real choice over what they eat as nearly everything in America is just another version of sugar or fat. You can't even trust breakfast cereals over there, they're loaded with as much sugar as chocolate.
The only solution is to just be honest with the people about what's in the products. And what effect that has on their bodies. Really educate Americans as to what's causes weight gain, obesity and other health issues.
Of course, there's no money in it for the American food industry, nutrition industry, health care industry. So of course why would they do that?
    SMH...the greed. The greed.

I'm now in middle age and my doctors say I'm as healthy as someone on their 20s when they do my labs. BMI of 20. Sleep well and feel great. What I eat?
I'm allergic to eggs, beans, and dairy, but other than that I eat whatever I want, just usually in small quantities. Bacon or sausage is something I eat almost every day. I don't eat breakfast though, more brunch and then dinner, doing intermittent fasting.
I tried keto for a few months and felt great, ended my joint pain. Unfortunately I couldn't afford to lose any weight, so had to stop it, because I lost about 15 pounds and looked gaunt.
Sugar really is addictive. It's been hard bringing back the carbs without continually doing more and more and more. That's a battle I'll commit to fighting though, because I know now that I feel best with little carbs (not none) and lots of fat while going at least 16 hours each day without eating anything. I'm continually trying to have just enough carbs to keep my weight up without intensifying to the point I get worsening joint pain and other problems from sugar.

Sadly my taste buds were dealt a bad hand in life and I hate the taste of most meat so I became a vegetarian by default.

How many of the oldest among us eat a ketogenic diet and actually live longer as a result? @Louise Tamiazzo....Sigh....ALL CREATURES...Plant, Animal, Fish and Foul FEEL PAIN!! It's been proven over and over. This Eco System was setup so that something must consume the Energy of another Living Creature in order to continue to function. This includes your Plants. Plants NEED Carbon Dioxide and Methane as well as Nitrogen in order to Photo Synthesize the Sun's Radiation.
Animals and Plants feed off of each other. It's synergistic.
Oh...and Food Crops take up more land and use 5x the water that "Meat" production needs.
When you eat Fruit...you are eating Plant Babies...when you Eat Seeds you are eating Plant Embryos. When you eat Fruit and then plant the Seeds you have taken away their NATURAL Nutrients and now have to either use Man Made ingredients to replace them or let them try to start on their own while handicapped due to you consuming their Natural Nutrients.
Oh, you want to just tear off a Leaf and leave the rest of the plant for later?? That's like breaking off the Foot of a Pig to eat. You leave it alive but now it is Maimed and Crippled.
I watched a video of EPCOT's "Behind The Seeds" tour. I was in tears seeing the TORTURE they do to PLANTS there!! Hydroponics is like having a constant Cavity with Air blowing across it when their Roots are out of Soil and kept constantly misted with their mix. Will they live and make BABIES being kept in PAIN like that??? Sure they will but it is not good or benevolent.
Whether it is Plant or Animal, there is Pain and Suffering in the obtaining of Nutrients for it to Sustain It's own life.
One needs to look to the CREATOR of this WORLD and ask WHY it made Life here so Cruel and Painful for the creatures they put here to continue living.
Will you go on a Campaign to eradicate all Venus Fly Taps since the Kill and murder Animals in a VERY Painful way?? Would you go kill the Rabbit eating from your Garden?? Or maybe you will put a Muzzle on it so it can never devour another plant that it needs in order to continue living?? Of course not.
Also remember that in the "Natural World" or "Nature" so to speak, almost everything that is consumed is done so while it is still alive and watching itself be consumed in the Animal Kingdom. Unless it died naturally or by accident and then it's remains were scavenged.

Although I still stand with my views around animal products. I learned a few things in here that I appreciated and I'm glad I watched it. I completely agree that heavily processed foods where ever they come from is bad for us. I personally gain weight quickly when I eat a lot of, fake meats, oils, processed white flours and sugars. I stay slim when eating a lot of veggies, legumes, whole grains and fruit.
Mental health has also been a huge factor in how healthy I am physically. I have not had anemia since I've healed from a lot of my past trauma and learned to process my emotions and stresses properly I had struggled with it for years even before I stopped eating animals.

I think the confusion and why there is sooo much information out there regarding what's healthy and what's not is that there is so much to consider. From the amount of food, to how our food is being processed and what hormones are being added. From there we get into the ethics of how animals are raised and treated for mass consumption, and the cost on us as individuals to be able to chooses grass fed, free roaming, organic meat products.

Here's something for my exercise-avoidant friends. Being obese makes exercising WAY worse. I have a lot of personal experience with this. When I went on keto and lost a good amount of weight, I gained a greater capacity to exercise. Namely, aerobic exercise. In school I was never able to complete a 1-mile run without having to walk. After losing weight with keto, without starving myself, in conjunction with time-restricted eating, I found that jogging was far easier and even kind of fun.
I followed with my doctor and my cholesterol improved (it was never high, but my HDL was low), my GERD resolved (especially with time-restricted eating), I drastically improved my blood pressure, and I had my doctor's blessing despite not being a keto-positive doctor.
The medical advice was simply "You've lost weight and improved all your biomarkers and blood pressure. Keep doing what you're doing because it's clearly working"

I am vegan for many reasons, the animals and environment being two of them.
I think you can be a healthy meat eater and a healthy vegan. You can also be an extremely unhealthy vegan or meat eater if you fill your diet with junk food or do not eat a well balanced diet.
I think this documentary is the perfect example of how science can be interpreted in different ways to back up a persons ideology and that goes for both camps.
Perhaps we should work out what our own priorities are and leave others to do the same. If we aim for moderation all around we should be somewhere near a healthy diet, whether that includes meat and dairy or not.

While many people have successfully followed this diet, there are some issues and considerations to be aware of: This is a diet not a life style. Guaranteed to cause issues in the long run and shortens life expectancy. Training or not. It is a fact, not myth!
Nutrient deficiencies: Following a ketogenic diet restricts several food groups, including fruits, whole grains, and legumes, which are important sources of vitamins, minerals, and fiber. Without careful planning and monitoring, there is a risk of deficiencies in essential nutrients such as vitamin C, folate, and potassium.
Keto flu: When transitioning to a ketogenic diet, some people experience symptoms known as the "keto flu." These can include fatigue, headache, irritability, dizziness, and nausea. These symptoms are usually temporary and can be minimized by staying properly hydrated and ensuring adequate electrolyte intake.
Digestive issues: A sudden increase in fat consumption can lead to digestive issues such as constipation, diarrhea, and bloating. It is important to maintain a balanced intake of fiber and hydrate well to support healthy digestion.
Risk of nutritional imbalances: The high-fat nature of the ketogenic diet can lead to imbalances in certain fats, specifically an excessive intake of saturated fats. It is important to prioritize healthy fats from sources like avocados, nuts, seeds, and olive oil while moderating the intake of saturated fats from animal products.
Sustainability and social challenges: The strict nature of the ketogenic diet can make it difficult to sustain in the long term. It requires careful meal planning and can be challenging to follow in social situations, making it less practical for some individuals.

The thing is every diet is healthier than eating junk, so when a person goes from garbage to real food, even if it is pure animal fat, or potatoes for 20 days or bananas for 100 years, you end up loosing weight just because you stopped putting "non food" In your body. The problem with extreme diets, keto, plant based, raw food, is that are not sustainable in the long run. Once in a while there are people they succeed on them because they tried hard, and then they make money out of that. And then they try to find scientific data to back up their success. You even talked about how there is no conspiracy to force you eat meat, but there is conspiracy to make you eat grains. Yes pasta is the absolute pure evil. Plant based diet indeed reverse diabetes. I have done it. Ji do not follow any more thought.

When I quit seed oils. You mean I'm not suppose to have bleeding gums, peeling inner mouth, bleeding ears, acne, eczema, etc. It sucks that I have to avoid seed oils as it's in everything.

The problem is, there is not ONE diet that fits for all. Every film/study complaints about another stating that the other is just wrong and we know better. No, THAT is wrong. Every body is unique and acts and digests differently. One can digest gluten, the next cannot. One can digest milk, the other cannot. One has allergies, the other has not. Etc etc etc. At the end of the day each one us has to figure it out ourselves by watching our body. What makes you tired (with me it's pasta and rice). What is causing bowl problems (with me it's certain vegs). What makes you feel energized? I think we can agree on that we should cook ourselves most times and use unprocessed food as much as possible. Everything else we need to figure out ourselves.
