  • This place is as Creepy & Haunted as it is Cool - its an Ancient 120 Year Old Penthouse in Manhattan with 2 Balconies and a Roof Deck, but its not exactly modern or Flashy. Plus, its in the best part of the Upper West Side by Central Park and Columbus Ave, surrounded by cafes and fun things to do. Would you live in this old school nyc apartment or would you prefer something that has less “features” but is a bit newer? Check out this haunted nyc apartment tour and let me know what you think of haunted apartment buildings like this one might be! Personally, I loved it and would move in after its painted.

Careful of that "tar paper" roofing. It's not meant to support heavy objects. In the heat things will sink in and often pierce the waterproof membrane. Very bad for ceilings. It needs to be covered with some other material that won't rot outdoors all year. Tiled patios are what you need.

Immediately my mind always races wondering who all the past tenants were that used to live in all these apartments you show. Could a celebrity have lived there, a struggling musician, a wacky serial killer, or perhaps a lottery winner secretly hoarding his loot. Absolutely fascinating stories are probably forever lost now. Wish I had the ability to walk into an apartment and instantly see flashbacks of the lives that came through these apartments. Anyway, you're fun to watch.

This is the classic building/apartment/neighborhood that fits my vision of living in NY. With paint, the right furniture and art it would be lovely. The multiple outdoor spaces would be perfect for potted trees/plants and furniture. I hope whoever rents this apartment enjoys it very, very much.

  • @EliseLogan

As an author and ridiculous book hoarder, I appreciate the proximity to The Strand.
It looked like there was overhead storage above the kitchen. This apartment has a huge amount of storage between the under stair closet, that overhead storage, and the closet upstairs. The two baths are a great bonus, even if the upstairs bath is cramped, but the kitchen is pretty cramped and dated.
All that outdoor space is awesome. Invest in a roll of astroturf, put it down on both balconies and the roof deck, then bring in potted trees to screen that roof deck and set up a hammock or some outdoor seating. On the lower balcony set up an outdoor dining table and some fairy lights, and on the upstairs balcony set up a lounge chair and a little table along with some more potted plants so you can read those books from The Strand while you eat the cake you got from the bakery.

    🗣🎤 Tuned in ☕️
The full bath adjacent to tiny kitchen is eh. All I can say is this is different. On another note Shakespeare in the park happens directly across the street in CP whenever it returns to normal capacity. Head west to Columbus or Amsterdam for restaurants & shops.

Yay! I've heard of the famous Strand bookstore and I'm glad to see it's still in operation. If my memory is right that's where Patti Smith and Robert Mapplethorpe first met. Maybe another viewer can confirm or correct me. The huge old apartment building in the distance is the Beresford apartment building. Quite a view and quite a neighborhood!

The original Strand is by Union Sq., they almost lost it during covid. But did not get much pity, the family owns the building. Is this a "branch?" Or am I totally wrong? Have not been to NYC since 2019.

You could put your "shrine to your God" in a small garden in one of the outdoor spaces! So much room to grow some flowers, tomatoes, herbs and other things! It's a beautiful apartment, although it would be nice to renovate the kitchen and bathroom area just a tiny bit.

Only thing I'd change to this appartment if I owned it was remove the downstairs full bath, make a half bath instead and then use the space to expand the kitchen. Then add "newly renovated kitchen and bath" to the listing to charge like 500-1000 more dollars in rent to get my money back lol

It's a very big one bedroom with two full baths. Overnight guests can stay in convertible bed in the living room and the renter doesn't have to disturb him to use the bathroom. The kitchen is small and dark, another whole in the wall kitchen that seems to be almost universal in NYC. The neighborhood is really great and overall this is a nice apartment.
