    This is the new mid-torque: homedepot.sjv.io/e45W2D Find our rankings here: etsy.me/3G8j3QK. We just got the high torque, will be working on that this week! What are your guesses on how it will do?
    Torque, who started TTC, is working in product development for Astro Tools who also make impacts (air). Always consider multiple sources when looking at a tool!

      Why not the 6ah max output?
      While using the new ridgid tools every day at work, i definitely notice a power difference between the 6ah and 4ah despite the two batteries being identified inside and out.

    Ive been using the ridgid impacts in the real world for years at transmission shop daily and beat the crap out of them, theyve been great!! I own all the milwaukee line in the impacts and ratchets as well and the funny thing is the mid octane 1/2 gun actually outperforms new milwaukee 1/2 or 3/8 in bolt removal speed even though its listed lower power on here. Ridgid has a different hammer mechanism it seems and they can snap the bolts loose faster. I got rid of new 1/2 milwaukee mid torque cuz it was disappointing and slow. 90% of time octane 1/2 can take a whole car apart, otherwise I grabbed milwaukee high torque to finish the job. Ever since the high torque ridgid 1/2 came out and the new impact driver i believe the Ridgid line is the best out there. The power, the light weight and the warranty cant be beat. My milwaukees have parked themselves in a drawer

    Great to see it's not a downgrade from the Octane! I still don't know why TTI scrapped the 21700 3aH in both the Ridgid and Ryobi lines, and only kept it for Milwaukee...

      So they don't outperform and take sales away from their more expensive tools. Milwaukee tools and packouts are marked up 100s of %. We know this when they go on sale and because less than 2 years ago most of the packouts cost $20-40 less per piece.

      Just for reference, the milwaukee gen 3 impact, drill, 2 x 5ah batteries, 1 x 2ah 12v battery, charger kit costs over $1300 AUD at the moment. I bought this exact kit 18 months ago for $650 AUD. That price difference isn't covid, it isn't sales or discounts, it's just TTI being dicks.
      Makita have their 40v impact, drill, 2 x 4ah batteries, charger for $1000 AUD. And it comes in a systainer (cheap plastic box is always better than a blow moulded case)
      That price difference (between makita and milwaukee) is almost 2 days work for a skilled worker on minimum wage.

      @@Tool_Addicted_Carpenter i can see that being the case for ryobi. But TTI doesn't own Ridgid. They just make the tools for Emerson. You'd think Emerson would be telling TTI what to make for them.

    you guys stuff is ALWAYS awesome!!!! But I have a request. I wore my OG Bauer 1/4" 20v Brushed out, and was MORE than pleased. When I went to replace i let the HF peeps upsell me to the Hercules 20v Brushed and since I unboxed it a year ago I have HATED it!!!! It didn't compare to the Bauer it replaced. Just replaced it with the new Bauer 1/4" 20v Brushless and oh my God, it is amazing!!!! Is there any way that you can do a comparo of the HF units so that we REALLY know what is what??? I would be more than happy to send both the Herc and the new Bauer each with charger and 5AH batteries, but as I said my OG Bauer brushed is caput so that one is out....I also own a few other brands that were rated way higher and way more $ than this new Brushless Bauer but I am floored at how damned good it is, and that is without factoring in the fact it is only $49.....Thanks for the effort put into your content

    I have noticed with the Octane Midtorque despite its lower tested output that in daily use it does as well if not better than some others in its class when removing fasteners. With a higher ipm it seems to heat fasteners crazy fast which I believes helps it a good bit.
    The largest fasteners I have used it with successfully with were 1-1/8 headed 5/8 threaded lug nuts. This is about the peak of what it can do and usually grab the hi torque.

    Great test/great channel. How about testing these in the different modes tightening fasteners? Many times we will snug or pre-tighten fasteners using an impact and then finish with a torque wrench. If we have a ballpark max torque for each mode this would make that process easier. Also, to be honest most home mechanics don't have a 250ft-lb torque wrench much less something higher so they (we=me) will likely use an impact and guess at the final torque. A hitch ball requiring 450ft-lb would be an example. I would say most have a 0-150ft-lb. Thanks! David

    I know these are measured relative to a IR 231H, but how would they compare to a torque wrench? If you torque the bolt with a torque wrench set to 250ft/lb how many ft/lb does the gauge show when calibrated to the 231H? It would be interesting to see how the impact wrenches perform when the gauge is calibrated with a torque wrench. To be as accurate as possible I think it would need to be torqued to approximately the expected torque of the impact wrenches being tested. i.e. if you calibrate the dyno by torquing the bolt to 400ft/lb and then measure an impact wrench that only shows 150ft/lb it wouldn't be as accurate as if you calibrated it by torquing it to 150ft/lb because of any nonlinearities in the torque/force curve of the bolt and nut. It would also be interesting to see how different size nuts and bolts change things when calibrated the same way.

    Interesting find, “AEG” tools made by TTI seems to be basically rebranded Ridgid tools for other markets, same orange color and all. They still sell the 3aH 21700 cell battery under that name…wonder if it would work on Ridgid stuff

    • @pflaffik
      @pflaffik 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it been listed under TTI for long time. In the 1990ies AEG had pro series battery tools that could match Makita in quality but was not so successful in competing with them. Very high quality German brand back in the days, AEG Turnamat washing machines from the 1960ies still work and parts are available, my great grandmother bought hers in 1962 and its still in service as a backup.

    • @mattek519

      100% they are an upgrade. If you look at the new tools, they have extra side contacts in the battery terminal that match up with the side contacts on the 4ah battery. The old batteries lack these battery leads.

      @ryanchu2037 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mattek519 Hey thanks for the reply! I am aware that the new tools have the extra contact points and so do the new batteries( as I have the old ridgid batteries from 10 years ago), but I was curious as to how big a power difference there is between the new regular Ridgid batteries vs the Max output as I recently bought the R86011B 1/2'' impact (formerly the Octane 1/2'') and am curious as to how it will perform with both batteries. :))

    • @mattek519
      @mattek519 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ryanchu2037 well, to be honest, the new brushless impact does not have the corresponding battery contacts to match the max output batteries, even though it's advertised as a tool that will benefit from using max output batteries. And as far as i know all of the octane batteries actually have the same side contacts as the maxoutput ones. That said, uf your octane impact battery terminal has the matching side contacts for the octane/MO batteries, i think your impact may be able to dish out more beans than the newer impact can.

    So the mid torque rigid has more power then the rigid octane?

  • @kylefowler5082
    @kylefowler5082 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder if a new Milwaukee midtorque might be around the corner given the Dewalt's new dominance and the Ridgid's performance against the Milwaukee stuff.
    Really with Ridgid you are buying the extended warranty without being asked at the register. I've used their warranty a few times and it's hit or miss. They don't attempt battery repairs but if they can they will replace every broken part on a clapped out Sawzall. In that case the saw's performance still wasn't how it used to be when new. I ended up retiring the saw to home use since I had to wait the usual six weeks for the saw to repaired and bought a new one in the meantime. However when I smoked a 6 year old X4 drill they just sent me a new X5, of course that took six weeks. Your mileage will vary. Some guys warranting old Ni-Cad batteries are still getting new old stock Ni-Cad's as replacements lol
