Log Flume. Opened September 1967. Designed by Arrow Development of California, who invented this concept based on the way timber is transported down hillsides to the rivers of Oregon and British Columbia. This was the first log flume to be built in Europe (the eighth to be built in the world). It is stil the longest log flume in the world at 2,349 feet.
This takes me back a LONG time! Back to the 1st time I went on it. My older sister had just turned 18. I was 9 and me, my sister and our mum went on the log flume for the 1st time. That was on April 7, 1996. And we still have the photo of the 3 of us to this day. Lot of memories.
Wow that takes me back... I worked on the Logflume for the season in 1974,we all used to ride it(5 at a time) first thing every day to check it out....the 'logs' wouldn't get any closer than what you saw here(although a couple of times they did) the 'magic eye' at the bottom of the ramp would cut out the belts to avoid a collision) and they would all stop..... it was fun to go out and rescue those at the top of the ramp😂 thanks for the upload....
Fantastic the memories of me my mum and sisters riding it, if I could bring back any ride it’s definitely the log flume was very sad when it was dismantled....
I will never forget this ride! My farther use to be a ride operator back in the 80s on this ride. He always spoke about them day to me when I was a kid. Awesome POV !!
@@12barmac this is awesome! Such a great ride seems to be that all parks are slowly taking log flumes out. You must have some great stories from your years of operating the ride😊
They still have the flume drop hill but has now become part of the infusion ride i May never got my chance as I was to young and still in school the year it closed could never save up enough money to come then would had love to have seen it oh well.
What wonderful memories for your family. I remember first riding this in the late 70s as a youngster thinking it was the most hardcore ride ever. Blackpool was amazing then but I haven't been in years from what I've seen its changed a lot but that's natural I guess.
Thank you for your comment Gareth - if you have not already seen my other Pleasure Beach video with more memories of family visits, here is the link th-cam.com/video/ClZeR95JHFc/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for your comment Jonathan. If you're interested I video'd another trip down the log flume. It's the final sequence of th-cam.com/video/ClZeR95JHFc/w-d-xo.html - 'An afternoon at Blackpool Pleasure Beach'
Sadly some idiots who own the PB decided to remove it some years ago for ICON or Infusion to take it's place, could have removed the Grand Prix or Turnpike as it might have been sometimes known as and put Ikon/Infusion there instead......all unique rides are being removed for no good reason

Miss this ride soooo much was one of my favourites
Great. I vaguely remember this being built. Subsequently many great memories but was always wary at the deep parts incase the log went over the side.
Went on 1982 and 1983 amazing.
Should never have got rid ..lovely memories as a little girl

Awww. Takes me back. Great video!
Blackpool pleasure beach was an amazing park back in the day.
It still is a great park despite it's cons
I think its actually gotten better if intake my rose tinted specs off.
Especially if you're a roller-coaster enthusiast...
Still is a great day out. I'm going again Aug 23rd. Can't wait!!

Thankyou
Is the logflume still there?
no some rubbish there now . Infusion
why was it taken down?
To make way for Infusion
It was taken away because it was too expensive to repair. Got that information from a worker who worked there
Well that was really stupid to remove such a good Ride for a shitty Ride from somewhere else
This was filmed before the big one was reprofiled-how old is this?
Hi - I videoed this on 12th August 1996.
I honestly don't get the love behind this ride. There's nothing unique about it. Loggers Leap should be brought back not this
Big yawn
