Another piece of advice... If you're not using your joy-cons then store them someplace safe. That includes the Switch. I know it's easy to just leave it in the dock, but dust, dead skin, and debris does build up. Regularly clean it and store it away when not in use. The dock can be left out and dusted at least once a week.
I have been watching videos for over an hour on trying to get the right joy con to charge. Your video was the only one I have seen that showed down inside the gold connectors and to clean in there. I only had a toothpick and got a lot of cookie crumble out of there! These joycons are only 2 weeks old and NOW it is charging. Thank you!!

Thanks for the video. I am currently dabbling in a little switch repair myself and did something that was a no-brainer to me. Whenever I took apart something and didn't have the proper replacement part available I would take a post it note, label it, fold it in a way so you have 3 parts along the sticky end of it but also utilizing the sticky side as adhesive to keep it together, Press it flat, fold one end up twice and fill in your screws and small parts so you don't loose them. Do the same with the top and you are good to go for storing it somewhere.
@@novanova4197 He has one for him, and another for his kids, I think. And, I don't think he's really 'hitting' it, he's lightly tapping it VERY close to his mic.

I can’t thank you enough I had to scrub the switch port for about 30 min but it finally connected for the first time in 6 months your a life saver no one could figure out what was wrong with it and Nintendo wanted to replace it I did not want my data list so thanks again
It's really easy to replace just make sure you don't lose the spring. Also I'd suggest getting a separate screwdriver to open the joycon, as the one that came with my set was useless
Personally the only problems ive had with the stand are it being too hard to take out or it not balancing on anything other than a perfectly flat surface

X-perto I can’t agree he’s blaming the console for his mistakes like I’ve had the switch from the beginning and I’ve been playing quite often and I haven’t had any of these problems
A Channel lol it’s been a year and the joycons are still a problem. The plastic bit on the back still wears down. Nintendo has yet to fix the problem. Luckily there’s replacement ones that are metal. I’ve bought 4 switches now for myself and my sons and my wife. Only one of them had the joycon problem.
@@RealLauraDuke Ever had a ds or 3ds? Stylus gone, L/R problems, screen broken, touchscreen not working properly, eventually everything wears down. They arent made to last forever. Though nintendo stuff does have lower durability than playstation stuff tbh. My xbox controller also broke 😂 one day after years. Playstation controllers. No issues.
I was looking for this comment. What would you call the opposite of a ASMR video? The noises of him docking, tapping, punching or anything to the switch make me cringe. Lol i would be worried to do that to my switch.
this is so nostalgic, i watched this once while waiting to a get switch and off some reason i remember this video more than any of the other ones i watched and i still use these fixes to this day lol
arjoze _ just look up nintendo switch metal joycon latch and the product itself will usually be titled “metal lock buckles” or “replacement latches” or something similar. Warning, it requires the disassembly of your joycons to replace the latches (feel like that was kinda obvious but gotta make sure) and although some of the latches do come with a triwing screwdriver that you can use, I’ve heard they aren’t exactly the greatest so take that as you will. Also maybe look up a joycon disassembly video in case you’ve never done it, and doing the replacement may or may not void any possible warranty on your switch (I’m not up to date with current warranty regulations, look it up if you want)
Aren't the plastic stoppers a planned fault? Meaning if you drop your switch and the joycon hits the ground first it gets disconnected and doesn't do damage to the console itself.
@@ApeBlin nope. Physics would say that if it snaps off it is even worse. If it falls on the joycon rounded corner the shock is carried to the switch, and as it disconnects, the switch tablet's corner will also hit the ground, causing a second shock and it makes it twice as likely to break the screen. Shock from the joycon does depend on the angle of the fall however.
I'm gonna buy a switch and i am very happy that i watched this video... because, if one of those thinks happen, ill be able to fix it... or maybe it wont even get that far like the problem with the joy cons... thank you
DuckGamez What? XD It was in the trailer and it can be seen in pic's... Its the biggest part of the switch... thats why there is the mode "tabletop mode", where you have the switch on your table and you play with the joy cons
Sadly you cannot do much to that issue with joycons it is more about luck how tough plastic parts you get. My left joycon lock has chipped almost half way while right side is in pristine condition. I have used those only myself and i know that i have not abused them anyway different, the left joycon lock just has inferior plastic. I am considering to buy metal locks from ebay and also replacement screws for joycons because i've heard once you open those screws it will be almost impossible to get them all back. This is a safety measure created by nintendo so they see if people have tampered with their joycons.
for the bending the kickstand i would recomend hitting it with a hair dryer for a couple seconds on high heat to soften the plastic so that it bends faster and doesnt stress the plastic which could eventually lead to it snapping or breaking
Best bit of advice right here! I've never even held a Switch so I can't comment specifically on the quality of the plastic used on the stand but cheap plastic has a tendency of being brittle so bending it like in the video will lead to it snapping. Always heat plastic just enough to make it more malleable before attempting to bend it then give it a few minutes to let it cool afterwards. Only takes a few more minutes to do and will save a lot of people from breaking their stands
This video is very educational and its even more convenient for us to actually SEE how to not do these things to the switch and such unlike others who just say it. Great vid!
Not sure if you still check this thread but I have a question that’s about to make me go insane with my switch. My right one does not click in and make the clicking sound and I’ve tried and clean it so I think the sensor might be messed up question however. If I play a game, it does not detect both of them being attached until I restart the switch three times in a row without touching the controllers then it detects them. Can you please answer this it has to be software related, correct?
I'm British and I find the British accent really annoying it's sound so posh makes them sound like they think they're All high and mighty even though I'm sure he's a lovely guy
I'm glad I watched this. I got a switch last year for my bday and randomly stumbled upon this video and found it more helpful then I thought. Very useful, I will remember this
Diego Quichiz But still, if you had to demonstrate points that made your own problems worse you’d basically just be getting nowhere yourself and making things a little harder to solve.
Jamie 〜 emm nope, because all that he do its pre thought. I mean, he knows that he have a problem there, but if he demostrate the point the way he do its because he knows its not gonna cause worst consecuences. Also, this shows up better in the next videos where he tries some solutions, and finally solve the problem - demostrating the differences between a video that is focused on solve the problem and other that just want to show it, like this one-. And, obviously, he's using it to explanate the video, so its false that he is "gettin nowhere". He's making the video more comprehensive.
Thanks very much for this!! I was having issues with my kickstand being very loose, and the method you showed worked! I didn’t think you could take the kickstand off and put it back on. I thought it breaks off or something.
No it doesn't have to take that sort of abuse. It's not Nintendo's fault that some people are too stupid to use their things carefully. This isn't fucking lego, it's an expensive electronic device.
Hi, thanks for the comment, I didn't realise it was so widespread. I reckon I could fix it by melting the plastic catch with a soldering iron or jam a hot needle into it to widen it out a bit but I will see if there is an easier fix. I will have a think. Hopefully someone reading this might have already found a solution :-)
I will say that others have got this repaired for free by Nintendo so before attempting to fix it yourself.... if you can live without the Joy Con for a week it might be worth contacting Nintendo to see if they will do it under warranty.
Nicxbox64 the same problem happened to me, but there was a joycon color that I liked more than the ones that have the problem, so I just had to buy a new pair, and I'm being way more careful this time.
My joycon also easily comes of and because of the way I play the joycon slips off when press hard. this has only happened to the right joycon(for now), but if it does happen to the left then my switch might fall to its doom.
Guys to fix the right joycon or left joycon drift get a straw and lift the plastic thing under the stick the put one end of the straw in there and blow the dust away from every way
Pulse or you could just not throw your switch about like a caveman. This guy obviously isn’t very careful with his switch (you can even see him being wreckless with it in this video).
I have 3d printer. If a plastic part breaks, I'll just make a replacement using carbon fiber filament. As small as that part is it should print rather quickly.

I just got my Switch 2 weeks ago, I never put the straps on wrong, and my left Joycon is super loose. Sadness fills my soul.
Lennon Wagner I guarantee you may have done something wrong, either holding it kinda of bad or putting too much pressure on the joycon without realizing it :/
Kakakarot Cake i actually doubt it. Most left joycons are loose out of the box, i have 4 sets and they're all looser on the left side
Lennon Wagner same
Same with me
same. just left side.
I like your energy, and as a durability freak I do really enjoy these tips ^_^
That could very well be. Though I don't understand what this has to do with anything since I never claimed we were alike? :/
haha, they do look alike a bit. But this is Gilgamesh from the Fate/Stay series ^_^
The 2nd one actually happened to me and my switch couldn't even tell that the remote was connected to it, but thanks to you it is now fixed!!! You deserve More credit and views dude, thanks so much!!!
The kickstand is a huge problem not because it sticks out, but because then your SD-card isn't safe anymore
peepee poopoo who cares about that
Could you elaborate more on this?
Syed Musa Raza when the kick stand is out, it exposes the SD card
Random User People with a lot of digital games, then the microSD card is very precious
Random User what do you mean if the card breaks your games on the memory card are gone
Ok, so I had done a mod on my joycons to make them atomic purple clear, and when I tried to connect them, they would disconnect sometimes, I thought I screwed them up, I tried everything to fix them, and I saw this video and just blew into the connectors (using compressed air) and it completely resolves the problem, so using compressed air to clean the connector pins works as well. (Thanks for the video btw! Thumbs up from me!)
- ChrisCube - that why you don't mod game consoles unless you're just modding a video game itself to get items in the game
thats not how that works at all. This is why you can - because it was a very easy fix.
"Don't mod your game consoles reEEEEEE" - people who can't follow directions properly and probably broke a console by modding in the past
Just like a Gameboy cartridge
I watched this video EVEN THOUGH I DONT HAVE A SWITCH and its seems nice to know theres someone whos helping!

I can’t thank you enough I had to scrub the switch port for about 30 min but it finally connected for the first time in 6 months your a life saver no one could figure out what was wrong with it and Nintendo wanted to replace it I did not want my data list so thanks again
You can buy a replacement peice for that plastic part that is wearing, they are metal too.just have to install it yourself
Sirmellowman Really? Where?
sickkk I might buy one but im guessing its gonna be hard to put in
DeathNote I'll save it. Thank you.
It's really easy to replace just make sure you don't lose the spring. Also I'd suggest getting a separate screwdriver to open the joycon, as the one that came with my set was useless
THANK YOUUUU
Personally the only problems ive had with the stand are it being too hard to take out or it not balancing on anything other than a perfectly flat surface

But he was aggressive at the joy con
X-perto I can’t agree he’s blaming the console for his mistakes like I’ve had the switch from the beginning and I’ve been playing quite often and I haven’t had any of these problems
This is why you wait after a year then get it
A Channel lol it’s been a year and the joycons are still a problem. The plastic bit on the back still wears down. Nintendo has yet to fix the problem. Luckily there’s replacement ones that are metal. I’ve bought 4 switches now for myself and my sons and my wife. Only one of them had the joycon problem.
Thx for telling me this. Nintendo is really having some trouble
No issues.
Exactly
A Channel Facts. Just got one.
What would you recommend if the brushing doesn’t work for the second issue?
this is actually such a good ASMR

I was looking for this comment. What would you call the opposite of a ASMR video? The noises of him docking, tapping, punching or anything to the switch make me cringe. Lol i would be worried to do that to my switch.

You can find metal replacements for those plastic stoppers for the joy con on Amazon.
Where? I dont find them
where?
arjoze _ just look up nintendo switch metal joycon latch and the product itself will usually be titled “metal lock buckles” or “replacement latches” or something similar.
I'm gonna buy a switch and i am very happy that i watched this video... because, if one of those thinks happen, ill be able to fix it... or maybe it wont even get that far like the problem with the joy cons... thank you
DuckGamez
What? XD
It was in the trailer and it can be seen in pic's... Its the biggest part of the switch... thats why there is the mode "tabletop mode", where you have the switch on your table and you play with the joy cons
Der Gamer I'd say save up a little more money so you have a game to play
Der Gamer the problem with the joycon isn't "that far" it's probably the most common fault
1:44 why did he cut the camera when he picked up the switch to put the kickstand back?
Ik suspicious
"You can see it's making the sound again"
Great video!
It's easy just use FLEX TAPE.
I sawed this switch in half
Flex seal
And repaired it with only flex tape

This video is very educational and its even more convenient for us to actually SEE how to not do these things to the switch and such unlike others who just say it. Great vid!
Not sure if you still check this thread but I have a question that’s about to make me go insane with my switch. My right one does not click in and make the clicking sound and I’ve tried and clean it so I think the sensor might be messed up question however. If I play a game, it does not detect both of them being attached until I restart the switch three times in a row without touching the controllers then it detects them. Can you please answer this it has to be software related, correct?
Those air bubbles under your screen protector would drive me insane.

Thank you I watched like five videos and I couldn't fix it until you explain about cleaning it. Thank you.
I'm glad I watched this. I got a switch last year for my bday and randomly stumbled upon this video and found it more helpful then I thought. Very useful, I will remember this
This video is so helpful! But I will say that the way you treat them is kinda scary and funny at the same time! Great vid Vince.
You know punching the joycons off the switch probably isn't helping
I was thinking the same thing.
it's a demonstration
he´s not looking for help, he is demostrating the point to us
Diego Quichiz
But still, if you had to demonstrate points that made your own problems worse you’d basically just be getting nowhere yourself and making things a little harder to solve.
I thought it breaks off or something.
the 3rd one is bassically "how to damge your switch controllers even more" with how much he hitting them
The way he mishandled his Switch made me cringe terribly.
In a way, yes... but a Nintendo console, especially one designed to be portable, has to be able to take that sort of abuse.
No it doesn't have to take that sort of abuse. It's not Nintendo's fault that some people are too stupid to use their things carefully. This isn't fucking lego, it's an expensive electronic device.
Golden Gaming I felt the same way
Lillyz dude chill out
fartsnstuf it's not Duracell's fault if you suck batteries, why should it be Nintendo's fault if you're rough with your toys?
Oh my joycons do the thing in 3 and I really needed a fix and if you find a way to fix it can you post it thanks
My Mate VINCE Your the best man keep up the good content
Thx so much my switch senior was messy and your a life saver you made my day I'm crying
its always the right joycon...
