Great info. Also on ECM updates on your computer, they do not check automatically (dumb), cost 65 bucks each time WELL WORTH IT!! My bike and a buddies were checked for us by awesome McDermotts HD, Lake George, both bikes missing multiple updates, after which both bikes ran incredibly better!! Ride safe.
I can across a couple in Iowa. The lady's bike was completely dead. No lights, would not do anything. They called HOG they could not get anyone to come out. I asked did you check fuses he said no. I pulled out the main fuse and it was ok. Put it back in and it must of rebooted the computer. Ran all the lights came on, ran. Off they went. Lucky
You can also put your bike into the diagnostic mode and just clear the codes (lots of TH-cam videos on this trick). Another way is to pull the main fuse out for about 5 minutes, and it too will reset your ECM fault codes.
Yes there’s many who show you how to clear codes. Bad thing about that is if you take it to the dealer now they have no codes to diagnose what happened and what is needed. This is much easier than pulling a fuse. Ride safe my friend

They don’t occur that often. Thank goodness. You have to ask your dealer to perform them since many don’t do them automatically. This can be due to customers using other tuners and it can mess with that tune. So just ask your service manager. Ride safe my friend
I am missing my old bike more and more with all this crazy crap. My old bike was a 14 SGS. It ran like a scolded dog. Not one problem the whole time I owned it. Thanks mail lady for turning left on me while I was passing you. You took away baby.
Thanks for subscribing and welcome to the nation. It’s was an issue where the throttle body has a sensor that loses what speed the bike is and the ecm shuts off the bike. Just make sure your dealer has done all the rest updates to the ecm and you won’t have an issue. Harley did the update last summer. Ride safe my friend
I have the Vance & Hines Fuelpak and I loaded a new map to accomadate the Hi-Ouput Slip-Ons (also Vance & Hines) Does resseting the ECM also clears the new map?
That process resets the TGS to "0" - See: TT380A- October 16, 2008 - High Idle Complaints on 2008 Touring Models and later. "It is a necessary procedure anytime you replace ECM, TGS or Reflash the calibration to cycle the Ignition switch 4 times, waiting 10 full seconds after keying off between cycles, to relearn zero TGS position. Failure to do this may result in decreased throttle sensitivity." One way to avoid this is to allow the Motorcycle to go to a complete idle prior to turning it off on 2008 and later Models.
There is an easier way to reset the ECM and find the fault code that caused the problem 1) with the bike off push and hold the trigger switch top back left switch control above left grip. Turn on bike it will show diagnostic in display push /release switch it will show fault code. Check website for code if not important ( low tire pressure) push and hold switch until it reads clear. All done.
That clears the codes which you don’t want to do if you’re taking it to a dealer. If the code has an H behind it. That means it’s history and the bike isn’t currently having the issue. If there is a C behind the code it means it’s a current issue. If you clear the codes a mechanic has no idea what is happening with your bike. This doesn’t reset the ecm just the service codes. Ride safe my friend
Will this also work for limp mode? I just got the new 2024 Road Glide. I dropped her while practicing and had no idea what the hell happened! This is my first bagger, so I had no idea!

Hello Road Rush. I got a question about this. I'm getting a code on my ECM saying I have a bad oil pressure sensor. I changed it and still get the error code. I checked everything mechanical and confirmed it's the ECM. I have a 2017 SG and my display doesn't do a wipe out of the tach and speedo unless I hold the trip button while turning the bike on. Does this reset process work on pre GTS models?
Even if you just wanting to do this to your bike just to do it to update the ecm will it hurt doing this anyways to my bike or do I have to wait for their to be a problem with my bike
Did you ever find out what caused your bike to go into limp mode? My new '23 RK (2months old) has gone into limp mode twice in less than 200 miles. Dealer doesn't know what is wrong with it and gives it back to me...they need to have the bike as the issue is happening happening.
Mine just needed an update. But for the 23s there’s a few out there with a completely bad ECM I would ask your dealer to try and replace it. Ride safe my friend.
Does anyone know if doing this will mess with your Dyno Jet tune? We installed a cam and did a tune through DynoJet but I do not have a module attached to the bike. I bought a DynoJet license for the bike and my mech did everything with his equipment. If I do this, will it erase the tune that's in the bike? I'm new to Harleys. Well, new to new Harleys.
If you have a stage 1 with a tuner and do this. It will reset to default and you will need a re tune. That’s what I had to do. If you have your tuner Harley will re tune for 111.90 out the door.
If you want to check codes what you need to do is have the kill switch on then push in the trip reset button hold it in while turning the ignition switch to on. Then copy any codes that will show and you can then look them up

sorry to have totell you this but , it is illegal to reset or alter the odometer on a motor vehicle to change the mileage under United States federal law. This is considered odometer fraud, which is a federal crime under Title 49 U.S. Code 32703. Enjoy your bike. ride Safe my Friend!
You don’t clear the codes. That’s different than resetting the ecm. This doesn’t clear the codes. The codes will be there for the tech to read and see why the ecm had an issue.
@bryancardenas-qs4ig it’s completely rideable. This is how I got my bike to the dealership to have them address the issue I was having. It’s like resetting your computer. It doesn’t necessarily fix the issue but it takes the settings back to a default that lets it run.
yup - don't change your own oil people- take it to the dealer... bend over then beg them to at least CHECK if there are updates. Thendrive away and the bike will run worse. I mean- what could go wrong?
You can reset any vehicles computers by disconnecting the positive and negatives and touching them together for 10 minutes. Then just reconnect them back to the battery. It causes all the residual power from the chips to drain causing the computers memory to empty and it starts from a factory setting
Does Harley Davidson have a permanent solution to fixing that problem that gurontee your bike won't shut off. If not then screaming eagle needs to make one that stays in the on position when you are in traffic and is guronteed never to cut off the ignition. That is actually a safety hazard and they need to fix this problem otherwise I ain't ever buying a new Harley. I will buy a Honda gold wing instead.
You're right! I just had to replace my pump, regulator and filter and it only had 83,400 miles on it. They just don't make Harleys the way they used to. (and Thank God for it!!)🤣
Go out and find an old tuner that is pre2020 before the EPA threatened to fine v&h, and Harley. We need to start underground tuners. Harley engineers are all subject to bend at the waist to the Obama and California epa

Special Note: During the Password Learning procedure the ignition will remain in the "On" position for an extended period of time (30+ minutes). While "On", power is supplied to the headlight thus draining the battery. If the battery charge drops below a certain level during the Password Learn procedure the process will cease and you will have to start over. To avoid this connect a trickle charger to the battery throughout the procedure.
Download the Password Learn procedure in PDF for printing.

Would a 2008 Electra glide have a ECM?
Yes it does. Ride safe my friend
Is it the same manoeuvre on an older 2006 Roadking. ? I've stalled with mine.
I just rebuilt my Fat boy new pistons new everything how do I reset the odemtor to 0
Do I need a new computer
sorry to have totell you this but , it is illegal to reset or alter the odometer on a motor vehicle to change the mileage under United States federal law. This is considered odometer fraud, which is a federal crime under Title 49 U.S. Code 32703. Enjoy your bike. ride Safe my Friend!
@@RoadRushNation even if you have proof that you rebuilt from scratch?
Yup. Doesn’t matter. Thats still a no go.
Maybe this works for you, but what about a 2005 Ultra? Hmmm.
But this did fix my code problem.
If u unplug battery, will that do it?
Yes but why go through the hassle of removing the seat when this is all you need to do. Ride safe my friend
Isn’t that bad if u clear it it just popped up on my bike and idk if I should take It to get fixed like how serious is the emc
You don’t clear the codes. That’s different than resetting the ecm. This doesn’t clear the codes. The codes will be there for the tech to read and see why the ecm had an issue.
@@RoadRushNation just a question is it drivable when the ecm comes on I’m taking to get serviced soon but was wondering never had the issue
I mean- what could go wrong?
tks.
You’re welcome. Thanks for watching. Ride safe my friend
You can reset any vehicles computers by disconnecting the positive and negatives and touching them together for 10 minutes. Then just reconnect them back to the battery.
It causes all the residual power from the chips to drain causing the computers memory to empty and it starts from a factory setting
Does this work on older bikes 14 years old
Man I really hope i never have ecu problems on my 97
😂
I can do the same in my 2017 Sportster Forty-Eight???
Will that reset the pin code?
No your PIN code will stay. Ride safe my friend
How do I change the pin code on 2016 Harley road glide
I have a video on resetting your Pin How to reset your Pin number on your Harley

@@RoadRushNation well now my fob isn't working. Do I need to reset the fob? How? Thanks
It goes straight to pin mode. LMK thanks again
@sarahmillsap-p2u a new battery should fix the fob problem. Ride safe my friend
Can I reset my fob?
Does that work on a 2001 FXDLR
Yes it should

Glad I can help. Ride safe my friend
Time to buy old bikes
Does Harley Davidson have a permanent solution to fixing that problem that gurontee your bike won't shut off. If not then screaming eagle needs to make one that stays in the on position when you are in traffic and is guronteed never to cut off the ignition. That is actually a safety hazard and they need to fix this problem otherwise I ain't ever buying a new Harley. I will buy a Honda gold wing instead.
Yes they released an update last summer but this is not for the 23s or 24s. That was just released beginning of Feb. Ride safe my friend
@@RoadRushNation ok
Harley doesn't have a solution for fixing anything
After months of yanking my hair out. On my 08 electraglide
with harley its not a matter of if but when you'll have an issue
That is true of EVERY piece of equipment.
You're right! I just had to replace my pump, regulator and filter and it only had 83,400 miles on it. They just don't make Harleys the way they used to. (and Thank God for it!!)🤣
we don’t need the ladies (ecm) to turn us the story sad ❤️
Iv got efi 09 sportster 1200 I will never own another efi bike
So where's the video that what happened to your bike on your Florida trip
get to th point
Exactly
Go out and find an old tuner that is pre2020 before the EPA threatened to fine v&h, and Harley. We need to start underground tuners. Harley engineers are all subject to bend at the waist to the Obama and California epa
Info starts at 3 mins 15 sec
Harley should do better, these 40k plus bikes with all these issues is just ridiculous!!!
Name one new item that’s controlled by a computer that doesn’t have its problems.
Not just HD. Be real.
@@chazzcapone. ummm my ford f250 155k miles zero issues (ECM/bcm/tcm controlled) lol ummm my 21 CVO limited also ECM/BCM controlled.
But if you’re cool with the issues after dropping $40-50k. They have a thing that’s called Research and Development Technology Division where they are supposed to test these things, yeah a hiccup with a few is expected but a constant problem where an update or new amp… etc etc.. is needed is ridiculous. That should not be happening with so many bikes.
Yes indeed! My fuel pump, filter and regulator all needed replaced and it only had 83,400 miles on it. I'm so disappointed.....🤪
Being a slave to the dealership is not the answer.
Or tell Harley to shove it and get an older model.
or tell Harley to shove it and get an Indian... my 2006 Nightrain WILL be my last Harley. They do NOT deserve our loyalty- they NEVER earned it.
No sound
Just checked and the sound is working. Check on the screen if the you have the sound clicked off. Ride safe my friend
Jesus get on with it!!!!
Newer?….as it what year did this start? ..All models?
Harley is disappointing me more and more…..time to buy something else?
I can't here you.
Check your sound settings

Why? Its a Harley,, just trade it in on a good bike.
Name one item that isn’t controlled by a computer in the modern era. All of them have their share of computer glitches. All of them.
Wtf
How to reset your ECU on a Harley-Davidson soak it in toilet water overnight and the next day it'll rip you a new ass hole lol
I’ve done the radio updates on my 2020 road glide but found , searched, heard of nothing to update the ECM ? Is this a new thing for the newer bike ?
I can’t read my ECU through power vision
Does that work on a 2007 Sportster XL1200 Low
