My father is 95 and has an egg everyday. When I was told by the government to stop eggs eating eggs I begged him to stop. He said bullshit. He is still running around like a kid.
Congrats you've found your energy deficit. Diet type dosent matter for weight loss. Keep eating less then you need to maintain and youl lose the weight!

Yeah dude someone gave my kid a 'fruit strip' and I saw the wrapper. It said 4 out 5 star health rating. It was 65% sugar by weight! But butter is less than 1 star. I listen to the official health advice... then do the opposite. Never been healthier. Lost 20 kg (~44 lb). Maintained muscle mass but body fat at 11%. Perfect blood work numbers too! Invert the food pyramid!

I found this documentary by doing my own research on my health and what I should do to heal my rheumatoid arthritis that started when I was young AF and now i'm 31 and it's gotten OUT OF CONTROL and I'm not even that old. I used to be a vegan who was afraid of eating protein and fats, because I thought I'd get fat SMH (thanks to the society's bullshit programming)... I'm now 30+ days on the Carnivore diet but still waiting to see results. It's fucking scary to change your diet when all you know is the shit they force down your throat... everywhere online "doctors" and "specialists" that were educated by the western system, all say to stay away from saturated fats and red meat... yet REAL PEOPLE who have healed autoimmune disease's ALL swear they healed by eating red meat and saturated fats. I found dozens upon dozens of people sharing their testimonies, so I have faith that if I stick this through I will heal as well.

In the 1920’s some doctors recommended a ketogenic diet for type 1 with the interesting addition of either 1 or 2 oz of distilled spirits per day (can’t remember which). The alcohol had the benefit of resetting ketone production to zero, which prevented ketoacidosis. (I forget who cited it, but pretty sure it was Dr Boz). Interesting but anecdotal.

I started KETO and exercising at the start of 2022. I'm 45 and have lost 35 lbs and gained muscle. My biggest regret is that I went so many years not understanding why I couldn't lose weight. Today, I feel like a new man.

Same story, 43 yr old 6’ male, in April of this year I was 211 lbs, looking and feeling like a slug. Started working out 15 minutes per day 4-6 days a week with X3 bar and went carnivore a couple weeks later after learning about it watching the X3 videos. 5 months later and I’m 179 lbs, leaner, lighter, more muscular and excited to see where I can go from here. Like you, it just makes me sick that I didn’t do this decades ago….
I had reached a point where I was always hungry, I had no energy, I was tired all the time, and my joints and feet hurt. Then I discovered Intermittent Fasting and the Low Carb Diet. At that point I was so bad off, I'd try anything. It took three days before I started to notice changes and in two weeks my feet and joints quit hurting. It took a little more than a year to go from level 2 Obese to normal weight. The two most important things I learned were are sugar is really bad for us and it's hidden in a lot of the foods we eat. The second is that Processed Foods are not healthy for you. Processed Foods contain sugar and other things that may taste good, but really mess up your body. Eating foods as they come from nature is far better than eating chemically modified foods that come out of a factory.
Good for you, Bob. Now even being hypothryroid doesn't stop me from keeping a good weight and muscle tone at almost 66 years old. I couldn't lose weight even on a super low cal diet, had fatty liver and was always tired, was addicted to sugar for many years. Not anymore. I can easily lift a 50# feed bag over my shoulder, hoof it to the barn, hold it with one hand while I open the storage can and drop it in. Women need to be able to manage their lives better! My husband is a disabled veteran with serious back issues so I must be healthy.

Dandelion greens are cheap & amazing at alkalizing our bodies against cancer. I add apples or pineapple to sweeten….then lemon & a bunch of ginger for some zing 🙌🏼
Whatever the government tells me to do I always do the opposite. "limit red meat and butter" translates in my head as eat lots of red meat and butter. I started cooking with butter and then slowly found ways to increase it by adding it to my tea and coffee and it changed my life. Within a week I lost my last 6 pounds of weight and reduced inflammation in my body just from eating fat. I get through about 500 grams of butter a week. Whenever I feel stressed I have anything from a teaspoon to tablespoon of fat frequently throughout the day and feel great. My calories have increased massively but my weight remains stable at 10 stones

@@joanneclark8256 Look up nutrition by victoria, durianrider, and rice diet on youtube. Basically keep your fat intake 10 grams a day max. Then eat 4.4 grams of carbs per lb of body weight. Eat all the sugar you want from morning till 4 pm. Do not calorie count or restrict them that will cause thyroid issues. Its an unlimited calorie lifestyle. If you get too skinny then re introduce fattier food. and vice versa. Also look up metabolic damage.
I’m no doctor, but my wife and I have used intermittent fasting, keto, and are now mostly carnivore and we are both healthier than we have ever been in our lives. In less than 4 months, she has lost 35lbs and I have lost almost 80. Hangry is no longer a thing in our house. My joint pain is mostly gone and my wife’s crohns symptoms are almost completely gone.
I know its hard to believe I don't really love meat. I'm one of those people that orders well done or says light meat, extra lettuce on my sandwich. Its still hard for me to believe that just eating meat is good for me when veggies and fruit have so many vitamins. I really liked the Paleo diet and true Paleo is lean meat not eating pounds of bacon lol. I think the psychology of eating it part of it too. carnivore got me off antidepressants and cleared my skin up permanently. I am healthier in every way, even my skin, hair, nails and curves are better now.
I remember sitting in my doctor's office crying because I was struggling with losing weight. I was exercising and following the standard diet advice. My doctor told me that I needed to stop eating cookies, cake, and candy. That's when I burst into tears because I didn't consume those things in the 1st place and those weren't the reasons why I got fat. That is when I decided that I was done listening to Doctors. I found out about the keto diet and it changed my life. I wasn't hungry. I wasn't crying myself to sleep at night. I didn't have to take sleeping pills to make myself sleep, so I didn't go over my calories. The change literally happened overnight. Feeling like I was starving one day to being so full I couldn't even consume a 1000 calories.
I eat a mix of meat, seafood, veggies, fruits, tubers rice, and on occasion, bread/cheese/ insects. Rarely desserts. I've never had an issue with weight. The only time I gained weight or lost excess amounts was either following fast diets. Yes, I gained weight on keto and also lost a lot on vegan, but was unhealthy in general. Take the best of both worlds, refrain from processed foods, and you're good.
@@bygrace24 I would suggest checking out Nutrition With Judy and be ready to do the opposite of everything we've been told. Eat fat without the carbs (sugar) and you will start burning all the stored fat...it's like magic. I did the "keto" thing for a while and made substitutes for the carbs I missed, but that was a waste of time. It's hard to give up any addiction cold turkey and stopping carbs abruptly is not without discomfort. It really doesn't take to long and if you like Bacon, Eggs, Butter and Beef that's all you need to get started. You never need to be hungry...just eat zero carbs until you're full and go for a walk every day if you're able. You can do it and I will pray for you 🙏
Keto for 3.5 years. Helped me fight off my mucosal melanoma, which based on genetics grows on insulin and glucose. Much healthier than I was in middle age. I went back and looked at my old bloodwork and it certainly tells the story of the impact high carbs had on my health and metabolism. My bloodwork now is pretty good, low inflammation and prediabetes gone. Cancer in remission for almost 2 years!
I laughed at the 'one egg equals 5 cigarettes'. I'm in my 50s, and for more than 30 years, I've had 2 or 3 eggs a day for breakfast. Not only am I not diabetic, each time I get my blood work done, my doctor moans about my cholesterol numbers: he wishes he had them. He wants to know my secret. Mind you, I raise my own chickens that are free-range, so the majority of my eggs are home-grown. I've turned to a very simple diet: I eat real food: meat, vegetables, fruit and berries. I avoid sugar, seed oils, flour and grains. I have no health conditions and don't take any medication. EDITED to Say: I have always eaten the yoke even when the propaganda said it was bad for us.

Same here. I went carnivore as a last resort thinking I’d go back to a more standard diet in a week. But I felt so good and got off all asthma meds/migraine/heartburn/allergy drugs so I stayed carnivore.
I don't do strict keto. I switched to doing no grains at all and limiting my sugars. I do still eat a bit of fruit, sweet potatoes and low sugar chocolate in a very small amount. The mood changes are remarkable. I don't think I will go back to eating grains.
Wonderful, thank you. I had great success in 2011-2014 on keto. All PCOS symptoms reversed and was able to conceive my son after years of infertility. I stopped keto while breastfeeding under doctor’s orders and kinda lived non-keto allowing carb creep to set in. Here I am, back in 2023, keto again, and feeling the best I have in years. These docs and videos offer much support and reassurance- thank you again.
Keto diet help me get my life back. I lost 45 pounds on keto diet. I dropped A1c from 6.8 to 5.3. I have MS and doing well feeling better and getting stronger. I now am low carb lifestyle. Strength training. I finally have control of my health.
All it took for me to get was a glucometer and reflect on the stress I had while I worked and had debt. Now that I’m free of debt, retired, exercising more and watching what I eat, my triglycerides, cholesterols, blood sugar are all normal and I’ve lost 35 lbs.

I have gone to a rheumatologist for over 15 years and have slowly gotten worse arthritis every year…until I started eating clean mostly meat I have started reversing all my symptoms up to I now lift weights/run and feel 20 years younger… I don’t believe in Dr’s much less the government.
I initially started off intermittent fasting and eating whatever I wanted mostly healthy though. And suddenly I learn about keto and decided to give it a try to maximize my fitness goals. One thing I learned is that the excruciating hunger I had with intermittent fasting decreased immensely once I implemented keto. I can go hours without eating and not even feel hungry. The stubborn belly fat that I had at the lower portion of my stomach is practically 95% gone. And it looks 100% gone when I wake up in the morning and first look in the mirror. My parents think I'm crazy yet they're the ones who carry around more body fat which makes me laugh but they're stuck in their ways unfortunately.
Yes. I discovered 16:8 IF 3 months before I discovered keto. Though my body adapted to it fairly easily, it wasn't until I got into keto that I really felt IF was easy. Now some 5 years on and I can easily go 18-20 h of fasting without even feeling a hunger pang. I eat 2 meals a day and though I go off keto for months at a time, I always come back to it.
I started keto and intermittent fasting around the 4th of July and so far I’ve lost 40 lbs. it was so easy for me to adapt to. I rarely get hungry and I get full a lot faster. I do not eat “keto” processed foods. I am not obsessed with food like I was before, it was all I thought about. No sugar, little to no carbs, no cravings since the beginning. I have so much more energy and waiting to do blood work to see how much my glucose has gone down.

With eleven months left on my weight-loss journey, I was able to try out an anti-gravity treadmill to see what it will feel like at my target weight. It was absolutely un(freaking)believable. I am 100% certain that people would begin to make significant changes, if they could only get a small glimpse of how good it feels to lose a major amount of unhealthy weight.
Ooooh that sounds amazing! Where does one find an anti-gravity treadmill? I'd love to know what it would feel like at goal weight. I've made a lot of progress but I have a long ways to go.
The "meat" most people eat today is not the same meat our ancestors ate, which was pastured raised with no roundup-ready corn in the diet. No mention of this in the doc but overall good to debunk the myth that saturated fats/meats are bad.
Well, advocates of carnivore diets say to eat whatever meat you can afford. It'll be better for you than if you didn't. If everyone had to look for grass-fed and pastured chicken, eggs, etc., in order to do it properly, it could keep some from trying it. I heard about regenerative agriculture about 3 years ago, however, and I've been trying to support those farmers doing this superlative method of growing things ever since with my dollars. And I eat out a lot less than I used to, so I can afford it. Oh, btw, I've lost about 40 pounds over the past year with little to no hunger or suffering involved. The last 10 are taking some time, but I'm very happy with the results so far.
Glyphosate/Roundup is in all the plants you eat as well so it's not really a meat thing it's a whole food chain thing. The only way to avoid is go organic and know how the crops are being raised. Some organic crops can still be sprayed as well.
Look at the old photos of people from before 1960’s. Rather than asking what to eat, look for what people back then did not eat - seed oils, all modern food additives and above all, vast amounts of sugar.
They weren’t getting their bloods done and analysing everything. Just live and stop worrying. Being a healthy weight is the main key indicator of health.
I have been screaming about studies like this when I read them for years. Where they say families who eat dinner together the kids do better in school. Well maybe it is not just becaue they eat dinner together but parents who want to have family dinners are probably also more likely to be more tuned into the family and maybe help their kids with schoolwork, or they provide nutritional home cooked meals to their family. They might even be more likely to make sure the kid go to bed at a decent hour vs a single mom who works two jobs or evenings so the kids have to get their own food together and get themselves to bed etc etc etc. You have to control for these things to say families who eat dinner together have children who perform better in school.
I think what you say has a lot of truth. How it's the fact that the parents who are more in tune with their kids then the children will perform better in school. My parents of 5 kids cooked all of our meals growing up in the 70's and 80's...a Betty Crocker type of diet. My mom was an excellent baker and we had no shortage of gourmet goodies. Dinner time was a nice routine- that's where we learned manners and did our chores. In hindsight, I think that was extremely important for us to have that routine. We stayed pretty healthy and all of us did our best in school. I didn't make great grades but I sure put a lot of time and effort into trying. I wanted to measure up to my siblings and friends,...so, that was a big influence. We also never ate out (too expensive) and we were not allowed to buy junk food too much because my parents were money-conscious. The junk food was costing more than the fresh food! Then, the 90's rolled in and junk food got cheaper than fresh food! My dad started buying sodas and chips, etc... not good, especially when everyone thought animal fat was unhealthy! When I started puberty in the late 80's, I had a number of health issues pop up. That got me trying to eat healthier - so no junk food and trying to stay away from mom's bakes, lol. That was hard. I tried vegetarian, vegan, raw, etc... It wasn't until 2002 when I learned about low carb and that starting my day with protein made a huge difference in my health. And later, oh the joy of finding out good fats are important - yay! Eating the protein and fat helped me stay pretty healthy and not have the tormenting food cravings. I've been doing keto, carnivore, keto... for the past 5 years and I love it. Sorry for my rambling...
Bob, you got it! For me at about 16 hours of fasting my energy level starts kicking in like an energy gauge. I’ve been an on and off again IF (intermittent faster for about 2 years. Things like holidays and special occasions throw me off. Then I’m sluggish and bloated. Struggling to get back on the IF routine. Your description is the best! Thank you! Me too. I now fast 48 hours a week, Mon & Tuesday every week, and limit other days eating to 2 meals a day low carb/keto. The feeling of more energy when eating "light" ie marginal calorie input is so positively different, and has no detrimental effect on my weight training sessions. Good luck. Good life style. PS i Also limit my alcohol intake to only drinking wine at weekends.
Doing carnivore for over a year now, lost a fair few waist sizes and put on a lot of muscle. Never going back to eating carbs and sugars ever again. I'm stronger and fitter now in my 40's than i was in my 20's.
My BMI was the highest ever but I couldn’t kick the carbs until I realized one day: why do I wear sunblock and hats to protect my skin but I’m not protecting my insides? Suddenly, avoiding sugar/flours made so much sense to me. Lost 20lbs with ease.

I started a keto diet Christmas 2018. My A1C was not in the pre-diabetic range. I was eating according to the Canada Food Guide, eating a ton of real whole grains (oat groats not oatmeal, wheat berries etc.),low fat, all added fats were seed oils & very little meat. I was 35 lbs overweight, low energy, fell asleep after dinner every night & worst of all, had excruciating pain in my hip & knee. The pain was so bad I had to physically lift my left leg out of the truck with my arms after a 1 hour drive on a work day. I knew if I didn't do something I'd have to retire and I love my work and wasn't read to retire. I was desperate to reduce inflammation so I binge watched YT videos for days. Low Carb Down Under in particular has many science based lectures that really helped. Of course I found Dr. Westman, Nina Teicholz, Gary Taubes, Diet Doctor, Dr. Boz, Dr. Shawn Baker etc. The 35lbs came off in just 3 or 4 months. I had a massive reduction in pain. By 2021 the pain was 95% gone and remains that way. This summer, at age 61, I was able to do some 5-6 hour hikes in the Banff area, with 1000+m of elevation & slopes of 15-35°. This was unimaginable for me just a couple of years ago. I had control over my hunger for the first time in 30 years. I no longer snacked & went from eating 5-6x a day to eating 1-2x a day ad libitum. I was ketogenic for about a year & transitioned to a low carb diet where I eat 25-100g of carbs a day. I still get most of my calories from animal products but do eat vegetables on the side including seasonally. Squashes are in season now so I will buy a dozen or so and make meat based squash soups to can for the winter and roast some for freezing as well. I will eat apples for a couple of months. I ate a lot of peaches when they were available in Calgary & Vancouver this summer etc. No processed foods, no starches, almost no grains (a spoonful here or there with my Filipina gf) , no carb heavy meals etc. When I eat out or with friends I simply order the lowest carb thing available. At friend's I just eat the meat and a bit of this or that. I intermittent fast every day now and can go an entire day without food easily. IMO & in my case I think it was hormone disregulation & lack of nutrients that led to my constant hunger. The lack of natural fat and protein was a big problem as well along with the inflammation caused by the plethora of carbohydrate sources & the seed oils I had in my diet. Inflammation + constant hunger = obesity + pain. The hormonal reset & nutrient dense diet led to reduced hunger which led to weight loss. Eating the appropriate diet for me led to reduced inflammation which combined with the weight loss led to a near elimination of the pain in my hip & knee. I'm 61 and more active than I was at 41. This can work for anyone IMO. The keys are eliminated all seed oils and processed foods no matter which path you take, be it keto or just low carb.
@@SamanthaSweetAnne I do keep a high quality olive oil on hand but rarely use it. Most of my large cuts of meat are oven roasted. Some I do in the crock pot like ribs which I then will put under the broiler for a few minutes to brown. When I do fry or saute something I use beef tallow or lard that I rendered myself. To make eggs I usually put a thin layer of tallow/lard then some butter. I've gotten used to using a laser thermometer and never get the pan over 400F. Rendering fat is very easy. Just use very low heat on the stove top (the fat should be barely bubbling) after cutting the fat into small cubes (1/4")& let it go for several hours. You can also do it in a crock pot or in the oven. As a bonus you will have a batch of small cracklins left over after rendering. Fry them up separately in the following days. They are delicious! I also scoop the fat off the top of bone broth that I made and canned and use that for cooking as well. If you cook something in the crock pot and don't use the liquid with the meal, pour it into a bowl and let it cool. Scoop the fat off the top to use for cooking and save the liquid for cooking something else to retain the flavour or use it instead of water in your next batch of bone broth. I don't waste anything. The cooked bones from the broth go to my friend's dogs...lol.
@@tristincabezas6291 The problem with olive and avocado oil is that most of them are adulterated with other cheap oils. Also, like any other oil, they are subject to oxidation over time. Coconut oil cannot be adulterated with other oils as far as I know otherwise they would not be solid at room temperature. Basically if you are paying grocery store prices for your oil it's most likely not what it says on the label.
@@wendyscott8425 It also has a higher protein to fat ratio which some people do better on. Some people actually get kicked out of ketosis with the higher protein.
I found I stressed much and struggled with carbs. Eating meat, butter, eggs, and sometimes cheese helps me to simply eat till I'm full and remain fine till I get hungry again.
Switching to Keto a few years back has been the best decision i made in a long time. I was able to lose 80 pounds and keep my weight stable, i have more energy, i sleep better, many of my allergies went away and many other positive effect. Man the carbs were killin me. Once i cut them so low and all sugar, no more fast food or seed oils i lost 30 lbs in 3 months. Im never hungry after eating around noon and if i am i eat again at 6 its so easy. (For me) i wish i knew/did this in my 20s. Better late than never
Funny thing how Alzheimer's is considered as a type 3 diabetes as its caused by the brain's inability to utilize glucose as its main source of fuel. There have been studies in which putting these patients on a ketogenic diet greatly slowed the progression of the disease. The government gives you food guidelines....everyone gets fat and sick. This is another example why the government should stay out of things. Was keto for 3 years and now carnivore.... never felt ,looked,or been more healthy in my life.
It's not all the government's fault. People have insinuated themselves into the decision-making process and have extreme biases, like Seventh-Day Adventists who believe everyone on earth should be a vegetarian. It's really kind of a mess, but just know that the food guidelines were not developed by unbiased researchers and have been heavily influenced by money.

I just watched this video. In the past 8 months I have lost 60 lbs doing much of what this video talks about. I ate fresh unprocessed beef, chicken or eggs, green vegetables not cooked in vegetable oil but with butter added, no juice, some cheese -- no bread or pasta and minimal carbs-- and some fruit. Very sustainable. Also intermittent fasting. Lastly, I walk almost every morning 5 miles (about 90 minutes). Yes, "Keto" can work but you have to stick to it. As they said, its a lifestyle change, not a "diet". Now I am about 10 lbs from my goal weight. My point: It can be done.

I'm doing Keto and IF for maybe the better part of 2 weeks only and instead of thinking "I want to treat myself finally after having lost xy amount of weight (to sweets, cookies, chips, you name it) / sticking to it all this time" I'm much more in the "I can't wait how I'll look in half a year" category which was never the case for me in my past attempts of losing weight and reaching my fitness related goals (not keto). Im in a much better headspace because this is so easily sustainable and I dont have the constant feeling of having to force myself not to eat all these carb heavy treats because I dont have cravings for them.
As long as documentaries, doctors and food industries promote eating more vegetables and less processed foods, I'm happy. Whether that's with supplements or not, meat or not, carbs or not, I don't care. Whatever works for people. As long as the core of the message is fresh unprocessed foods, that would already solve so many problems.
Seems like problem with vegetarian/vegan is they often tend to still eat a lot of highly processed foods. I think a lot of different diets can work for different people as long as you stick to whole, real foods.
If ppl can eliminate processed foods, they’ll get 80% of the health benefits that are our birthright. Of course, they would have to recognise what ‘processed’ means...!
I feel I have to add a comment. In October 2022 I saw Eric Westman and Jason Fung on TH-cam. After watching them I went on a one week fast and then started a ketogenic diet. I have had hypertension since I was 28 ( 38:years). In the last year I have come off meds for hypertension,cured my ibs and started sleeping better. What can be wrong with that?
I was raised eating vegan for religious reasons and for so long I mistook my introverted personality for lethargy from a high-carb and high-sugar diet. Not until two years ago did I experiment with fasting and start to see the improvement in my mental clarity, I decided to push that limit. I fasted regularly and ate both a high-carb diet and a high-fat diet in my eating window at times. I switched up my fat sources by replacing vegetable oils with butter and extra-virgin olive oil. Soon enough, I noticed I nearly passed out a few times during fasting hours when I was carb-dependent despite my sedentary lifestyle. In contrast, I see a huge difference in vitality and liveliness when I'm on a low-carb diet, which is what I always wanted to achieve. Another benefit is that it also helped me step up my fasting game: I can fast longer and longer and have far much more energy to exercise and enjoy lifting weights. When I went back home for the first time after two years away, my mom couldn't recognize me at all. For sure I'll never look back on a high-carb diet in the name of veganism but I really hope to lead as an example for my mom to make changes in our family diet since it's a very fine line between eating for better health and throwing away a big part of your religious practice. So far my mom is skinny fat and blows up most of her inflammatory markers, recently discovered a tumor on one of her breasts. My dad got NAFLD when he turned 43 in spite of his work being labor-intensive and his daily bodyweight exercise. Hope I'll have enough time and patience to influence my parents before it's too late.
When I cared for a Hindu woman I was astounded how many carbs she ate because she was an obese diabetic 2, plus no meat of course! My Friend, her daughter, was starting to test pre-diabetic and was told to exercise to control it. I believe India promotes vegetarianism as part of their religion in order to control their massive populace. Also my friend had a lot of her teeth removed!
This is exactly my experience. I have ADHD. I've never been overweight. My grandmother worked in a health food store owned by my uncle. Turns out my grandmother was right beyond what anyone gave her credit for. Butter. Milk. Peanuts (minus the veg oil, which I'm now learning about). It's obvious to me now. My memory has improved. I've never had a good memory. I'm able to focus. I can pay attention to three things at once. I can feel it. I recently ran two miles and felt like I could keep going. When I first started playing pickleball I couldn't run a quarter mile. Recently I started shifting fat/carb ratios and while it's only incremental because I've been exercising and still eating some carbs/sugar, literally every aspect of my existence has improved. I've experimented and gone back and forth between carbs/fat. When I go from high fat to high carbs, I can feel it. It takes me awhile to recover. I go back to high fat and my mind becomes consistent again. I've seen nothing that proves me wrong. I've seen evidence that almost completely debunks the documentary Forks Over Knives. Their own studies contradict their film if you look into it. I'm convinced this is the biggest lie ever perpetrated. And all it's doing is fueling profits for the corporations, from the food industry all the way to the ER/medical procedures. The meat industry was weaker than the combined forces of the other industries. The body is a complex machine. The only simple answer in all this is profit.
In only 4 months on keto, I went from 25% body fat to 15%. I actually had to increase my carbohydrates because I was losing more weight than I wanted 😅 love keto!
I think your diet highly depends on your overall lifestyle. I was on a keto diet when I was sedentary and not active at all, I was able to maintain weight and felt good. When I started lifting weights, I needed carbs in order to gain the muscle I needed and exercising made me feel so much better. I think sticking to single ingredient Whole Foods 90% of the time is a good rule of thumb, to stay healthy overall and I think which method you choose depends on what your lifestyle is.

I've been eating a dozen eggs a day for 30 years. The first year, I drank that many raw eggs every day and I gained a bunch of muscle after being a stick all my life. Now I am 54 and I still eat a dozen eggs a day. I am still in great shape and do the same things I did 30 years ago. Nobody ever guesses my age. I'm not stopping. Oh, and I don't have diabetes or anything for that matter. Imagine that.
I am full carnivore and at 58 years old I am on no medications and my weight is nearly at my ideal weight. I swim for 1 hour a day and completely reject most of what doctors told me.
low amounts of fats (sat/unsat) and carbs has no effects on diseases. it is genetic, enviromental, caused by obesity/poor diet, drugs, no excercise and lack of sleep.
I encourage your health journey. However, based on everything I have read, losing 1.5 pounds per day, is concerning and perhaps also water weight. You feel great, and that's important. If you are losing visceral fat (fat that surrounds the organs) then you are likely doing well. The scale does not tell the whole story. I wish you the best of health.
I started keto which sort of naturally lead to intermittent fasting. At first not on purpose I just stopped being hungry most of the time. And now I kinda have my meal around noon and then some coffee with mct oil or coconut oil and butter or green tea and I'm going all day. I lost 55 pounds in about 4 months and now it's slowed down a lot but it's still slowly coming off. After I had my third baby I had such a hard time getting back to fitness, hated how I looked and felt and after I started keto I just have energy all day. I wake up at 5 to make myself do some lifting and at least 30m of light cardio before I start my day. Full time student, mom of 3, part time food delivery and going into the medical field. Not entirely sure what I want to do but I'm about to get my first science degree in hand! Keto changed my life.
Type 2 diabetic in remission because of the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting. A1c went from a 8.4 to a 5.9. Feel better in every way. It works for me!
Love my saturated fats! I love butter from grass-fed cows, organic coconut oil, and ghee. I don’t like the taste of olive oil but that’s a good one too but the real ones are very expensive.
Once I read in the newspaper about my area, the paper stated that people in the interior ate more read meat since they tended to have more farmed base economy than people in the coast. The newspaper reported that people who ate more meat died more of heart desease. This statement left me puzzled so I did a bit of digging on my own, it turned up the life expectancy between the two areas was not that different, the people on the coast died more of cancer....it is so easy to twist the narrative.....be sceptical about everything you hear in nutrition...in fact be sceptical about everything you hear!!!?
I don’t feel good eating less then 60 grams of carbs a day, I feel anxiety and panicked. The best range for me is between 60-100 grams a day. If I eat more I get anxiety too. Everyone have a range where feel the best.
Yes me too. I went very low for over 6 months and started passing out from low blood sugar. I needed to have small servings of starch at each meal to correct this. Thankfully I found Barry Groves book 'Natural health & weight loss ' who recommended 60 - 75 g if carb per day. I went on to lose 31kgs by that method.
Heroin addicts will also tell you they feel terrible if they don't have at least a little every day, too. It's called withdrawal, and carbs withdrawal is really nasty. You gotta power through it, then power through the keto flu, and 30 days in you'll likely feel amazing.
After trying both lifestyles while heartily and my experience of people I honestly believe that I thrive better off a low carb - high protein diet. At the same time I have Vegan friends that are very healthy-fit vegans. I believe everyone’s different and you need to see what works for you as in individual.

Do what works for you. I am T2D and have been low carb for years, with management entirely through diet, i.e. no medications. Would only lose a few pounds a year. After a diagnosis of osteoporosis, doctor put me on vitamin D3 (which is a hormone) and lost 12 lbs. in two months. I went even lower carb, but not keto, along with time restricted eating, and have lost 65 lbs. in the last 13 months. Last A1c was 5.2. I'm convinced the weight loss is due to hormones, but my doctor dismissed this.
The problem is that some people don't know what works for them because they are young and metabolic issues are cumulative and progressive. So, their labs still look fine, and they think they are healthy just because the issues have shown up in the labs yet. Sometimes that takes decades. This includes both thin people who think that they are healthy just because they are thin, and that they can eat whatever kind of crap they want...as long as they stay in a calorie deficit, and just because they are young and thin and their labs are still fine, they will never have to suffer any consequences when they get older, for trashing their bodies when they are still young. Also a lot of morbidly obese people who are young, have pretty much the same mindset...thinking just because their labs look fine now, they can be healthy at hundreds of pounds overweight, and eat whatever they want, with no health consequences down the road.
The truth is that our Bodies never forget what we have done to them.(ie scar tissue) and though we can recover and thrive , the results will remain...still.have all the skin from my obesity and the neuropathy located in hands and feet although l lost the fat and got my D.M. under control with keto and intermittent fasting!

I was keto (avoiding butter, bacon, cheeses, beef whenever I could) for a year and felt physically and mentally GREAT!!! Lots of veggies, EVOO, salmon, chicken and sardines. Up until a week ago I was vegan for 3+ years and I’ve felt the worse in comparison. I’m not lactose intolerant, I’ve never been obese, my cholesterol continues to be great with either lifestyle choice. I will continue with a diet suitable for my body.
I just yesterday started keto after 4 years as a vegan! For similar reasons-fighting weight and hunger, living with IBS because of all the fiber, and a pervasive inexplicable depression. Just yesterday morning said “ENOUGH!!’
I actually was diagnosed with prediabetes about a year or 2 ago, so I heard of the Keto diet, and started to do it, and not only did I reverse my diagnosis but lost weight improved my cholesterol along with a whole host of other benefits, but because of my constant cravings of beans potatoes and just some carbs recently I started to buy back in to the fruits and carbs myth, but quickly realizing that for me my body carbs are a no go.. I feel bloated gain 2 lbs. back and feel sluggish, so long story short I'm going back to Keto, and perhaps I can find a Keto provider that is willing to help me with the needed blood test for example insulin resistance to see if I'm metabolically healthy enough to not be on such a strict Ketogenic diet. only because it is very limited in what food group you can have.
This is puzzling. I've never seen the US government recommend a vegan diet. They seem to be more on the beef and dairy side, with the historical 4 food groups, and the "Got Milk?" campaign. A lot of the soy produced does go to oil, but much to cattle feed, too. I think we can ALL agree that refined oils and junk/processed food is bad for you.
I've spent nearly a lifetime (since the age of 6) jumping from diet to diet, following the advice of experts, only to have that advice reversed over and over, only to end up with Type 2 diabetes, morbid obesity, and hypertension, joint and muscle pain, headaches, etc. Now in my 50's, I've discovered that I have a huge amount of food allergies and sensitivities. As soon as I cut all of those foods out of my diet, my weight began to fall off, blood sugar and blood pressure came down to normal levels, and I'm being taken off of medications. Eat what your body can handle. These one-size-fits-all diets and recommendations are not the way to health for all people. Once I learned what my own body needs, I've never felt so healthy.
Yes, I had to check to make sure I didn’t write this. The idea of finding what your body needs matters. I started taking car of all my stuff at 71 years old. Now I’m 75 and I’m 20 lbs from my target weight but metabolically correct and without medication 💊.
I almost became a diabetic while consuming all kinds of cereals like Honey Nut Cheerios and Kellogg's' Raisin Bran daily. I stopped drinking milk, dairy products, breads, processed foods, ultra-processed foods, juices, and carbs with a high sugar index. I basically eat a little bit of broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, lettuce, avocados, and lots of meat. I am no longer considered (or diagnosed) as pre-diabetic and lost the 25 pounds that I was overweight with.
I have hypothiroidism (35 years old), Ive already try a few system to cope with the extreme tireness and brain fog mostly, obviously with the help and guide of a certified dietitian and the thing I learn is that balance is the only thing that helps me. Gluten free-paleo-intermittent fasting, all of those were a nightmare for me. Trying those things were the worst. I felt like shit without bread or sugar. So, I decide not to waste money looking for the next new revolutionary diet that would help me and follow simple rules. Cook most I eat, include a lot of veggies and good protein sources, exercise weekly, limit sweets, treats, cut chips, crakers, white bread and take my vitamins.
I think the best way (so far) to get a pretty good picture of your health situation, is through blood work and how you spend 90% of your time. Those two together I believe, give you a pretty accurate idea of how your doing physically. In addition, cognitive health is also something we need to be practicing. Challenging our minds is important for growth and health. Lastly, emotional health and mental health are important as well. Our sympathetic nervous system has a significant impact on how we function and how we make decisions.
All true. But what the film did not address is the problem of poor quality fat. The film mentioned the problem of rancid seed oils, arguing that animal fat is better. But it does not address the problem of fats from sick animals, pumped with antibiotics, slaughtered in the meat industry, then the meat product pumped with chemicals, and put into the commerce stream. So, good health is reserved to people with disposable income willing to spend it on expensive farm-raised quality meat and dairy.

The more I understand keto diet and its benefits the more I wonder how come even today the what-so-called scientists, doctors, nutritionists can be so mean or ignorant to be against keto diet and even try their best to prevent the people or patient who need keto diet from practicing it. Why?
I saw a cardiologist today as part of my routine healthcare. My doctor was concerned about my high cholesterol. My latest total cholesterol was 370. …yes, 370. I saw the doc today after having an echo. I got a clean heart health report. No atherosclerosis, healthy heart, EF was 65% which is perfect. I have NEVER eaten a low fat diet. I limit sugar and processed foods. I eat eggs and cheese and butter regularly. I’m 58 yo. I smoked for 45 years. I did quit 6 months ago because I wanted to. It’s important to do your own research. These doctors out here know little to nothing about nutrition. Most of them are just glorified pill pushers. I don’t take statins and I never will. Try and stay away from sugar and processed foods as much as possible. Move your body. And listen to what these folks have to say about the nefarious practices of the food industry and government “health” agencies.
@@KenJackson_US unfortunately, I learned a lot of what I know while caring for my parents and watching their health deteriorate under the care of specialists. I don’t take statins because I think they contributed to my dads early death at 66yo. It’s complicated. But I did a ton of my own research about heart disease and cholesterol and I’m very confident that I do not need to take it. I hope you can recover from any damage done.

Best of luck! Maybe it was just my bad luck, but I was just your age with only slightly elevated LDL cholesterol (Untreated, I thought I must have the good, fluffy LDL because I had excellent triglycerides), ate a healthful diet which included plenty of vegetables, meat, chicken, eggs, cheese, and butter, low amounts of refined sugar and no sugar or artificially sweetened drinks). I had a spectacular echo the day before a plaque ruptured in my LAD (the infamous widow maker) causing a heart attack. I had no symptoms until the sudden event at a wedding I was directing. Thankfully, the aspirin I CHEWED before being whisked away to the ER kept the attack from causing permanent heart muscle damage. It kept thinned blood flowing around the clot to the muscle. It bought time to get a stent placed in that precious coronary artery which fed the whole front wall of the heart. An echo BTW does not show blockage or plaque that's ready to burst through a weakened coronary vessel wall. I believe if I'd had an arteriogram, it too would have been clear, because the passage was clear until the plaque broke through the vessel wall and clotted off the day of the event. The day before, I let a friend who was in school to learn to do echoes practice on me while being overseen by my interventionalist cardiologist husband. Fast forward 11 years to 2023. I now eat whole, real, unprocessed food, plant based, no added oils or refined sugar way of life. Lots of greens, beans, whole grains, fruits, veggies including starches such as potatoes. I say I eat from a different buffet table than Whole 30, Mediterranean, Atkins 40, Paleo, South Beach or any other number of diet types I'd entertained over the years. There was a learning curve, but I finally got rid of angina that plagued me in the years following the heart attack. And I've got good numbers now to show for it. Difficult to clean oil stained stove tops, pots, pans, and casserole dishes (think Dawn commercials) give an indication of what's happening to the delicate epithelial walls of blood vessels which stay at 98.6 degrees.
I’m following my mom’s advice: ALL things in moderation. She rarely snacked. She lived to be 102, mentally coherent, able to get about, she was NEVER a vegan or vegetarian. We ate meat 6 days a week. And she had one serving of each meal. She was never obese.
Your mum sounded sensible, at the end of the day you'll never stop people eating sugary food etc same as you'll never eradicate drug taking, alcohol and so forth, you've just got to educate them how to partake sensibly and in moderation, videos such as this won't real change a thing interesting as it is
Shopping for and basing meals on whole foods or minimally processed ones, and cooking our own meals, eliminating sweetened beverages and not snacking around the clock would remedy 90% of the obesity and diabetes problem in the US. Anything ultra-processed is going to contain sugar of some form, and probably other unhealthy additives also.@glenmorgan4597
@@suprememasteroftheuniverse Your liver and kidneys are about to disagree, lol. Don't get me wrong, meat is very nutritious. But there are a bunch of micro-nutrients that you can mainly get from fruits and vegetables. We are omnivores, not carnivores. Remember that.
Your mindset, your thoughts, are the most important thing when it comes to health. Quit obsessing over what you eat and just eat real food till you are full. This was a really good documentary! I knew diets were all about money and what sells. Your body will tell you what you need. Avoid fad diets. If you develop food allergies, an elimination diet will cure those. I don't know why but eating all meat or eating just potatoes and nothing else will cure whatever is wrong with you. It doesn't matter which you choose. I've done them both and they both worked. I think when you get sick, keeping food simple will help your body heal itself. I personally feel better when I eat only meat but I like to garden so I end up eating a lot of raw vegtables. I have to watch that because it will upset my digestion so I just back off a little. Being happy and positive with lots of friends is the best thing for your health. Your mind is where it is at.
This documentary missed many opportunities to explain a bit more about the complex processes the body goes through when absorbing nutrients and the hormonal signals the body has to do to communicate with all it's organs
I was 285 lbs and now I'm 239lbs. The keto diet is amazing and I also fast 4 times a week. Feel amazing and I'm never hungry. Never going to go back to how I was.
It’s been 3 years since I started low carb diet. No more feeling sleepy and sluggish after meals. I feel great and have constant energy levels throughout the day.
Sleepy after meals would be nice compared to always feeling like I had managed to swallow a brick, which describes most of my life. On carnivore now, feel so much better.
I was on a vegan diet for close to three years. I was diagnosed with T2D. I had always follwed the LFHC guide lines prior to going with a plant based diet. The vegan diet just made things wworse. I cut out all the grains (whole or otherwise), sugars, and have gone to 20g or less of carbs per day. I added eggs, ghee, cheese, meat and fish to my diet. Now I am off all the diabetic medications now! My A1c went from 9.8% down to 5.2%. I like veggies, but my instinal track doesn't get along well with the fiber. So I consume very little foods with fiber. Interestingly enough, I didn't have intestinal issues until I went plant based.
You must have not eaten a good vegan diet. Because that is the most healthy diet as long as you're eating healthy plant-based foods, not Oreos or other junk foods that don't have meat or dairy.

I was at the healthiest BMI and exercising 2 times per week on a whole foods plant based diet. Here’s the deal, humans are meant to eat wild meat every once and a while, foraged bird eggs in the spring, acorns meal, roots, wild lettuce, some fish, berries, wild fruit in the summer. We are omnivores that should eat whole food that is recognizable (not oil) and we eat a year round diet not a year round summer and surplus meat diet.
The different diets are similar in that keto, vegan, vegetarian etc they cut out shit food and stress whole food whether you eat meat or not. So of course you feel better.
I agree but keto is very different. I wasn't eating the standard American diet prior to switching to keto. I was on a health kick and exercising because I was trying to lose weight. I was hungry all the time and used to cry myself to sleep at night because I because I was so hungry. I used to drug myself and take sleeping pills so that way I wouldn't consume more than 1600 a day. The next day I switched to a keto diet, and I barely was able to consume 1000 calories. I was so full. This was magic!!!! Obviously, if you're only able to eat a 1000 calories, you're going to hit your caloric deficit. My insulin levels dropped (i took blood measurements) and my body was able to access toward fat for fuel. The rest was history.
@@wendyscott8425 Hi Wendy. If you are talking about vegan food that tasted s....., if that was processed food, that is not vegan done right. A healthy vegan diet is based on whole, plant based foods. These processed vegan food alternatives are again, as pointed out in the video big business taking advantage of the unknowing consumer. They are full of chemicals and in my humble opinion, just not a healthy alterntative to whole foods. Consumer beware! It is much harder to make money on whole fresh foods than something processed that can sit on the shelf for weeks, months even years. The convience of chemical farming is much easier now than growing food without chemicals. It doesn't make it healthier. I think the key here to what Robin Harris's comment was "whole foods" not processed.
@@onejollyholly Nevertheless, from what I've learned, it is not possible to get all the nutrition we need on a vegan diet. People I know who were vegans for months were quite miserable, and I don't think they were eating a lot of processed foods, but they were hungry and tired all the time and had digestive problems with flatulence and several bowel movements a day. Who needs that? Two people I know broke their vegan diet with the biggest steak they could find at a fancy restaurant, and they are now doing just fine as keto/carnivores.
I’ll go by results. My personal results while following the food pyramid and eating the carbs and sugar, etc and I was 300 pounds. I am now keto and eating higher protein and fats and have dropped so much weight. I am now 265 and falling by the week. I’ll stay away from the sugars
My father is 95 and has an egg everyday. When I was told by the government to stop eggs eating eggs I begged him to stop. He said bullshit. He is still running around like a kid.

I listen to the official health advice... then do the opposite. Never been healthier. Lost 20 kg (~44 lb). Maintained muscle mass but body fat at 11%. Perfect blood work numbers too! Invert the food pyramid!

I found this documentary by doing my own research on my health and what I should do to heal my rheumatoid arthritis that started when I was young AF and now i'm 31 and it's gotten OUT OF CONTROL and I'm not even that old. It's fucking scary to change your diet when all you know is the shit they force down your throat... everywhere online "doctors" and "specialists" that were educated by the western system, all say to stay away from saturated fats and red meat... yet REAL PEOPLE who have healed autoimmune disease's ALL swear they healed by eating red meat and saturated fats.
I found dozens upon dozens of people sharing their testimonies, so I have faith that if I stick this through I will heal as well.

In the 1920’s some doctors recommended a ketogenic diet for type 1 with the interesting addition of either 1 or 2 oz of distilled spirits per day (can’t remember which). The alcohol had the benefit of resetting ketone production to zero, which prevented ketoacidosis. (I forget who cited it, but pretty sure it was Dr Boz). Interesting but anecdotal.

Same story, 43 yr old 6’ male, in April of this year I was 211 lbs, looking and feeling like a slug. Started working out 15 minutes per day 4-6 days a week with X3 bar and went carnivore a couple weeks later after learning about it watching the X3 videos. 5 months later and I’m 179 lbs, leaner, lighter, more muscular and excited to see where I can go from here. Like you, it just makes me sick that I didn’t do this decades ago….
I had reached a point where I was always hungry, I had no energy, I was tired all the time, and my joints and feet hurt. Then I discovered Intermittent Fasting and the Low Carb Diet. At that point I was so bad off, I'd try anything. It took three days before I started to notice changes and in two weeks my feet and joints quit hurting. It took a little more than a year to go from level 2 Obese to normal weight. The two most important things I learned were are sugar is really bad for us and it's hidden in a lot of the foods we eat. The second is that Processed Foods are not healthy for you. Processed Foods contain sugar and other things that may taste good, but really mess up your body. Eating foods as they come from nature is far better than eating chemically modified foods that come out of a factory.

Good for you, Bob. Now even being hypothryroid doesn't stop me from keeping a good weight and muscle tone at almost 66 years old. I couldn't lose weight even on a super low cal diet, had fatty liver and was always tired, was addicted to sugar for many years. Not anymore. I can easily lift a 50# feed bag over my shoulder, hoof it to the barn, hold it with one hand while I open the storage can and drop it in. Women need to be able to manage their lives better! My husband is a disabled veteran with serious back issues so I must be healthy.

Whatever the government tells me to do I always do the opposite. "limit red meat and butter" translates in my head as eat lots of red meat and butter. I started cooking with butter and then slowly found ways to increase it by adding it to my tea and coffee and it changed my life. Within a week I lost my last 6 pounds of weight and reduced inflammation in my body just from eating fat. I get through about 500 grams of butter a week. Whenever I feel stressed I have anything from a teaspoon to tablespoon of fat frequently throughout the day and feel great. My calories have increased massively but my weight remains stable at 10 stones

@@joanneclark8256 Look up nutrition by victoria, durianrider, and rice diet on youtube. Basically keep your fat intake 10 grams a day max. Then eat 4.4 grams of carbs per lb of body weight. Eat all the sugar you want from morning till 4 pm. Do not calorie count or restrict them that will cause thyroid issues. Its an unlimited calorie lifestyle. If you get too skinny then re introduce fattier food. and vice versa. Also look up metabolic damage.
I’m no doctor, but my wife and I have used intermittent fasting, keto, and are now mostly carnivore and we are both healthier than we have ever been in our lives. In less than 4 months, she has lost 35lbs and I have lost almost 80. Hangry is no longer a thing in our house. My joint pain is mostly gone and my wife’s crohns symptoms are almost completely gone.

I know its hard to believe I don't really love meat. I'm one of those people that orders well done or says light meat, extra lettuce on my sandwich. Its still hard for me to believe that just eating meat is good for me when veggies and fruit have so many vitamins. I really liked the Paleo diet and true Paleo is lean meat not eating pounds of bacon lol. I think the psychology of eating it part of it too. 4 months strict carnivore and it's all true. Didn't believe it at first (like most) but one day in my horrible gut got better (which is why I tried this way of eating). Went from 178 lbs to 160 (the weight I was in my 20's until my 40's).
carnivore got me off antidepressants and cleared my skin up permanently. I am healthier in every way, even my skin, hair, nails and curves are better now.
I remember sitting in my doctor's office crying because I was struggling with losing weight. I was exercising and following the standard diet advice. My doctor told me that I needed to stop eating cookies, cake, and candy. That's when I burst into tears because I didn't consume those things in the 1st place and those weren't the reasons why I got fat. That is when I decided that I was done listening to Doctors.
I found out about the keto diet and it changed my life. I wasn't hungry. I wasn't crying myself to sleep at night. I didn't have to take sleeping pills to make myself sleep, so I didn't go over my calories. The change literally happened overnight. Feeling like I was starving one day to being so full I couldn't even consume a 1000 calories.

I eat a mix of meat, seafood, veggies, fruits, tubers rice, and on occasion, bread/cheese/ insects. Rarely desserts. I've never had an issue with weight. The only time I gained weight or lost excess amounts was either following fast diets. Yes, I gained weight on keto and also lost a lot on vegan, but was unhealthy in general. Take the best of both worlds, refrain from processed foods, and you're good.

Eat fat without the carbs (sugar) and you will start burning all the stored fat...it's like magic. I did the "keto" thing for a while and made substitutes for the carbs I missed, but that was a waste of time. It's hard to give up any addiction cold turkey and stopping carbs abruptly is not without discomfort. It really doesn't take to long and if you like Bacon, Eggs, Butter and Beef that's all you need to get started. You never need to be hungry...just eat zero carbs until you're full and go for a walk every day if you're able. You can do it and I will pray for you 🙏

Keto for 3.5 years. Helped me fight off my mucosal melanoma, which based on genetics grows on insulin and glucose. Much healthier than I was in middle age. I went back and looked at my old bloodwork and it certainly tells the story of the impact high carbs had on my health and metabolism. My bloodwork now is pretty good, low inflammation and prediabetes gone. Cancer in remission for almost 2 years!

I laughed at the 'one egg equals 5 cigarettes'. I'm in my 50s, and for more than 30 years, I've had 2 or 3 eggs a day for breakfast. Not only am I not diabetic, each time I get my blood work done, my doctor moans about my cholesterol numbers: he wishes he had them. He wants to know my secret. Mind you, I raise my own chickens that are free-range, so the majority of my eggs are home-grown. I've turned to a very simple diet: I eat real food: meat, vegetables, fruit and berries. I avoid sugar, seed oils, flour and grains. I have no health conditions and don't take any medication.

Same here. I went carnivore as a last resort thinking I’d go back to a more standard diet in a week. But I felt so good and got off all asthma meds/migraine/heartburn/allergy drugs so I stayed carnivore.

I don't do strict keto. I switched to doing no grains at all and limiting my sugars. I do still eat a bit of fruit, sweet potatoes and low sugar chocolate in a very small amount. The mood changes are remarkable. I don't think I will go back to eating grains.

I had great success in 2011-2014 on keto. All PCOS symptoms reversed and was able to conceive my son after years of infertility. I stopped keto while breastfeeding under doctor’s orders and kinda lived non-keto allowing carb creep to set in.
Here I am, back in 2023, keto again, and feeling the best I have in years.

I have gone to a rheumatologist for over 15 years and have slowly gotten worse arthritis every year…until I started eating clean mostly meat I have started reversing all my symptoms up to I now lift weights/run and feel 20 years younger… I don’t believe in Dr’s much less the government.
I initially started off intermittent fasting and eating whatever I wanted mostly healthy though. And suddenly I learn about keto and decided to give it a try to maximize my fitness goals. One thing I learned is that the excruciating hunger I had with intermittent fasting decreased immensely once I implemented keto. I can go hours without eating and not even feel hungry. The stubborn belly fat that I had at the lower portion of my stomach is practically 95% gone. And it looks 100% gone when I wake up in the morning and first look in the mirror. My parents think I'm crazy yet they're the ones who carry around more body fat which makes me laugh but they're stuck in their ways unfortunately.
Yes. I discovered 16:8 IF 3 months before I discovered keto. Though my body adapted to it fairly easily, it wasn't until I got into keto that I really felt IF was easy. Now some 5 years on and I can easily go 18-20 h of fasting without even feeling a hunger pang. I eat 2 meals a day and though I go off keto for months at a time, I always come back to it.

I started keto and intermittent fasting around the 4th of July and so far I’ve lost 40 lbs. it was so easy for me to adapt to. I rarely get hungry and I get full a lot faster. I do not eat “keto” processed foods. I am not obsessed with food like I was before, it was all I thought about. No sugar, little to no carbs, no cravings since the beginning. I have so much more energy and waiting to do blood work to see how much my glucose has gone down.
Kito is the most unhealthy diet on the face of the earth. It's okay in the beginning, to lose weight, but most everything on a keto diet is full of death and very bad for your body long-term.
Heard keto might increase your cholesterol, but cholesterol doesn't increase your chance of getting heart attack. So don't be alarmed.

I did intermittent fasting and today I have lost 131 pounds and feel great this is a new way to eat for life or it will come back fast.
With eleven months left on my weight-loss journey, I was able to try out an anti-gravity treadmill to see what it will feel like at my target weight. It was absolutely un(freaking)believable. I am 100% certain that people would begin to make significant changes, if they could only get a small glimpse of how good it feels to lose a major amount of unhealthy weight.

The "meat" most people eat today is not the same meat our ancestors ate, which was pastured raised with no roundup-ready corn in the diet. No mention of this in the doc but overall good to debunk the myth that saturated fats/meats are bad.
Well, advocates of carnivore diets say to eat whatever meat you can afford. It'll be better for you than if you didn't. If everyone had to look for grass-fed and pastured chicken, eggs, etc., in order to do it properly, it could keep some from trying it. I heard about regenerative agriculture about 3 years ago, however, and I've been trying to support those farmers doing this superlative method of growing things ever since with my dollars. And I eat out a lot less than I used to, so I can afford it. Oh, btw, I've lost about 40 pounds over the past year with little to no hunger or suffering involved. The last 10 are taking some time, but I'm very happy with the results so far.
Glyphosate/Roundup is in all the plants you eat as well so it's not really a meat thing it's a whole food chain thing. The only way to avoid is go organic and know how the crops are being raised. Some organic crops can still be sprayed as well.

Look at the old photos of people from before 1960’s. Rather than asking what to eat, look for what people back then did not eat - seed oils, all modern food additives and above all, vast amounts of sugar.
They weren’t getting their bloods done and analysing everything. Just live and stop worrying. Being a healthy weight is the main key indicator of health.
Not many of them, back then, were overweight.
I have been screaming about studies like this when I read them for years. Where they say families who eat dinner together the kids do better in school. Well maybe it is not just becaue they eat dinner together but parents who want to have family dinners are probably also more likely to be more tuned into the family and maybe help their kids with schoolwork, or they provide nutritional home cooked meals to their family. They might even be more likely to make sure the kid go to bed at a decent hour vs a single mom who works two jobs or evenings so the kids have to get their own food together and get themselves to bed etc etc etc. You have to control for these things to say families who eat dinner together have children who perform better in school.

I think what you say has a lot of truth. How it's the fact that the parents who are more in tune with their kids then the children will perform better in school. My parents of 5 kids cooked all of our meals growing up in the 70's and 80's...a Betty Crocker type of diet. My mom was an excellent baker and we had no shortage of gourmet goodies. Dinner time was a nice routine- that's where we learned manners and did our chores. In hindsight, I think that was extremely important for us to have that routine. We stayed pretty healthy and all of us did our best in school. I didn't make great grades but I sure put a lot of time and effort into trying. I wanted to measure up to my siblings and friends,...so, that was a big influence. We also never ate out (too expensive) and we were not allowed to buy junk food too much because my parents were money-conscious. The junk food was costing more than the fresh food! Then, the 90's rolled in and junk food got cheaper than fresh food! My dad started buying sodas and chips, etc... not good, especially when everyone thought animal fat was unhealthy! When I started puberty in the late 80's, I had a number of health issues pop up. That got me trying to eat healthier - so no junk food and trying to stay away from mom's bakes, lol. That was hard. I tried vegetarian, vegan, raw, etc... It wasn't until 2002 when I learned about low carb and that starting my day with protein made a huge difference in my health. And later, oh the joy of finding out good fats are important - yay! Eating the protein and fat helped me stay pretty healthy and not have the tormenting food cravings. I've been doing keto, carnivore, keto... for the past 5 years and I love it. Sorry for my rambling...

Me too. I now fast 48 hours a week, Mon & Tuesday every week, and limit other days eating to 2 meals a day low carb/keto. The feeling of more energy when eating "light" ie marginal calorie input is so positively different, and has no detrimental effect on my weight training sessions. Good luck. Good life style.

Doing carnivore for over a year now, lost a fair few waist sizes and put on a lot of muscle. Never going back to eating carbs and sugars ever again. I'm stronger and fitter now in my 40's than i was in my 20's.

Keto is temporary not a permanent diet. A well balanced diet with complex unprocessed carbs is good for you.
You can eat anything for weight loss, along as you follow the simple rule of calories in vs calories out.
Keto works simply because you've cut out a large supply of calories.
I started a keto diet Christmas 2018. My A1C was not in the pre-diabetic range. I was eating according to the Canada Food Guide, eating a ton of real whole grains (oat groats not oatmeal, wheat berries etc.),low fat, all added fats were seed oils & very little meat. I was 35 lbs overweight, low energy, fell asleep after dinner every night & worst of all, had excruciating pain in my hip & knee. The pain was so bad I had to physically lift my left leg out of the truck with my arms after a 1 hour drive on a work day. I knew if I didn't do something I'd have to retire and I love my work and wasn't read to retire. I was desperate to reduce inflammation so I binge watched YT videos for days. Low Carb Down Under in particular has many science based lectures that really helped. Of course I found Dr. Westman, Nina Teicholz, Gary Taubes, Diet Doctor, Dr. Boz, Dr. Shawn Baker etc.
The 35lbs came off in just 3 or 4 months. I had a massive reduction in pain. By 2021 the pain was 95% gone and remains that way. This summer, at age 61, I was able to do some 5-6 hour hikes in the Banff area, with 1000+m of elevation & slopes of 15-35°. This was unimaginable for me just a couple of years ago. I had control over my hunger for the first time in 30 years. I no longer snacked & went from eating 5-6x a day to eating 1-2x a day ad libitum. I was ketogenic for about a year & transitioned to a low carb diet where I eat 25-100g of carbs a day. I still get most of my calories from animal products but do eat vegetables on the side including seasonally. Squashes are in season now so I will buy a dozen or so and make meat based squash soups to can for the winter and roast some for freezing as well. I will eat apples for a couple of months. I ate a lot of peaches when they were available in Calgary & Vancouver this summer etc. No processed foods, no starches, almost no grains (a spoonful here or there with my Filipina gf) , no carb heavy meals etc. When I eat out or with friends I simply order the lowest carb thing available. At friend's I just eat the meat and a bit of this or that.
I intermittent fast every day now and can go an entire day without food easily. IMO & in my case I think it was hormone disregulation & lack of nutrients that led to my constant hunger. The lack of natural fat and protein was a big problem as well along with the inflammation caused by the plethora of carbohydrate sources & the seed oils I had in my diet. Inflammation + constant hunger = obesity + pain. The hormonal reset & nutrient dense diet led to reduced hunger which led to weight loss. Eating the appropriate diet for me led to reduced inflammation which combined with the weight loss led to a near elimination of the pain in my hip & knee.
I'm 61 and more active than I was at 41. This can work for anyone IMO. The keys are eliminated all seed oils and processed foods no matter which path you take, be it keto or just low carb.

Olive oil is good....Avocado oil.....Coconut oil are great sources of good fat & 4 cooking 🍳 😋
@@SamanthaSweetAnne I do keep a high quality olive oil on hand but rarely use it. Most of my large cuts of meat are oven roasted. Some I do in the crock pot like ribs which I then will put under the broiler for a few minutes to brown. When I do fry or saute something I use beef tallow or lard that I rendered myself. To make eggs I usually put a thin layer of tallow/lard then some butter. I've gotten used to using a laser thermometer and never get the pan over 400F.
Rendering fat is very easy. Just use very low heat on the stove top (the fat should be barely bubbling) after cutting the fat into small cubes (1/4")& let it go for several hours. You can also do it in a crock pot or in the oven. As a bonus you will have a batch of small cracklins left over after rendering. Fry them up separately in the following days. They are delicious! I also scoop the fat off the top of bone broth that I made and canned and use that for cooking as well.
If you cook something in the crock pot and don't use the liquid with the meal, pour it into a bowl and let it cool. Scoop the fat off the top to use for cooking and save the liquid for cooking something else to retain the flavour or use it instead of water in your next batch of bone broth.
I don't waste anything. The cooked bones from the broth go to my friend's dogs...lol.
@@tristincabezas6291 The problem with olive and avocado oil is that most of them are adulterated with other cheap oils. Also, like any other oil, they are subject to oxidation over time. Coconut oil cannot be adulterated with other oils as far as I know otherwise they would not be solid at room temperature. Basically if you are paying grocery store prices for your oil it's most likely not what it says on the label.
I saw some health improvements when I tried keto, but I feel my best carnivore. Sugar/carbs do me no favors.
Carnivore is a type of keto diet. It just leaves out the veggies.
@@wendyscott8425 It also has a higher protein to fat ratio which some people do better on. Some people actually get kicked out of ketosis with the higher protein.

I found I stressed much and struggled with carbs. Eating meat, butter, eggs, and sometimes cheese helps me to simply eat till I'm full and remain fine till I get hungry again.
Switching to Keto a few years back has been the best decision i made in a long time.
I was able to lose 80 pounds and keep my weight stable, i have more energy, i sleep better, many of my allergies went away and many other positive effect.
Wish i looked into it sooner to notice the 70+ years of studies they have already done...
I started doing keto on my 43rd birthday back in August. I am in AWE of how well my body is reacting to it! I can go on and on about my experience. Trust me, in AWE!

As someone who has eaten the high fat low carb diet for 39 years, I should be dead by now. Instead I feel the same as I did at 25. Go figure.

Funny thing how Alzheimer's is considered as a type 3 diabetes as its caused by the brain's inability to utilize glucose as its main source of fuel. There have been studies in which putting these patients on a ketogenic diet greatly slowed the progression of the disease. The government gives you food guidelines....everyone gets fat and sick. This is another example why the government should stay out of things. Was keto for 3 years and now carnivore.... never felt ,looked,or been more healthy in my life.
It's not all the government's fault. People have insinuated themselves into the decision-making process and have extreme biases, like Seventh-Day Adventists who believe everyone on earth should be a vegetarian. It's really kind of a mess, but just know that the food guidelines were not developed by unbiased researchers and have been heavily influenced by money.

@@osoniye4209 no... I personally have not. Some do but most of those who have high cholesterol numbers do CAC scans and have a score of 0. Just shows that lipids are more complex than what we belive.

I just watched this video. In the past 8 months I have lost 60 lbs doing much of what this video talks about. I ate fresh unprocessed beef, chicken or eggs, green vegetables not cooked in vegetable oil but with butter added, no juice, some cheese -- no bread or pasta and minimal carbs-- and some fruit. Very sustainable. Also intermittent fasting. Lastly, I walk almost every morning 5 miles (about 90 minutes). Yes, "Keto" can work but you have to stick to it. As they said, its a lifestyle change, not a "diet". Now I am about 10 lbs from my goal weight. My point: It can be done.

I feel like this is a key factor. I'm doing Keto and IF for maybe the better part of 2 weeks only and instead of thinking "I want to treat myself finally after having lost xy amount of weight (to sweets, cookies, chips, you name it) / sticking to it all this time" I'm much more in the "I can't wait how I'll look in half a year" category which was never the case for me in my past attempts of losing weight and reaching my fitness related goals (not keto). Im in a much better headspace because this is so easily sustainable and I dont have the constant feeling of having to force myself not to eat all these carb heavy treats because I dont have cravings for them.
As long as documentaries, doctors and food industries promote eating more vegetables and less processed foods, I'm happy. Whether that's with supplements or not, meat or not, carbs or not, I don't care. Whatever works for people. As long as the core of the message is fresh unprocessed foods, that would already solve so many problems.

Seems like problem with vegetarian/vegan is they often tend to still eat a lot of highly processed foods. I think a lot of different diets can work for different people as long as you stick to whole, real foods.

I feel I have to add a comment. In October 2022 I saw Eric Westman and Jason Fung on TH-cam. After watching them I went on a one week fast and then started a ketogenic diet. I have had hypertension since I was 28 ( 38:years). In the last year I have come off meds for hypertension,cured my ibs and started sleeping better. What can be wrong with that?

I was raised eating vegan for religious reasons and for so long I mistook my introverted personality for lethargy from a high-carb and high-sugar diet. Not until two years ago did I experiment with fasting and start to see the improvement in my mental clarity, I decided to push that limit. I fasted regularly and ate both a high-carb diet and a high-fat diet in my eating window at times. I switched up my fat sources by replacing vegetable oils with butter and extra-virgin olive oil. Soon enough, I noticed I nearly passed out a few times during fasting hours when I was carb-dependent despite my sedentary lifestyle. In contrast, I see a huge difference in vitality and liveliness when I'm on a low-carb diet, which is what I always wanted to achieve. Another benefit is that it also helped me step up my fasting game: I can fast longer and longer and have far much more energy to exercise and enjoy lifting weights. When I went back home for the first time after two years away, my mom couldn't recognize me at all. For sure I'll never look back on a high-carb diet in the name of veganism but I really hope to lead as an example for my mom to make changes in our family diet since it's a very fine line between eating for better health and throwing away a big part of your religious practice. So far my mom is skinny fat and blows up most of her inflammatory markers, recently discovered a tumor on one of her breasts. My dad got NAFLD when he turned 43 in spite of his work being labor-intensive and his daily bodyweight exercise. Hope I'll have enough time and patience to influence my parents before it's too late.

When I cared for a Hindu woman I was astounded how many carbs she ate because she was an obese diabetic 2, plus no meat of course! My Friend, her daughter, was starting to test pre-diabetic and was told to exercise to control it. I believe India promotes vegetarianism as part of their religion in order to control their massive populace. Also my friend had a lot of her teeth removed!
Well, the life is based on a cycle. Fasting time belongs to it.
This is exactly my experience. I have ADHD. I've never been overweight. My grandmother worked in a health food store owned by my uncle. Turns out my grandmother was right beyond what anyone gave her credit for. Butter. Milk. Peanuts (minus the veg oil, which I'm now learning about). It's obvious to me now. My memory has improved. I've never had a good memory. I'm able to focus. I can pay attention to three things at once. I can feel it. I recently ran two miles and felt like I could keep going. When I first started playing pickleball I couldn't run a quarter mile. Recently I started shifting fat/carb ratios and while it's only incremental because I've been exercising and still eating some carbs/sugar, literally every aspect of my existence has improved. I've experimented and gone back and forth between carbs/fat. When I go from high fat to high carbs, I can feel it. It takes me awhile to recover. I go back to high fat and my mind becomes consistent again.
I've seen nothing that proves me wrong. I've seen evidence that almost completely debunks the documentary Forks Over Knives. Their own studies contradict their film if you look into it. I'm convinced this is the biggest lie ever perpetrated. And all it's doing is fueling profits for the corporations, from the food industry all the way to the ER/medical procedures. The meat industry was weaker than the combined forces of the other industries.
The body is a complex machine. The only simple answer in all this is profit.

In only 4 months on keto, I went from 25% body fat to 15%. I actually had to increase my carbohydrates because I was losing more weight than I wanted 😅 love keto!

I think your diet highly depends on your overall lifestyle. I was on a keto diet when I was sedentary and not active at all, I was able to maintain weight and felt good. When I started lifting weights, I needed carbs in order to gain the muscle I needed and exercising made me feel so much better. I think sticking to single ingredient Whole Foods 90% of the time is a good rule of thumb, to stay healthy overall and I think which method you choose depends on what your lifestyle is.
You are 100% correct. Keto isn’t for everyone. Depends on your fitness goals, how much weight lifting and cardio you do

I've been eating a dozen eggs a day for 30 years. The first year, I drank that many raw eggs every day and I gained a bunch of muscle after being a stick all my life. Now I am 54 and I still eat a dozen eggs a day. I am still in great shape and do the same things I did 30 years ago. Nobody ever guesses my age.
I'm not stopping.
Oh, and I don't have diabetes or anything for that matter. Imagine that.
I am full carnivore and at 58 years old I am on no medications and my weight is nearly at my ideal weight.
I swim for 1 hour a day and completely reject most of what doctors told me.
The real issue is fat and carbs together. That's the real mechanism of disease.

I encourage your health journey. However, based on everything I have read, losing 1.5 pounds per day, is concerning and perhaps also water weight. You feel great, and that's important. If you are losing visceral fat (fat that surrounds the organs) then you are likely doing well. The scale does not tell the whole story. I wish you the best of health.
Skim, 1%, and 2 % milks are high glycemic foods. Dairy also increases risk of type I diabetes.
I started keto which sort of naturally lead to intermittent fasting. At first not on purpose I just stopped being hungry most of the time. And now I kinda have my meal around noon and then some coffee with mct oil or coconut oil and butter or green tea and I'm going all day. I lost 55 pounds in about 4 months and now it's slowed down a lot but it's still slowly coming off. After I had my third baby I had such a hard time getting back to fitness, hated how I looked and felt and after I started keto I just have energy all day. I wake up at 5 to make myself do some lifting and at least 30m of light cardio before I start my day. Full time student, mom of 3, part time food delivery and going into the medical field. Not entirely sure what I want to do but I'm about to get my first science degree in hand! Keto changed my life.

Type 2 diabetic in remission because of the ketogenic diet and intermittent fasting. A1c went from a 8.4 to a 5.9. Feel better in every way. It works for me!

Love my saturated fats! I love butter from grass-fed cows, organic coconut oil, and ghee. I don’t like the taste of olive oil but that’s a good one too but the real ones are very expensive.
WTF the doctor that talks about sugar is good for you when you have diabetis at min 44:40 .. is completly out of his mind.
Once I read in the newspaper about my area, the paper stated that people in the interior ate more read meat since they tended to have more farmed base economy than people in the coast. The newspaper reported that people who ate more meat died more of heart desease.
This statement left me puzzled so I did a bit of digging on my own, it turned up the life expectancy between the two areas was not that different, the people on the coast died more of cancer....it is so easy to twist the narrative.....be sceptical about everything you hear in nutrition...in fact be sceptical about everything you hear!!!?

I don’t feel good eating less then 60 grams of carbs a day, I feel anxiety and panicked. The best range for me is between 60-100 grams a day. If I eat more I get anxiety too. Everyone have a range where feel the best.
Yes! I thrive at 40 to 60 grams of carbs. Different levels for different people.

Yes me too. I went very low for over 6 months and started passing out from low blood sugar. I needed to have small servings of starch at each meal to correct this.
Thankfully I found Barry Groves book 'Natural health & weight loss ' who recommended 60 - 75 g if carb per day. I went on to lose 31kgs by that method.

Heroin addicts will also tell you they feel terrible if they don't have at least a little every day, too. It's called withdrawal, and carbs withdrawal is really nasty. You gotta power through it, then power through the keto flu, and 30 days in you'll likely feel amazing.

After trying both lifestyles while heartily and my experience of people I honestly believe that I thrive better off a low carb - high protein diet. At the same time I have Vegan friends that are very healthy-fit vegans. I believe everyone’s different and you need to see what works for you as in individual.

Do what works for you. I am T2D and have been low carb for years, with management entirely through diet, i.e. no medications. Would only lose a few pounds a year. After a diagnosis of osteoporosis, doctor put me on vitamin D3 (which is a hormone) and lost 12 lbs. in two months. I went even lower carb, but not keto, along with time restricted eating, and have lost 65 lbs. in the last 13 months. Last A1c was 5.2. I'm convinced the weight loss is due to hormones, but my doctor dismissed this.
You might tell your doctor that insulin is a hormone.
Vitamin D deficiency can also contribute to weight gain.
The problem is that some people don't know what works for them because they are young and metabolic issues are cumulative and progressive. So, their labs still look fine, and they think they are healthy just because the issues have shown up in the labs yet. Sometimes that takes decades. This includes both thin people who think that they are healthy just because they are thin, and that they can eat whatever kind of crap they want...as long as they stay in a calorie deficit, and just because they are young and thin and their labs are still fine, they will never have to suffer any consequences when they get older, for trashing their bodies when they are still young. Also a lot of morbidly obese people who are young, have pretty much the same mindset...thinking just because their labs look fine now, they can be healthy at hundreds of pounds overweight, and eat whatever they want, with no health consequences down the road.
D3 and K2 helps to get calcium out of your blood stream and into teeth and bones.
The truth is that our Bodies never forget what we have done to them.(ie scar tissue) and though we can recover and thrive , the results will remain...still.have all the skin from my obesity and the neuropathy located in hands and feet although l lost the fat and got my D.M. under control with keto and intermittent fasting!

I was keto (avoiding butter, bacon, cheeses, beef whenever I could) for a year and felt physically and mentally GREAT!!! Lots of veggies, EVOO, salmon, chicken and sardines.
Up until a week ago I was vegan for 3+ years and I’ve felt the worse in comparison. I’m not lactose intolerant, I’ve never been obese, my cholesterol continues to be great with either lifestyle choice.
I will continue with a diet suitable for my body.

I actually was diagnosed with prediabetes about a year or 2 ago, so I heard of the Keto diet, and started to do it, and not only did I reverse my diagnosis but lost weight improved my cholesterol along with a whole host of other benefits, but because of my constant cravings of beans potatoes and just some carbs recently I started to buy back in to the fruits and carbs myth, but quickly realizing that for me my body carbs are a no go..
I feel bloated gain 2 lbs. back and feel sluggish, so long story short I'm going back to Keto, and perhaps I can find a Keto provider that is willing to help me with the needed blood test for example insulin resistance to see if I'm metabolically healthy enough to not be on such a strict Ketogenic diet. only because it is very limited in what food group you can have.
This is puzzling. I've never seen the US government recommend a vegan diet. They seem to be more on the beef and dairy side, with the historical 4 food groups, and the "Got Milk?" campaign. A lot of the soy produced does go to oil, but much to cattle feed, too.
I think we can ALL agree that refined oils and junk/processed food is bad for you.

I've spent nearly a lifetime (since the age of 6) jumping from diet to diet, following the advice of experts, only to have that advice reversed over and over, only to end up with Type 2 diabetes, morbid obesity, and hypertension, joint and muscle pain, headaches, etc. Now in my 50's, I've discovered that I have a huge amount of food allergies and sensitivities. As soon as I cut all of those foods out of my diet, my weight began to fall off, blood sugar and blood pressure came down to normal levels, and I'm being taken off of medications. Eat what your body can handle. These one-size-fits-all diets and recommendations are not the way to health for all people. Once I learned what my own body needs, I've never felt so healthy.
I was able to lose 40’sh lbs and reverse type 2 diabetes with intermittent fasting and a keyto diet. What was it that worked for you ?
Yes, I had to check to make sure I didn’t write this. The idea of finding what your body needs matters. I started taking car of all my stuff at 71 years old. Now I’m 75 and I’m 20 lbs from my target weight but metabolically correct and without medication 💊.

I almost became a diabetic while consuming all kinds of cereals like Honey Nut Cheerios and Kellogg's' Raisin Bran daily. I stopped drinking milk, dairy products, breads, processed foods, ultra-processed foods, juices, and carbs with a high sugar index. I basically eat a little bit of broccoli, cauliflower, tomatoes, lettuce, avocados, and lots of meat. I am no longer considered (or diagnosed) as pre-diabetic and lost the 25 pounds that I was overweight with.
I have hypothiroidism (35 years old), Ive already try a few system to cope with the extreme tireness and brain fog mostly, obviously with the help and guide of a certified dietitian and the thing I learn is that balance is the only thing that helps me. Gluten free-paleo-intermittent fasting, all of those were a nightmare for me. Trying those things were the worst. I felt like shit without bread or sugar. So, I decide not to waste money looking for the next new revolutionary diet that would help me and follow simple rules. Cook most I eat, include a lot of veggies and good protein sources, exercise weekly, limit sweets, treats, cut chips, crakers, white bread and take my vitamins.
I think the best way (so far) to get a pretty good picture of your health situation, is through blood work and how you spend 90% of your time. Those two together I believe, give you a pretty accurate idea of how your doing physically. In addition, cognitive health is also something we need to be practicing. Challenging our minds is important for growth and health.
Lastly, emotional health and mental health are important as well. Our sympathetic nervous system has a significant impact on how we function and how we make decisions.
All true. But what the film did not address is the problem of poor quality fat. The film mentioned the problem of rancid seed oils, arguing that animal fat is better. But it does not address the problem of fats from sick animals, pumped with antibiotics, slaughtered in the meat industry, then the meat product pumped with chemicals, and put into the commerce stream. So, good health is reserved to people with disposable income willing to spend it on expensive farm-raised quality meat and dairy.
These doctors are the real doctors who cares about people.👍👍👍

The more I understand keto diet and its benefits the more I wonder how come even today the what-so-called scientists, doctors, nutritionists can be so mean or ignorant to be against keto diet and even try their best to prevent the people or patient who need keto diet from practicing it. Why?
I saw a cardiologist today as part of my routine healthcare. My doctor was concerned about my high cholesterol. My latest total cholesterol was 370. …yes, 370. I saw the doc today after having an echo. I got a clean heart health report. No atherosclerosis, healthy heart, EF was 65% which is perfect. I have NEVER eaten a low fat diet. I limit sugar and processed foods. I eat eggs and cheese and butter regularly. I’m 58 yo. I smoked for 45 years. I did quit 6 months ago because I wanted to. It’s important to do your own research. These doctors out here know little to nothing about nutrition. Most of them are just glorified pill pushers. I don’t take statins and I never will. Try and stay away from sugar and processed foods as much as possible. Move your body. And listen to what these folks have to say about the nefarious practices of the food industry and government “health” agencies.

@@KenJackson_US unfortunately, I learned a lot of what I know while caring for my parents and watching their health deteriorate under the care of specialists. I don’t take statins because I think they contributed to my dads early death at 66yo. It’s complicated. But I did a ton of my own research about heart disease and cholesterol and I’m very confident that I do not need to take it. I hope you can recover from any damage done.

I eat a whole food plant based diet now and lost a lot of weight......i excercise..i gavr up all the fast food.....my food now is naturally low calorie..low fat...low sodium..high carb...high fiber and zero cholesterol

Maybe it was just my bad luck, but I was just your age with only slightly elevated LDL cholesterol (Untreated, I thought I must have the good, fluffy LDL because I had excellent triglycerides), ate a healthful diet which included plenty of vegetables, meat, chicken, eggs, cheese, and butter, low amounts of refined sugar and no sugar or artificially sweetened drinks). I had a spectacular echo the day before a plaque ruptured in my LAD (the infamous widow maker) causing a heart attack. I had no symptoms until the sudden event at a wedding I was directing. Thankfully, the aspirin I CHEWED before being whisked away to the ER kept the attack from causing permanent heart muscle damage. It kept thinned blood flowing around the clot to the muscle. It bought time to get a stent placed in that precious coronary artery which fed the whole front wall of the heart. An echo BTW does not show blockage or plaque that's ready to burst through a weakened coronary vessel wall. I believe if I'd had an arteriogram, it too would have been clear, because the passage was clear until the plaque broke through the vessel wall and clotted off the day of the event. The day before, I let a friend who was in school to learn to do echoes practice on me while being overseen by my interventionalist cardiologist husband. Fast forward 11 years to 2023. I now eat whole, real, unprocessed food, plant based, no added oils or refined sugar way of life. Lots of greens, beans, whole grains, fruits, veggies including starches such as potatoes. I say I eat from a different buffet table than Whole 30, Mediterranean, Atkins 40, Paleo, South Beach or any other number of diet types I'd entertained over the years. There was a learning curve, but I finally got rid of angina that plagued me in the years following the heart attack. And I've got good numbers now to show for it. Difficult to clean oil stained stove tops, pots, pans, and casserole dishes (think Dawn commercials) give an indication of what's happening to the delicate epithelial walls of blood vessels which stay at 98.6 degrees.
I’m following my mom’s advice: ALL things in moderation. She rarely snacked. She lived to be 102, mentally coherent, able to get about, she was NEVER a vegan or vegetarian.
We ate meat 6 days a week. And she had one serving of each meal. She was never obese.
Your mum sounded sensible, at the end of the day you'll never stop people eating sugary food etc same as you'll never eradicate drug taking, alcohol and so forth, you've just got to educate them how to partake sensibly and in moderation, videos such as this won't real change a thing interesting as it is
Shopping for and basing meals on whole foods or minimally processed ones, and cooking our own meals, eliminating sweetened beverages and not snacking around the clock would remedy 90% of the obesity and diabetes problem in the US. Anything ultra-processed is going to contain sugar of some form, and probably other unhealthy additives also.@glenmorgan4597

Don't get me wrong, meat is very nutritious. But there are a bunch of micro-nutrients that you can mainly get from fruits and vegetables.
We are omnivores, not carnivores. Remember that.
Your mindset, your thoughts, are the most important thing when it comes to health. Quit obsessing over what you eat and just eat real food till you are full. This was a really good documentary! I knew diets were all about money and what sells. Your body will tell you what you need. Avoid fad diets. If you develop food allergies, an elimination diet will cure those. I don't know why but eating all meat or eating just potatoes and nothing else will cure whatever is wrong with you. It doesn't matter which you choose. I've done them both and they both worked. I think when you get sick, keeping food simple will help your body heal itself. I personally feel better when I eat only meat but I like to garden so I end up eating a lot of raw vegtables. I have to watch that because it will upset my digestion so I just back off a little. Being happy and positive with lots of friends is the best thing for your health. Your mind is where it is at.

This documentary missed many opportunities to explain a bit more about the complex processes the body goes through when absorbing nutrients and the hormonal signals the body has to do to communicate with all it's organs
I was 285 lbs and now I'm 239lbs. The keto diet is amazing and I also fast 4 times a week. Feel amazing and I'm never hungry. Never going to go back to how I was.
How long do you fast?
I eat omad on the days I fast then on the days I don't I eat 2 meals a day. The 2 meals are pretty close together though.
I'm 226 lbs now. I eat mostly carnivore. 4 egg Yorks and half a stick of butter a day with meat. Best I've ever felt. The fat helps you fast.
It’s been 3 years since I started low carb diet. No more feeling sleepy and sluggish after meals. I feel great and have constant energy levels throughout the day.
Sleepy after meals would be nice compared to always feeling like I had managed to swallow a brick, which describes most of my life. On carnivore now, feel so much better.
Ate vegan for about a month or two. Towards the end, I was very weak and it was hard to get out of bed.
I was on a vegan diet for close to three years. I was diagnosed with T2D. I had always follwed the LFHC guide lines prior to going with a plant based diet. The vegan diet just made things wworse. I cut out all the grains (whole or otherwise), sugars, and have gone to 20g or less of carbs per day. I added eggs, ghee, cheese, meat and fish to my diet. Now I am off all the diabetic medications now! My A1c went from 9.8% down to 5.2%. I like veggies, but my instinal track doesn't get along well with the fiber. So I consume very little foods with fiber. Interestingly enough, I didn't have intestinal issues until I went plant based.

You must have not eaten a good vegan diet. Because that is the most healthy diet as long as you're eating healthy plant-based foods, not Oreos or other junk foods that don't have meat or dairy.

@@darlenedevegan7401 There is no such thing as a good vegan diet. Learn this and supplement if you want to eat a nutrient deficient diet and at least try to be healthy. Even intelligent vegans understand this. Ignorance, on purpose or not, will cost a great deal down the road, maybe much more than you want to pay.
I was at the healthiest BMI and exercising 2 times per week on a whole foods plant based diet. Here’s the deal, humans are meant to eat wild meat every once and a while, foraged bird eggs in the spring, acorns meal, roots, wild lettuce, some fish, berries, wild fruit in the summer. We are omnivores that should eat whole food that is recognizable (not oil) and we eat a year round diet not a year round summer and surplus meat diet.
The different diets are similar in that keto, vegan, vegetarian etc they cut out shit food and stress whole food whether you eat meat or not. So of course you feel better.
Within reason. Some people are better suited to certain diets. I’ve seen some people do amazing on Carnivore, that didn’t do well before as vegans.
I agree but keto is very different. I wasn't eating the standard American diet prior to switching to keto. I was on a health kick and exercising because I was trying to lose weight. I was hungry all the time and used to cry myself to sleep at night because I because I was so hungry. I used to drug myself and take sleeping pills so that way I wouldn't consume more than 1600 a day.
The next day I switched to a keto diet, and I barely was able to consume 1000 calories. I was so full. This was magic!!!! Obviously, if you're only able to eat a 1000 calories, you're going to hit your caloric deficit. My insulin levels dropped (i took blood measurements) and my body was able to access toward fat for fuel. The rest was history.
Oh, I don't know about that. I've had some vegan food that tasted pretty darned s.... Never mind. :)
@@wendyscott8425 Hi Wendy. If you are talking about vegan food that tasted s....., if that was processed food, that is not vegan done right. A healthy vegan diet is based on whole, plant based foods. These processed vegan food alternatives are again, as pointed out in the video big business taking advantage of the unknowing consumer. They are full of chemicals and in my humble opinion, just not a healthy alterntative to whole foods. Consumer beware! It is much harder to make money on whole fresh foods than something processed that can sit on the shelf for weeks, months even years. The convience of chemical farming is much easier now than growing food without chemicals. It doesn't make it healthier. I think the key here to what Robin Harris's comment was "whole foods" not processed.
@@onejollyholly Nevertheless, from what I've learned, it is not possible to get all the nutrition we need on a vegan diet. People I know who were vegans for months were quite miserable, and I don't think they were eating a lot of processed foods, but they were hungry and tired all the time and had digestive problems with flatulence and several bowel movements a day. Who needs that? Two people I know broke their vegan diet with the biggest steak they could find at a fancy restaurant, and they are now doing just fine as keto/carnivores.
I’ll go by results. My personal results while following the food pyramid and eating the carbs and sugar, etc and I was 300 pounds. I am now keto and eating higher protein and fats and have dropped so much weight. I am now 265 and falling by the week. I’ll stay away from the sugars
