      This isn't the case for every child and especially adults during their experiences as children. There are so many that deal with racism at such a young age, even and especially by other youth. And it is usually because children repeat taught behavior, especially bigotry.

      I’m glad someone noticed, when we learned about race and MLK in I think 3rd or 4th grade my neighbor called me a racist for telling her to please move her bikes off our front lawn that have been there for a week. Kids shouldn’t learn about race when they’re so impressionable. people aren’t naturally racist, it’s taught. So kids should be able to live growing up exposed to different races and ideas so they know it’s normal for people to be different. I don’t think things like this should be learned till highschool at the earliest, kids are nasty and emotional in middle school and highschool.

      Racism doesn’t exist in the same way anymore. Whatever the media is parroting, is what the government and society is pushing. Time and time again we see that being an anti white narrative, not the reverse.

    I have to be honest here, when he said that he faced racism I though it was the usual kind of racism (you know, like some white people being assholes due to his skin and so on) but I had never thought a black man from Africa could get rejection and racism from black-Americans. It kinda makes sense as I know that in the past centuries some older italians/Irish immigrants who had already integrated in the US society did display hate and racism towards new Italian/Irish immigrants, as I learned in my school, but I still didn't expect that nor realise how similar these situations are. I'm an Italian guy and I've lived in Italy my whole life, so thank the Lord I've never had to go through this. I'm deeply sorry for anyone who goes through these bad experiences, I hope you all will hold strong 💪

Super polite, but warm and open at the same time. One time I was wearing a shirt that said Tanzania on it, and a black man came up to me very excited saying "I am from there! I can't believe someone who isn't black is wearing a Tanzania shirt" and we both had a really good convo.

      I was in Tanzania 3 years ago, it was fantastic, everyone was very accommodating. It could seriously do with investment though: roads are limited to 50 mph and no street lights. Saw people cutting grass in 32C with scythes. It seems that China is mostly involved with infrastructure investment (first with Uhuru railway, now with many construction and dock projects). Some African people I speak to see it as neoimperialism (as does Admiral Sestak), others are more sympathetic.

      Ah, such a rare ocurrence, a person, a human with soul and emotion, so delicately and briefly understanding and marveling at the true beaty of human connection. I can't explain it but in a way it's incredible and such a warming, treasured feeling of mine when I observe sympathy, harmony, and mutual companionship through what can be so unremarkable and simple of an interaction. I didn't cry but, I perfectly understand what you mean.. We are very sentimental beings and I find that to be both a disadvantage and an advantage in daily life.. But it is beautiful. Beautiful.. You, @TheDestruktr , are a very very rare specimen of the youtube comments.. I always feel very alone when I find something of such a simple and natural nature so touching, and I always am left to think that I'm just.. weird, that I'm just different.. That I think too deeply about simple things, and it very much excites me and fills me with happiness to see the words "I actually started to cry".. Thank you so much for this comment.

      Damn, is this really such a big deal? I mean I'm from Slovakia, where there are barely any black people, so I always assumed most people in a situation like this would act the same. The fact that this brought you to tears is alarming. The fact that this is seen as something extraordinary. Damn

      @swiftsword6489 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Luksed12 Yeah I actually do agree with you, despite my previous reply, which I still stand by to, I think that the fact that this type of kindness and interaction between people *isn't* normal is kind of sad, and people shouldn't be treating kind people as heroes as if they were doing something "extraordinary" like you said, they're just simply being nice and being standard, like you'd expect. In the US, many people are so *un*kind and full of themselves that the normal ends up being selfishness and rudeness. It's not like that in all parts of the world though and a lot of people specifically in the US don't realize that. I lived in the US for 13 years of my life and when I was 14 in 2019 I moved to Argentina, in South America due to my parents being from here and financial/family related reasons and I almost feel like people are too nice over here like idk, people just smile and help you out and you can like walk up to someone on the street and ask for idk directions and, maybe it's just me but I felt like the people in the US, at least the in part that I lived in, weren't so kind to strangers and just so chill in general. A lot more to be said here but I don't wanna be like those redditors lol so, appreciate if you read this, if not tbh I don't blame you. That's just how I feel

    • @Dstruktr
      @Dstruktr 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Luksed12 @Luksed I dont understand your point. I wasnt referring to the rarity of people being nice to each other, I was referring to the quality of the interaction that was had here. The passenger had no problem opening up to his driver about many different things in his life, and the driver was very receptive and pleasant. These two formed a bond during the span of a car ride. That's what I'm talking about. I'm not a very cultured person so learning about the way of life for other people always grasps me. In a world that grows increasingly divided this brought light to my day. Sorry, I guess I'm too human. I'll go change that.

    He is one of the most friendly people ive ever seen. I find the one on one interactions we have in the real world like this with anyone of any race gender or religion. Tend to be the most influential ones. When youre in a vehicle with somebody and you both feel comfortable and smiling. Youre more willing to share than in a group of people who are all different. You learn a lot. You realize we are all so similar. He reminds me of an Indian guy who worked at his fathers convenience store down the road from where I lived. He was like mid 20's early 30's. Super friendly guy and absolutely loved to talk about how much culture shock he experienced coming to America and how friendly people tend to be. He was such a nice guy and his dad was too. His dad was the old school aggressive stand offish kind of muslim man. Very traditional. But super friendly guy once you got him talking. He didnt know english very well but his kids did. They were such nice people and i applaud them for taking the opportunities in this country some of us dont. Come at people with kindness and love and you might meet someone who could change your entire perspective on the world/country you live in

Before I left the car I mentioned really wanting to try a cultural dish of his, fufu & egusi, we had a laugh about it and soon went out separate ways. I love this video. It reminds me of an African Uber driver I had in London, we got talking on similar subjects and I became curious about where he is from. He told me that earlier that day he had been at his brothers African style wedding and promptly pulled over, took me out of the car to the trunk to show me the outfit he had been wearing and to give me some goodies from the wedding.
    Like this guy says, screw stereotypes and don't make assumptions. There are good and bad humans in all races and the good far outweighs the bad. Don't allow the media to poison your mind and remember to keep your heart open to people from all walks of life, trust me it feels great!

    • @deeethier1544
      @deeethier1544 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not all stereotypes are bad though , theres plenty that are positive attributes to specific cultures
      Like the fact that Asians are looked at as academically advanced and hard working, thats a stereotype, but its also not wrong.
      Or that black people are more physically advanced or better at sports, thats a stereotype but its also accurate
      Even the negative ones arent at bad as long as it's not interfering with how you treat people
      Like the stereotype that white people can't dance, its a negative stereotype but its funny because it's true.. and it doesn't hurt anyone to hold that stereotype
      Or that black people love fried chicken
      Its a steryotyoe and its true, which makes it funny
      Then only time stereotypes are inappropriate is when they dictate how to treat other people without actually knowing them, but there's such thing as harmless stereotypes.

    The title is a play on Emmanuel Acho’s segment by the same name, (if you enjoyed this video, check his out, you might enjoy his as well). But the thing is... those conversations in Acho’s segments never happen in real life to the average joe (of any race). I kind of hate the title in the sense that I think it’s ridiculous to reduce Muhammad to “a black man” just as it would be if I reduced him to “a guy wearing a green jacket.” Second, nothing about this was uncomfortable. I think that’s what people don’t realize when imagining interacting with someone different than them: people are only as different as you believe them to be, and it’s only going to be as uncomfortable as you believe it to be. Hope you guys enjoy the video, would love to hear your thoughts on it.

    8:36 The stereotyping is terrible. I'm black, and I attended a predominantly white schools. It was always hard for me to make friends, well it still is (I don't think I have any) hadn't seen or spoken to a friend in over 4 years. I do engage with their social media profiles but they never seem to engage with mine (Sara does. I love you Sara). At any-rate, the school I attended only had a hand full of black people, and oddly enough, a major majority of the kids in the school would self-segregate. This is something adults do as well it's disgusting, but probably human nature.
    I was never really a big fan of 2000's > rap music, (after cash money Everybody get your roll on I just had it with money, cars, and hoes, and of course gun bars. Also I was never materialistic like that, in fact I despised materialism so it was only natural that I just lost interest in a lot of rap music. BUT I was unaware of how big an issue that would create for me. I struggled to make black friends, because I didn't reflect that rap culture enough, I suppose. Like Obama, I speak in paragraph form and annunciate my words clearly, as my father taught me (gee, thanks dad). But I may trip over some of words and I have a slight stutter, so I guess that makes me more like Biden. I think my speech patterns are what they'd pick up on. Immediately, they'd interrupt to ask one of the shittiest questions in human history, "why do you talk white?" Talk White? My dumb ass, listening to my dad's out of touch advice again, would usually respond in kind, "I talk right not white." In hindsight I realize this is may have been taken as an insult, as I'm not only defending myself I'm insulting the other person who CHOOSES to speak that way. I never embraced the ignorance as my peers of the same race did. (Being smart wasn't something they (mostly guys) valued as much as I did (presumably of course)). So I never really got along with the black kids as well as I wanted to. I never felt I was missing out on anything because they were always so enveloped in rap, and rap culture, everything was always about rap music. (again this was mostly if not all the males)
    On the other end of the spectrum there's the white kids. They were different. if I'm being 100% honest I envied the fact that they could be anything they wanted, and just be left alone. They could be rednecks, hillbillies, country, goths, geeks, nerds, recluse, preppy, or just plain normal and usually no one would mess with them about their personality. But if you were black, your whole world had to be rap music or face being ostracized and/or bullied (the black girls didn't really care too much about your personality reflecting rap culture. They were always nice, when they weren't going off on someone who probably deserved it). However whereas the black kids would actually engage with me initially before the ostracization, certain sects of the white kids would never interact with me. It always seemed like the ones what would, I'd first have to demonstrate that I'm not like 'the other black people' (I felt gross typing that). Some of the white kids would even come up to me, and just flat out say it, "you're not like the other black people," *Blink *Blink, oh pray tell, "what do you mean?" I'd ask. "Well you don't ACT BLACK," they'd manage to eke out, as my teeth clenched, in order to ensure my facial reaction wouldn't change. They say this almost as if they were relieved to find this out, and I'd be offended if it weren't so cringe-worthy. But I guess if I'm putting myself in their shoes, finally getting the chance to talk to a black person 1 on 1 like that you'd have some questions, so usually I'd just laugh it off, responding, "yeah I know," and we'd change that awkward subject quickly. Man bridging racial gaps is hard for some people.
    To all the geeks, nerds and goths out there, I always appreciated you guys the most, race was never an issue.
    sorry I'm typing so much. I must be socially starved.. I don't even care if anyone ever reads this. This was therapeutic for me, and if you did get this far I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading.

      I don’t think he meant it as in he was in an uncomfortable situation with the man himself, I’m pretty sure he meant that the conversation topics themselves can be an uncomfortable thing to talk about. Especially with someone you just met.

      "it was all hinging on this moment" I thought, as I felt a bead of sweat begin to form under the brim of my favorite hat.
      I look at his hand to start calculating the trajectory of what I hoped would be my Magnum Opus of shake-ups.
      Our eyes looking away, after locking for the last time.
      I sincerely say "it was nice to meet you man" moments before my hand approaches terminal velocity, perfectly on target.
      -
      it lands perfectly, just like the simulations.
      I didn't know it then, but everyone around the world began clapping as the raw energy of our shake-up permeated across the world faster than the speed of light.
      -
      "Alright sounds good man, I hope you have a good one!"
      and just like that, it was over; a fleeting moment.
