It's not about straight line, what differentiates the F1 car is its ability to take a bend at 150 mph.
I mean, yeah, but it also helps that it can get to nearly 200 mph in under 6 seconds. The game was decided by it teleporting down the final straightaway
Its the weight and the traction differentiate those cars. Even if the other car have same hp. They cant take corner at much higher speed and accelerating faster than the f1 car.
@@mohammadhaziq2318 and the crazy amount of downforce the F1 car generates.
@@toddballinger yeahh n because of aerodynamics design and lower central gravity makes it all happen.
The biggest difference is the braking.
thats it, I'm convinced now. I'll buy myself an F1 car, the AMG is not fast enough for me.

@justsomeguy Do you even know what the Doppler effect is?
Red Bull is a great ambassador for F1. They do some amazing things with their cars
@Eddie Sloan lmfao shut up man
@Eddie Sloan they're not forcing anyone to buy their drinks LMFAO. They just made a great business and made a name for themselves so they are able to sell their drinks for that much profit. Why would you sell your product for less if the demand is the same for a higher price. And if you think it's a 'rip off', then just dont buy it. If people want spend their money on it thats their own choice.
@Eddie Sloan getting educated can also do miracles. You should try it
@Eddie Sloan i love red bull, but ill never understand how they convince the public that 8oz of redbull should cost the same as almost EVERY other energy drink brands 16oz
They're imaginative but in this very case they just copied something Ferrari did several years before.
Check out the end of the video. It's much more impressive viewed from the top.

Wow! Hats off to whoever calculated the timing of the car starts to get an ending like that!
each car probably did a few laps to get the time needed to complete a lap then used the difference to calculate the offset of each car's starting time.
Its not really that difficult, every car fits in a certain class
@@thirdjaruda4202 yeah it would only take like 3-5 laps each to figure out the average laptime then just use the difference as the head starts the "math" (if you can call it that) would literally take 1 second
I used to race in a motorcycle organization that would have a race like this. Any bikes but your start times were based on your best race lap of the day. Sometimes someone did some bad math, but sometimes there would be some close finishes.
@@JoshuaTootell yeah that is the simplest way to calculate it, and fastest racers start last, everyone starts 1 by 1, based on the time gap between their best laps

The difference between the C63 and the V8 Supercar is smaller than the difference between the F1 car and the V8. F1 is just on a whole other level of engineering.
Most of the difference, it's in aerodinamics, and traction, the f1, being that short in height, can take the turns a lot faster.

F1 is superior in every thing, from engine to cooling, weight, balance, aerodynamics, attitude, brakes

i know what you mean and agree 100%.
i was there in Abu Dhabi in 2013 to watch one of the last ever races of the V8 era.
the ear plugs were a must if you wanted to make sure you went home without permanent damage to your hearing, or temporary aching in your head.
subsequently i've attended 2 races in the V6 turbo hybrid era (Shanghai '15 and Abu Dhabi again in '17). it just doesn't compare.
I was lucky to attend a couple of F1 races in Long Beach, CA in the early 80s... Talk about loud!!!
it's like Mercedes, Toro Rosso and Williams racing this year (2019)

Give the C63 some credit, The Williams isn't THAT fast.
Even the Williams is not 20s slower per lap... Maybe 5-10s but it would still be faster than the other cars that were shown here

It’s pretty much the same in 2020 except the merc would somehow find a way to lap the other cars
*Claire Williams has left the chat*
If they did this in the USA and replaced the V8 Supercar with a NASCAR, the NASCAR would probable have to leave the start line before the C63.
***** Pure speed, nascar is better, but it's too heavy in the corners...
Wub-0-Tronic F1 top speed = 233mph
NASCAR top speed = 217mph
Consider the fact that the F1 car was designed to produce enough down force to go around corners.
"unofficially" the F1 top speed is 257mph when BAR set the car up to produce enough down force to stop it leaving the ground
It's all about corning speed. F1 cornering speeds. Unless it's banked NASCAR don't turn worth a crap.
They turn left ok.....its the right handers they struggle with......a V8 supercar would leave it for dead.

“race” car vs RACE car vs THE RACE CAR
Nobody called C63 a race car, so don't know what you're talking about.
F1 are the best race cars made, these things outpace anything else.
Problem if you want entertaining races, it's too fast to really fight and the regulations on top of it, which don't allow it either.

Here's a comparison for you. As far as I'm aware, a the V8 Supercar track record around Australia's legendary Mount Panorama circuit in Bathurst is somewhere around the 2.04 mark. But in 2011 Jenson Button went for a tool around the mountain, quite gently, and did it in 1.48.
It's also worth noting that the Vettel's pole time in 2011 in the RB7 was 2.5 seconds slower than Lewis Hamilton's pole time in the Mercedes in 2018. 1.21.5
The result is hardly surprising, but it's nice to see it demonstrated so dramatically.

It is one of the most successfull cars ever made, considering F1 changes cars every year.
How many other teams have managed to even finish 2nd in constructor standings? much less do it without having a perfect year. :P
So yeah not that many... RB10 can be classified as one of the most successfull, not the most but one of them.
@@Otakahunt derp. the car is an rb7 not an rb10. Also finishing 2nd in the championship would put at least 69 other cars ahead of it (the 69 constructors championship winners) and probably a few of the 2nd place cars too (any car that scored more than 3 wins in the season), so the rb10 is definitely not "one of the most successful" - but the rb7 could be.
JAYMEZ Yes, it is. 4 Straight championships back to back. I know they weren't all RB7's tho, but the designs were quite similar, right until 2014 when the V6 Eco Saver crap came into existence.
@@KLEBESTIFTglue "69 other cars ahead of it" what about behind it? the number doesnt matter... the ratio does when you speak of "one of the most successfull".
If theres 69 cars ahead and 20 behind then its at the bottom, but if theres 69 cars ahead and 500+ behind then its clearly at the top and can be considered as one of the most successfull.

And to think that they are still heavily limited by rules. Last year the Nürburgring lap record was smashed by the Porsche 919 Evo Tribute, a heavily modified LMP1 Hybrid that was made to show what a Le Mans car could do if there weren't any imposed limitations - it was several seconds faster than F1 cars at the time. Now the record belongs to F1 again and they didn't even break their limitations. I'd love to see what they could do with the cars without any restrictions.

This is so cool. Nothing on this planet comperes to a F1 car. They are so insanely fast. Always have been the apex of motor racng.
I saw this done once with a Street Bike .vs Super Bike .vs Indy Car .vs F1 Car. I think it was in the 90's. It was epic and finished in reverse order of start just like this race. Being a fat American, I wasn't as familiar with F1 back then; it blew my mind to see it catch up to the Indy Car and blow right by it like it did.
By the 90's, IndyCars were just kit cars, as they are now, and no real comparison with F1 cars. In the 60's, when F1 cars first came to Indy, the Indy Cars were at least competitive, faster on the straights, but slower in the corners, when compared to F1. The F1 car was still faster and higher tech, but the IndyCars were at least in the same ball park, and were more durable over 500 miles. In the late 50's, Indy Cars raced and beat F1 cars at Monza, and around the same time Rodger Ward, in a midget, beat the top Le Mans type sports cars in a road race at Lime Rock Park. There was a time when Indy Cars were top level race cars, but it hasn't been that way for decades. I love IndyCar, but compared to F1, the cars are cheap junk. They had to take the cheap route to survive, or they would have gone the way of CanAm. The money just doesn't exist in US racing for it to be any other way.
Best with no commentary.
40 seconds faster in a 2 minute lap is insane
I FUKING MISS THAT SOUND!!!!
I recall an old version (probably made in 1999 or 2000) of this type of comparison
th-cam.com/video/6uuwbRPWnWU/w-d-xo.html
The F1 driver is sitting at a table while the other two cars take off one at a time, then dons his helmet, gets in the F1, and catches up to the other two cars. The cars were Mercedes A160, Mercedes E50, Mercedes F1 Jordan 198, (1998 F1 car, but the video was probably made in 1999 or 2000).
Actually was looking for that very video.
@rcgldr Do you have a link to that video :D ?
That was actually David Coulthard too..
Edit: th-cam.com/video/uGxjTfAghcU/w-d-xo.html is the vid I was thinking of, quality is disgusting. The last scene gives you chills.
I remember seeing a documentary about when they first took the Shelby Cobra racing, the drivers would come in for completely pointless pitstops just to give the other cars a chance to catch up.
One like you described was Niki Lauda sitting at a table drinking coffee while the street car took off, and looking for his helmet and gloves when the GT car pulled off the line. Niki was ThE man in the early 90's
The sounds heard low in video, but the reality it's very loud
Mick Doohan was a world champion motorcycle racer. He's used to having a whole field of superbikes behind him chomping at his heels without any rear view mirrors.
RB7 1:41.287... this weekend Hamilton qualified in 1:20.486. Even considering Hamilton is a 5-time World Champion and Coulthard is... well, Coulthard, that goes to show how much F1 cars have evolved in the last 8 years.
No, this run is very slow for the F1 hence the comment I made above. Seb did a 1:23.529 in 2011 with the same car. The result of these things is always doctored, they probably didn't want to make the other two cars look ridiculously slow.
@@NippyMoto Well, more than 3 seconds of improvement is still a great engineering feat, considering all the environmental restrictions these new cars have...
Y'all can't actually be serious, right? Comparing a quali hot lap with a standing start lap where the RB7 is sitting on the grid for a minute, so it has stone cold tyres and has basically no grip getting away from the grid. No driver in that RB7 would have gone much faster than this, it's just not how F1 cars work.
@@charles-antoinemartel-roy it was absolutely calculated, they probably had Coulthard do a certain average speed and same with the other drivers. The same thing happened during the F1 car vs Superbike vs V8 race they did, all three came side by side on the final straight.
For races, the cars are on blanketed tyres, and then they remove the tyre blankets 5 minute till race start when the crew leaves the track. What also matters alot is the track temperature, Australia isn't really a cold place, the track would've warmed up the tyres well enough about halfway through the run if the car was pushed as fast as a quali outlap or even a parade lap.
Just shows you how fast F1 cars are just crazy 🤯
The F1 car is so tiny next to a regular car ❤️ but damn is it fast!
What a race!!! Who ever did the math where they would all meet up awesome 👍 👌
Yeah, you let each car drive a lap and you are done with the math. Prolly some kind of Stephen Hawking who made that possible.
This would have been interesting if they picked a really quick road supercar. That merc is powerful and fast but it isn't the pinnacle of what road cars can do
Niki Lauda did this 35 years ago - I have the VHS tape, I think it is called “Niki Lauda Explains F1Racing” or similar - used his McLaren vs a Porsche vs a Ford as I recall. He sat in pits and drank tea for a while, then fired up the McLaren and ate the other 2 on the final stretch!
The f1 car did not use DRS at the DRS zones
For those who dont know DRS in F1 started around 2010-2011
he was ALSO never within 1 second of the car ahead of him... :) thus he rightly never was able to use it, also DRS is never active on a lap where there is a race start. But i get what you were saying, he could have gone like 0.5 secs faster.
@@DaFifaKid you know DRS can be activate in certain fast zones in hot laps. FIA regulate the use of DRS in a race or pole position in certain "DRS zones", but this isn't a F1 race... he could use the DRS whatever he want

Great show and race!!!!!!!!! I would love to see a new similar race with some fast electric cars that are coming out now?????? Thanks for the upload.
Very very nice event. It clearly just show's how much those F1 and Supercar's can punch down. I think those event's should be shown also more around the world to get people to grasp what really is going on in the world of racing. Think about how this would be in Monaco or Dubai as an event before the race. It is something which will fill the ranks. Especially when they hear this monster of a V8 V10 or V12 F1 going around the course to catch them. Today they only race V6 but those real F1 car's is what had drawn the crowds and I think we should bring them back to a certain degree even like a F1 race between 3 Generations of F1 from V8 over V10/V12 and the today's V6 so we can see how far each generation of F1 already have gotten.
“One of the fastest road car you can buy” 😂😂😂
Dank Meemees 😂
Keep in mind that this was in 2014, and they said one of the fastest, not THE fastest. They aren’t going to put a +$1,000,000 hypercar on the track. They are trying to show you that even a $200,000 (at the time) road car STILL loses to an F1 car with a MASSIVE head start.
Pvpi banks if you don’t think an AMG C63 is fast you know shit all
@@tywilkins2584 in 2014 you could've probably bought like 10 sports cars in the same price region (give or take 20 or so grand) that would've been faster. Sure it has a big engine but Mercs drive like tanks. They showed their point but that Merc is definitely not even close to being the fastest road car in its price class, so the point is it's pretty damn silly to say that. But they drive what the sponsors tell them to, of course.

There was a similar comparison made between a typical hot road car, a pro stock drag car and a top fuel drag car in a quarter mile -- the relative performance difference is unreal. They had to reduce the length of drag strips from quarter mile to 1000 feet and they're still easily hitting 300mph. Current times for 1000 feet are less than 3.7 seconds.
0:58 - Mike Doohan 5x MotoGP champ, before MotoGP even existed apparently!?
MotoGP used to be known as the 500cc Grand Prix Motorcycle Championship, but it's the same racing sanctions and racing foundations. It's been existence since the 1940s but then in the early 2000s it changed its name to MotoGP.
