- The Sopranos is a HBO crime drama which stars James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano, boss of the New Jersey Crime family, as he manoeuvres and navigates his way through mob life and family life. Throughout the series’ 6 season, Tony comes across many adversaries, many psychopathic individuals such as Ritchie April. There is perhaps no greater psychotic character in the show than the cunning Ralph Cifaretto, a captain in Tony’s own crew and one of the highest earners in the family.
In spite of his volatile nature, Ralph has emerged as a fan favourite character. He may be utterly despicable, but he is funny as hell, and many of the most comical scenes of the show are as a result of him and his shenanigans. He’s probably the closest The Sopranos got to having Joe Pesci on the show.
Played immaculately by Joe Pantoliano, of The Matrix and Memento fame, Ralph fully deserves his reputation as one of the best of the many colourful characters on the show, and stories, quotes and interviews over the years suggest that Pantoliano, also known as Joey Pants, enjoyed his time on the series and was loved by the cast.
However, it appears some bad blood had emerged towards the end of The Soprano’s run, long after Joey Pants had left the show.

I don't think Vince Curatola has been on either. Neither has director Tim Van Patten who was one of the main directors.
I don't understand why Drea has not been on "Talking Sopranos". People have said she has her own podcast but, so what? AJ and Meadow have their own podcast as well and they appeared on Talking Sopranos. Maybe her and Michael don't get along? Anyone know?

Ralph was hilarious and somewhat sympathetic in the end which made him livable, even despite killing Tracee and Jackie.

@@roguebritgravy1Apparently he is in poor health. It is alleged that he had a stroke or has alzheimer's. I saw some interviews from him within the last couple of years and in some he looked fine but in others he looked barely capable. Considering he is almost 80 i think it is for the best that he is left alone, even though I loved his role in the sopranos.

I don't care what Joe Pantoliano says, that was a really cool photo shoot. Not only did they get a bunch of the characters that had been killed, but they even had them in the costume they were wearing during their last scene. Super clever marketing, and it's a shame that Pantoliano was so upset about it
I still think he deserves claim to the characters use, even if it’s by HBO. He played Ralph brilliantly and brought the character to life, and if he thought that photoshoot was ghastly and didn’t want to be apart of it, then so be it.

But Joe does appreciate and understand the depth of the character, the characters sense of humor and how the characters obsession with gladiator relates to the themes of his death

I am a bit disappointed that Vince Curatola (Johnny Sack) wasn't included on the Talking Sopranos podcast either. I would absolutely love to hear about his experience on the show. (Not to mention what a key character he was!) Same goes for Joey Pants... he would have been a great guest on the podcast as well. Frustrating!

Joey Pants as Ralph is up there in the top 3 best characters on the show alongside Tony and Junior.

Along with Joe Pantoliano, Joe Gannascoli (Vito Spatafore ) did not appear on Talking Sopranos. Dre Matteo had a podcast where Michael Imperioli did appear. For some reason, Matteo did not reciprocate. Gannascoli did mention that he had a "falling out' with one of the actors when he left the show.

Reading the talking sopranos book, steve and michael mention an incident with joey pants on set during the "Christopher" episode. Apparently he pissed Steve off. Chris said what Joey P did wasn't cool. They go on to say he's a good person, but from the way they spoke about him in that portion of the book, it seemed clear they weren't close with him at all
They talked about that multiple times on the podcast and quite frankly Steve needs to get over it but he harbors grudges from 30 years ago because he’s an ass hat

My favorite pantoliano moment was on Conan years ago he was talking about not wanting to get killed off in the fugitive in case there’s a sequel. And Harrison ford pulls him aside and says “ there won’t be a sequel cause I won’t do one!” And joe says. “ so what we’ll pay some other 20 million dollar asshole to chase thru the woods…” I wish I could find that interview somewhere.

@@philiptaylor8223 Even if Steve dislikes any of them, I don't think even he, with all his motherfucking, would say it on the podcast. I mean, bad-mouthing another actor from the show would be pretty antithetical to the whole purpose of the podcast. Sure, you could argue that they're being dishonest or misleading by not disclosing their real feelings about some of the cast, but ultimately, airing dirty laundry on the podcast would just lead to negative press and ultimately a small stain on the Sopranos legacy.

Repeat guests and Michael and Steve look and sound like they just want to get it over with. (The Many Saints of Newark sucks)
I agree that the repeat guests has been kind of annoying. But I don't think Michael and Steve are just phoning it in. Sure, they don't always talk about the most interesting things or spend as much time talking about certain scenes as I'd maybe prefer, but I still find their banter, insights, and chemistry to be worthwhile. It'll be sad to see the podcast end

In case you might have missed this: She has her own Soprano’s podcast together with Chris Kushner called ‘Made Women’. Michael Imperioli was a guest on there. I haven’t listened to that many of the episodes, but the one with Michael was pretty good.

It’s really stupid that they never got Drea, Joey Pants, Joe G, or Vince Curatola on the podcast. But they have Alec Baldwin and Stevie “ya know” Van Zandt on 3 times?! Gimme a break. That podcast is overrated. The reviews of season 6B were embarrassing.

I listened to all of the Talking Sopranos episodes and they never have a bad word ti say about “Joey Pants”. However, always wondered why he wasn’t on the show.
You forgot Johnny 'Sack' Sacramoni played by Vincent Curatola. He was in the first season and was in at least thirty episodes or more.
To my knowledge, the brilliant Vincent Curatola (Johnny Sack) has also not appeared on “Talking Sopranos.” A major omission.
He did an episode. It was excellent too, he's a really interesting dude.
