There are plenty of amazing car channels out there with insanely good builds; supercars, $100k+ custom race cars or offroad buggies... they are great and all, but nothing will ever be as entertaining as a Garage54 modifying a lada with some crazy contraption.
That trailer is awesome!!!! Hey you can market as a EV car accessory for places where charging stations are too far appart😅 gotta do more videos with this trailer
I was thinking the opposite, an electric trailer. You could squeeze some electric motors under say a caravan, where as a big chunky ICE would never go, plus a battery pack would be very useful otherwise in a caravan. the batteries could charge in any downhill runs etc.
It's obvious who would win. Heaver trailer plus the car would be using rear wheel drive pulling itself. This would be a useless waste of time because simple physics say otherwise.
@SuperFGeeT , I think the Lada would win because most of the trailer weight is on the tongue transferring to the rear wheels of the Lada and minimal weight on the trailer wheels.
You guys never disappoint. I was totally happy with the first video, but a part of me wanted to know what it would do off road with a welded diff. And here it is:) you're the real ones
Hello garage54, I have a suggestion. Can you please make a transparent casing for a wet clutch gearbox if you have not already I would like to see how they operate
The setup you got there is similiar to that in articulated buses. Most of them have the engine in the last section, and the last axle is the driven one. That's why every such bus have a double wheel axle not only at the very back, but at the rear of the first section also, although this one is not driven. But if there were only a single wheel on each side, the back of the bus would want to push the first section out on every turn, as the grip would be insufficient. That still sometimes happens, especially in wintertime, when there's snow or ice on the road. A bit too much gas on a turn and the bus jackknifes. If it does and the angle gets too narrow, there is no way to straighten it up. Passengers have to get out and the bus driver waits there in the middle of the road for an assistance truck, that hooks up to the front of the bus and pulls on it. Only then it will straighten up.
Ikarus made articulated busses with the engine in the middle - and also made the rear axle steerable. You make a turn in a single lane. Today Hungary is left on relying on Chinese investments for its automotive industry, as there's almost nothing left of this record holding manufacturer any more.
man they need to start making these, for anyone with like a 2wd truck that still wants to go off-roading/camping, this would allow that. and also carry some additional load also, but can be removed when not needed.. i can really see these being sold somewhere. or rented, even like you did with cars, just need a good hitch. c00l idea!
Indeed! However those have double wheel axle at the middle to provide extra grip. However in winter you still can jackknife them. As that can be reversed only by pulling the bus at the front, it's almost impossible to straighten it up without help.
the buses have a computer control system and two hydraulic cylinders to control the articulation. my dad was a sf (muni) bus mechanic and told me a story of the articulation computer losing its mind during a test drive on a bus that was throwing nonsensical articulation codes. As my dad was driving the bus down the windy section of 101 near the mission district the bus suddenly jackknifed and completely lost control and spun out on the freeway. the bus and my dad were very lucky to not get hurt.
Such a cool video I love the drifting and I believe this could actually become a new form of racing a car with nothing in it but a working suspension and working brake system and then a trailer with an overpowered engine that would be cool to see 20 to 30 cars like that flying around a racetrack
I think you just started a trend ... The world drift trailer series . lol About ten seconds before the tire let go I said this will soon happen . lol Great series guys .
for overlanding ofroad expeditions I could see trailers with electric motors being pretty helpful actually.... A bit of electronics to cut off power to one wheel when jackknifing - could be done with an rc gyro- and it would be a perfect little helper....
Sooooo glad to see this again haha. I wanted to say id love to see it pull up to give someone a race that didn't know about the second motor lol edit> The off roading was awesome hahaha
Very well done experiment. try turning the engine around using a chain to translate the motion 180º, the engine would sit above the axle, if carefully balanced. The trail then could be shorter. than race it.
If they solid mount the trailers suspension for the axle, it will prevent the drive shaft from movement up/down and in and out of the transmission thus preventing it from grenading. A short driveshaft with that much axle movement equals a short life for involved components.
This would be a good addition to any off-road trailer. Do it with electric and have dual or turning controls. Like turning brakes if you know what I mean
usually in a trailer you want the load balanced and I wonder if that weight being in front of the axel changes its performance due to extra weight on the rear of the car.
That's fun to see a trailer equipped with a 1JZ pushing a Lada but what about a trailer equipped with a 2JZ and 2 axles (yes...4 wheel drive on the trailer) pushing a Class G (8 wheel drive with 600 or 700hp 300hp on the class G and 300hp in the trailer) oh no! I've just had an idea : a LS in the class G and a LS in the trailer (without any difficulties they can get 2000hp and 8 wheels drive) 🤪🤪🤪
No use putting a bigger radiator in, or any radiator if you put it hard up against the side of the trailer it won't get any air flow into it. F@#ken funny and a bloody good idea.
I wonder how hard it would be to set up a transfer case between the trailer axle in the rear axle of the car to work in tandem from one engine as a 4 by 4 system but you definitely wouldn't be able to jackknife at the universal and not handle that angle unless you did multiple universals and drive shafts between the car and the trailer but would be a cool experiment
Need to convert the trailer into an off road rv camper trailer with engine under cabin to use as auxiliary generator while parked but use baby honda engine for generator and Toyota's engine for air-conditioning and heating 😊
That was really great, I wonder what would happen if you could control power of each wheel on the trailer.. This is going to be the new drift sport in Japan. Is it against the law to use a motorized trailer?
_"It suffered catastrophic failure I mean it was still in somewhat working condition but with what broke exactly such as the shaft it was beyond repair"_ - That is what she said.
Trailer drifting...
Hillclimbing with a trailer...

I ❤ Lada! Tee Shirts, coming soon. 2025
The trailer has more horsepower than the Lada. Lol
Haa you are correct sir
This isn't the full video - it's just the trailer.
They sure are dragging it out a bit. 😂
👏👏👏
This is not the greatest video in the world, no, this is just a trailer.
(Muted Trumpet) Wha, Wha, Wha, Whaaa!! I LOVE It!! ❤👍

This is 107 percent pure fun if anything is. you guys never disappoint us with the videos. perfect.
TUG OF WAR. TRAILER IN REVERSE AND LADA IN DRIVE !!!
Exactly my thoughts
It's obvious who would win. Heaver trailer plus the car would be using rear wheel drive pulling itself. This would be a useless waste of time because simple physics say otherwise.
Thats the point of channel try everything thet doesnt make sense
You can't put a Lada in drive as they're not automatic ☺️
@SuperFGeeT , I think the Lada would win because most of the trailer weight is on the tongue transferring to the rear wheels of the Lada and minimal weight on the trailer wheels.
Now this video looks like it was a blast to take part in, lots of fun!🎉
You guys are great. All the work that goes into these videos awesome.

That’s the sweetest tarp covered trailer of mankind
You could surprise someone in a fast car.
Take off and leave or keep up with them while pulling a trailer in a Lada.
The trailer throttle should be activated by pull on of the hitch, reverse action of trailer brake actuator.
Only maybe . Should does not come into it
You really made that 1JZ proud with the drifting.

In the Netherlands all articulated busses have the drive on the rear axle of the front part.
You should do an electric version. Trailer battery and motor to turn any Lada into a hybrid... it would help the environment by 107% lol😂

Wow in the intro you went all out with this thing !! 0:23
The air intake located right behind the radiator and just above the exhaust is a real performance killer.

Is this what driving an articulated bus is like?
Indeed! However those have double wheel axle at the middle to provide extra grip. However in winter you still can jackknife them. As that can be reversed only by pulling the bus at the front, it's almost impossible to straighten it up without help.

Finally a way to play tug-of-war with your own trailer
They should do drifting with trailers. You just made the new sport.
15:48 can see the belts on tire sparking like crazy!
Donuts with a trailer...IT'S NUTS!
Awesome did what I wanted to see, off road use too!
Okay, please. You have to take that trailer to a burnout competition. I swear it will win first place.
That's one way to groom the trail!
Jamie Adam Grant and Kari would approve
I'd like to see the trailer with an electric motor. Fun video as always.
@ 5:00 they were going for the full Michael Bay action and suspense treatment with the puddle shot and the Lada.
' The Fast and The Furious 15, Trailer Drift! ' 😂😂😂
IDEA: is it possible to make an engine run using the intake system as the exhaust and the exhaust as the intake? You know what i mean?
It was possible in 2-strokes. You just needed to start them backwards, which was absolutely possible.
Sooooo glad to see this again haha. I wanted to say id love to see it pull up to give someone a race that didn't know about the second motor lol edit> The off roading was awesome hahaha

Great to see Vlad wearing his seatbelt ;-0
Needs a hydraulic cylinder on the hitch to adjust the angle to steer in sticky situations, which can be disengaged when driving normally.
Trailer on tracks? And maybe a three point hitch connection? Stabilizer bars with shocks?
😂 i think you invented a new motor sport, trailer drifting! Lol
What a trailer!

Looks like fun.
You should modify the cooling system so that it can get more airflow. The trailer side is gonna block alot of airflow
Some kind of simple trailer brake. Maybe catch the jacknife.

Mount the trailer over the roof onto the front of the lada. That way the push is on the front and not on the rear causing a spun out😂
Wife said it's about time they (trailers)pull there own weight. Lol
Yep, you need to mass produce these and sell them!
That was really great, I wonder what would happen if you could control power of each wheel on the trailer..
This is going to be the new drift sport in Japan.
Is it against the law to use a motorized trailer?
Epic video
Would it be any better of a couple of springs were welded to the back of the Lada to act as an anti jack-knife system?
This counts as Part Time Performance Mods. When you want to go fast, you hook up the Trailer
Zdorovaa!! 😂
Try next time putting dual tires under the trailer ❤
And a whole new motorsport was invented that day.
