  • My switch controllers would randomly disconnect during handheld gameplay so I decided it was time to find out why.....
    Lets take it apart.
    check out tronicsfix, a great channel with amazing repair content. and as always ..... the perfect amount of thermal paste.

    Thanks both of my controllers would constantly disconnect I just used isopropyl alcohol and a q tip to clean the pins on both the console and the controllers without taking it apart and it definitely fixed the issue as well as seem to have helped with some input lag

    You don't have to replace the entire rail for the joycons to stop coming out! :)
    You can replace just the locking part, either with a donor one, or you can buy metal or plastic copies online. I always have metal locks on hand for my customers and all my joycons are upgraded with metal locks.

    Great video, it will come in handy! But if i may, you used a wrong type of paste on top of the heatpipe. You see, that's right there is a "viscous" thermal paste, like the K5 PRO. It helps because it stays in place and won't drop on the MOBO. I also did the same mistake at first when my console started to overheat and the results was that the moment i opened the metal lid again, it dripped on the MOBO and was boring to clean it out (no problems since the paste i used is not conductive, at least).
    The regular thermal paste is actually applied in 2 places: right under the pipe on the heat shield and under the heat shield itself that is made on the inside to contain the paste on the processor.

    • @UkdangermanRepairs
      @UkdangermanRepairs  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, however I have been using it since this video and it has remained perfectly functional so I would say it's fine.
      I would have preferred to use the official paste but I had to use what I had. 👍 Thanks for the comment. 😊

    So I bought a switch OLED again off someone 300 sold my other joycons didn't realize it was an issue but both my joycons sometimes would just slide off.....fixed the left one and now when I press harder it stays....the right one I can press slightly it still connects....but can slide off if pushed a bit more my suggestion!!!!.....play tabletop mode and or get new joycons but if it dkesnt slide off easily while touching slightly and you can push a bit and it still stays....your good to go these can easily be fixed thank goodness it's not the systems controllers can always have issues.....they're always replaceable 😁

  • @ItalianRetroGuy
    @ItalianRetroGuy 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The Red thermal compound on the outer part of the heatsink is always like that. I've never seen it being actually a paste, and I think it's actually manufacturered that way because otherwise it starts going everywhere.
    I do still reapply it but I just apply a small little dot.

    • @UkdangermanRepairs
      @UkdangermanRepairs  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@UkdangermanRepairs well a lot of devices come to me after a store already touched them. That means oftentimes it's a no fix. I'd prefer they were at least repairable most of the time, but the good news is that I get left tons of donor boards xD

    My left joycon randomly disconnects in handheld as if I took it off yet I didnt, I usually never take them off and mostly play in handheld anyways so it's really annoying in rocket league and fortnite

    I'm having the same issue with a new switch oled (purchased 4 months ago). The right joy-con disconnects randomly during play. The right joy-con feels a little more wobbly than the left. Not sure what to do at this point 😕

      I thought i was the only one, i have this issue too, i have a temporary fix for this, i clean the conectors with isoprophyl alcohol, the one in the joycon and the one in the console, it works for a while then the issue comes back
      Edit: i have an oled switch too with the white joycons

      Just bought my OLED switch yesterday. It will happen where the right stick will randomly disconnect while playing. It feels a little looser than the left but after resetting the cons it’ll be fine for another 30 minutes or so and then will disconnect again.

    • @felipeandressandovalcabrer50
      @felipeandressandovalcabrer50 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@rickman1945 i have the same issue the cause sometimes is just dirt in the contacts or sometimes is cause of the joycon wobble, when it is too much. I recommend to clean the contacts with some isoprophyl alcohol or contact cleaner and stick a piece of electrical tape in the lower part of the joycon (there are some videos that use that method), with that the issue should disappear but if it doesn't and you dont want to send you switch to Nintendo i suggest 2 options
      1. Buy another pair of joycons if you can
      2. Get a replacement for the locking piece of the joycon (the one that release the joycon when you press the button on the back), disassemble the joycon and do the replacement yourself, there are some tutorials that explains how to do it and there also are some of this pieces made of metal that lock much better than the plastic ones
      I hope this help, the issue is very annoying, let me know how it went

    • @MacGyver_Lamb
      @MacGyver_Lamb ปีที่แล้ว

      So far my best fix is to make sure to stay seated so the switch is basically laying flat while I play it (putting less pressure on the joy con). Seems like this would mostly happen when I would play while laying down and holding the switch up. I'll try some of the recommendations here. Thanks!
