    *Quick note - in this video I reference recording ProRes 4444 HQ with the Ninja V, however it only goes up to ProRes HQ which is actually 422 colour sampling, and then jumps from 422 HQ to full on ProRes RAW or RAW HQ. Sorry for the confusion!*

      ProRes Raw is 12 bit as is 4444HQ; You could transcode the ProRes Raw to 4444 (regular to regular, and HQ to HQ) for equivalent quality. The raw files will be smaller since there is only one colour channel per pix, but that's all the inherint information the camera is giving you anyway.

    great video! Hope to see a S1h mk2 in near future

      That would be awesome!

    Emphasizing an earlier comment: output the user interface on the SDI port when recording raw through the HDMI port. I use a Blackmagic 3G SDI to HDMI converter so that I can use an inexpensive HDMI monitor for this.

    An easy fix would be when not recording, output all info and then when the record button hit, it goes to a clean output.

    Would your discomfort about the lack of menus while the record raw feature is enable be addressed by being able to access the menu via the lumix smartphone app? (not saying that it is possible right now, but it seems to me that might be something not difficult to achieve by a firmware update).

    1:04 - Can you output a simultaneous feed via SDI to a second monitor with overlays on the screen for changing settings?

    It's a great camera, but missing image stabilization is a deal breaker for me..

      Not really because a box camera is easier to hold.

    EVA-2 would be amazing after a FX6-mark2 release.

    Thanks for the video. It's great. Do you know if the issue with inaccessibility to the menu and/or settings while shooting raw output via HDMI has been solved to this date or not? Thanks

    What’s people thoughts about the rolling shutter? I was a bit surprised about how much it was. It reminded me of the Sony A7S mk1.

    Just subbed looking at this camera can you make a video of all the addons you put on this setup

  • @ILaxative

    Nice video. What Hdmi cable are you using to connect the monitor to the Bs1H when on the gimbal? I have that same setup but my cable is not good. It tugs the camera when turning

  • @DanielTroyer

    Did you just say you can record Prores 4444 with this setup???

    • @JoshCameron

      You can indeed, with the Atomos Ninja V of course :)

      Hi Daniel, just double checked this and you’re right, it’s actually up to ProRes HQ , my apologies! Will make a note of this now and pin it as a comment 👍🏼

    Great video mate & I love box cameras for video but for me there are just too many features lacking on Panasonics Box range at the moment unfortunately. Glad to see you like it….still waiting on a RED vid 😉 😂

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha I really want a RED dude. I keep on going to push the trigger but I can't justify it tbh. The S5 is literally perfect for me!

    here's something i've thought about with this camera, at its current price, it would almost seem more ideal to just save up a bit more and spend $2k more (or so) for a Red Komodo? yeah there are other considerations (lens mount) etc. but it's something i've thought about with respect to these box cameras.

    Hey man! How are you using focus peaking? Do you send it out over hdmi or use monitor peaking? I’m having the issue of peaking over hdmi being hard to see and monitor peaking being too distracting since it peaks everything including the menu and screen icons. Thanks!

  • @ChrisFlores22
    @ChrisFlores22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    hey man! Can you link which battery you're using on the bs1h? I recently got one and it came with huge 9800 mah batteries but I'd like something smaller like your setup. Thanks!

  • @MichaelGreenwoodMG

    I wonder if the HDMI out external recorder issue that you describe can be fixed with future firmware or if it's a processor limitation? Do you know what the true (not advertised) dynamic range is?

    • @JoshCameron
      @JoshCameron  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I Genuinely hope they can come out with firmware to correct it because it’s the only downside I can actually see from this body when using it. And regards to the dynamic range, I haven’t actually done any scientific tests, but I’m sure you could find something about that on CineD’s camera lab website?
      Just from working with the footage though it behaves very similarly to the S5 and I think both sensors produce gorgeous images :)

    THEY COULD make a PERFECT camera. but then no one would buy all the other ones. So they want us to pay for 12 different cameras that 1 could do.

    • @JoshCameron

      I normally use focus peaking via the monitor (so the Atomos Ninja V). I like to be able to see the focus peaking as clearly as possible , and I find the in camera peaking to be too light
