Can I make a couple of suggestions? One, consider a door to the outside area from the room you're putting the bunks in, near the side of the other bedrooms. It's a way for others to get in with disturbing youngsters in or out of the bunks. Plus, there is another way out. Second, having an outdoor shower is especially helpful due to having only one. But handy to avoid sand in the house.
@@JAMIEANDSARAHAnother view from a grandma’s POV. My daughter would hate the kids (12 & 9) having access to the outside. AND having a door someone else could open. A good solid locking system could solve both problems. The door issue would be a deal breaker for my daughter choosing a short term rental.
KEEP THE PLAYER PIANO!! 😊 Our family is already talking about renting your place next summer. The piano would be so fun! Our family song is "You are my sunshine" so it would be a cool memory having all 12 of us singing around the piano together 😊 I would also leave it in its natural color, but that's just a personal choice. Hoping to be there next summer!
I have a large family and the idea of sleeping so many people sounds great. Jamie mentioned that the dining table might be too much for the space - but if I have 4-15 people I would like the large table. Perhaps leaves can be taken out and stored in the "huge" pantry. The many wooden chairs take up valuable space - maybe add folding chairs to the storage space. Great find - will enjoy watching the progress!
Looks absolutely stunning! If you can keep those tiles please do, it's so hard to find unique tiles these days and in your scenario it looks super possible to keep. Love the inspo and all of your plans, I can't wait to watch along 😍
I’m really excited about this content!! Hope so see everything…even the tiny things you think are boring!! Start to finish from renovations to being live on Airbnb. Even how that Airbnb does. Super excited to watch!
Wow! great place. My recommendation is to make the space have a designated bedroom because many of us "grandparents" have different "hours of operation", meaning we need a separate bedroom to keep the peace. :)
I think the hot tub in the ivy sounds dreamy, but it is so far away from the main house that I can’t imagine walking back in the winter wet from sitting in a hot tub. Just something to consider.
I love the tile in the bathroom with all the random things its really unique and wonderful ❤I would not leave that music with the piano for risk of getting destroyed
What a great property, very exciting! Just an idea, a lighted and heated pathway from a new hot tub/gazebo in the ivy field to both the main and boat houses
I vote keep the player piano. I grew up with one. They are fun and communal. QRS still sells piano rolls and comes out with special Holiday rolls every year. Fun to gather around and sing some songs especially around Christmas time.
Hi Sarah & Jamie Congrats on the new property. Just a thought re the office desk area near the window yes get rid of that desk but maybe replace with desk/table that fits the vibe of the place. Some people may appreciate somewhere to setup their laptops to do whatever. Just a thought. You have just given me a new 'label' instead of aged pensioner I am now 'mid century modern' as I was born in 1957😂😂😂 Have fun with all that you are going to do. Looking forward to seeing it all come together 😊😊😊
Wonderful happy for you both. Lots of work ahead. You'll want a locked pantry to keep things for restocking, etc. Just things you will need but not want the renters to use or take with them .
You guys make me get super Duper excited and that’s not even my property 🤗🤗🤗 Can’t wait to see the transformation 😍 God is good 🙏🏼 Greetings from the Coachella Valley 🌴
Keep that bathroom!!! You can update some of the fixtures, but that tile is so unique and still looks really cool. And I vote keeping the player piano, too! But please, please, PLEASE get it tuned, it sounds horrible right now 😅
Wow! This is awesome . Here in Glendale az we have a thrift shop called "White dove" that benefits hospice. They had a BUNCH of piano music rolls (no piano). Also the good will down the street on 63rd ave and bell road had a huge com.plete mcm set of dishes in the morning star pattern by dalton. Just fabulous for your renovation updates.... ?
The first thought i had was that the piano would get destroyed 😂. You could put plexiglass over the keys and the window where the music goes and maybe that would protect it but make it still usable.
This could be a beautiful venue for family reunions, weddings, anniversaries or even company retreats. You would need to add way more bathrooms for these options
I used to be a florist and the studio I worked at had concrete floors. It definitely had a cool vibe and looked great but they were real uncomfortable to stand on, especially in the winter. As a guest, the concrete floors would be a turn-off for me. One because of all the kids running around, I’d want something more cushiony in case they fall. But also because of the grandparents. We all complained at the studio of back and feet pain and were only in our 20’s-30’s 😂 So I just wanted to offer some perspective from someone that loves the look of the concrete floors, but is not a fan of them practically!
I would maybe just change the handles in the kitchen and leave the plain doors unless they are bad. Pink or turquoise appliances were the new thing in upscale housing. A friend of mine did some sort of etching or something on her concrete floors. They look beautiful but said if they had it to do over, they would have had a pro do it. I would add a ramp at some entrance just in case someone uses a walker or wheel chair. Especially when it’s a family thing. It’s more common than you think. Showers were not all that common back then. I was born in early 40’s so remember the 50’s well.😊
OMG! How cool is this place! Congratulations! Please keep the piano. I see it painted with hippie flowers, Austin Power vibes! I live in Rockford, il if you need any help and I'm an artist. Love, love this house❤!

Thanks for the tour! It's going to be awesome! I think I would put some bunks in one of the small bedrooms and then in the larger bedroom do both bunks and a queen if you can fit them. I agree the bedroom layout is funky and it seems like kids would like having one of the smaller rooms??
@@JAMIEANDSARAH Thanks for the reply! Yes, you are right on the privacy part, so it's a toss up! Of course, you could always try it one way for 6 months and then the other way and see what feedback you get. Best of luck!!
On Muskegon Lake? Check out North Muskegon and go to beach out there, also Bear Lake Tavern. Graduated from NMHS in the late 80s. Would be very interested in renting when done. Love it there!!!
This house is absolutely unbelievable! Since you’re going for an Airbnb, you should definitely consider having two fridges and a larger stove since you’re talking about 12-16 people gathering in one space for meals. I’ve just come back from a vacation house with extended family and I think you should plan carefully how you execute that bunk room. Small children + 3 levels of bunks = dangerous. Maybe louver off areas with the bunks off to the sides?
Really cool house! What lake is that on? Sell the Piano. You will need that space for a work area for kids. Like art projects, desk space etc. For rainy day indoor activities
I use to have a player piano that came with the house we bought but it didnt work so we got rid of it. We kept all the scrolls though, I dont know why but we have about 50 of them.
This is an amazing house, don't sell the piano! Keep as is. Just leave as a piano & take the rolls of sheet music at your home safe. Just put it out under the lean to for when there outside is being used as fun area, you can make this so amazing you could make such a great income on it. mx
A cool place. I think the hot tub needs to be nearer to be house especially for winter use. While that is lovely, that is where I would consider adding another structure and keeping the playground. The playground will be a huge selling point for people traveling with young children. Also, I would sell the player piano. It’s really cool but I think people will destroy it especially if children are there. It would be a shame to destroy such a unique piece.
