I remember when I had a cavity I had to get laughing gas and when I got out when I tried to drink water my mouth was numb and I couldn’t even hold the water in my mouth for a split second, it was terrible.

I don't react to Novocaine like most people: I sometimes don't get numb at all or if I do it only works for a short time (and I've had problems with other local anesthetics for other things too). So when I have dental work done, they have to do a nerve block on me. It works, but it does scare me because if they mess up, I could end up with permanent nerve damage to the facial nerve.

A nerve, I know this from personal experience and it takes forever for feeling to come back. So much so, you literally have a panic attack, thinking you're going to look like that for the rest of your life, no joke. Probably a good two-three hours AFTER the original numbing stuff wears off (words are hard this early, lol) and you shouldn't be feeling the laughing gas, AT ALL, by time you leave

I had this happen to me once because I had a very bad cavity in my back tooth so my dentist did that to me by hitting a nerve so i wont feel pain

Whenever I got a filling done, I never got numbing done because it didn't hurt. I hate waiting for the numbing to go away. I'll only get it if I need a reconnel or a tooth pulled.
