    That helps explain a lot, but a few things were not there, as expected.
    1- cost of prints, for same model as an example. Filament VS resin per print
    2- strength of end product... for example... PLA VS Resin

    Excellent and thanks for this. Good point you make about 'tinkering'. At first I was a bit put off to think that you spend money on a printer and it may or may not work that well out of the box, but I now realise that that is all part of the process (and price)!

    Love the fact that you are educating people on the differences. However, a quick note on SLA, there are two specific mechanisms to SLA, it’s SLA Masking via DLP or LCD and direct focused UV radiation known as laser. Though they are generally regarded as the same process, they use very different mechanisms. SLA is an umbrella technique that encompasses different mechanisms to accomplish the same goal. We are doing the community an injustice by using this term as a singular action . We should identify the technologies as SLA-Laser, SLA-DLP, SLA-LCD, etc. And really maybe just combine DLP and LCD as SLA-Mask (SLAM) Just to cut down on the confusion. Hope I helped more then confused.

    Hi there from Pennsylvania. I think your videos are terrific and I’m learning a great deal, but I’m very new to 3-D printing and consider myself beautifully brutal about them. I would like to know what you would recommend for my needs. Basically, I would like to make car and truck accessories there a custom made for certain vehicle models, such as cell phone holders, hooks, and switch pod mounts. But some of these accessories are also long and run the width of the vehicle, such as light bars or racks. Eventually, these molds would be mass produced in a better quality plastic, or in the case of light bars, into metal. So I’m looking to make a master mold, but some of them will be very long and that’s where I get confused because some beds seems small. Do you have any suggestions?

    Thank's for clearing this up. Great video. I have a question though.

    Thank's

    • @TeachingTech
      @TeachingTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are fairly strong and have some flex, but past a certain point they snap easily. You can get special resins for your purpose, I'm yet to test them.

    • @FooBar89

      that's not a printer feature, but a resin feature, some of the resins are as strong and could be used beyond prototyping

  • @FooBar89
    @FooBar89 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    SLA and DLP is the same thing, a laser can technically produce more accurate results as there are limitations to how small the micro mirrors can get, though with an optical system micro mirrors could get in the same ballpark

    • @TeachingTech
      @TeachingTech  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some people (not me) get very upsetting seeing them grouped together. I'm currently reviewing a peopoly Moai, it's closer to FDM speed which is impressing me. Accuracy is great too.

    • @FooBar89
      @FooBar89 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      one other advantage of a laser system vs DLP is that you own all the IP and do not depend on any third party custom DLP chips, you mostly can do with just off the shelf parts, the laser wavelength is something like 400nm which is 0.0004mm, so the theoretical capabilities of a laser system are quite high

    • @pentachronic
      @pentachronic 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would disagree that they are the same thing. DLP exposes 2D image as a flash (shadow mask), whereas a laser scans a raster and turns on/off accordingly. SLA can be thought of like a vector display of yesteryear (remember Asteroids in the arcades ?). However a laser spot size can be incredibly small which means you gain resolution (at the cost of time).

    Not sure why your speaking volume is about half the level of the music when you switch to title cards. Since you go back and forth several times throughout the video, this necessitated me changing the volume down and up several times. I'd suggest normalizing to the same (or much closer) max volume between the title card music sequences and the speaking sequences.
