All explanations for the fire need to be considered, but it's not a simple question of "arson vs. battery". ICE cars can catch on fire too, but it's never because their fuel tank simply decided to ignite. It's often a wiring harness shorted out and got super hot next to something that can ignite, or power steering fluid leak dripping on something electrical, or any number of things. I strongly believe that a Tesla can catch on fire for reasons that are other than arson, and other than battery. Once on fire though, the Tesla would be more fun to watch (assuming you're outside of it). Once Teslas get a little older, and people discover they are under-water on their loans, it's possible there will be a few owner initiated arsons. However, a major cause of arson is car theft. People that steal cars for a joy ride have often been known to set them on fire afterwards. Over the years, I've had a few friends who have had cops "find" their car months after it was stolen, but absolutely nothing of any value remained. With modern cars, car theft will be a lot less common, and thus, arson due to car theft will be less common too. Also, who would steal a Tesla? That's not an insult to Tesla, but think about it. They'd go to charge it up and they need to use an App on their phone, and a payment method (credit card or bank account - that's personal identifying information and no car thieve would share that, if they're smart (or unless they stole a credit card too))? Even if they charge it at home, there's a lot of computer messaging between car and charger, so I would expect the cars location would be reported. Thus, car thieves will likely leave these cars alone.
I just think this just is a bad thing to happen more and more the battery car is good but soon they will not be permitted in mall's and parking garages because of high risk fire, people soon will slow down the buying of electric cars because of this risk if you put these vehicles in your garage the risk is on you .
I can bet that this was not arson. If they claim that, they need a proof to back their claims. No camera? no video evidence of people setting that on fire? Nah, It was the EV fault.
this is arson. So, it is fine. I don't mean that it is fine that someone set them on fire. It is fine in the sense that we know the cause and was not spontaneous unprovoked self immolation
Genuinely surprised a battery case managed to survive all that, at least for awhile. Would have assumed that much heat would have touched them off no problem, but guess not.
Is there an off-gas port built into Tesla's battery box? If so I think that a liquid nitrogen lance could be used to inject liquid nitrogen into the battery box. A bit like how big buildings have a dry riser connection for the fire brigade to connect to the building's sprinkler system.
thanks just looked it up. 👍 Audi E-Tron GT, Carmel Indiana (not to be confused with Carmel near the Monterey Peninsula California where they just had Car Week)
also look up here in the Northeast a report from CBS News Channel 2, the Tesla with 2 fatalities in White Plains NY that just crashed into a home and exploded. yes, the witnesses say it "exploded" this time around not just caught on fire (as we've seen likely due to some off-gassing and build up of H2 inside the cabin).
Even professional firefighters face difficulties to extinguish fire in the EVs. Lithium batteries keep igniting until consuming everything.

If someone drives a stolen Tesla, does that mean that it's called an Edison?
Your very own crematorium, no need for a funeral home if you get trapped in a electric vehicle and it catches fire,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Too dangerous, ban them!
I just think this just is a bad thing to happen more and more the battery car is good but soon they will not be permitted in mall's and parking garages because of high risk fire, people soon will slow down the buying of electric cars because of this risk if you put these vehicles in your garage the risk is on you .
Environmental.... Friendly....
So now they will blame these death traps exploding to arson? Really?
I can bet that this was not arson. If they claim that, they need a proof to back their claims. No camera? no video evidence of people setting that on fire?
Nah, It was the EV fault.
Somehow no video evidence despite Tesla's having 38 cameras and constantly recording, in a service center with security cameras... yeah arson sure.
I expect the video evidence existed for a short while prior to being consumed by the fire.
Of course it was the BEVs fault /s
Arson? Ya sure....LOL
this is arson. So, it is fine. I don't mean that it is fine that someone set them on fire. It is fine in the sense that we know the cause and was not spontaneous unprovoked self immolation
Where is the proof of that?
@@AndrewTSq self evident. cars don't catch on fire. People catch fire. boom. mike drop.
@@pokerchannel6991 but lithium batteries does selfignite, since they are unstable by nature.
Genuinely surprised a battery case managed to survive all that, at least for awhile. Would have assumed that much heat would have touched them off no problem, but guess not.
Oh did you forget…Jeep recalled thousands of Vehicles die to risk of fire 🤔😉. Vandals set a Tesla on fire…hum.
Definitely did not, one of the more spectacular failures. th-cam.com/video/aLtkTp4GVuE/w-d-xo.html
If Tesla EVs burn so often imagine how dangerous the Chines crap must be
BYD dealerships have suffered this supposed 'arson' issue. A few have gone up in smoke in China.
Vehicular suicide pact?
Is there an off-gas port built into Tesla's battery box? If so I think that a liquid nitrogen lance could be used to inject liquid nitrogen into the battery box. A bit like how big buildings have a dry riser connection for the fire brigade to connect to the building's sprinkler system.
I’ll believe it was arson when is see proof
No other product would be allowed. EVs, the law darts of the road. (Arson story is bullshit)
And Tesla EVs are supposedly the best😅😂
F&&& EVs
Well, someone could have been arson around...
They can't sell them, so it might be an inside job and insurance will pay for them,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Fire on car lift.
U2oob: electric car fire Carmel dealership
thanks just looked it up.
