    Man, I commend you on this video. Probably the best detailed and explanation of exactly the steps you need to replace your starter. Love that you included the graphics showing which bolts and connectors you are removing in each step. Very well done!

    This video is great. I replaced my friends starter on his 2015 HA yesterday. What nobody mentions is how cramped everything is in there. The job seems simple but it can get real complicated real quick if you don't have the perfect tools for the job. Have a few good 10,12,13, and 14 mm sockets. Have a good ratchet both long and stubby, a breaker bar or extension, and a thin flat screwdriver. The CV shaft and the exhaust downpipe make the ratcheting harder so be careful. Most of all have some patience and time. You can do it but it might take longer than a shop would. Good luck!

      I just replaced my starter in my 2015 yesterday. This video was decent but don’t need to remove those extra brackets. And for space yah it’s tight, I ended up putting the wiring back on the replacement starter before I got it bolted in cause I didn’t have enough room to get my hands in to put the connector on. Took me about 2.5 hours cause I had to take it out twice cause of lack of space

    • @billjanke72
      @billjanke72 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@natefahy8401 I agree with you. It took me about just as long due to confined space. I now see why shops are charging $700-900.

    I also didn’t have to do step 1 and step 2.. those brackets and stuff do NOT need to be removed.. took me an hour to remove and replace with the car on jackstands
    Great video!

    Thank you for this video and the disassembly of the starter video.
    The suggestion of rubber band for the top bolt was great.
    Things tools that helped me with the removal and installation were
    1 Pittsburgh Automotive Serpentine Belt Tool Kit 63689 with a breaker bar ratchet attachment on the 1/2” end and a regular length 3/8” ratchet on the the end. It allows you more movement around the axle.
    The thing that tripped me up the most was the 12mm nut for the large wire connector. What really helped was taping the 12 mm nut in a 12mm deep socket. I ran duct taped around the side of the socket and edge of nut inserted in the socket. The used a razor blade to remove the tape from the mating surface of the nut. An hour of fumbling to success on my first attempt.

    Thanks you. I was able replace my starter after watching your video several times. It was really helpful. This is an excellent video even for a novice like me. One thing I noticed is the size of the bolts shown in the Step 1 (8 minutes into the video) is 10 mm (at least that's what I found on my vehicle) I had to use a #10 wrench because there was hardly any room to use ratchet socket.

    Ty for the video.
    Honda and their dealers knew about the problems in 2016 but did nothing to fixed it. No recall or not cover under warranty. They sent the dealers the fixes for the issue, but we have to pay for it. WTH even with a new starter from autozone is 300+. Most dealer want $900+. At least starter from autozone has lifetime warranty, but dealers is 2yr. I have a 1998 accord be4 this and its starter never went out. It was over 200k n over 16yrs old. My brother got a a 2015 accord too and it seem to have the same starter problems. Not going for anymore honda or even try out the acura. My inlaw has a 94 corolla and its starter still crank fine. Bought my 14 accord brand new the exl model almost $30k back in 2014. Damn starter went out its a dick to replace it only to find out it happened again. Still crank and not crank intermittently.

    I just replaced my starter in my 2015 accord. Video is good but don’t have to remove the air intake bracket or the one under the starter. Definitely having a powered ratchet for the bitten bolt would be of great use but hand tools can get it done. Also recommended trying to hook up the electrical connections before putting it in fully cause not a lot of space if you have big hands

    With Honda Accord 2013-16 with the 3.0L V6, you want to adjust the torque converter 1/8 of a turn (1 bolt). This only has to be done once; this is the main reason why their starters are failing after 40k miles. Just make sure it hasn't been adjusted before. There are videos on this.

      Jesse Biseko sorry to hear that! But I will say once i bought the replacement starter off eBay(with 2 year warranty) for $80 and had it installed, I’ve had ZERO problems since. Depending on your mechanic it shouldn’t cost more than $200 for the install. Avoid taking it to Honda cause they will charge you $1000 for this simple fix.
      Disregarding the starter it’s a great car and i haven’t had any other issues. You made a good buy. Honda is just greedy and would rather charge its customers who don’t know any better $1000 than fix their starter issues.

    Yep, the starter in these cars are junk. Honda has to be aware. Search online and see how many folks(including me) have starter issues

      Big Geno oh my goodness, I thought it was just me. My Civic 2014 only has 56k mile on it and starter is already dying out on me. It’s such a pain to get to places.

      I feel your pain. My starter went out around 58,xxx miles. Honda wanted $700-$900 to replace it. I looked on eBay and found one for $65. There is a company who rebuilds them and resales then. I put the rebuilt starter in in Nune if 2018. Had no problems until this month, Jan 2019. This starter is doing the same exact thing. Will not turn over in the first try. It starts the car in the 2nd or 3rd try. I contacted Honda and they act like they are unaware of the problem people are having with these starters. But yet if you look online, soo many others having exact prob. I will never buy another Honda again just for this reason. I think I will replace the starter once more and trade the car in in something else

      Big G - Did you just get "nothing" when trying to start the engine? My friend has a 2015 and says a few times he went to start his (good battery) and nothing happened, then the starter turned after a few trys.

    • @biggeno1205
      @biggeno1205 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly! Turn the key and nothing happens. No clicking or anything. As if the car has no power. My battery was brand . At first, it took 2-3 turns for the car to finally start. Then it went to 3-5 times. Sometimes inwould come out to start my car and it would crank in the first try. Well, I just traded it last week. Too cold outside to be dealing with that mess.

      I just bought 2014 honda accord two weeks ago, and yesterday my car started to act strange. I had to try 2 or 3 times until the car starts again.

    You only have to tell where did he is we know what it does we know it doesn't need lubrication and secondly once you remove the Ground Terminal no power can go anywhere out of the battery power has to travel in a circle do you know what a circle what do you know what a circle means no need to disconnect both terminals you're not replacing the battery

      The replacement for the starter to make it work you need to buy this:
      Holder Set, Brush - Honda (31210-5A2-A01)
      28.63$ from this Honda original parts website I’ve been ordering every time I needed something for my Honda’s.
