It's not ugly. Don't call a legendary vehicle "ugly" its part of a legendary and succesfull racing history. It's quite impressive and the boxy flares and the big wing in an SUV is an eccentric look on an SUV. Given the 4 independent suspension and the 3.5 liter V6.
Funny you should said say the I own a 96 discovery and 96 pajero both around 300,000 km. The Discovery is falling apart, interior and exterior. My Pajero on the other hand, drivers seat wear and that's about it lol. Built to last!
These are absolutely epic cars, stand out way more than the newer suv's. We have a review coming up on our channel soon, can't wait to drive it😁 Great video apart from the ugly part lol
Mitsubishi built this Pajero Evo for special but the actually rally Pajero is built on tube Chassis so its completely different and the only thing that is interchangeable between the road Evo and Rally car is the tail lights. The rally car is not based on this car.
There's always additional mods on a production based race car, but a tube chassis version would be a differnt higher class vehicle/prototype that looked similar. All actual Dakar raced ones we're LHD too, where the production version only RHD.
You're wrong. The car that competed between 1998 and 2001 was actually based on this version. It just had a tube reinforcement. The versions post-2001 were all tube chassis just like the pre-1998.
Didn't know that Mitsubishi was that much artful, well after that they didn't show up, toyota became the next king of Japan, still now. And i do have a Mitsubishi diesel car. thats a nice one
chilli pom pom They don't actually, production ended a couple of months ago, the Pajero Sport which is based on the L200 is now the largest 4WD Mitsubishi makes.
@@eaylhtwls68 At the moment there's nothing confirmed, but I'm sure we'll see in the next few years some platform sharing going on. The thing is the Nissan Patrol is a bit more hardcore than the Pajero, very popular in the middle Eastern market, I barely see them in the UK.
Nice car indeed,no question about it,rare and exclusive. The 2WD is because is the road version and for fuel economy, performances and emision is the drive mood on the road and on gravel aswell for most of the time,is nothing to do with the race version as that one have a complety diferent 4WD for race use only The same with the gear box,the used to use a compettion gear box not relate at all with the road ersion Nice review but lacking more tecnical info about the car,kms/litre,emisions,etc aswell as the better view of the inside of the car, rear seats, the boot,etc......... Good job, nice car but its room for improve
This car seems to have some modifications to it's interior, all of those alcantara bits are after market, the seats have also been retrimmed. Because the Evolution Pajero is such a small build number parts are very expensive & very hard to obtain, I'd still have one in a heartbeat though.
Yup it does, mine has evo 4 seats and climate control where the radio is also the door trims look different. - 12,000k's he said , i doubt it with all that interior work done
the center dash HVAC vents are plugged up by a high mounted radio unit, HVAC controls are not moved, OEM stereo was formerly below HVAC controls. Has 2 different pairs of extra front speakers. He shoulda tested the sound system, since not driving in dirt, lol. Yes, lame review.
It still irks me that in a homologated production model (made for a rally, no less!) the manual shifter goes forward for upshift and backwards for downshifts. It should be the other way around for obvious reasons. Probably the ONLY thing I don't like about this car.
they also make the manual for pajero evolution but, they are very rare & some owner that have manual ver. of pajero evolution reporting that the transmission is not reliable & easy to break
Yes, i'd prefer motosport sequential push to downshift, but early tiptronic shifters were probably made that way to be similar to the orientation of standard auto shifter. In real use, its no big deal. just not as cool, but separate gate +/- set ups like that suck anyway, because there is no way to lock out overdrive, or higher gears and still have auto shifting. This one is also bogus because it will still shift if you go outside certain wheel/engine speed parameters.
@@drtone I mean...even my Mazda 3 has a proper forward to down and back to up gate to be used in "manual mode" for the automatic transmission. It's far slower than a real sequential, obviously, but it just feels natural.
Wow man, this small SUV Car is amazing. It is such a pity that Mitsubishi doesn't produce them anymore. I am trying to get one here in the US, but I'm not sure if this car ever made it here. Recently I saw a movie made in Spain, where one of these cars was driven, and I fell in love with it. It is cool, good-looking and small, just the way I want it. Here in the US all SUV are huge because of "family", but what about us "the single families" or no families. If any of you have any idea whether this car was brought to the US market, please let me know. I will certainly appreciate it. In the meantime I will continue to look for one of them near New York.
You can import any car older than 25 years old to the united states. They are just starting to make it to the US because of this rule so you may find some for sale around the country. However, it would likely be more successful/cheaper but more work/time for you to try to win one at Japanese auction through an auction/import company like PacificCoastAuto (PacificCoastJDM). I did that with my '94 Toyota MR2 Turbo Hardtop and it was waaaay cheaper, but I did have to wait 2 months during the start of covid, and had to go pick it up from port a few states away (and do some, but luckily not much, paperwork to get it out of port, and registered legally in PA).
Cool! Though I actually prefer the standard models of the V20 generation, this evolution is just a killa! Is it possible to completely lock the rear differential? (R/D button normally positioned in front of the levers) I would be happy to get some more specs!? 🙋🏻♂️
