- How is the new 2024 Mazda CX-90 compares to the old CX-9? With its new underpinnings and engines, the new Mazda CX-90 three-row SUV is far more than a CX-9 with some fender appliques.
The 2024 Mazda CX-90 differs greatly from the Mazda CX-9 before you've even walked from the bumper to the A-pillars. The 2024 Mazda CX-90's chassis features a longitudinal engine layout, a 90-degree shift from the CX-9's transverse setup.

2024 Mazda CX-90 versus the OLD CX-9. This is a great comparison to see what the exact difference are.
❤
Bought CX9 because cup holders are in right place. CX90 cup holders location is awkward. Reaching over controls and shift knob while driving is something I just did not want to have to think about every time I reached for a cup of coffee or a sip of iced tea in my Stanley. LOVE the zoom gal performance.
Nice. So the cup holders were your make it or break it pretty much?
Yes at 76, I have had a lot of car choices. Driving 10 to 12 hrs in Texas to see my family, creature comforts are key. Two vehicles I miss: 1979 Jeep PU Truck with standard transmission and my 2002 Honda CRV with standard transmission.@@VagabondBuilds
Ha! Just commented about this. Agreed!
@@trudieasbury6172 I cannot say much about 1979 Jeep PU Truck, but I can definitely agree about the 2002 Honda CRV.
CX-9/90 🖤
You buying one ?
Although the Tukami pack for the CX-90 is beautiful, I far prefer the older CX-9 centre console arrangement. The cup placement for the new CX-90 is just strange, the console is just too big with a lot of wasted space.
I think newer is better
This isn't the latest release of the CX9. Notice old style infotainment screen. Reviewer very bias to the CX90. The CX9 IMHO is the better handling car, not everyone needs "Honda Pilot" space in a midsize car.
Nope, not biased, just typically like what is new. Sorry for that.
Cx9 is known to be reliable... Cx90 if reliable is great replacement, but once the warranty is up, repairs will be very expensive. The timing chain is in back of engine and to replace or repair it, you'll have to lift engine out. Other repairs may require engine lifting as well. It's going to be some very expensive future repairs. Hopefully it's reliable and doesn't require this much.
Wow. Hopefully they will be very reliable and not need to do that maintenance
That huge differential tunnel on the second row of the cx90 is a huge let down. I wonder if it is due to the new transmission being too long with so many gears
Interesting. Never thought of it honestly…
My CX9 has usb ports in the 3rd row... it's a proven driver while the cx90 straight 6 has no history. The cx90 I drove didn't add up to a sale - not to mention the 4" would exclude it from the garage pretty much
Ok 👍🏼
I prefer the back of the cx-9. The Cx90 looks too bulbous with a hint of BMW
The cx90 looks like the GLS Mercedes
Well Mazda is working their way up to become a luxury like BMW which it’s why they designed similar to a BMW
@@Voluwest That is a good thing imo. What do you think?
@@VagabondBuilds I think it is incredible that Mazda is stepping up onto a luxury level. I didn’t think Mazda was going to do that, but they can because they’re a smaller brand. So, it wouldn’t make no sense for them to launch a luxury division like Hyundai did with Genesis and how Toyota did with Lexus because Hyundai and Toyota had much money. Mazda tried to launch a luxury division 30 years ago which it didn’t happen due to they didn’t have a lot of money to do that. So, it would make sense for Mazda to move upscale by itself instead of them launching a luxury division which it seems to be working for them because they found a middle ground as far as Mazda became a premium brand today than 30 years ago.
@@VagabondBuilds The rear of the CX-90 looks like a mini van. No thanks.
I know that Mazda dealership in Roseville, I used to work there as a lot Porter. They didn’t have the CX 90 at the time when I was working there.
Nice! Very cool crew of people that work there!
The cx9 have 250 horsepower with premium fuel
Alright cool. Appreciate it!
TLDR: Newer is better ;)
Agreed!
An overconfident hungover salesman review talking only about the cosmetics of a complex modern suv. Smh
Hahahahah sorry but I don’t drink 😅
But my word the comments sometimes are hilarious.
I think you're a bit rude mate. Really takes a lot of effort to make these videos.
@@VagabondBuilds comments pretty rude, glad you took it in your stride.
@@petersuvara Thank you. It really takes time to make these videos and we don't have approval just yet to drive them so we can offer other points of view.
Our channel includes 24+ Makes and I don't believe we qualify under salesman.
Watch the car care nut review of the Cx-9 and Cx-90. One is a serviceability nightmare the other is not
Interesting. The more info the better. Honestly thanks for the heads up
@@VagabondBuilds I watched the CX-60 and CX-90 closely as I really was interested in the CX-70 coming to the U.S. next year. But after what I learned, I just bought a 2023 CX-5. The front shoulder and hip room is the same as the CX-90 and I only need two rows and everything in the engine bay is easily accessible.
@@clarkkent9080 yeah, if you only need 2 rows , there is no point to buy a bigger car.
@@VagabondBuilds I was interested in a little more upscale vehicle and was willing to pay for that. The CX-70 was supposed to be simular to the CX-60 being an upscale 2 row SUV.
@@VagabondBuilds what info? 🙄
Go ath other technical and logical reviews.
This dude just counted how many holes, buttons and seats between the to models. Lol
