For anyone wondering why the applause audio cuts out when music is being played, the band played the Sopranos theme in the studio to introduce the cast members but they don't have the rights for it on TH-cam so they dubbed over it with some stock music.
Although this looks like the Sopranos cast members were appearing on the Letterman show stage in New York (at the corner of Broadway and 53rd Street in uptown Manhattan), this bit was likely recorded at one of the Sopranos locations where the cast was already located. They then did the bit in front of a green screen, so they could later, in post-production, appear to be delivering their lines "on stage." There was no audience and sound and applause were added later. It was nicely done, though.

I didn't know James, but went to school with and was very good friends with the girl he dated and was engaged to be married with (back in the early 2000's), and there was way more to it than that. Us mortals really have no idea what it's like to reach that level of fame, so until if and when you have that experience, you shouldn't throw your critique on it. Do you post "he deserved what he got" on John Belushi vids as well?
Like it’s crazy I’m 23 years old and got to see the whole series last year and rewatching it again but man I swear every time I see a certain movie I would think dang he would of been perfect for that role or even a side character in this other movie like not going to lie I would of love to see him play a general in a Star Wars film
I never fully appreciated the depth Gandolfini's brilliance in the Tony Soprano role until I saw him in interviews and other roles. It was then I realized how far away from the character he truly is. He has nothing in common with Tony, not a single mannerism. He built a very believable character out of thin air, and doing such a transformation for years without anything ever feeling false or insincere is truly a staggering achievement.

It’s a fun and fabulous bit! Thank goodness it was filmed while the cast was intact, which is no longer the case, I’m sorry to say. And thank goodness we can watch it over and over on TH-cam.

For my 60th, my wife had purchased me the entire DVD set. I couldn't imagine a more personal and thoughtful gift. Seeing the entire cast together, ( which no one but Dave could do) brought tears and sadly the passing of James and Tony. HBO's greatest achievement of all time. ☆☆☆☆👏👏👏👏

I had the pleasure of meeting Michael Imperioli in Santa Barbara at an art auction event in early June 2013. I said a quick hello and told Michael that I had just watched the "Pine Barrens" episode. He smiled and said "that was a good one". Fun night. Mr. Gandolfini died two weeks later on June 19th (my birthday).
I kept thinking they over-dubbed it into this video because they couldn't get rights to use whatever original music was on the Letterman broadcast. It seems odd that you can;t hear the audience applauding until the music cue ends each time.

He was a superb actor,I'm just glad they gave him the opportunity to really flex his muscles (no pun intended,lol) as a actor and he got to enjoy at least a bit of the good life before he died,some people are like that and i can relate,you get a check in the mail you weren't expecting and 3 days later you car engine blows up, never fails.

You ever have any issues wit the DVDs? man i did,specially season 6, several were bad, a buddy of mine, his mom had died and she had the series so he just gave me season 6 as a gift since he wasn't interested in this show,it was also bad, then i bought ANOTHER copy on ebay, bad also,just gave up on it,lol. I have probably 500 DVDs and that series was the worst in quality,maybe i just had bad luck.

James Gandolfini had so much to give us as fans. He was taken far to soon.
I liked him too, but he was a heavy smoker, heavy drinker, and just plain heavy. He was pretty much asking to be taken sooner than later, Mike.

You ever have any issues wit the DVDs? man i did,specially season 6, several were bad, a buddy of mine, his mom had died and she had the series so he just gave me season 6 as a gift since he wasn't interested in this show,it was also bad, then i bought ANOTHER copy on ebay, bad also,just gave up on it,lol.
I have probably 500 DVDs and that series was the worst in quality,maybe i just had bad luck.
Ah I fondly remember when late night network TV was worth watching. Those days, long gone, long gone.
I've used the "Sopranos" theme before in something and Sony claimed ownership, so I get it. (Even though I'm pretty sure Sony isn't the rightsholder).
