    That's not wood. That's Leather. like Cowboy boot sole leather. very dense, very stiff but you can sew it with a proper sewing machine.

    Just got mine in yesterday. I've got the bottom filled the way I want with the Spexlite heavy sand in the bottom. The Forester funnel and drop tube is great, by the way. The ears are giving me some trouble. I'm having trouble getting the walnut media (from Lyman) into the ears - it just doesn't "flow" as well. Have heard that mixing that with talcum power can help. Any tips from you on filling the ears? Have you tried the walnut mixed with talcum powder?
    Thanks for all the work you put in to providing such useful and valuable information to the all of us. Your expertise, candor, and vulnerability are all greatly appreciated.

      @@FClassJohn Got it all squared away. Sent Dima some pics from my first range session with it and he ended up posting them on his FB page a few days ago. Thought that was cool of him to do. I've enjoyed interacting with him - seems like a really good dude. Planning a proper build down the line and will certainly be going to him for the stock. Thanks again for the recommendation here and for the continued great content.Holler if you get to Nashville!

    I recently bought a Dima from a guy I shoot with. He must have gotten a few extra so I bought one and really like it. I use an Edgewood donut and lined the bottom of the donut with a piece of rubberized drawer liner. It really locks the whole thing in. Thanks for sharing John.

    Can you tell me way you ordered the Cordura vs Teflon. I have an Edgewood bag now and it has 3m Slick ears. I just got a Dima Stock and it is 3/4 so I need a new rear bag.

      I just prefer fabric over the 3m from a durability standpoint but even from that standpoint my current Dima bag with the 3m bottom is about 3 years old and still going strong. The way he makes them you really can't go wrong either way.

    I have a Anschutz 1913 with a U2 stock. what ear width would work best. It's shaped like a upside down tear drop looking from the end. It's about 1/2" at bottom then tapers up to 1 1/2" width about 1 1/2 up from bottom. Appreciate any advice.

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      .5" is about 12.7mm. He currently offers a 10mm and a 14mm so you're kind of in the middle. Personally I usually error on the side of tighter but 12.7mm to 14mm is a really small margin. I would recommend emailing them and asking as they know when to bump up or down on sizes to fit accordingly.

    What is the purpose of the donut?

    • @FClassJohn
      @FClassJohn  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It helps level out the bag on uneven ground plus because there's nothing in the middle it allows rear bags (as they get old and sag on the bottom) to sit level without causing any kind of rocking or such.
