Cool video. I had a 2009 CX-9 for 10 years, drove it nearly 200K miles…but now I’m a proud owner of a 2021 CX-9 Carbon Edition. I’m sure some of these same cool features are in my new car. Thanks for the great video!
I tried so hard to find an affordable Carbon Edition but couldn’t find one. I ended up buying a 2020 CX9 2020 GT. I have had this car for 24hrs and what a dream. This is the only SUV I could see myself drive.
My 2016 CX-9 Signature is one of the best vehicles I ever owned after five and a half years of ownership. I have an Auburn red interior with a center bench. I noticed they took that away not long ago. Thanks for the video.
That was a great video thank you for pointing out everything. I had no idea it could do so much. I will get the manual out for sure and try and program some of them. I bought a 2019: 2 weeks ago, used with only 23,000 klm, still has the new smell. Loving it.❤
Really awesome. Thank you for doing that. The turning headlights I think work only when you’re moving. Some cars also have a auto hold button right next to the park. That’s so the car doesn’t roll away when you get off the break and drive or park. Pretty cool stuff.
Great video, very informative! Also another good tip when you have the apple CarPlay on your screen another way to get back to the Mazda Home Screen is to push the Mazda app on the CarPlay and it will take you back to it.
I’ll soon be trading in a 2010 Volvo XC60 for a 2019 CX-9 (specifically that year for the same reasons you went with it - the color of the leather in the signature trim and the Apple CarPlay) and am so stoked to hear that the headlights turn with the car! My Volvo does that and I love the feature. Thanks for the video!!
Thanks for this video! I didn’t know about linking seating preferences to the key, nor did I know about the kick down buttton. You did get an unbelievable deal on that thing! Even for 2019! $9k off? Wow! Thankfully I got my 2019 POC Signature with slightly less than 8k in July 2021, before the craziness we’re witnessing now. Great vehicle!
Thanks for your video. I love the fiesta st how you just leave you key fob in your pocket and press the tailgate button and it opens even though the rest of the car is still locked, so many more expensive cars just don't have that simple feature. And also being able to put your door windows up or down with just the key fob.
The throttle kick down switch is a switch that tells your vehicle that you need more acceleration and it then downshifts the transmission to get into the power and of higher rpms. You definitely do not want to delete that. It is especially handy if you are driving up a hill or towing something.
Hold the mode button on the steering wheel to switch between adaptive and normal cruise control. When the key battery is weak, you get an alert on the dashboard to replace it.
*** Also, if you’re outside of the car, and want to put all the windows down, simultaneously then: - Press the UNLOCK button on the (KeyFob), 4 times, and HOLD the unlock button on the FOURTH press, and ALL the windows will come down (all the way down, or until you let go of the unlock button !) *** ALSO, (ONLY IF YOU HAVE PUSH BUTTON START/STOP IGNITION) if you park the vehicle but/ and want the auxiliary power to remain on for 15 mins, instead of turning the car off and then having to press the ignition button again once or twice( to run, or to continue to run the infotainment system still ), then : -after putting the car into park, but before letting go of the Gear Shift Release Button on the Gear Shift Selector, AND before pushing the STOP button to turn the car off, then A) Keep Continuing To Squeeze and hold the gear shift button on the gear shift selector stick while in Park, B) Continue To Hold your foot on the brake C) Depress the START / STOP ignition button to shut the engine off, but keep the auxiliary power on for 15/20 mins ! …Hope this helps. Great video about the Mazda CX-( , I went through the manual, unlees you use this features on daily bases,it almost impossible to remember all of them, thank you
It is but it’s very inconsistent and primitive. This is the one thing about this car I don’t like and I think I mentioned it in my follow up video a year or two later after this one. The tech interface is pretty awful.

A few comments: -Hill start assist on this car is among the worst I’ve had on any vehicle. After a quick stop (say an incline with a stop sign on top, it will roll. Any other car I’ve owned has had instantaneous HSA. -Holding the dial gauge for a few seconds will switch the “distance to empty” and “instant mpg” digital gauges to numeric on either side of the speedometer. -I had no idea about the additional pedal click. Guess I’ve really slowed down my driving from my younger years. -The car (at least the models with the newer fob style) can be set to auto lock when walking away from the vehicle
@@gray25xt Makes sense. I just sold my 2016 Fiesta ST and low and behold stumble on to another great video from you on my new CX-9. Your FiST videos were quite impressive and informative. Thanks again.
Thanks. Did a K&N air filter but aside from that there isn't much available. There are a few intakes available but they add intake/turbo/blow off noise which is not what I want, this is a luxury quiet car. There's also a catback available but too loud for the same reason above. I would like their axelback which adds a nice rumble without being too loud but at the price point ($600) I'm not ready to spend my money on that. I wish there was tuning for this platform, I'd be all over that.
The interior is nice! the 2021 models don't look like that. It's like you have a special edition. I'm debating between the 2021 Carbon edition and a Grand Touring 2021. Thanks for sharing!
I specifically chose a 2019 rather than a 2020 because of the auburn interior...it's really beautiful and 2019 was the last year they offered it. Thanks for the compliment, we've had the car nearly 2 years now and zero issues and great mpgs too.
Really great video. I have the 2020 signature, and they just did my oil change and now my cluster looks different on the area that displays the current gas mileage left reading, and the fuel economy reading to the right. It used to be a lever of sorts like in the video, but now it’s just a read out. How do I reset that?
I apologize I'm not sure. After the video I haven't driven the car enough to know that sort of thing, it's mostly used by my wife. Likely the dealer will know and/or it's in the manual.
You might try holding down the dashboard illumination knob (I call it a peg) it is the same "peg" that adjusts your gauge cluster brightness. If you hold it down, it should toggle between no display, analog, and digital readouts for gauge side bars.
Thank you both. Merry Christmas to all. It was a software upgrade/ update from Mazda. I still can’t figure out how to have my seating position work with my remote fob, lol.

Great. Went from 4 kids in a van to 2 in the CX-9 (2 are grown/gone). We keep the back 3rd row down 95% of the time and it has more than enough cargo room. How do you program the seat memory to the key can you please advise.
It's been several years, you'll have to read your instruction manual, I'm sure you can find it in the index easily.
Anyone knows if this car starts with the bottoms control?
You can program the car to lock the doors automatically after exceeding about 30 km/h
