    Noticed at 6:01 I have cut out the whole context of my point to the window shots, but basically the Dynamic Range is gorgeous. And you can be exposed both outside and inside, or put an ND on and match them both. it's great.

    I have the BGH1 and recently learned that ZCAM has camera controls with Ninja V. I don't understand why Panasonic hasn't worked with Atomos to allow camera controls with these cameras.

    Its one of the rarest camera with SDI delay, something unheard of...its why even i love the s1h image with a bmd va, i just could not call it a professional camera as my focus puller wanted to kill me,,,it would have been a killer box body if it had a small screen just for settings and no sdi delay...sometime I seriously dnt know what panasonic is doing as these r&d must cost them some money and all the camera they released since the lumix s seems incomplete and unfinished :( :(
    AM hoping the s1h ii fixes all these issues and bring at least 4k120/60 and with their color science, it will definitely be every cinematographer favorite toy ;) most of my shooter friends are seriously bored with the sony colors and some even went with the bmcc6k lately while keeping their sony for these mainstream gigs.

    Grabbed one of these based off these videos you made and others I've seen online. Paired with my rehoused canon FD 50 1.4 and Angenioux 28-70 2.6 the test shots look amazing. Shooting a few shorts next week and excited to see what it can really do.

      You have an incredible set up there, I have the Tokina ATX Pro 28-70mm f2.8 and it is stunning (same lens as the Angenioux) beautiful character. Enjoy!

    Excellent camera, my only issue with it is using it with a Black Magic Video Assist like I use with my S1. I really need the S1 screen while shooting BRAW. The BMVA turns these cameras into full 6k cameras and not only just 6k open gate.
    We have 6k 17:9 with the BMVA, which definitely improves the quality even though the quality is already great.
    For the the colors are better and more accurate with 12 bit BRAW

    • @samebdonfilm
      @samebdonfilm  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      RAW is definitely something amazing out of these cameras! To access your screen, I don't know if you have seen the swing away cheeseplates from Tilta, could work a charm if you have a standard one mounted on top of the camera and then screw the swing away at the back with the V Lock Plate on, you can just swing it up to get to the screen. - you may already have a solution on this so would be great to hear it, but that would be my work around.

    Coming from the bang for your buck S5, I have already invested in the Ninja V to utilize ProRes. Have been looking at the S5IIX on sale right now. Mainly wanted to upgrade for phase AF, but have realized the S series are lacking OLPF so might be unwise to buy another S5 series. So I deep dove the web for full frame cams with OLPF and just stumbled upon this gem in a Sony thread. How did this thing fly under the radar? After realizing I cannot sell a kidney for an FX3, unsure about the S5IIX moiré, and realizing I don’t want the huge S1H, I google the price for this absolute gold mine of a box camera and see that it’s on sale for $2400 (I was expecting FX3 prices). How on earth did this thing get buried on the usual sites? Is no IBIS really that big of a deal breaker? This is currently the cheapest 6K cine cam with OLPF. Thinking if I’m going to say screw phase AF all together then this might be my new A-cam to pair with my S5. 🤔

    • @samebdonfilm
      @samebdonfilm  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I quite literally have the same setup, its great, S5 is my B Cam and BS1H my A Cam, works a charm, I love it. I think people are just following whats being shoved out by the big brands instead of looking for other things that just work :) Enjoy the BS1H!

    How is the sdi latency is on this camera? Wondering it's the main shortcoming I've felt with my S5, along with the lack of an sdi port

    • @samebdonfilm
      @samebdonfilm  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's not terrible, if you've got a good focus puller who can presume what comes next normally its no problem at all, best way to cut the latency is to go via hdmi into the transmitter then monitor from SDI if you can't go HDMI out of your transmitter.

    • @samebdonfilm
      @samebdonfilm  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@connorquigvids No worries SDI isn't always vital and with the S5 I used to just run hdmi to the monitor then hdmi to the transmitter to wireless and that would always do the trick. These cameras are incredible and will give you everything for a beautiful image.

  • @ChrisFlores22
    @ChrisFlores22 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Dude sick! How are you using the ninja? Just to monitor or are you recording to it? If you are recording to it, how do you have the camera setup so that you don’t accidentally record menus lol thanks!

    • @samebdonfilm
      @samebdonfilm  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi Chris! I use the Ninja mainly as a monitor as I won't lie the 422 is amazing and prores raw, can be overrated unless being used for big productions etc, however in the case of using raw, I have menus out on the SDI, just make sure not to click playback lol. Hope this helps!

    • @ChrisFlores22
      @ChrisFlores22 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@samebdonfilm good to know thank you! I picked up a port keys bm5iii and it offers camera control over usbc. It makes using the bs1h a heck of lot easier. I’ve been going back and forth if I want to shoot prores or even raw but on the bs1h the workflow of buttons needing to be mapped to clear the screen would annoy me for sure lol I recommend the port keys, it takes up less draw than a ninja so batteries tend to last longer.

    • @samebdonfilm
      @samebdonfilm  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ChrisFlores22 legend ironically I do have the portkeys as well, so always debate switching to it but I really like the ninja for the screen itself c the portkeys I have to try and balance it all properly which can be a pain sometimes but very handy to know! May just have to give it a go!

    • @ChrisFlores22
      @ChrisFlores22 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@samebdonfilm that’s funny man, I prefer the port keys myself because the ninja always looks so crunchy lol the port keys is brighter. The only thing I like on ninja is the touch to punch in and check focus. On port keys it’s not as responsive so I instead mapped a button on my bs1h to be the punch in and then on the port keys I can move around to check critical focus. I also prefer the sdi over the hdmi connection on the bs1h. Cool to learn about how others are using this incredible camera that not a lot of folks talk about. Thanks man!

    • @samebdonfilm
      @samebdonfilm  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yep! I have found it works better when on the bigger shoots, plus it just means there's no extra drop if you come out a Ninja, when not needing a focus puller looping out the ninja is fine but if I have a Focus Puller we go out of the SDI.

      I sometimes feel the same way, which is why I have a soft spot for certain camcorders and bridge cameras. I which Panasonic would update the DVX200 to use a newer mft sensor instead of the GH4-era version. Camcorders in general may not be considered cinematic, but work within the camera's capability, watch exposure, lightning and audio and tell a great story.
