I’m in a bit of a dilemma. I’ve got a really deep bite and was told I need braces. I’m 37 and it does affect me sometimes. I get headaches and clench my teeth from it. Is it too late to get them fixed or should I just live with it? I was told about the braces thing about a year ago.
If your site had a reasonably priced, non-mint fluoride toothpaste i would buy a half dozen lol. There are a lot of us who don't tolerate mint well and it burns (seriously, Google it lol).
I'm currently using Colgate winterfresh and even it's too strong. I've tried kids paste but they're either disgustingly sweet or have so much colour added that it's bitter. All the non mint ones don't have fluoride or are ridiculously expensive.
Citrus & fennel, are good flavours but unflavoured would be fantastic.

My daughter is currently in braces and at her last check up she was supposed to get them off. However, due to her ALWAYS wearing her rubber bands correctly she overcorrected her teeth. Now the orthodontist is using a different band on her braces to fix the overcorrection. When she was very young she had to wear an eye patch to make sure she didn’t lose sight in one eye. I taught her she had to wear it every day (which I consistently made sure we complied with her eye doctor’s instructions) so she didn’t lose sight in her eye. This habit carried over to her just following the orthodontist’s instructions consistently because I taught her you just have to do it. The orthodontist said he rarely sees kids that comply so consistently hence the reason they didn’t realize she had overcorrected her teeth. I’m so proud of her but feel bad she’s stuck in braces longer now.

I had the exact same problem! But it was fixed a month later and I still wear my retainer every night, so 10 years later my teeth still look the exact same as when I got my braces off, I'm really happy with them

I was an assistant in an orthodontist office for 11 years, This was 30!!!!! years ago. It was such a pleasure to see these kids go from introvert to so much confidence and smiling and laughing all the time. It truly is a GIFT given.

The craziest thing when I got my braces over 10 years ago is that they made my teeth look so much straighter so fast. It still took a little over a year before I was completely done, but just having them look so much straighter, even though I still had my braces, already made me like my teeth so much more. And braces aren't nearly as ugly as my teeth were when they were super janky, so it didn't bother me to still have them on hahah

Just a tip for tonsil Stones - gargle twice a day after you brush....the gargling removes everything.

why feel bad? my friend did her own veneers and they look amazing and she can floss lol
I actually got professional veneers (not my choice, but enamel deficiency on top of already bad teeth before im even 18, veneers were the only way to save my smile/face).
Always get them professionally done.
Theres so much risk going into it, because your gluing a cap onto your teeth like a little hat or a blanket. You do not want holes in that, or spaces n gaps. Because it can cause more problems and cavities. I know because im dealing with 1 side absolutely killing me right now..
TLDR; Brush your teeth. Go to the dentist. Dont do dental at home. Always go see a professional.
here’s a reminder to get ur teeth checked if you feel irritated, I had my teeth feeling weird and uncomfortable for a few days after I got my fillings in, then I later realised the filling had actually got put in too far and hit my tooth bone and vain! I was scared and I got paranoid so I didn’t go to the dentist, 5 month later I later realised I had chipped that tooth and it looked all stubby. Then I eventually tasted disgusting tastes and realised I had a decaying cavity, mediately i was like oh my.. I went to my professional dentist and then later realised it was a lot worse that I thought. I had a decaying tooth and a abscess in my mouth, I got my toth out and I now have a silver tooth.
Always love seeing your videos! I recently had my first bad experience at my ortho office with a new assistant. She was acting like I inconvenienced her by being there (I had an appointment). She was fixing the permanent retainer on my top teeth and hit my lip a couple times with the grinder. Each time she acted like nothing happened. OUCHIES! Had a fat lip for a while 😭 I won't let her touch me again.
At my orthodontics place lots of the staff are very moody. It was so awkward getting my scans done 😂
My orthodontist pulled out 3 teeth without anesthesia and the others said "yes but it doesn't hurt to have your teeth pulled" and when I told them "there was no anesthesia" they said that they saw why I was in pain
I've had 3 teeth pulled without anything to and honestly it wasn't to bad but when I had 8 pulled with anesthesia it was much worse

5:44 me too girlie, but I didn't get rubber bands. I was born with a mouth problem and they needed to widen my pallet as well as fix my jaw since it was pushed quite far back. I have braces as well. I've had this in my mouth for almost a year and I get it removed in two months
Your videos give me so much information and i actually helped my family and told them whats going on. My grandma was a dentist she didnt even know what happened with her daughter, THEN I STEPPED IN AND SAVED THE DAYYYYYYY now they are subbed to you :)

Hearing that whitening toothpastes are a scam makes me really glad that I don't care; I just go for the enamel-strengthening toothpaste.

I have really crowded teeth, I used to be insecure, I thought nobody would date me like that and stuff, but I've grown to love them over time, plus I was so afraid of braces, and couldn't afford it, now I'm a full grown up person and I still have my cute crazy weird teeth, but they are mine
I used to get tonsil stones all the time and I just sucked on my tonsil to suck them out. Getting my tonsils removed was one of the best things that ever happened for me.

Had a Herbst before rubber bands. Yes my bite was that bad. Like when I smiled I looked like I had no teeth on my lower jaw.
Tbh once I got used to the Herbst it didn't hurt nearly as much as the rubber bands did. The rubber bands felt like they were ripping my teeth out.

I had my tonsils taken out and had to wear braces for 3.5 years (I sucked my thumb until I was 8). I had the weird molar to molar jaw thingie, not because I didn’t wear my rubber bands, I guess I just had a severe overbite. I then had to wear rubber bands, which I did hate wearing, but eventually I got my braces off and I was so relieved.
But also remember!! You Don’t Need Perfectly White Teeth Because It Can Damage Your Teeth Or Enamel And It’s Not Healthy! Your Teeth Can Have. Tiny Yellow Tint!

"just wear your rubber bands" well I didn't even had the option to do so. Maybe the ortho was scared of my ADHD but they put me in Malu (an updated version of Herbst appliance) straight in the beginning. I could either remove 4ths and have only braces or wisdoms and have appliance too. I choose wisdoms
Bentist I have been watching your videos for so long and the reason why is because I want to be an orthodontist when I grow up but by watching your videos, I learn a lot of orthodontist stuff so sometimes my friends talk about their teeth. I have to get an impacted tooth removal soon and unlike a wisdom tooth, it’s wedged underneath two of my premolars leaving a space between,and it’s under the bone so it has to be removed similar to how a wisdom tooth is

For the herbst, I got my teeth assessed by an orthodontist and they said, and I will remember this to this day:
You will NEED to wear a herbst for the whole six years. You'll need three years of top braces and the herbst, then three years of top and bottom braces with the herbst. Then you'll likely need to wear headgear at night for the rest of your life.
My mother took one look at the price and ... well, my overbite is still big enough to fit my pinkie finger between lmao. Just posting to say that the herbst might have been the only way to fix their overbite, like they said in my case!
Ha ha. I don't have to worry about this. My tonsels were completely extracted when I was very little.

I always wondered... how do they make dentures for people that don't have any teeth since they have no teeth to make a mold from?
I've had braces for over 12 years and i didn't even have crooked teeth to begin with. All of it was because my initial dentist couldn't tell that the only way to fix my jaw was through surgery and instead made me wear braces for many years with no results until I finally had enough and switched dentists. They told me I had to get accessed for jaw surgery and started to then align my teeth with the purpose of having them align properly after I get the surgery to align my jaws. Still waiting on the surgery because the public health system takes ages to get any non-emergency procedures done.

Day 3 of braces really isn’t that bad. I mean I just got braces 2 weeks ago they hurt but not that much. I got scared because they made my teeth wiggly, but then I realized they were supposed to do that. Lol
