  • In the unforgiving world of Red Dead Redemption 2, where moral ambiguity reigns supreme, the concept of heroism becomes elusive. Join us as we explore whether any characters in this expansive narrative can truly be considered heroes. From Arthur Morgan's tragic quest for redemption to Dutch van der Linde's manipulative ambitions, we dissect the complexities and flaws of these figures against the backdrop of a crumbling society.
We'll analyze the profound themes of survival, guilt, and the relentless pursuit of redemption that permeate the game. Are Arthur and John Marston simply flawed men seeking atonement, or are they mere reflections of a world where true heroism cannot exist? Discover the nuanced character dynamics that challenge the traditional hero's journey and delve into the tragic realities of a land where survival often requires moral compromise.

I never doubted Arthur. Ive always seen him as “good” because I cant stand to think of him any other way. I love him too much. Im wearing rose colored glasses and am not planning on taking them off any time soon.
I realize that he’s not actually a great man, he’s still a murderer. He does try to do better at the end of his life to make himself better, but he cant just erase everything he’s done up to that point.
I know all this and still, I cant think of him any other way than how I do now. It would hurt me too bad.

Nah, he was clearly doing what he did for sadistic enjoyment, like when he was gloating about Arthur's sickness when about to kill Arthur

But In the end if you do high honor you can't judge him based off his past as that is something you cant change and control anymore, so you cant say his past weigh him down as what matters is who he chooses to be and what he does now. and if you look at what a hero is then he is a hero but that all depends on what you call a hero

I agree. The past shaped Arthur's future, and he chose redemption rather than doubling down on evil like Micah. That makes Arthur a hero, if even a reluctant one at times.
