While eliminating sugar from our diet is absolutely essential, someone should do a show on the negative effects of canola or vegetable oils on our diet!
Canola oil is not good, vegetable isnt as bad, but Olive or Avocado oil is the best for cooking. Too many people are scared of fats, but what everyone should be scared of is too many carbohydrates.
Absolutely.....and I'm beginning to discover that olive oil may not be as healthy as it is advertised to be. One of the issues is that what you buy in the store may be adulterated with vegetable oil...or ovely processed olive oil devoid of polyphenols. Who can you trust today in the curious field of 'nutrition '?

@Kenya Kiryu Sugar is a drug. Once you get a taste of it, you fall off the bandwagon. However, it becomes easier to start again. I've learned you just can't have any sugar ever. If you mess up, don't keep messing up, let it go and continue.

Glad at 20 that I figured this out. After going Keto and reading every label, I've become aware of just how processed and loaded with sugar our foods are. Oils, meats, nearly everything. I also strongly believe SUGAR also effects us cosmetically. There is NO need for a biggest percentage of us to look OLD at such early ages. I have seen the difference in folks who use a lot of sugar look older than those who don't use much sugar. When will a study be done on how sugar effects our cells?
I just started eating low carb, low (almost no) sugar - and already, I feel better. I'm eating mostly fruit, vegetables, and whole grains, etc. Here's the biggest surprise: The food tastes fantastic! I no longer am hungry between meals, my energy and sense of well-being is so much improved, and I can think clearly. Although I'm not diabetic, I was definitely heading there. The hardest part has been figuring out how to cook things. I sit down and cut veggies and/or fruit into whatever I plan to eat that day. Sitting helps make it easy. We had chickens, turkeys, geese, cows, pigs and horses as well as huge vegetable gardens and huge wheat fields. We made our own bread, butter and drank raw milk. We hunted ducks, rabbits, deer, moose as well as fished. I don't think we ever went to a grocery store back then that I can remember. The problem isn't sugar itself, it's the PROCESSED sugar in PROCESSED foods. Fresh fruits and vegetables have sugar, sure, but they also have the dietary fibers to process the sugar without converting it into fat. If you look at processed food labels, look at how many grams of dietary fiber in the food. The number is almost always zero. With out the fiber, the sugar goes to the liver, and gets processed into fat. The lower fat, the more sugar in processed foods. We NEED sugar, but processed sugar will cause obesity/overweight issues.

What is excess sugar? I have no trouble staying what is erroneously called the healthy weight range. Actually mortality data shows that a BMI around 25, maybe as low as 23, is the healthiest. Anywhere on either side is diminishing health. Mortality rates rise on both sides of that number.

We also picked gooseberries, strawberries, Saskatoon berries, pin cherries, blueberries and chokecherries the we preserved and made pies and jams with. This was all in Saskatchewan Canada, btw. The cellar was always well stocked for winter and everyone was healthy as a horse as we worked most all of the day, everyday but for us young ones, it was fun. I sure miss those times.
When I was really little I would go to the coop to collect eggs, every now and then I'd find a goose egg in the chicken coop, it was the highlight of my life at the time. lol I remember getting so excited because i didn't know that the geese were laying those huge eggs. Those geese use to chase me and my younger brother all the time, we were so scared of them but in a fun way as we'd scare ourselves. lol

This is a great video that provides a comprehensive look into the consumption of eating too much sugar. It sheds light on the research linking sugar to obesity and other diseases, as well as how the food industry has responded to it. I appreciate learning about the effects of a sugar-free diet on a family and the questions about why food labels are not clear when it comes to sugar levels. Very informative and thought-provoking!

I completely reversed type 2 diabetes in 7 weeks on the carnivore diet and brought my A1C from a dangerously high 10 to a normal 5. I ate only beef, fish and eggs with the occasional avocado and that's it. I feel a million times better now.
Diabetes is not a disease. It is just that people have very unhealthy diets and lifestyles and medical staff have making matters worse by recommending harmful things like dodgy drugs and unnecessary surgery that make matters worse. Once a person improves their diet and lifestyle enough on a regular basis they will improve how they feel.
@@piotrpiotrowski2966 It depends how much damage has been done. If the damage is too much, it will take a very long time of fasting, good habits and health diet to reverse the disease.
No, we could live with zero sugar. However, small amounts of fat are nessacary.
+Grace Janku no we cannot... our bodies require sugar to function
oo kk Our bodies require carbohydrates and the natural sugars in fruits and vegetables. We do NOT require added sugar, granulated or powdered sugar, sugar from sugar cane, etc. These are recent additions to the human diet.

Thanks for sharing! To add to this, sugar has a lot of different names on ingredients labels. The first item on the list is what there’s the most of in a product! Companies don’t want to have sugar on their ingredient list, so they’ll use other names for it. Cumulatively, these different names add up to a good amount of sugar in the product!

Surprised CBC produced something of truth and high quality. Kudos to them.
It's been a year since I minimized sugar intake. Observations are:
1. I maintained my weight on a healthy scale while my colleagues have theirs consistently rising every month,
2. No more breakouts,
3. More energy,
4. Better concentration,
5. Look younger than my colleagues of the same age who regularly consume excess sugar.
What is excess sugar?
I have no trouble staying what is erroneously called the healthy weight range. Actually mortality data shows that a BMI around 25, maybe as low as 23, is the healthiest. Anywhere on either side is diminishing health. Mortality rates rise on both sides of that number.
I’ve also lost 20lbs. My Dr was amazed at my annual bloodwork numbers. Sugar is toxic....

Advertising lures people to foods that are loaded with sugar just like it did in the past with selling cigarettes until the Surgeon General determined that smoking was dangerous to your health, and they stopped the cigarette commercials on television in the 1970s. The government needs to step in and educate people about the harmfulness of too much sugar and censor product advertisements.
I LOVE SUGAR and I now have to QUIT. Fibromyalgia is killing me :(
Maybe this video will help me and millions of others... :)

I got off sugar and processed foods and i now rollerblade up to 14 miles every other day. THERE IS LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. If you have any questions plese leave me a message here and i am happy to help.
I don’t have fibro I don’t have RA but I do have osteoarthritis. My joints in my hands feet and legs were red, inflamed, swollen. Painful. My legs would be so swollen after work I’d have to elevate them and that really didn’t help the swelling or the pain. I was constantly popping Tylenol or tramadol. ( I gave myself a gastric ulcer from popping Motrin) I was in constant pain and I knew it was only going to get worse. Within 2 weeks of starting keto, my symptoms were gone. My joints weren’t red, or swollen or painful. My legs aren’t swollen. Nothin hurts. I haven’t taken anything for pain since April. I just hope it stays this way!
@@nickyannajones Hi, your words sound like a "blessing" to me; I'm dealing with this crap since over 30 years and it's getting worse the older I get. Of the 18 "pressure points" I have 14 being positive and no doctor can help. Since 5 years I'm into morphine now, but that just decreases the pain a little bit and only SOMETIMES. As well as with other toxins [i.e., hydrofluosilicic acid is a known neurotoxin in most American drinking water]
Hydrofluosilicic acid replaced most of the sodium fluoride in most public drinking water
According to The Harvard School of Public Health, The Lancet Neurology, and Dartmouth University, sodium fluoride and hydrofluosilicic acid are known neurotoxins [they cause mitochondrial cellular damage].
Sodium Fluoride and hydrofluosilicic acid also damage the frontal lobe: emotional regulation, decision making, short- and long-term memory, lowers the IQ of children, etc.
Please research these neurotoxins
