I used this method to get my starter relay to work after loosing it along with headlight and passing lamps. This fixed 50% of my problem and I am glad I watched. Definately not a silly process and thanks for the video and solution.
Good job, Rick. One of my pet peeves is people who "get'r done." and don't take the time to do quality work. Can't tell you the number of popular car models (Camaro, Mustang, etc) where I've had to go in and clean up some hack job of a "repair" or "upgrade." I have one rule and one question when it comes to doing any job. Rule : Be prepared to do the job as though you gave a sh--- crap about it OR *don't start the job!* Question : Why is there never enough time to do the job correctly and completely the first time but always enough time to do it again? And, for those who are curious, I have fired people for "get'r done" type work because most customers appreciate quality work and have no objection to paying what it costs to do a quality job.
I have a dark red metallic 1985 Yamaha Vmax 1200 with 11K original miles. Looks brand new. Production number 2131 and I do everything on it myself from changing the tires to changing the fluids and doing all the electronic work I do the best that I can I never rush anything that I am doing and I always have the parts before I start my work with the help of three workshop manuals and buying the right tools I get shit done and done right. The couple grand in tools is a lot less than the many thousands it would cost at a dealership!!
This is an outstanding cleaner: DeoxIT 5% Spray Contact Cleaner . You could spray into the sockets for an instant oxidation removal then add your dialectic grease coated fuses.
Hey Rick, I've used these on several stubborn hard to reach fuses in my car and it has helped. On Amazon, Jonard Tools FP-600, Fuse Puller with Cushion Grip, 5" Length

Basically its relabeled contact cleaner.. Just get the non flammable stuff if your a big pussy.. Thanks Rick Yeah.. fuse is a fuse as long as you match numbers.. no worries. We swap them around all the time. Or as a local fire department "tech" told me once as their truck sat on the side of the road on fire.. "Fuses? We don't need no stinking fuses!!" Guess we got to buy them a new truck through that recently passed "extors.. I mean Levy..
You could spray electrowash cleaner in there, to blast dirt away. Its like brake kleen for circuit boards. If you really wanted go crazy, you could spray gold contact spray in there. Its a electrical contact cleaner infused with gold particles. Honestly what you already did is probably good enough, just throwing a suggestion out there.
Who sells the electrowash ? I need to do a Major cleaning behind my relays and fuses. I was told by Thunder-Max to replace my system relay, but didn't help,my Harley still will not start.
Did not think about lubricant on fuses And make sense On home electrical panels and on the water pump that I work we are supposed to put grease because the contraction and expansion I guess is the same to small loads Interesante

This is my "goto" for higher Current Applications [100A +]. Not needed but just so you know. Process is more of a PITA, but effective. Don't recall product name.
