Even as a non-beginner this is such a useful refresher and reference - thank you 🙏. There are so many techniques we do forget to use some of them!! I like using torn narrow masking tape for reserving silver birch trunks if you are doing a forest; there is also your fabulous bokeh effect with a stencil brush. Supergood 👏👍
Thanks so much Chris! I know what you mean about forgetting... I do to!! Thanks for sharing about the torn masking fluid! Really useful tip! Great for silver birch trees! Love the bokeh effect too!
Hola Karen una pregunta puedo hacer estas misma técnicas de pintura con acrílicos?
Karen, I’ll say this, I have several artists I adore, but one HUGE difference with your video is SPECIFIC DETAILS you need to know. For instance, using antibacterial hand gel to protect your brush from liquid masking/frisket. No one has ever suggested this in my years of watercolor painting! Or specific times/wetness for starting a successful cauliflower. And though I’ve discovered a lot of things through trial and error, these details and so many more would’ve been wonderful at the beginning. 😊 There is definitely value in trial and error. Those “Ah-ha!” moments are priceless to growth, as well. ❤
Thank you so much. I’m so pleased that you found the details in this tutorial helpful. And I totally agree trial and error and just practising. Watercolour really does build confidence and knowledge in the medium 💕
A very old but new beginning painter. There are so many tips and tricks for a cluttered mind to remember…this practice is so practical, dare I say simple?!?!. All in one place, very much how I like things, only way for me to find them!. From the bottom of this well used heart, thank you so much!!, please continue to simplify my life.🙏🏼♥️
I’m so glad you found this helpful, especially having all the tips and techniques in one place for you to reference from time to time. Thank you 😊
Thank you for going over such tips & methods at a slow pace.
I’m a beginner and having you go slow, step by step helps a great deal. ❤
You are so welcome!
This was a great tutorial for beginners. I am going to make 2 sets of 8 and make notes below each one because I think what you say is as important as what you show.
Great idea!
So glad it was helpful! That sounds like a great idea as well, thank you so much for sharing. 😊
Don’t forget the cling film technique and the alcohol or bleach spray! Also the twig! The sponge! You are awesome !
Thank you for your suggestions! Love them all 😊
Wow! I've just discovered your channel. I've been taking several classes, but I've learned more in the first 7 techniques than in all of the classes I've taken. This is just what I needed. So glad I found you. Thank you.
I’m so pleased you found this helpful 😊
I'm 45, been painting for......forever, and even I love watching these beginner tutorials and still do them myself! Theyre just fun!
Wonderful!

Thank you Karen for the wonderful skills and techniques.
You are so welcome!
ty!!! been learning from at least as many artist's different techniques in a jumble of videos & let's say, overwhelment & frustration had me collecting tools rather than using them... maybe its the wrong brush-paint-paper... have a lovely stash, lots of practice pieces & not much that looks or feels like progress... Steps 1 - 16 ALL IN ONE PLACE, HALLELUJAH!! no more rifling thru multiple journals for notes ii can't find... Thank you... going forward, imma sticking to yr channel, unsubbing from all the rest except for a unique topic or mixed media deliberate mashup. This is BRILLIANT, ty!!
I’m so pleased that you found this tutorial helpful, especially having all the techniques in one place. 💕
Thank you, its really useful for me as i am a very beginner...please make more vedios for beginners❤

Glad it was helpful!
Awesome idea ❤
Thank you! 😊
Thank you👍😊 Can you please, also tell me when can I use the different technics?
Use observation. Does your painting need hard or soft edges? A soft transition, like in shadows? More visual texture, like bark? Etc. Look at the technique sampler, and decide what you need and where. She is showing how to achieve those techniques..
Great review, thanks!
Thanks for watching 😊
Very good information! ❤

Karen did you buy the pans from Ken Bromley for your empty tin?
Yes I purchased the empty tin and empty pans from Ken Bromley and filled them with tubed paints.
