Drove a cab for 17 years (seasonally). Know that fear so well. I once took a guy down a narrow street in a bad neighborhood. A car pulled up behind and idled a bit back. He tried to get me to pull into a parking space between two cars. I just said, "it's not really safe to do that". He paid up and got out. Still not convinced it wasn't a jack, but I'm pretty sure it was just that fear.
I think that his hookup or whatever called the Uber for him but he asked “is this it” because he genuinely thought it wasn’t the area because of how shady it looked. and then he wanted you to drive up the other houses because he was scared of the area possibly

Your eyes went into animal mode, you looked ready for anything. There's a book called "The Gift of Fear" I've been recommended a few times. I read through a couple chapters so far, and it's great at helping us to understand how great our gut instincts can be if we listen to them. And also how fear is what often keeps us alive. If I had to guess though.... the passenger probably didn't hear you correctly, and assumed the house was a bit further up, and he didn't wanna walk alone, in the dark, in the rain, in an odd neighborhood to him too. You handled this weird situation great.

One time, my friends and I went to a movie, and it wasn't too long after that theater shooting had happened, so right away, I"m already kind of weirded out. We sit down in our seats and in front of us a row or two is this dude in a giant ass trench coat. And right away my mind starts thinking of all the worst case scenarios, and I start thinking about what I would do if he suddenly jumped up and started shooting. At some point in the movie, the dude got up and walked up the aisle, and I don't recall him coming back to his seat. So I'm thinking "He's going to get us from behind?!" So I'm sinking down in my seat to try and hide my head. Granted, nothing ever happened. But I was literally contemplating "Okay, I'll get on the floor and army crawl under these seats to escape from this crazy guy." :F
After the theater shooting I start sitting right next or above the stairs so I could jump down and run if someone even started shooting. Definitely not the best plan but it’s at least it’s some sort of plan to get out

Something similar happened to me tonight. I had a 20’s age girl going to somewhere in sw Philly. I’m taking her to her destination and I pass her street that looked like an alley. She asked me to turn around and take her onto the street. As I flip around I go to pull on the street which was a dead end. She didn’t want to walk 15 ft..
This could mean 2 things. First is that rob is calling himself rich, which is what i thought about this whole time. The other is the hoodie telling you to literally rob the rich, which i didnt realize.
That's why in Edinburgh the taxi has armored glass between the glass and passenger. The front doors are also locked after 10 pm. If you try to open the front door after 10pm the driver drives off.

As a passenger, there's been a couple of times that I've been nervous about taxi drivers. Especially late at night and when they take you on a route you weren't expecting. One even cracked a joke when I first got in, late at night, he said he wanted the money up front, but he said it so seriously that I thought he was being serious, so it made me really nervous. It turns out, he was only testing my character. I passed, I'm a polite guy. And he was a great driver. As a grown man, I kind of felt a bit weak to feel fear, but there's no shame, it's good to be aware and consider your safety 🙂

Alex, money wise? Instacart is better in my experience. But as Eddie said, there are no customers to interact with then. Eddie, parking was never an issue for me personally but I was delivering to houses in which case I would park in front of their driveways or in the road by the house, run and drop it off, or to apartments where you park in the apartment's back parking lot or side street parking, but you're not parked long at all, maybe 1-2 minutes max : p. it was always more suburban areas though so I wouldn't know the more urban experience to be fair. :| Just writing this made me realise I actually probably had the easier experience parking wise XD certain other states and cities are probably a lot more hectic. Anyways, sorry for my ramble:| Love your channel:)

You make bank in South and Center City and most people have you leave it on their doorstep anyway, so you’re only out of the car a few seconds. Plus, the amount of times I’ve double parked or blocked the road for a few seconds and never gotten a ticket, I’d say it’s worth it 😂
Eh, my girlfriend gets me ubers all the time. For some reason her app gets cheaper rides than mine. I have drivers expecting a black girl and get a lanky white boy.
I personally loathe these services (live in a state where I'm ALWAYS taken out of my way so, I've personally stopped utilizing them-- not okay with the alley drop offs, either) but hats off for what you do and ESPECIALLY late at night. LOTS of drunk people who should NOT be behind the wheel so KUDOS! You'd make a GOOD cop (if that entire thing wasn't so corrupted). There's no law against a cop giving a person a ride home when needed and a few cops have actually done that! :) Way to keep your head cool and being AWARE! P.S. This happened to me a lot when I was an Uber driver! I live in Southern Oregon, and we're surrounded by woods! So, on occasion, I'd be driving up these long ass gravel and dirt driveways to get to someone's house, and I'd joke with my passenger... "You're not taking me up here to kill me, are you?" A lot of them would just chuckle, or tell me that they like the quiet.
The big black guy scares you because he uses a different name but doesn’t make one aggressive attempt and you wanted him to get out in walk in the rain in other videos you have had multiple white man threatening you and I never noticed once how scared you were sometimes you even shake those guys hands.

As a passenger, there's been a couple of times that I've been nervous about taxi drivers. Especially late at night and when they take you on a route you weren't expecting. One even cracked a joke when I first got in, late at night, he said he wanted the money up front, but he said it so seriously that I thought he was being serious, so it made me really nervous. It turns out, he was only testing my character. I passed, I'm a polite guy. And he was a great driver. As a grown man, I kind of felt a bit weak to feel fear, but there's no shame, it's good to be aware and consider your safety 🙂

Alex, money wise? Instacart is better in my experience. But as Eddie said, there are no customers to interact with then.
Eddie, parking was never an issue for me personally but I was delivering to houses in which case I would park in front of their driveways or in the road by the house, run and drop it off, or to apartments where you park in the apartment's back parking lot or side street parking, but you're not parked long at all, maybe 1-2 minutes max : p. it was always more suburban areas though so I wouldn't know the more urban experience to be fair. :| Just writing this made me realise I actually probably had the easier experience parking wise XD certain other states and cities are probably a lot more hectic. Anyways, sorry for my ramble:|

@@Driver_Eddie I’m a doordash driver in Philly and it’s really not bad at all! You make bank in South and Center City and most people have you leave it on their doorstep anyway, so you’re only out of the car a few seconds. Plus, the amount of times I’ve double parked or blocked the road for a few seconds and never gotten a ticket, I’d say it’s worth it 😂

I personally loathe these services (live in a state where I'm ALWAYS taken out of my way so, I've personally stopped utilizing them-- not okay with the alley drop offs, either) but hats off for what you do and ESPECIALLY late at night. LOTS of drunk people who should NOT be behind the wheel so KUDOS! You'd make a GOOD cop (if that entire thing wasn't so corrupted). There's no law against a cop giving a person a ride home when needed and a few cops have actually done that! :) Way to keep your head cool and being AWARE! P.S. Thanks for NOT wearing a petri dish, A.K.A-- those USELESS masks! Refreshing!! :)
This happened to me a lot when I was an Uber driver! I live in Southern Oregon, and we're surrounded by woods! So, on occasion, I'd be driving up these long ass gravel and dirt driveways to get to someone's house, and I'd joke with my passenger... "You're not taking me up here to kill me, are you?" A lot of them would just chuckle, or tell me that they like the quiet.
Also he paid for you to take him to his destination, not 3 houses down.

The big black guy scares you because he uses a different name but doesn’t make one aggressive attempt and you wanted him to get out in walk in the rain in other videos you have had multiple white man threatening you and I never noticed once how scared you were sometimes you even shake those guys hands.
hey man, don't know what race has to do with this. the whole point of the video is that the shady and unfamiliar side road scared me, and once i started thinking through the lens of fear, its easy to get irrational and paranoid. i think i even said in this video that he was a nice dude. as far as the videos with the guys threatening me, they could've been any color under the sun and i still would have been scared for my safety. appreciate you watching though and i hope i could clear up your confusion, no need for that kind of race baiting on my channel

This entire video is the driver lost in fear in his head where the passenger literally doesn’t say anything or do anything. Such an unnecessary reaction. Driver is afraid of black people and I guess certain Philly neighborhoods but nothing verbally or physically occurred that would justify this crushing paranoia. Probably shouldn’t drive for Uber or not at night if you’re this afraid of what could be and can’t rationalize the lack of anything actually happening.
