- HI ALL, BACK AGAIN AT LAST, THIS TIME WE HAVE A CUSTOM RESTORATION OF THE SOLIDO SAVIEM CAR TRANSPORTER N0. 321 WHICH WAS KINDLY DONATED TO ME BY MR. FRASER MARTIN. I HOPE YOU ENJOY THIS ONE AND THE THEME I WENT FOR AS AN EX FARMER AND MY INTEREST IN TRACTORS. HOPEFULLY I WILL BE BACK QUITE SOON WITH ANOTHER VIDEO AND WILL BE VERY PLEASED TO SEE YOU AGAIN THEN, IN THE MEANTIME TAKE CARE, HAPPY RESTORING AND MY BEST WISHES TO ALL.

Glad you're back Nick - and with another fantastic restoration. Great decision using the Corgi wheels, they really suit it. I do like the Holts dark yellow colour and the white roof on the cab goes really well. 👍👍
A true beauty sir, car carriers are a favorite and this one is outstanding. As trucker of 32 years, I do have a soft spot in my heart. Solido vehicles were a bit out of my price range as a young boy. I remember adding the first Solido to my, kind of dull in comparison, Matchbox castings. It was a bright red 1963 split window Corvette in 1/43, Wow, what a beauty ! Jeweled flip up headlights and the paint ! It never went outside, as my Matchbox cars did. In fact, it was played with very little. I had a thing about scale fidelity I guess. I LOL
Thank you for your nice comments, it is a nicely made model but it was a shame about those wheels having had the chemical reaction with the tyres, it seems to be a common problem with this particular model when I googled it to see for the ramp, a bit like some of the Britains models! I only had a couple of French model cars in need of restoration so that’s why I decided to put the tractors on it. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for watching, take care, all the best, Nick🐸🐸

That was a great restoration, nick .I hadn't seen one of those before, so that was very interesting to watch. It's nice to see it had screws .

Thank you Martin, I couldn’t decide whether to do it this deep yellow or orange, I had a full can of the yellow and only a small amount of orange left so that decided it lol! The trailer wheels aren’t great but they are a lot better than what they were, I could maybe have sanded them a bit more but I didn’t want to take too much off them. The screws made it easier but I don’t know why they were so tight to undo, I think there was a little bit of corrosion in the threads.

Hey Nic! I was beginning to worry about you - I sent an email which bounced - but it's nice to see you back in action! Thanks for the shout out - I remember sending that set because I was harvesting Brits from an old toy box, and since the truck was a Frenchie, I thought it best with you since you are nearer France than me! The tyres and wheels have chemically disintegrated, I think: it was never stored anywhere near anything that could have been described as hot: it was in Scotland! I'd have soaked the whole thing in WD40! There might have been a coil spring under the centre of the front axle, down that hollow...
Splendid result! Colours look excellent. And that tractor load looks terrific. I also have some good news: I have found a rear ramp! I'll get it posted to you!
Thank you Fraser, it was nice to do a model of a different make for a change, it’s definitely a chemical reaction with the tyres and wheels like on some of the older Britains models. I thought the same as you about the possibility of a spring being in the hole under the front axle but once in place, the front axle is clamped tight, no room for any up and down movement so I don’t think there was ever a spring.
That would be really marvelous to have the ramp to fit, it would finish it off, so thank you very much for that, I have two more tractors coming to finish off the load as well and talking about tractors I must get that Corgi MF 50b loader tractor sent off to you.

@@crapaudnicksdiecastrenovat1739 A small parcel will be in the post to you tomorrow nick - I think it is the correct ramp though it seems to be missing a hinge mechanism - but I am pretty certain you'll work something devious out to make it work! Cheers.
@@frasermartin6728 thank you very much for that, the ramp for these is separate I believe, no hinge, just slots in, so I don’t think anything is missing from it😊👍

WOW, absolutely WOW. That's fantastic Nick, absolutely fantastic. I think Saviem were either taken over by, or became part of, Renault in the early 70's??? When I saw your Renault Agriculture stickers I really got excited, it's a fabulous restoration. Your front grille sticker is superb as well. Did you remove the headlights, were they yellow plastic? Are the little tractors those Hatchette models? This is one of your best restorations Nick, well worth waiting for, you've done yourself proud and I bet Fraser is impressed with it too. Thank you Peter, I’m not sure about when Renault and Saviem came together but I am quite sure you are right, the headlights were plastic, I had to drill a hole behind each one so that I could push them out from the back. Yes the tractors are the Hatchette models, but I like the more modern one one the top deck at the front best, the others are a bit old for the lorry but they were the only ones that would fit on the bottom deck, and the only ones I could find on eBay at the time, I’ve got two more of the newer ones on the way now to finish the load.

All ok thanks Adrian, just been very busy at work doing a lot of overtime, and then helping out my brother on the farm as well, just haven’t had time to do any restorations, but I am trying to put some clips together for a purchases and donations video which hopefully I can get done this weekend as not working it for a change😊👍 and hopefully get a restoration started as well🤔😊👍
