THIS is by far the best air roll video out there. Watch the first one, but the concept of rolling the stick in the same clock direction as your air roll made it all click. Massive improvement
I'm also a c3 player, and my control over air roll right is likely similar to yours, but I can't believe how much understanding you have of what you are actually doing. I knew I was rolling my joystick around , but I never really thought about why I was doing it. I was impressed with your first video on this topic too. When I first figured out air roll, I had no clue what was happening.
I can't wait for your eventual tutorial on how to go back to doing aerials without air roll.
It helps me learn from my mistakes better to try to understand the underlying reason behind why some things work and others don’t, so I devote a lot of time to figuring that stuff out. That’s why I’m happy to be sharing what I learn :)
Can you share more what you mean by your video suggestion? Reducing over-air-rolling is a topic I want to cover at some point (after I get better at it haha), but I’m not sure that’s what you mean.
Most clear explanation on yt.
The rolling adjustment tip was incredible. I’m D1/D2 and only had enough control to get by in free play but couldn’t hit shots. That and the other tips will definitely help a ton. Great video!
Life saver bro, better than any other tut maker on youtube especially cuz ur a fellow air roll right user lol
Bro I appreciate this. I just started practicing an hour ago but I’m already seeing improvement. It’s gonna be a while but I think this will make me better
Absolutely knocked this one out of the park, even without music or flashy animations. I subbed to you from your comment on SpookLukes video (maybe you saw my reply) and I'm so happy I subbed, I intend to make my own tutorial content some day soon and you've set a fantastic example for me on how to execute. Bravo!
Same. This TH-camr is the next pro
So good thanks mate
Really helped me learn the concepts of air roll and how to use it in game. Thanks bro keep making more rocket league videos because i sure will love them and os will many others
BRO NEEDS MORE LOVE 🗣
Love your car design btw
Thanks! I love the skin.
Damn. Super helpful
Subbing with bell for those follow up videos. Great job.
As someone who hit gc 3 years ago and then stopped playing the game, this reminded me of how much fun and satisfying it was to continually improve my aerial control
Hello Joshua! Here is a platinum 3 whose air roll is similar to the one you had in the previous video. I want to take the next step and learn to be like this current video.
Like you, I spend a lot of time understanding what's going on in detail and also develop step-by-step workouts to acquire muscle memory.
I am not a content creator for networks, but I have managed to correctly teach the people I could with my (poor) techniques.
My problem is that I still haven't found the right way to develop a step-by-step process to gain control of the car like in this video.
I would love to try to teach you my learning method, maybe you could implement it to teach us this more advanced way of flying.
If you agree, I will immediately get to work to see how I can get the information to you in detail, maybe we could talk on Discord, do a live stream on Twitch or I could make a video on TH-cam. I send you a huge greeting from Argentina.
PS: Sorry for my bad English.
This video and your older one are so helpful thanks a ton. I just began learning air rolls so it’s really difficult rn lol. Do you have recommended camera settings? Cuz every video I watch is different so I’m not sure what to use.
I'm glad to hear my videos have been helping! Camera settings are subjective, to an extent. You want them to be close enough to be able to make precise contact with the ball. My current camera settings are: FOV 110, Distance 270, Height 110, Angle -5.
I have small hands and roll my thumbs so that it presses B and A when appropriate to speed Arial. Its not too tough either
So what is the best way to learn this mechanic? There’s so many different ways on TH-cam but what’s the most efficient way to learn
I’m still having trouble understanding rolling adjustments, maybe because im on KBM?
Great tutorial! How would you recommend improving air roll? I know how to turn left or right with small adjustments but I've never thought about making circles or semicircles with the joystick. Would you recommend just doing it randomly until it clicks? Or focus doing semicircles on each cuadrant of the joystick to kind of learn how it works? Thanks a lot!
Good question! I think it’s probably best to stick to rings maps at that point and work on going through the map faster and faster until you’re forced to make more aggressive movements. When you hit that point and likely fail (since you wouldn’t have been ready for it), run it back but with the intention of doing the rolling adjustment. Again, you can start a rolling adjustment in any part of your air roll. As long as the first direction you press is correct, rolling should work more or less automatically.
You’ll also notice that as you do rings maps faster, you start stringing adjustments together such that they themselves are a sort of rolling adjustment. It was that realization that let me intentionally do rolling adjustments on hard turns to the point that I don’t even have to think about that anymore.
I hope that answered your question, but if not please let me know!
@@StrongJoshua Hello! after practicing a lot doing these semi circle movements I think I've improved a lot! I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. Do you think it's necessary to learn or practice semi circle movements as well but clockwise instead? Also, do you have any tips for instead of going up to the ball, going down to it? I feel I can easily gain altitude with air roll but doing the opposite is quite difficult. Thanks a lot once again :)
@@alejitom20051 No I don't think it's worthwhile to practice the other direction for rolling adjustments. Since all you need to do for a sharp turn is get the initial direction right, and then roll, you already have every possible angle accounted for. If you find something useful in practicing the other direction though, please do let me know!
As for flying intentionally downward, that's something I'm not that good at yet either honestly. You'll get better at it naturally just by thinking about recovering quickly when you play (like intentionally boosting towards the ground to land faster), but I do recommend the obstacle course workshop maps Speed Jump Trials and Speed Jump Boost by DMC if you want to intentionally put yourself into awkward scenarios.
What’s the car preset the color is so nice
It's actually a preset color that comes with the decal called Ultraheat. Just happened to see it in the shop a few months ago.
Thanks for the explanation is there any chance that I could have help in game?
I don't have the time to do coaching, but I'm happy to answer any question you might have.
@@StrongJoshuai dont understand the rolling adjustment to the ground i tried to do it and my nose just keeps straight
@@TakeNotes2 Your nose just keeps straight how? If you upload a video of you trying it maybe I can give some advice.
@@StrongJoshua like i mean im in neutral nose up and it just goes down a little then stops
@@StrongJoshua dw tho i found the problem you use air roll right i use left
I can now fly throw rings with only Stick up, should i now practise Stick down when i finish That Stick Left…… or directly all 3 other Stick sites Yk so directly Stick down Left and Right
Good question! I find up and down on the stick to be the most intuitive in general. I don’t think you should necessarily practice only using stick down/left/right/whatever, rather you should start incorporating new directions as you see the opportunities.
For example, if you’re flying up to a ring and are not in the correct part of your rotation to use Stick Up, trying pressing the direction that you *think* is the correct one for that rotation. If you get it wrong, which you probably will, before trying again pause and reflect on where you lost control and try to recreate the scenario in your mind, and figure out which direction would have been correct. Then try to get into that scenario again and test out what you figured out. From there you’ll either have gotten it right, and can continue until you hit another scenario where you mess up, or you’ll have gotten it wrong and need to rethink which angle would have been right.
This sort of iteration will let you incrementally improve naturally.
@@StrongJoshuaYe ty i Beat After 2 days the ice rings map what you did too in 22 min, i think i Go on airdribbles and learning More in other rings map
@@StrongJoshuaBut in Matches i cant Control it Bec in Need to Look on My car That i can Control But in Matches i Need to Look on Ball, you have any tips or do i Need to practise More That its Go by its Self if i Spend More time
@@bianco6k yeah that’s part of the layers of training I mention when talking about why ball control is so difficult. Like I said in the video, it is something you’ll just have to keep trying. Congrats on beating ice rings though!
@@StrongJoshua I have another question, so far I only steer with the stick when the car is pointing towards me or away from me, do you also steer when the car is to the side or only like me?
Is there any secret to doing flip resets to stall your car?
Do you mean doing a stall, which is when you start a directional air roll one way and flip the other at the exact same time to cancel your flip and stop your vertical momentum?
@@StrongJoshua Yeah, could you explain how that works or make a video on it?
@@diehardprogaming that’s more of a freestyler technique and not something I’ve really practiced. Have you checked out other TH-camrs’ explanations and they weren’t good enough?
@@StrongJoshua I seen a lot of videos, not found anything that fully explains it.
To answer your question, there isn’t a “secret” to doing stall resets. It’s just where you go under the ball and stall.
But what air roll gives you? What is the difference? Is it worth to learn this mechanic?
Good question! The basic idea is that it lets you preserve momentum through your movements, so corrections can happen immediately, and that you can move on 3 axes of rotation at once rather than just 2 with normal air roll. So yes, I think it is worth learning.
Maybe I‘ll make a short video explaining this with some visuals…
