I grew up in the Eichler development of Walnut Creek. My parents became original owners in 1955. Still my best memories.

I grew up a few blocks away from this house. I always loved Eichlers growing up and was so envious of my friends that lived in them.

I first saw the Eichler's 50 years ago in Palo Alto. This one seems to have retained most of the originial materials. It is truly beautiful.

Marty, Thanks for visiting! I recently toured an Eichler in Palo Alto (in the Greer Park area), and I'm afraid it was sad. Beautiful, but neglected.

Thanks for visiting! Did you see the other Eichlers on the playlist? (There is a real range, from lovely, period correct, to "wowsa" in need of love. )

Susan, Thank you for visiting and commenting! I would be so tempted to try to get that running again. I smile thinking of the hours a model railroader enjoyed setting that up!

the train tracks! would be an awesome home for a train enthusiast to bring it back to its' glory. We live in a Mackay, love MCMs, thank you for showcasing this home 😊

Right?! I found them completely charming. Even if you have zero interest in trains or model railroad, it is evidence of a passion fulfilled and many many happy hours in the yard. This is good for the soul, so, it has to be good for a house to. Plus, anyone who can build something like THAT must be clever and handy. So it leads me to believe they would not let a lot of maintenance go differed. (Of course, if you were buying this house, you would want that all confirmed with inspections.) Thanks for visiting!

It is a lovely house but will need a lot of work to bring it back. Does the original hydronic floor heating still work? A lot of cosmetic work will have to be redone along with the kitchen to bring it back to "1960" but with sympathetic modern upgrades. My fear, asbestos, failing heating pipes and galvanized plumbing especially if it is under the slab. Dealt with a lot of this with an Alexander in Palm Springs and it was a MAJOR do to undo decades of inappropriate updates. Basically a complete gut job start to finish. At the end, the home looked brand new and aesthetically brought back to the time that it was built.

    No air conditioning?

Hey Michael, Thanks for visiting. Eichlers were not built with central air. (In the 50's in the silicon valley most houses were not built with AC). Eichlers (famously) have in-floor slab heating.
I have featured a number of properties that have installed mini splits so if you are interested you can see how that looks. Hope that helps.

Marcus, Thanks for watching. It looks like the kitchen was redone in the 90's. (Maybe time for a new one.)

@@RAREFORMDESIGNS Euro cabinets were sold well into the 90’s, this realtor knows what she is talking about. The kitchen is easily restored if that’s what you want.

Counters are off but at least they kept slab faced style cabinets with no hardware which, amazingly, are often replaced with horrifically inappropriate paneled or recessed door faces in some remuddles.

It can be fixed. Bad remodel from 1981.
