People who have made fun of low horsepower rated large displacement V8 gasoline engines have never driven one. The torque, the toughness, they are more motor than anyone thinks. Easy to underestimate.
I agree. I will take one of those over a tiny displacement four cylinder with twin turbos and a supercharger any day. Plus the sound makes a big difference. Now, let's talk about repairing one. Yes, I know, my Jeep takes 16 spark plugs, but the torque of the V-8 makes all the difference.

The old big V8 gasolin engine matched the G wagon like they was build for each other. The Torque from the V8 with the Gs four wheel drive and suspension, and the big offroad tires, worked extremely good in the wet deep mud. I believe all viewers became surprised and impressed with this performance. 👍
I strongly believe it was the driver who made the Mercedes look so good. Sometimes people don't want to hear the truth about why someone can do something better. A lot of people used the excuse that you have x y and z on your truck and I don't. It really comes down to the driver. Back in the early 80s when I was drag racing after I did a lot of modifications and switched to strictly track tires I could not get my car to go any faster than it did before doing all that work. a good friend of mine asked me if I would let him take the car for the next round. He did and he took off a half a second. That's when I realized I have to learn to drive my car better. Since now we know there were no issues. I really enjoyed your video.

Lower tire pressures needed to maximize change in tire shape as it rotates to help fling/evacuate mud from treads. Too-hard tires don't change in shape enough to fling mud or snow off.
Still made it that far on street tires. Put the mud slingers on the prado and we will see. You think the Toyota is that cheap made German BS? That is why the engine got swapped.
I don’t know what engine used to have this specific G Wagon but V8s are pretty reliable as well as OM606 Prado is a good of roader especially with the option of rear locker and of course good tires but you can’t compare it with the G Wagon, those things are beast for off road, triple locker, solid front and rear axle, and depend of the engine a lot more power This one in the video seems like some of the lockers are not working though min 14:55
