Spider Sense wouldn’t have registered Harry as a threat in any way, because not only is he a close and loyal friend of Peter, but also he’s barely even walking to begin with. That first swing was the equivalent to getting suckerpunched by your best friend out of nowhere
When Peter was looking for Kraven, his Spider Sense goes off but he didn't have time to react. His Spider Sense went off moments before Lizard attacks, likely because Peter doesn't feel like he's in danger, he's paying attention to something. His spider sense doesn't like always alerts him of potential danger. It's just Peter to be aware of his surroundings so he can be tricked if he doesnt think he is danger. Also the gameplay is NOT INCLUDED. WE ARE FOCUSING ON CUTSCENES. THAT IS i IT!

One thing about tombstone not killing spider-man on their first meeting. The reason why he doesn’t, is because he’s still keeping up a public figure that he was a good person. People would suspect things if spider-man went missing after confronting him.
The video boils down to the guy complaining that Spider-Man was struggling with 1. an enhanced stronger version of the lizard(& keep in mind, lizard's supposed to be stronger than Spider-Man in his base form already in most adaptations) 2. a version of kraven who had already killed half of the sinister six, & thought electro was weak 3. a skyscraper sized sandman who had easily destroyed multiple buildings 4. and a version of venom who could lift an entire football field with his tendrils with relative ease if it were any other Spider-Man, be it from the live action film's or animated universe's, they probably would've preformed the same if not worse than yuri's Spider-Man did against these guys. nowadays people think losing fights automatically equals to being weak no matter how strong the other opponents are built up to be beforehand

No other version of Spider-Man from live action or animated would have beaten him, I mean maybe they would but who knows I definitely think any one of them would be struggling. Like you can't compare other different versions of the characters with different power scaling like imagine putting Spider-Man 3's Venom and this game's Venom on the same level it just doesn't work.

He has zero evasion skills, and most importantly has to be bailed out all the time. He got hit in the last game. That's okay. I don' have an issue with Peter getting caught. But he never gets himself out of situations here. Either Miles pulls him from sand, Miles pulls him from the symbiote, or MJ drags him away from Venom while Miles does the actual fighting. Even when it's supposedly his turn to save Miles, he just sort of screams a lot before Miles breaks out himself and saves Peter instead. Like take in he doesn't win a single major fight on his own in the whole game. So the examples the video guy used sucked but Peter's defo been nerfed

I think SM2 is probably the most grounded Spider-Man adaption so far, if the game was set when he first got his powers, he would have been beaten many many times, but being set to 10 years from that point, he has gotten used to his rogues gallery, however protagonist's like rhino, sandman and electro, they also grow and learn from Spider-Man, being why even now he can struggle with them, so it makes absolute sense that venom, an unpredictable, recently unknown monster is going to be a massive threat. so much like batman, he must be one step ahead, use his environment, utilize their weaknesses and convert their advantages into their disadvantages. hell venom in his final form had abilities that venomized Spider-Man didn't (red symbiot rockets, wings, the symbiot wave when you move to a different platform) still yet again is contemplating to basically end his best friends life. the story isn't as strong as sm1, but the story to gameplay connection is stronger and makes it more seamless.

I agree with everything here. I also feel like this Spider-Man also hasn’t dealt with these bigger threats like Kraven, Green Goblin, and Venom so it’s his first time facing him so that’s why he loses and the fact they are just way stronger threats
But there's nothing shown towards that. The only returning boss we get from past games is Mr. Negative and he NEVER fought Miles, so there's nothing to tell "oh he got better at it", and he still lost. All the past villains got killed off and offscreen, so they were about as meaningful in story progression as any NPC. Also, Kraven doesn't show almost any learning because we only fight him as Peter once. ONCE. He didn't even study Spider-Man before even meeting him, he just got lucky in each encounter. If not for Miles, Peter would've killed Kraven, so it just makes him seem dumb. Venom should've been perfect at that because he was literally Peter, but the game doesn't make any effort to display that, he's just a boss like the others, and he doesn't even have his main advantage: not activating the spider sense.

People seem to forget that super humans are still, well... human. Peter has increased stamina and endurance, sure. But not infinite! Also, (and Stan Lee admitted this himself) that the winners and losers of a fight are determined by the writer. This story is clearly trying to tell us that Peter does not have to do the Spider-Man thing alone, and that it's okay to have help.
This is why I hate the power scaling community, they poison the fans minds into thinking that power stays constant no matter what even with evidence that it’s not always the case. They say insomniac Spider-Man can solo the sinister six , even though scorpion by himself almost killed him by poisoning him. He says “if it were me I would’ve killed you but he wants you alive, have fun”then later he fights rhino and scorpion and wins
Yeah it is nearly impossible to power scale someone but I find it fun looking at feats and determining who would win between each other it’s always been a fun concept
That statement means he could have killed spiderman while he was off guard. Remember scorpion jumped spidey without him knowing he was there so he could have stabbed him with his tail while of guard again. Secondly peter had broken bones so he was nerfed and not as full strength.
On the note of Kraven killing Peter, where he stabbed with the knife was also literally in a vital area of the human body. Like, that wound is straight up lethal and almost a guaranteed death without any treatment immediately.

I seen the entire episodes of 2017-2020 Disney Spider-Man. Peter and Miles defeated Venom with a sonic weapon in their school basketball court. And that was it.
Ok I have 2 points with the being pinned down by the fridge scene. 1. In the comics Peters spider sense does not go off when venom is near due to the fact that Peter had once used the suit. 2.If you look closely peters feet are trapped because of the weight from the fridge. The fact he couldn't get up is because he had to free his feet first to get a good grip on the fridge and be able to pull it off him.
3. Peter hasn’t slept since he first did his symbiote rampage when he sleeps on the bench. So he’s fought Kraven, Miles, got knocked by Venom, and has been dealing with a bunch of symbiotes so he was clearly fatigued

I’m so sick of hearing about the freakin fridge. Peter’s been through the wringer up to that point, physically and emotionally. Then he took a hit from Venom, even with MJ getting hit first that’s still gonna be major. And sure you can say MJ didn’t seem hurt but there’s no way to know if she would’ve survived without getting her own suit. We see the symbiote can heal the host and she only spent 11 seconds (which apparently is an insane amount of time) after the hit without a symbiote, she probably would’ve died. I don’t get why Spiderman fans want Peter to be some invulnerable alpha male. That’s never been him, he’s beloved because he gets knocked down all the time and still gets back up. It would’ve been a much more boring and unfaithful story if Peter just took down every single obstacle in his path and then the symbiote was just basically a reskin because he didn’t need it to overcome any problem and Miles is just a pointless footnote because Peter can take care of everything himself. What kind of character is that? Some of the best interpretations of the suit are when Peter relies on it BECAUSE he’s not strong enough to beat a new threat and he feels like he needs it, it’s a freaking allegory for addiction, you don’t get addicted to something that seems optional. The worst thing about beloved characters is the rabid fanbase that always follows them and won’t accept anything even slightly outside their idea of the character

Another thing to add is that the knife was POISIONED. Peter is struggling to be Spider-Man after losing May, stressing about keeping Feast open, stressing about keeping his job, stressing about keeping May's house, stressing about balancing his relationship, stressing to pay a four THOUSAND dollar monthly mortgage. THEN POSIONED. If Peter somehow had his live balanced and was not physically and mentally exhausted, Peter would've been shown to be WAY stronger
Does the game show it was poisoned? Also, a poison wouldn't just kill Peter. He's a veteran, his adrenaline would counter it. Even Kraven had to use an antidote to Scorpion's venom, meaning that even Kraven who is supposedly so much stronger wouldn't use a venom that he couldn't handle.
The knife never was shown to be poisoned, that is straight up made up dog. You can even see the exact same type of knife that Kravens hunters use in the restaurant mission as Peter. It’s not even a Kraven specific knife.
16:25 Peter physically could be in his prime, sure. But it’s established early on that Peter doesn’t have the right balance in his life. It’s established that May’s death still hurts him to his core. In a large chunk of the game, he isn’t in a great mental state.
Miles only lost to kraven because he was exhausted from not only fighting Lee but also using so much of his power and the fridge stayed on peter and it cut to scene so we can see Mj turn into scream and then easily got the fridge off him.
First, trying to powerscale superheroes whether it be comics, tv shows, or games is nearly impossible. Second, it's canon in the comics, tv shows, and games that Spider-Man pulls his punches. One of the best examples of this was in the Superior Spider-Man run where Doc Ock takes over Peter's body and literally punches Scorpion's jaw off. He realizes that Spider-Man could have ended all of his rogues gallery if he wanted to. Peter underestimating his opponents his a common occurrence.
Agreed. Power scaling is very vague but feats do count for something and it can also be really fun to try and determine some of that stuff. Also Superior Spider-Man is in my top 5 favorite comics love it

Imma be honest, I do think Sony should lose the rights to Spider-Man. They clearly don’t give a shit about the character. They left the actual fans to make the Spider-Verse movies, because they think the real money is in the live action films. News flash Sony, if you leave a project alone we love it because the writers and director’s vision is come to life, and they truly do love the character. The Venom movies are funny and fine, I know Venom’s goofy in the comics, but I would’ve preferred a more dark and rated r venom movie. And must I bring up Madame Web and Morbius? They fired Andrew Garfield because he was sick on a work day, they caused Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 to be cancelled, and they shoved Venom into Spider-Man 3 because the fans wanted it, which meant MONEY. They care only about the money. Marvel should get the rights back. Insomniac, the writers of the Spider-Verse movies, Sam Raimi are all fans of the character, but Sony keeps messing things up for them. Thank God they haven’t screwed up Insomniac’s vision.
One thing I will say. Even though it has its flaws. I still absolutely love spider-man 2 with a passion. It still shines amazingly in certain story beats, like the relationship between Pete and harry in the beginning. Also HOLY shit you guys explained the miles and Peter boss fight perfectly.
I'll never understand how some people can be such clowns to think "Well the hero isn't winning every fight, so therefore they are weak". Like...bruh...One punch man was literally made as a direct parody on that concept. Showing how boring a hero always winning without any issues or help being needed would be. A hero losing doesn't make them weak, It makes the villain strong and thus require a new method to take them down.Heck, my OWN characters in my own comics get absolutely molly whopped sometimes. I always focus on the aspect of story telling where a hero has a tough time, But finds a way to overcome it, Usually through having allies to help them. Heroes have to have a struggle in order to have a real triumph.
My only complaint about the game about peter's "nerf" is the fact that it's cannon since Yuri said peter was slower when they fought, but they really did not give a crap to explaining how and why he's weaker Also the anti-venom was VERY nerfed if you know the comics version, but if it wasn't I don't think that this venom would even be as much of a treat

Peter was weakened since all the the stuff he went through in the first game and also the second game definitely put a huge toll on him and i definitely would say Peter can put up a good fight with kraven even with out the black suit we just never saw it since this happened so it’s just story
One thing that I don't think they emphasized as well as some of the other mediums that adapted the Venom storyline is the part where the suit is wearing Peter when he's supposed to be resting. Instead of sleeping, Peter is being dragged out by the symbiote and engaging in some pretty difficult battles, so he really has no time to rest/recover and has to rely on the symbiote even more for strength. I can't remember if it was Spectacular or the 90's animated series that had a scene where Peter goes to sleep, then the suit beats up the Sinister Six for him, and Peter wakes up the next morning talking about how sore he's feeling, but he basically chalks it up to not realizing how bad he got injured in his previous fights. It's basically like how part of Bane's master plan to beat Batman involved never letting Batman rest by tiring him out with a bunch of smaller villains so when they did finally fight, Batman was at a severe disadvantage. But the game does a decent job emphasizing that Peter is off balance and because he can't really focus on one aspect of his life, he's ultimately struggling in all of them. Again, to use a Batman comparison, one of Peter's strength is his ability to out think his opponents. He's not quite as reliant on it as Batman is to defeat his opponents, but when he's off his game, it's going to hurt him. If everything else in Peter's life was in order and he had just a little more time to focus on Kraven and come up with more of a plan/get a better idea of what Kraven is capable of. Heck, that's actually one of the reasons why Kraven has the edge, he's implied to have been planning and studying Peter for a pretty long time before the game begins and he has all these resources prepared, but then when the symbiote is introduced, he's also scrambling and improvising because now he's the one caught off guard.

Quick Google search, the average weight of a fridge can weigh up to 360 lbs or 163.36 kgs. In the shot where spiderman has a fridge on top of him, you can see that when it fell on him, the fridge hit his head so hard that it bounced off the floor. Keep in mind the reason he's pinned in the first place is because Venom who's stronger than spiderman, knocks MJ into him hard enough to have the fridge fall on him. This proves he's not nerfed, he's just staggered.
This was a very enjoyable video and a calm, reasonable, and excellent dismantling of toxic and downright wrong takes of this version of Peter, Venom, and Miles. I have my share of feedback and criticism of SM2 but dude I love this game still and I can acknowledge it's issues without sounding like a 8 year old.

Good video but I have a few issues: 1. Peter’s Spidersense should have warned him of Kraven’s knife. 2. Spider-Man was able to defeat Scorpion while injured when Scorpion had the backup of Rhino meaning Peter is beyond Scorpion’s level so Spider-Man should have lasted much longer than Scorpion did against Kraven. 3, Tombstone may not have killed Spectacular Spider-Man so word would spread of his victory which would improve his reputation and if Spider-Man is alive he could beat him again further improving his rep. 4. Peter did seem to be losing his fight to Sandman despite having Miles’s backup. 5. Even a fatigued Peter would have no problem with a fridge and the debris is likely much heavier than the fridge plus Peter was likely more fatigued when the debris fell on him than he was when the debris did. 6. Miles isn’t stronger than base Peter, Peter’s powers have mutated over the years so he is likely stronger plus if it’s like the comics, Peter has a stronger Spidersense.

I actually got that wrong in this video Spider-Man barley even fights them they just start arguing with each other and that leads to Rhino charging into Scorpion and them getting locked into a container. 3. It was obvious Scorpion and others were holding back on Spidey as ordered by Otto and yet gave Spidey run for money and yet Kraven no-diffed him. People complain on Miles saving Peter from getting drowned in sand but not later scene where he also saves Miles from getting eaten by Sandman. Venom no-low diffed Kraven who went toe-to-toe with Symbiote Spidey so it makes sense for him to kick his ass even though he was holding back not to kill Harry and yet hold his own against Venom. By that obvious logic, Peter wasn't nerfed and would have beaten Kraven without Symbiote the second time they fight (unless if Kraven studies his weakness and exploits it)

I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't a subscriber before I watched this but I was bored and the video caught my attention. The title was short and sweet and the thumbnail kinda also got my attention. Point being I enjoyed the video and I subscribed to you because you definitely showed effort in this video (I'm not saying you don't on others) but with you backing up your evidence or even just putting one over another together while....honestly...having common sense and critizing while being respectful and hilarous at the same time was very enjoyable and interesting. I'm also want to somehow make videos like these where I kinda do breakdowns/opinion like type of vids, i'm trying my best to do better in my channel and do more than just gaming and you have given me an idea about it and I thank you and will remember you for inspiring the idea. I agree that some of these statements are pretty stupid, But I do believe he is nerfed. Not from any strength or speed, But in his spidey senses and Intelligence. In the intro, We see that Peter getting his ass beat by sandman. But he didn't react to sandman slapping him to the floor. And he didn't even bother saving himself, he reached his hand for miles to help. If this was really lore accurate, He would've dodged the slap or swing away. Here's another example, When Peter got stabbed. He should've sensed that Kraven had a knife. And he didn't even bother pushing it away, but excepted his fate. Overall, I do believe he did get nerfed from Intelligence and Spidey senses.
I wanna add for the Lizard fight that whatever Kraven did to the serum made Lizard stronger than he’s ever been before, so it makes sense Peter would need the Symbiote due to the Lizard’s newly enhanced.. well everything, compared to when he fought him the first tkme
Yo loved your video man! I sometimes feel the same. I think a lot of Spiderman fans, especially new ones, forget that Spiderman is still human. He's not a freakish monster like vemon and lizard where something like amputation is laughed off and regenerated. Spiderman's organs still function for the most part like normal. So sure a fridge falling on him wouldn't hurt him but it can still stun him due to his already fatigued and his head bouncing between the floor and fridge. He's still human give a break, and c'mon.... 11-12 seconds on the ground is a crazy complaint 😑

A fridge isn't pinning spider-man down. It really doesn't matter that he's tired. MJ is in danger the guy who effortless lifts cars is launching that shit and Saving mj sorry but that's just common sense.
So this game nerfed Peter because he can’t take a 10 inch knife to the chest and struggles against villains he’s never faced before that also are greater threats than he’s ever fought before. Makes sense. Did any of these people play the DLC of the first game? He has a hard time with a ten foot cyborg Hammerhead, almost gets killed by him and needs to be saved by Silver Sable. They then have to team up to take him down later. Nobody bats an eye at this, but Peter struggling against a peak human Kraven, a giant Sandman, and Venom is a problem. I totally get it.
I love how Peter got cooked for about a third of the first game and nobody really cared back then. No seriously, it’s a joke how much Peter messes up in the first game.

My favorite instance of this is when to stop a helicopter, Spider-Man had the bright idea to attach his webbing to some sort of non-bolted down construction thing and it failed, creating a flying wrecking ball that tore through the city. 😂
That... just makes it worse. Basically Insomniac failed to write Spider-Man since the first game, making this game even worse because they completely ignored those mistakes and made even worse ones now.
@@radrno7 Peter being Fallible is not a mistake. One of the most famous Spider-Man stories of an age had Spider-Man lose his powers because he couldn't balance the responsibilities of being Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
Well, to be fair, the main reason he got cooked was because he literally had the WHOLE SINISTER SIX beat his ass. It's hard to keep track of opponents of equivalent strength while he could beat them individually. Spider Man 2 doesn't have that. He always engages in one on one fights except in the chase scenes. Peter being tired is an okay explanation, I guess, but he's still knocked out of the fight with Venom quite easily when he should be on even ground with him at least Post Anti Venom suit.
Really, my only big problem with the game is that how rushed it was, especially with its 3rd act. (By the way, great video and nice counterpoints to the video you were debunking.)
The point of the symbiote arc is that Peter gets empowered by it (or at least less restrained because of it) and thus he gets intoxicated by it. Of course he should be/feel stronger with the symbiote. Without that, the symbiote arc wouldn’t be what it is. And of course you root for your hero to win every fight but that’s not what ever happens. Superheroes (and Spider-Man in particular) often emerge victorious while being the underdog. Peter or Miles’ resilience is the greatest superpower they have.

So Peter getting nerfed is something that’s carefully crafted down to the script. They must also want that because they want to “prepare” the players to leave Peter behind and move their favoritism towards Miles for when they completely replace Peter as the main character in the next game(s). 2.) It’s no secret that Marvel hates Spider-Man and they also hate the original versions of each white male hero. I mean they’ve been butchering characters like Peter in the last decade since their comics. Look at how they throw away Iron Man/Captain America/Thor/Hulk’s legacies in the MCU to be joked on so the “more diverse” counterparts look better than them on screen. But they just got lucky and played it clever when it came to destroying Peter Parker and they’re getting away with it, which is why almost nobody says anything about Spider-Man being trashed on in non-comic book media. If with "base Peter" you mean just power, youre correct, but but if is Peter without Symbiont, then I need to disagree since Peter main strength is his inteligence. he has much more skill with the normal powers than Miles since has more experience and since he depends more of them than Miles, he evolve more his skills with them. Peter is the one that created the whole Spiderman arsenal; Webs, Technology of suit, wings, the spider arms (those are much stronger, and the fact they almost didnt appear is a downside of the story, since it increases drastically his potential and possibilities. Yeah I meant Peter without the Symbiote isn’t as strong as Miles. Peter may be intelligent but I feel Miles has more raw power especially with his venom powers even Miles is able to go 1v1 directly with Rhino, something Peter has trouble doing. Miles has gained a lot more experience as well since he first started out, he’s even able to go toe to toe with Lee. Also the durability for both seems to be insane I would even say on par just for the fact Miles took an explosion that was said to destroy all of Harlem. But I think the environment also matters in that situation too if Peter is able to trick Miles somehow or use something to his advantage he has the win but also Miles could do the same. But if they were just fighting 1v1 in a contained area then I think Miles has the win but it’s all theoretical who knows who would actually win it’s just a fun idea to think about
Clearly insomniac really does care about Spider-Man as a character look at the first game. Great story, great character development able to flash out doc ock, they were even planning to have venom stock, Peter Parker, and have destructible environments but Sony rushed them before they could do any of that and I heard the third act was way different before Sony made them change it, and I do agree that Peter should have been more flushed out with the symbiote on him there’s really only two scenes where he’s a dickhead at Harry’s house and when he’s fighting miles and I guess Kraven

I agree with you for most of it, but the fridge thing rly shouldn't have been there. I didn't mind it in my first playthrough, but when I went back to watch the scene again after everyone complained about it I understood why they were so mad. I mean, peter sees the tendrils coming towards him, MJ jumps in front of it for some unknown reason, pete gets downed by a fridge after MJ softened the blow for him and he proceeds to stay there for 12 more seconds. They were on sumthin else when they wrote this one. but yeah eveything else is peak.
It's ridiculous to use guys like scorpion as examples of Kraven being strong enough to killed spider-man that fast. Spider-man handled scorpion and rhino at the same time. Also how didn't his spider sense warn him of the knife, this is the same spider-man we saw reacting to lightning in mid air while fighting vulture too. Like the whole idea that he wasn't nerfed a bit it ridiculous. I'm not a fool who's gonna act like heroes aren't going to have to fit the narrative. Example Flash not being fast enough sometimes. It makes sense how Kraven killed Spider-Man but it is ridiculous. His spider sense is never consistent even in the first game. His main focus was the lightning in the first game in the second game he’s trying to defeat Sandman, his attention is focused elsewhere and also his spider sense shouldn’t even be able to counter it since danger is everywhere.

Also, another reason he beat scorpion and Rhino was because the entire fight, the two were basically having a contest on who could kill Spider-Man attacking one at a time. And insulting eachother.

Peter was definitely nerfed but this guy went about it the wrong way by using other Spider-Men adaptations instead of just using insomniac feats and anti feats because if he did he would have had a lot more ground to stand on.

Yeah you can say that because I haven’t seen Madame Web and I already know it’s dog shit and I have no clue what there doing with there live action movies 🤮 but Across was very good and I really like Insomniacs take on the character. Kraven is showen to have killed Scorpion, Vulture, Electro, Shocker and Peter. And when Peter is in Kraven’s mansion, if you observe the potions, he says “Maybe this is why he’s so FREAKISHLY STRONG”. I think it speaks volumes for Peter to say someone is freakishly strong. And Kraven is not just pure muscle, like Rhino.
I'm not going to watch this video, cause it sounds like this guy was really dumb at expressing his opinion and i don't want to waste my time So I'll state why I feel Peter was nerfed 1. The infamous fridge scene makes no sense when we've seen Sandman throw Miles and Peter clean through walls and they've been practically uninjured, they could definitely recover from a fridge falling on them even while fatigued 2. The Sandman fight is where I feel the nerf becomes the most apparent. There are points where Peter definitely has time to dodge Sandman's attacks and he doesn't even try to move, and the electricity repeatedly strikes him despite him later showing the spider arms are capable of holding the charge when Miles charges him up. In the first game, he was capable of dodging lightning from Electro using Spider Sense, he should have been able to dodge two lightning bolts. There's also when he falls into the sand and for some reason, doesn't try to pull himself out with his own webs, instead having Miles save him for whatever reason. 4. For some reason the Anti Venom Symbiote doesn't even put him on even ground with Venom even though the damn thing is literally the cure to Symbiotes. It seemed to be a negligible boost to Peter's fighting strength against Venom that Miles still somehow did marginally better with powers that aren't even meant to counter Symbiotes. 5. Peter needed help to remove the Symbiote from himself, while Miles was able to flat out reject it despite the fact he was dealing with his own father's loss just as much as Peter was with May. If miles could reject the Symbiote that quickly I would think Peter would notice that he's acting strangely much sooner and eventually remove it himself with no outside help. I still think its a great game for what it is, but I have lot of issues with its writing, and the fact that they seem to be attempting to retire Peter in the entirely wrong way that goes against the core of his character. I have no problem with Miles being the main Spider Man, but the way they're going about doing it just is awful, as it goes against the whole "with great power comes great responsibility". Peter isn't the type to stop working his job as Spider Man just because someone else can be Spider Man. He still has the power, therefore he still has the responsibility. The way they could have made this work is if his work at Emily May Foundation was a new great power, thus leaving him with a bigger responsibility than being Spider Man but there is no dialogue implying that is how he feels. There's also a number of dialogues that imply Miles is a better Spider Man than Peter, which makes no sense, like "Why would the city need me when it has you?" and "redeeming your greatest enemy? Can't say I've done that." when he literally redeemed Tombstone. Now you could argue semantics with Tombstone not being a "greatest enemy", but you can't deny I do have a point. There's also the fact that Peter also never once scolds Miles for letting his anger put innocent people on danger when he focuses all his attention on making sure Li doesn't escape. Peter shouldn't have to beg Miles to do his job and the game should have addressed that. Peter and Miles's costs for being Spider-Man are also annoyingly varied in number, as Miles has basically nothing close to the consequences Peter has for being Spider Man, while Peter straight up gets fired from his job, and Miles somehow doesn't lose any opportunities from being Spider-Man. No, his biggest issue is that he can't write a damn essay... And that someone assumed he was busy when he couldn't show up at something to due with his musical interests.
Peter was in no way nerfed in Marvel Spiderman 2 the dude was literally grieving and taking on more responsibility than he could handle at that. Peter was also injured when he fought Kraven as well
I honestly love Spider-Man 2, I played through it like 3 times, it’s a really pleasant game, I hate Pete’s character when he has the black suit but that’s part of the plot, he’s being a jerk to everyone, blaming Miles for his mistakes and stuff. That section of the game really ties it together because of how Miles sticks with him the whole time, trying to get him to snap out of it
Spider-man is known for not being invincible. It feels like people aren't mad that he was "nerfed" but more that he lost in general, even if the L was deserved. I get it, people don't like seeing their favorite characters lose, but there's a big difference between plot induced stupidity and losing because you lost. It's honestly sad that the more people like a character/franchise/IP, the more hateful they become when someone does something they don't like with it. The star wars fanbase is a *prime* example of this. You can't do anything unless it's something they approve of. Like you *need* their permission to be creative.

Fair but I feel we needed more clips of him talking with MJ and Harry or him reflecting on his actions. I just didn’t feel we had many personal conflicts and it should’ve been explored more.
@@krispykrb7081 I agree with this, I believe we should have had more Peter, Harry, and MJ conflict. Although what we got was good as well. Peter resorting to “kill Kraven” due to Kraven being the source of all his problems. Example: Indirectly getting him fired from the school, destroying his dream job, making him closer to losing May’s house, killing a lot of villains, destroyed “his city”, and also captured Miles. Also I think this is good for the Symbiote’s character as it wasn’t really evil (Except for when Knull kind of made it go crazy), it was only giving the host what they wanted (Example: “We gave you everything you ever wanted, and you threw us away!”) Overall, I just love this game and I think I got a bit carried away with talking about what I liked with the story.

Huh, I'm surprised they think Insomniac favors Miles over Peter. I thought it was pretty clearly the opposite, Peter feels like he's the main character in the story while Miles is just sorta his sidekick. Both of the main villains are very Peter-centric, Kraven doesn't feel like he was interested in hunting Spider-man 2.0 at all, and Venom/Harry obviously relates way more to Peter than Miles. Even Peter's supporting cast is more involved than MIle's, MJ is actively doing things in the story while Genke is just sorta relegated to tech dude behind the screen and Miles's mom is just sorta there sometimes. Even Peter's sidequests feel like they have a lot more weight and importance. Like, the Carnage fire cult people are, once again, more Peter's villains than anything else, and that whole questline feels like it's something where the city is being threatened. Miles's quests are way more "friendly neighborhood Spider-man" levels of helping out in the community. Which is totally fine, not every sidequest has to be big, but I think it is telling the ones with more weight are Peter-focused. I think Peter overall also has way more character development outside of questing. Part of it is to build up Harry's character, but again, that just shows how Peter focused the story is since they're building up Harry to show why he's a big deal in Peter's life. Peter's personal life is also way more front and center than Miles. While they share the "uncertain future" plotlines, Peter's job hunt is covered in way more detail and gets multiple scenes throughout, while Miles's essay writing thing is largely just background dialogue. Like, with Peter we have a whole scene where he's walking through the lab, hearing about all these projects, being told why he'd be a great co-director (or whatever the official title is) and a series of sidequests relating to it. There's really no equivalent of that with Miles and his college writing essay subplot, which really felt tacked on and not like anything the writers cared about. There's also more "life of" scenes with Peter, like walking around May's house and going to Coney Island, while Miles only had a small sprinkling of those, and IMO, the Miles side felt more like filler while Peter's had more plot significance. The biggest thing Miles had going for him was all the stuff with Mr. Negative. Which was fine, but let's not pretend it was anywhere near the level of the Peter plots, it got significantly less screen time than either the Venom or Kraven storylines. IMO, that's also why there's more scenes of Peter struggling compared to Miles, because the main character is always going to be the one who struggles the most in a story because they're the central point of conflict. Miles is getting beat up as much because, well, putting it bluntly, none of the villains really care about Miles enough to go after him. If I remember right, Kraven is even disappointed when they captured Miles and not Peter and just sorta uses him as entertainment. I took that as a sign that Kraven was straight up saying Miles wasn't worth his attention to fight directly. Oh, and in that moment where Miles is arguably wearing the main character pants, he also has his own moment where the plot allows him to get beat up so he can be captured. To use another comic comparison, it felt like Miles was the robin to Peter's Batman. IMO, the Spider-man titles are meant to be more Peter centric, while the Miles spinoff is obviously meant to be his thing. And it felt like the ending of this game was setting up the next Miles game, where he'll get to jump from side character to full on main character again while Peter is away. But, again, even the end of the game, sequel bait stuff was super Peter focused, with the implication we'll get Green Goblin, and the return of Doc Ock, both of which are Peter-centric villains/characters and not really at all associated with Miles. Being an unknown is also sort of a strength for Miles. I think a lot of his "strength" comes from the villains not really knowing/expecting him to be there, so they're caught off guard because his powerset is different from Peter's. I think to a lot of villains, Miles is kind of a "literal who" or, at best, "Spider-man Jr." so they think they can just use the same ol' tricks against Miles, only to be caught off guard by his lightning powers. This is kind of a thing in the comics, where Peter often ends up beating his villains because they don't expect him to science up new gadgets/webs/suits etc. so they're ultimately defeated because they were prepared for fighting a more "traditional" spider-man.
I love this game, but man I have a lot of issues with it. I do think because Peter is so old, and he's not faced a majority of his arch nemesis' in the past, it makes him feel super weak. And through a lot of the story, it rly did feel like they forgot about Spider-Sense, I mean in the first mission Peter is barely holding his own, he just watches as a massive sand arm slowly launches toward him and just takes it. I've been planning on doing a breakdown on this game at some point, I'm mainly waiting to see what DLC releases. But a big point I have his how the dev of Miles Morales had to interrupt the dev of this game. Obviously to justify the cost of designing an entire new playable character, they made the spinoff. Which in my opinion, was poorly done but still fun.

I mean he hasn’t slept since his Symbiote rampage so he’s fought Kraven, Miles, got knocked by Venom, and was dealing with a bunch of Symbiotes even in this game it’s confirmed he’s fatigued by Dr. Connor’s when he was asking him. He’s also mentally not in the right head space but I can see why people are still upset about this but I think anyone would be tired in that situation and not at 100% and it’s not like he even technically won against Rhino and Scorpion they just started arguing and that leads to them fighting each other and them getting locked into a container. Yeah it’s weird his spider sense seems to be very inconsistent but I feel like that’s always been a thing with Spider-Man. Everyone can have there own opinions on this argument but it’s ultimately up to the writers also I have more points in my newest video if you wanna check it out
The bullshit about the fridge is pissing me off! Peter was pushed by venom full power to his fridge and the full weight of MJ as well. He hit the fridge knob with the back of his head, he fell with the fridge and the fridge knob hit his head again and his head bounced off the floor twice. Spider Sense wouldn’t have registered Harry as a threat in any way, because not only is he a close and loyal friend of Peter, but also he’s barely even walking to begin with. That first swing was the equivalent to getting suckerpunched by your best friend out of nowhere

When Peter was looking for Kraven, his Spider Sense goes off but he didn't have time to react.
His Spider Sense went off moments before Lizard attacks, likely because Peter doesn't feel like he's in danger, he's paying attention to something.
His spider sense doesn't like always alerts him of potential danger. It's just Peter to be aware of his surroundings so he can be tricked if he doesnt think he is danger.

3. a skyscraper sized sandman who had easily destroyed multiple buildings
4. and a version of venom who could lift an entire football field with his tendrils with relative ease
if it were any other Spider-Man, be it from the live action film's or animated universe's, they probably would've preformed the same if not worse than yuri's Spider-Man did against these guys. nowadays people think losing fights automatically equals to being weak no matter how strong the other opponents are built up to be beforehand

No other version of Spider-Man from live action or animated would have beaten him, I mean maybe they would but who knows I definitely think any one of them would be struggling. Like you can't compare other different versions of the characters with different power scaling like imagine putting Spider-Man 3's Venom and this game's Venom on the same level it just doesn't work.

He has zero evasion skills, and most importantly has to be bailed out all the time. He got hit in the last game. That's okay. I don' have an issue with Peter getting caught. But he never gets himself out of situations here. Either Miles pulls him from sand, Miles pulls him from the symbiote, or MJ drags him away from Venom while Miles does the actual fighting. Even when it's supposedly his turn to save Miles, he just sort of screams a lot before Miles breaks out himself and saves Peter instead. Like take in he doesn't win a single major fight on his own in the whole game. So the examples the video guy used sucked but Peter's defo been nerfed

I think SM2 is probably the most grounded Spider-Man adaption so far, if the game was set when he first got his powers, he would have been beaten many many times, but being set to 10 years from that point, he has gotten used to his rogues gallery, however protagonist's like rhino, sandman and electro, they also grow and learn from Spider-Man, being why even now he can struggle with them, so it makes absolute sense that venom, an unpredictable, recently unknown monster is going to be a massive threat.
so much like batman, he must be one step ahead, use his environment, utilize their weaknesses and convert their advantages into their disadvantages. hell venom in his final form had abilities that venomized Spider-Man didn't (red symbiot rockets, wings, the symbiot wave when you move to a different platform) still yet again is contemplating to basically end his best friends life.
the story isn't as strong as sm1, but the story to gameplay connection is stronger and makes it more seamless.

I agree with everything here. I also feel like this Spider-Man also hasn’t dealt with these bigger threats like Kraven, Green Goblin, and Venom so it’s his first time facing him so that’s why he loses and the fact they are just way stronger threats
But there's nothing shown towards that. The only returning boss we get from past games is Mr. Negative and he NEVER fought Miles, so there's nothing to tell "oh he got better at it", and he still lost.
All the past villains got killed off and offscreen, so they were about as meaningful in story progression as any NPC. Also, Kraven doesn't show almost any learning because we only fight him as Peter once. ONCE. He didn't even study Spider-Man before even meeting him, he just got lucky in each encounter. If not for Miles, Peter would've killed Kraven, so it just makes him seem dumb.
Venom should've been perfect at that because he was literally Peter, but the game doesn't make any effort to display that, he's just a boss like the others, and he doesn't even have his main advantage: not activating the spider sense.

People seem to forget that super humans are still, well... human. Peter has increased stamina and endurance, sure. But not infinite!
Also, (and Stan Lee admitted this himself) that the winners and losers of a fight are determined by the writer. This story is clearly trying to tell us that Peter does not have to do the Spider-Man thing alone, and that it's okay to have help.
If the writer is bad, the story will be bad, so yeah, Stan Lee was right in that regard.

That statement means he could have killed spiderman while he was off guard. Remember scorpion jumped spidey without him knowing he was there so he could have stabbed him with his tail while of guard again. Secondly peter had broken bones so he was nerfed and not as full strength.
On the note of Kraven killing Peter, where he stabbed with the knife was also literally in a vital area of the human body. Like, that wound is straight up lethal and almost a guaranteed death without any treatment immediately.

Ok I have 2 points with the being pinned down by the fridge scene.
1. In the comics Peters spider sense does not go off when venom is near due to the fact that Peter had once used the suit.
2.If you look closely peters feet are trapped because of the weight from the fridge. The fact he couldn't get up is because he had to free his feet first to get a good grip on the fridge and be able to pull it off him.

I’m so sick of hearing about the freakin fridge. Peter’s been through the wringer up to that point, physically and emotionally. Then he took a hit from Venom, even with MJ getting hit first that’s still gonna be major. And sure you can say MJ didn’t seem hurt but there’s no way to know if she would’ve survived without getting her own suit. We see the symbiote can heal the host and she only spent 11 seconds (which apparently is an insane amount of time) after the hit without a symbiote, she probably would’ve died. I don’t get why Spiderman fans want Peter to be some invulnerable alpha male. That’s never been him, he’s beloved because he gets knocked down all the time and still gets back up. It would’ve been a much more boring and unfaithful story if Peter just took down every single obstacle in his path and then the symbiote was just basically a reskin because he didn’t need it to overcome any problem and Miles is just a pointless footnote because Peter can take care of everything himself. What kind of character is that? Some of the best interpretations of the suit are when Peter relies on it BECAUSE he’s not strong enough to beat a new threat and he feels like he needs it, it’s a freaking allegory for addiction, you don’t get addicted to something that seems optional. The worst thing about beloved characters is the rabid fanbase that always follows them and won’t accept anything even slightly outside their idea of the character

Peter is struggling to be Spider-Man after losing May, stressing about keeping Feast open, stressing about keeping his job, stressing about keeping May's house, stressing about balancing his relationship, stressing to pay a four THOUSAND dollar monthly mortgage. THEN POSIONED. If Peter somehow had his live balanced and was not physically and mentally exhausted, Peter would've been shown to be WAY stronger

Does the game show it was poisoned? Also, a poison wouldn't just kill Peter. He's a veteran, his adrenaline would counter it. Even Kraven had to use an antidote to Scorpion's venom, meaning that even Kraven who is supposedly so much stronger wouldn't use a venom that he couldn't handle.
The knife never was shown to be poisoned, that is straight up made up dog. You can even see the exact same type of knife that Kravens hunters use in the restaurant mission as Peter. It’s not even a Kraven specific knife.

First, trying to powerscale superheroes whether it be comics, tv shows, or games is nearly impossible. Second, it's canon in the comics, tv shows, and games that Spider-Man pulls his punches. One of the best examples of this was in the Superior Spider-Man run where Doc Ock takes over Peter's body and literally punches Scorpion's jaw off. He realizes that Spider-Man could have ended all of his rogues gallery if he wanted to. Peter underestimating his opponents his a common occurrence.
Agreed. Power scaling is very vague but feats do count for something and it can also be really fun to try and determine some of that stuff. Also Superior Spider-Man is in my top 5 favorite comics love it

Imma be honest, I do think Sony should lose the rights to Spider-Man. They clearly don’t give a shit about the character. They left the actual fans to make the Spider-Verse movies, because they think the real money is in the live action films. News flash Sony, if you leave a project alone we love it because the writers and director’s vision is come to life, and they truly do love the character. The Venom movies are funny and fine, I know Venom’s goofy in the comics, but I would’ve preferred a more dark and rated r venom movie. And must I bring up Madame Web and Morbius? They fired Andrew Garfield because he was sick on a work day, they caused Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 4 to be cancelled, and they shoved Venom into Spider-Man 3 because the fans wanted it, which meant MONEY. They care only about the money. Marvel should get the rights back. Insomniac, the writers of the Spider-Verse movies, Sam Raimi are all fans of the character, but Sony keeps messing things up for them. Thank God they haven’t screwed up Insomniac’s vision.

IIrc, it's under three days in the game. Which makes sense, as this is a more experienced Spider-Man than Spectacular.
I'll never understand how some people can be such clowns to think "Well the hero isn't winning every fight, so therefore they are weak". Like...bruh...One punch man was literally made as a direct parody on that concept. Showing how boring a hero always winning without any issues or help being needed would be. A hero losing doesn't make them weak, It makes the villain strong and thus require a new method to take them down.Heck, my OWN characters in my own comics get absolutely molly whopped sometimes. I always focus on the aspect of story telling where a hero has a tough time, But finds a way to overcome it, Usually through having allies to help them. Heroes have to have a struggle in order to have a real triumph.
My only complaint about the game about peter's "nerf" is the fact that it's cannon since Yuri said peter was slower when they fought, but they really did not give a crap to explaining how and why he's weaker
Also the anti-venom was VERY nerfed if you know the comics version, but if it wasn't I don't think that this venom would even be as much of a treat

Peter was weakened since all the the stuff he went through in the first game and also the second game definitely put a huge toll on him and i definitely would say Peter can put up a good fight with kraven even with out the black suit we just never saw it since this happened so it’s just story
One thing that I don't think they emphasized as well as some of the other mediums that adapted the Venom storyline is the part where the suit is wearing Peter when he's supposed to be resting. Instead of sleeping, Peter is being dragged out by the symbiote and engaging in some pretty difficult battles, so he really has no time to rest/recover and has to rely on the symbiote even more for strength. I can't remember if it was Spectacular or the 90's animated series that had a scene where Peter goes to sleep, then the suit beats up the Sinister Six for him, and Peter wakes up the next morning talking about how sore he's feeling, but he basically chalks it up to not realizing how bad he got injured in his previous fights.
It's basically like how part of Bane's master plan to beat Batman involved never letting Batman rest by tiring him out with a bunch of smaller villains so when they did finally fight, Batman was at a severe disadvantage. But the game does a decent job emphasizing that Peter is off balance and because he can't really focus on one aspect of his life, he's ultimately struggling in all of them. Again, to use a Batman comparison, one of Peter's strength is his ability to out think his opponents. He's not quite as reliant on it as Batman is to defeat his opponents, but when he's off his game, it's going to hurt him. If everything else in Peter's life was in order and he had just a little more time to focus on Kraven and come up with more of a plan/get a better idea of what Kraven is capable of. Heck, that's actually one of the reasons why Kraven has the edge, he's implied to have been planning and studying Peter for a pretty long time before the game begins and he has all these resources prepared, but then when the symbiote is introduced, he's also scrambling and improvising because now he's the one caught off guard.

I saw the original video, man the dudes logic hurts my brain. Especially when he tried to compare him to other Spider-Men.
Quick Google search, the average weight of a fridge can weigh up to 360 lbs or 163.36 kgs.
In the shot where spiderman has a fridge on top of him, you can see that when it fell on him, the fridge hit his head so hard that it bounced off the floor.
Keep in mind the reason he's pinned in the first place is because Venom who's stronger than spiderman, knocks MJ into him hard enough to have the fridge fall on him.
This proves he's not nerfed, he's just staggered.

Good video but I have a few issues:
1. Peter’s Spidersense should have warned him of Kraven’s knife.
2. Spider-Man was able to defeat Scorpion while injured when Scorpion had the backup of Rhino meaning Peter is beyond Scorpion’s level so Spider-Man should have lasted much longer than Scorpion did against Kraven.
3, Tombstone may not have killed Spectacular Spider-Man so word would spread of his victory which would improve his reputation and if Spider-Man is alive he could beat him again further improving his rep.
4. Peter did seem to be losing his fight to Sandman despite having Miles’s backup.
5. Even a fatigued Peter would have no problem with a fridge and the debris is likely much heavier than the fridge plus Peter was likely more fatigued when the debris fell on him than he was when the debris did.
6. Miles isn’t stronger than base Peter, Peter’s powers have mutated over the years so he is likely stronger plus if it’s like the comics, Peter has a stronger Spidersense.

If u look closely at 2:22 Peter did grab Kraven's fist with his reflexes but yet got outmatched by Kraven's strength and speed by those red potions later found in his mansion.
It was obvious Scorpion and others were holding back on Spidey as ordered by Otto and yet gave Spidey run for money and yet Kraven no-diffed him.
People complain on Miles saving Peter from getting drowned in sand but not later scene where he also saves Miles from getting eaten by Sandman.
Venom no-low diffed Kraven who went toe-to-toe with Symbiote Spidey so it makes sense for him to kick his ass even though he was holding back not to kill Harry and yet hold his own against Venom.
By that obvious logic, Peter wasn't nerfed and would have beaten Kraven without Symbiote the second time they fight (unless if Kraven studies his weakness and exploits it)

I agree that some of these statements are pretty stupid, But I do believe he is nerfed. Not from any strength or speed, But in his spidey senses and Intelligence.
In the intro, We see that Peter getting his ass beat by sandman. But he didn't react to sandman slapping him to the floor. And he didn't even bother saving himself, he reached his hand for miles to help. If this was really lore accurate, He would've dodged the slap or swing away.
Here's another example, When Peter got stabbed. He should've sensed that Kraven had a knife. And he didn't even bother pushing it away, but excepted his fate.
Overall, I do believe he did get nerfed from Intelligence and Spidey senses.

When argue that he beat the sinister six, that entails that they’re anywhere close to the comics, which this idea couldn’t be further from the truth.

Yo loved your video man! I sometimes feel the same. I think a lot of Spiderman fans, especially new ones, forget that Spiderman is still human. He's not a freakish monster like vemon and lizard where something like amputation is laughed off and regenerated. Spiderman's organs still function for the most part like normal. So sure a fridge falling on him wouldn't hurt him but it can still stun him due to his already fatigued and his head bouncing between the floor and fridge. He's still human give a break, and c'mon.... 11-12 seconds on the ground is a crazy complaint 😑

So this game nerfed Peter because he can’t take a 10 inch knife to the chest and struggles against villains he’s never faced before that also are greater threats than he’s ever fought before. Makes sense. Did any of these people play the DLC of the first game? He has a hard time with a ten foot cyborg Hammerhead, almost gets killed by him and needs to be saved by Silver Sable. They then have to team up to take him down later. Nobody bats an eye at this, but Peter struggling against a peak human Kraven, a giant Sandman, and Venom is a problem. I totally get it.

One of the most famous Spider-Man stories of an age had Spider-Man lose his powers because he couldn't balance the responsibilities of being Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
Well, to be fair, the main reason he got cooked was because he literally had the WHOLE SINISTER SIX beat his ass. It's hard to keep track of opponents of equivalent strength while he could beat them individually. Spider Man 2 doesn't have that. He always engages in one on one fights except in the chase scenes.
Peter being tired is an okay explanation, I guess, but he's still knocked out of the fight with Venom quite easily when he should be on even ground with him at least Post Anti Venom suit.
Really, my only big problem with the game is that how rushed it was, especially with its 3rd act. (By the way, great video and nice counterpoints to the video you were debunking.)

The point of the symbiote arc is that Peter gets empowered by it (or at least less restrained because of it) and thus he gets intoxicated by it. Of course he should be/feel stronger with the symbiote. Without that, the symbiote arc wouldn’t be what it is. And of course you root for your hero to win every fight but that’s not what ever happens. Superheroes (and Spider-Man in particular) often emerge victorious while being the underdog. Peter or Miles’ resilience is the greatest superpower they have.

Yeah I meant Peter without the Symbiote isn’t as strong as Miles. Peter may be intelligent but I feel Miles has more raw power especially with his venom powers even Miles is able to go 1v1 directly with Rhino, something Peter has trouble doing. Miles has gained a lot more experience as well since he first started out, he’s even able to go toe to toe with Lee. Also the durability for both seems to be insane I would even say on par just for the fact Miles took an explosion that was said to destroy all of Harlem. But I think the environment also matters in that situation too if Peter is able to trick Miles somehow or use something to his advantage he has the win but also Miles could do the same. But if they were just fighting 1v1 in a contained area then I think Miles has the win but it’s all theoretical who knows who would actually win it’s just a fun idea to think about

Clearly insomniac really does care about Spider-Man as a character look at the first game. Great story, great character development able to flash out doc ock, they were even planning to have venom stock, Peter Parker, and have destructible environments but Sony rushed them before they could do any of that and I heard the third act was way different before Sony made them change it, and I do agree that Peter should have been more flushed out with the symbiote on him there’s really only two scenes where he’s a dickhead at Harry’s house and when he’s fighting miles and I guess Kraven

I agree with you for most of it, but the fridge thing rly shouldn't have been there. I didn't mind it in my first playthrough, but when I went back to watch the scene again after everyone complained about it I understood why they were so mad. I mean, peter sees the tendrils coming towards him, MJ jumps in front of it for some unknown reason, pete gets downed by a fridge after MJ softened the blow for him and he proceeds to stay there for 12 more seconds. They were on sumthin else when they wrote this one. but yeah eveything else is peak.

It's ridiculous to use guys like scorpion as examples of Kraven being strong enough to killed spider-man that fast. Spider-man handled scorpion and rhino at the same time. Also how didn't his spider sense warn him of the knife, this is the same spider-man we saw reacting to lightning in mid air while fighting vulture too. Like the whole idea that he wasn't nerfed a bit it ridiculous. I'm not a fool who's gonna act like heroes aren't going to have to fit the narrative. Example Flash not being fast enough sometimes. I just don't understand why we're acting like this never happened though.
It makes sense how Kraven killed Spider-Man but it is ridiculous. His spider sense is never consistent even in the first game. His main focus was the lightning in the first game in the second game he’s trying to defeat Sandman, his attention is focused elsewhere and also his spider sense shouldn’t even be able to counter it since danger is everywhere.

Personally my biggest disappointment with Spider-Man 2 (story wise) was screams death I feel like they could have done more with the character
Kraven is showen to have killed Scorpion, Vulture, Electro, Shocker and Peter. And when Peter is in Kraven’s mansion, if you observe the potions, he says “Maybe this is why he’s so FREAKISHLY STRONG”. I think it speaks volumes for Peter to say someone is freakishly strong. And Kraven is not just pure muscle, like Rhino.

So I'll state why I feel Peter was nerfed
1. The infamous fridge scene makes no sense when we've seen Sandman throw Miles and Peter clean through walls and they've been practically uninjured, they could definitely recover from a fridge falling on them even while fatigued
2. The Sandman fight is where I feel the nerf becomes the most apparent. There are points where Peter definitely has time to dodge Sandman's attacks and he doesn't even try to move, and the electricity repeatedly strikes him despite him later showing the spider arms are capable of holding the charge when Miles charges him up. In the first game, he was capable of dodging lightning from Electro using Spider Sense, he should have been able to dodge two lightning bolts. There's also when he falls into the sand and for some reason, doesn't try to pull himself out with his own webs, instead having Miles save him for whatever reason.
4. For some reason the Anti Venom Symbiote doesn't even put him on even ground with Venom even though the damn thing is literally the cure to Symbiotes. It seemed to be a negligible boost to Peter's fighting strength against Venom that Miles still somehow did marginally better with powers that aren't even meant to counter Symbiotes.
5. Peter needed help to remove the Symbiote from himself, while Miles was able to flat out reject it despite the fact he was dealing with his own father's loss just as much as Peter was with May. If miles could reject the Symbiote that quickly I would think Peter would notice that he's acting strangely much sooner and eventually remove it himself with no outside help.
I still think its a great game for what it is, but I have lot of issues with its writing, and the fact that they seem to be attempting to retire Peter in the entirely wrong way that goes against the core of his character. I have no problem with Miles being the main Spider Man, but the way they're going about doing it just is awful, as it goes against the whole "with great power comes great responsibility". Peter isn't the type to stop working his job as Spider Man just because someone else can be Spider Man. He still has the power, therefore he still has the responsibility. The way they could have made this work is if his work at Emily May Foundation was a new great power, thus leaving him with a bigger responsibility than being Spider Man but there is no dialogue implying that is how he feels. There's also a number of dialogues that imply Miles is a better Spider Man than Peter, which makes no sense, like "Why would the city need me when it has you?" and "redeeming your greatest enemy? Can't say I've done that." when he literally redeemed Tombstone. Now you could argue semantics with Tombstone not being a "greatest enemy", but you can't deny I do have a point.
There's also the fact that Peter also never once scolds Miles for letting his anger put innocent people on danger when he focuses all his attention on making sure Li doesn't escape. Peter shouldn't have to beg Miles to do his job and the game should have addressed that. Peter and Miles's costs for being Spider-Man are also annoyingly varied in number, as Miles has basically nothing close to the consequences Peter has for being Spider Man, while Peter straight up gets fired from his job, and Miles somehow doesn't lose any opportunities from being Spider-Man. No, his biggest issue is that he can't write a damn essay... And that someone assumed he was busy when he couldn't show up at something to due with his musical interests.
Peter was in no way nerfed in Marvel Spiderman 2 the dude was literally grieving and taking on more responsibility than he could handle at that. Peter was also injured when he fought Kraven as well
I honestly love Spider-Man 2, I played through it like 3 times, it’s a really pleasant game, I hate Pete’s character when he has the black suit but that’s part of the plot, he’s being a jerk to everyone, blaming Miles for his mistakes and stuff. That section of the game really ties it together because of how Miles sticks with him the whole time, trying to get him to snap out of it

Spider-man is known for not being invincible. It feels like people aren't mad that he was "nerfed" but more that he lost in general, even if the L was deserved. I get it, people don't like seeing their favorite characters lose, but there's a big difference between plot induced stupidity and losing because you lost. It's honestly sad that the more people like a character/franchise/IP, the more hateful they become when someone does something they don't like with it. The star wars fanbase is a *prime* example of this. You can't do anything unless it's something they approve of. Like you *need* their permission to be creative.

Fair but I feel we needed more clips of him talking with MJ and Harry or him reflecting on his actions. I just didn’t feel we had many personal conflicts and it should’ve been explored more.

Peter resorting to “kill Kraven” due to Kraven being the source of all his problems. Example: Indirectly getting him fired from the school, destroying his dream job, making him closer to losing May’s house, killing a lot of villains, destroyed “his city”, and also captured Miles. Also I think this is good for the Symbiote’s character as it wasn’t really evil (Except for when Knull kind of made it go crazy), it was only giving the host what they wanted (Example: “We gave you everything you ever wanted, and you threw us away!”) Overall, I just love this game and I think I got a bit carried away with talking about what I liked with the story.

Huh, I'm surprised they think Insomniac favors Miles over Peter. I thought it was pretty clearly the opposite, Peter feels like he's the main character in the story while Miles is just sorta his sidekick. Both of the main villains are very Peter-centric, Kraven doesn't feel like he was interested in hunting Spider-man 2.0 at all, and Venom/Harry obviously relates way more to Peter than Miles. Even Peter's supporting cast is more involved than MIle's, MJ is actively doing things in the story while Genke is just sorta relegated to tech dude behind the screen and Miles's mom is just sorta there sometimes. Even Peter's sidequests feel like they have a lot more weight and importance. Like, the Carnage fire cult people are, once again, more Peter's villains than anything else, and that whole questline feels like it's something where the city is being threatened. Miles's quests are way more "friendly neighborhood Spider-man" levels of helping out in the community. Which is totally fine, not every sidequest has to be big, but I think it is telling the ones with more weight are Peter-focused.
I think Peter overall also has way more character development outside of questing. Part of it is to build up Harry's character, but again, that just shows how Peter focused the story is since they're building up Harry to show why he's a big deal in Peter's life. Peter's personal life is also way more front and center than Miles. While they share the "uncertain future" plotlines, Peter's job hunt is covered in way more detail and gets multiple scenes throughout, while Miles's essay writing thing is largely just background dialogue. Like, with Peter we have a whole scene where he's walking through the lab, hearing about all these projects, being told why he'd be a great co-director (or whatever the official title is) and a series of sidequests relating to it. There's really no equivalent of that with Miles and his college writing essay subplot, which really felt tacked on and not like anything the writers cared about. There's also more "life of" scenes with Peter, like walking around May's house and going to Coney Island, while Miles only had a small sprinkling of those, and IMO, the Miles side felt more like filler while Peter's had more plot significance.
The biggest thing Miles had going for him was all the stuff with Mr. Negative. Which was fine, but let's not pretend it was anywhere near the level of the Peter plots, it got significantly less screen time than either the Venom or Kraven storylines. IMO, that's also why there's more scenes of Peter struggling compared to Miles, because the main character is always going to be the one who struggles the most in a story because they're the central point of conflict. Miles is getting beat up as much because, well, putting it bluntly, none of the villains really care about Miles enough to go after him. If I remember right, Kraven is even disappointed when they captured Miles and not Peter and just sorta uses him as entertainment. I took that as a sign that Kraven was straight up saying Miles wasn't worth his attention to fight directly. Oh, and in that moment where Miles is arguably wearing the main character pants, he also has his own moment where the plot allows him to get beat up so he can be captured.
To use another comic comparison, it felt like Miles was the robin to Peter's Batman. IMO, the Spider-man titles are meant to be more Peter centric, while the Miles spinoff is obviously meant to be his thing. And it felt like the ending of this game was setting up the next Miles game, where he'll get to jump from side character to full on main character again while Peter is away. But, again, even the end of the game, sequel bait stuff was super Peter focused, with the implication we'll get Green Goblin, and the return of Doc Ock, both of which are Peter-centric villains/characters and not really at all associated with Miles.
Being an unknown is also sort of a strength for Miles. I think a lot of his "strength" comes from the villains not really knowing/expecting him to be there, so they're caught off guard because his powerset is different from Peter's. I think to a lot of villains, Miles is kind of a "literal who" or, at best, "Spider-man Jr." so they think they can just use the same ol' tricks against Miles, only to be caught off guard by his lightning powers. This is kind of a thing in the comics, where Peter often ends up beating his villains because they don't expect him to science up new gadgets/webs/suits etc. so they're ultimately defeated because they were prepared for fighting a more "traditional" spider-man.

I love this game, but man I have a lot of issues with it. I do think because Peter is so old, and he's not faced a majority of his arch nemesis' in the past, it makes him feel super weak. And through a lot of the story, it rly did feel like they forgot about Spider-Sense, I mean in the first mission Peter is barely holding his own, he just watches as a massive sand arm slowly launches toward him and just takes it.
I've been planning on doing a breakdown on this game at some point, I'm mainly waiting to see what DLC releases. But a big point I have his how the dev of Miles Morales had to interrupt the dev of this game. Obviously to justify the cost of designing an entire new playable character, they made the spinoff. Which in my opinion, was poorly done but still fun.
Peter is only 25 how is that old?
@@spideyboy2358 I meant compared to a majority of versions of Peter who've already encountered they arch nemisis' when they were young. I'm not saying he never had Villains, but doc ock and venom only just showed up, and Goblin doesn't even exist yet.

In my opinion, this guys video is trash (I already saw it before I saw yours and I already thought it was not really good) but I feel like Peter was indeed nerfed
Like, he has been shown capable to handle 2v1 and in this game he's, somehow, tired ? He's like 25/26 and is supposed to have super good endurance, we're not talking about a normal athlete who can retire in their 30s, we're talking about a super hero who can fight with severe injuries (like broken ribs) and being like "too tired for this" at like, this age, especially since he's already got some break in Miles Morales, idk I feel like it's pushing Miles to be more important sooner
But I understand your opinion and I don't think the nerf was that bad, in fact I thought the character was nerfed in the first game, when sometimes I was like "is his spider-sense working ?"
But then I understood it was for the sake of the story and it's a different interpretation of the character, so why not
I mean he hasn’t slept since his Symbiote rampage so he’s fought Kraven, Miles, got knocked by Venom, and was dealing with a bunch of Symbiotes even in this game it’s confirmed he’s fatigued by Dr. Connor’s when he was asking him. He’s also mentally not in the right head space but I can see why people are still upset about this but I think anyone would be tired in that situation and not at 100% and it’s not like he even technically won against Rhino and Scorpion they just started arguing and that leads to them fighting each other and them getting locked into a container.
Yeah it’s weird his spider sense seems to be very inconsistent but I feel like that’s always been a thing with Spider-Man. Everyone can have there own opinions on this argument but it’s ultimately up to the writers also I have more points in my newest video if you wanna check it out
The bullshit about the fridge is pissing me off! Peter was pushed by venom full power to his fridge and the full weight of MJ as well. He hit the fridge knob with the back of his head, he fell with the fridge and the fridge knob hit his head again and his head bounced off the floor twice. I think that's enough reason for him to be knocked out after getting caught off guard.
