@Dan Trebune I have a friend in Oregon looking for somewhere nice but he doesn't drive. I'll recommend him the area on the office chance he doesn't mind walking.
Also, that doesn't negate my point. I have everything I need within a 3 min walking distance from my place at most in NYC. Additionally I have a variety of options to buy from, not just one big store shared by an entire small community. The money lost in rent is made up in other ways. It's all about people's priorities. I'd prefer to pay a bit more in rent to save time and costs in driving or car maintance at this point of my life, lol.

The price is definitely manageable for one person. I work at home (or at decent neighborhood coffee spots not named Dunkin or Starbucks) so would probably turn that downstairs into a library for my too-many books and my home office. Then I'd find a way to make that loft work for sleeping. That seems possible. Good storage with all those closets. Probably not real comfortable in summer, but the price and location make it worth it. What a unique spot! Thanks!

Brain injuries and related disabilities should most certainly be highlighted too--disability advocacy work doesn't exist in silos.

All new buildings must be ADA complient, however, these new units go for outrageous rent prices that a vast majority of us can't afford.

Okay, this is like the NYC apartment you dream about when you are a teenager and want to escape. I am positive I could write a novel starring this apartment and it’s past, my ghosts would be the friendly kind that will not make you freak out. I love the spiral staircase, but that overhead loft would be for storage. This is a classic, not totally renovated set of spaces that you could make look so amazing and cozy. We had a basement bedroom in our second place and it was dark, quiet and cool in summer. I would make the basement the bedroom and cover one wall in removable wallpaper in a classic design, add floor length curtains, a antique headboard, dresser and a cozy chair, all on an area rug. The kitchen might be an afterthought, but add a microwave on top of the fridge and a rolling island for a workspace and it will do nicely. I would love to have a folding screen to hide the kitchen from guests. I would choose a leaf table from IKEA as the space for it would be limited. If you are a design student or you are working in design, making over this apartment, without major renovations, would be an amazing project to showcase your skills.

1st - the price/size in the corner of screen, freaking cool & helpful!
    2nd - that's a 1/2 bath
3rd - that loft area is where you store your fake xmas tree and last season's clothes and your puffy coat. If you're not a drinker the stairs down to bedroom private reading area are great. The place is quirky and some of those fresh flowers would make it homey quirky. Sign the papers!

Since there isn’t a good view from the window in the front of the apartment it would be great to put a lot of plants in the window since it is so deep! Maybe even have a kitchen herb garden. It would also camouflage the storage in the loft to put plants up there as well! It is such a cute apartment with so much storage! Thanks for the tour.❤️

With *no* job lined up? What's your industry? I can say that for as expensive as NYC is, there's a lot more opportunity to make money in a gig economy, so the most ambitious can make it happen. Not injecting my opinion on whether or not you should do this, but I'd say I wouldn't try this with less than $5,000 in my pocket.
