in a way, karen and molly are foils of each other. karen is “low class” but seems to not care and is able to be herself, while molly considers herself high class and is constantly struggling with her identity in the gang and the world at large. the one realm in which molly seems to be able to be honest with herself is in regards to her feelings for dutch; meanwhile, it’s obvious that karen loved sean (from their sweet camp scenes + it’s after his death that we see her drinking really increase), but she’s unable to be honest with him in the way that molly is able to with dutch. you could even say that when karen screams, “she was in love!” she’s talking about herself, too: not only is she yelling at grimshaw, she’s yelling at the whole way of life, and mourning her own loss.
what a game. truly unmatched storytelling.

molly was supposed to be in the gilded cage mission. there is cut dialogue from her. and she was supposed to wear a fancy dress. so she originally had more screentime but it was cut. it's a shame too because molly is an underused character. so her appearance in this mission would have added more to her story.

It's also important to pay attention at the simbolism on how each character dies. She died to a shot in the gut. Not a headshot, not stabbed, not decapitaded. A gut shot. A wound that would directly hit a prossible baby. One that may or may not still be in her womb

While it's possible she was pregnant I don't think that was a major factor. This is more a story about the slow decline of Dutch's judgment and mental state. It was easy to show Molly attention and love when things were going smooth before blackwater. Or at least relatively smooth but when things go wrong is when true colors come out. Dutch reminds me of many leaders in history who make sound choices and are charismatic when things are going to plan. Hitler, Mussolini, Saddam, all started out trusting and competent ( while certainly evil) became paranoid and impulsive as things started going wrong. Same with dutch.
Molly went from trusted confident to ignored and alone. The harder she tried to fix things the worse it got.

She could also be erratic from postpartum depression... if she had a child in secret and gave them away to someone she still got the hormonal chaos of having had a child so even if the child lived.... her behavior could coincide with all that

There were a lot of people she could have confided in that you haven’t considered. There is a scene at Shady Belle where Molly can be seen confiding in Abigail who basically informs her that Dutch’s relationship with her isn’t what Molly thinks it is. Molly angrily tells her that she doesn’t know anything about it to which Abigail replies ‘unfortunately, I do’. Abigail is a cold woman who will tell you the honest truth, even if it hurts. We see that with her attempts to comfort Sadie in chapter 2. Molly would have trusted to confide in Abigail who already had experience with pregnancy and with a father who was less than ideal and in difficult conditions. Abigail may not have had much respect for Molly, but she would have had enough foresight of the situation to know Molly was in a very bad predicament and wasn’t about to sugar coat it and give Molly a false sense of security. She could have told Swanson. We know Reverend Swanson sobered up after the events of the bank heist gone wrong, at the same time Karen went full into the bottle. I don’t think it’s just a coincidence. Being a preacher, Swanson would have been someone Molly could confide in and trust that he would keep her secret. Despite being a drunk and drug addict, he still valued the word of God. And if Molly had suffered a miscarriage that Swanson and Karen were both privy too, that could have been the catalyst for Swanson sobering up and for Karen falling fully into the bottle, more so than Hosea dying. It’s just a shame she never told Susan, who she could have confided in.

I mean tbf, it's how theories work, theories are not 100% fact, as much as "these facts line up with idea, and could explain certain things". Pregnancy didn't cross my mind when I saw Molly story, because being neglected by the person you love while he's getting more aggressive and distant, flirting with younger girls, all while having no friends... It's enough to break her.
But I still a pregnancy theory can work pretty and adds more to the story. It does contextualize things slightly different.

I think Molly might be a factor in why Dutch doesn't trust Arthur or at least starts turning against him more in Chapter 6. If someone he was involved with romantically could turn on him, then who else?
I think chopping up Dutch's want for loyalty up to ego is too much of a simplification. He is, falsely, shown that someone close to him could betray him. But he makes the wrong call on who that is by the end of Chapter 6.

Molly was drunk and during the interrogation Milton told her things that Micah has said to cause her believe that she talked even she did not. This might cause doubts of Micah being traitor to be dropped for a while.

I mean they had methods, albeit archaic, of birth control- herbs, more primitive protection made from animal skin, and other stuff that you can research if you really want to- but I doubt Dutch would want to have a child during the events that were happening. It’s kinda clear that Jack was an accident, I doubt they ever intended to bring children into that environment.

If Molly had actually been the snitch instead of Micah, I would have liked to see Arthur tell Dutch to use a blade to kill her since bullets cost money and can only be used once, but a blade can be washed off and reused multiple times. Possibly even offer Dutch his own blade to kill her.
I fully agree with their rule that treason is and should be punished by death.
