Before Pendolino and Voyager domination of long distance passenger services, HST 125s, classes 47, 82, 86 and 87 handled trains on these routes. Watch them again as well as classes 31 and 37s on more local routes and a variety of freight passing through the station. Also some railtour departures.

Preston to Blackpool North: loco-hauled trains in the 1990s - Part 3
มุมมอง 4.4K6 ปีที่แล้ว
This sequence of railway videos I made in the 1990s were an attempt to record something of the final decade of locomotive-hauled rosters between Preston and Blackpool North Stations, mainly featuring classes 31 and 37. There are also a few DMUs of that time, a brief period of visits by HST125s and the last tanker train workings from ICI Thornton.

Fabulous memories of much missed wonderful family rides. The Log Flume was a classic ride and should never have been removed.

Hi Ashton this is great footage I was wondering if I could please ask to use a little for my documentary on the Fleetwood to Knott End Ferry? Video is on my channel about the project if you want to know more its called End to End. I've been working with the Fleetwood Museum and the current crew of the Ferry to make it. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Anton :)

Hi Anton - Thank you for your comment about my video. Sorry for the delay in replying but I've had trouble getting in to my account. You are welcome to use whatever scenes you want - can you take it direct from the TH-cam video or not? John Green (aka Mr Ashton Moss)

Loving these video's. Loco hauled trains are the best, not like modern ones which resemble trams with no character. Still got part 3 to watch.

Wow that takes me back... I worked on the Logflume for the season in 1974,we all used to ride it(5 at a time) first thing every day to check it out....the 'logs' wouldn't get any closer than what you saw here(although a couple of times they did) the 'magic eye' at the bottom of the ramp would cut out the belts to avoid a collision) and they would all stop..... it was fun to go out and rescue those at the top of the ramp😂 thanks for the upload....

I’m surprised how varied the traction is towards the early 2000s. I’m a bit gutted I wasn’t born a few years earlier so I could see all this instead of growing up with nothing but EMU and DMUs.

Sadly some idiots who own the PB decided to remove it some years ago for ICON or Infusion to take it's place, could have removed the Grand Prix or Turnpike as it might have been sometimes known as and put Ikon/Infusion there instead......all unique rides are being removed for no good reason

What wonderful memories for your family. I remember first riding this in the late 70s as a youngster thinking it was the most hardcore ride ever. Blackpool was amazing then but I haven't been in years from what I've seen its changed a lot but that's natural I guess.
