I work on Ideals all the time so rather than just think flame detection probe I now know how to test it as well, great video thanks Allen and thank you Ideal man!
great info and well made detailed video👍my particular problem to solve L2 fault was that the trap needed a good clean out to get it working smoothly again so i've booked a full service with the engineer to also clean the probe
Thanks very much to take the time out of your life and providing such a informative knowledge...where if in real world case scenario...i got nothing else other than calling technical team...which i will not be able to due to the weekend and scratching my head.
Hi Allen Just passed my first ACS yesterday and big thanks to you for talking the time and effort to make these videos., they have really helped me with my study work over the last year.👍
Hi Allen.. Great videos... thanks for taking the time to film, edit and post. Just a request to do a Flexicom strip down if you can. Specifically removal of the main heat exchanger. Thanks once again.
great video i fit Ideal boilers maybe 8 -10 a year, the reason i dont fit many boilers is because i dont like fault finding because i dont know how to do it, therefore i miss out on the chance of getting the job to install a new one. thought it was explained very clearly and will try it out on my next service. many thanks Allen and Ideal engineer.
Brilliant vid that mate. Only really work on Baxi and Vaillant at my place so good good to get a few pointers on other manufacturers appliances massive thanks to the ideal engineer for sharing 👍
Hi Alan!very good and extremely helpful video.would be helpful as well if you can make a video about pump testing .like a good pump or week pump .thanks
Brilliant video, one of my mentors showed me this a couple months back, the Fluke 116 is the one for us gas engineers/trainees as it does the micro amps. I have to say mate I'm super pleased you're coming up with ways to share more knowledge not just your own but others too. Very selfless and constructive! Keep it up and many thanks!
Will this cause the vibration noise on SL on a heat only boiler. Having a nightmare with one just now. Changed everything and still get load vibration. It blows the flame out and then goes through start up again?
Thank you Allen and to the engineer, Would be nice if you can make a video on intermittent fault L2 What's the main issue, because when you are at the boiler everything fine.
Allen, super video. Have seen a number of Logic Heat 15s which leak from the flow pipe 22mm compression fitting, would this be better as a soldered fitting or is this just over tightening?
Is the silicon tube on most gas valves a compensation tube or does it move a diaphragm to close the valve. Baxi duotec needs a neg pressure on tube to open the valve are some just to compensate and get true mixture
Does anyone know why it is volts on the way from the board and micro amps on return. I thought it should be 10 or 12 volts dc /micro-volts dc ?? Thanks for uploading Allen. 👍🏼
I tried this, there was a massive gas explosion. I think it's because I used matches. Maybe I should of used a torch. I've not received any training. I guess you could say, I'm gas unsafe, unregistered.
Hi mate my friends boiler has a f2 fault he is a gas engineer but dose not fault find boilers His boiler somethines fires up and works for 10 mins then cuts out f2 fault But has started not really working at all now constant f2 fault any ideas / tips to try. We have checked gas coming to boiler and when it tries to fire up gas seems to pull and like I say works occasionally so we don't think gas valve
If it’s around 8 year old plus, the boiler runs but just randomly goes to F2 whilst running, my guess by your description is you have a faulty pcb board, but I would need a bit More info to properly diagnose.
@@kevincranfield5235 thanks for the reply I traced it down to the spark generator in the end sometimes it would produce a big enough spark to work sometimes it wouldn't. Thanks for the reply though appreciate it
If a boiler has a flame loss message then you reset it then it makes a kettling and banging noise and seems to work ok when the noise goes away But then it eventually goes to A lockout message is it safe to keep resetting it? It will come on but then go back out later on is it safe to keep resetting or no? Please help currently sitting in freezing cold!!????

Nice one mate thanks 👍
Hi Allen,
Great videos and well explained.
Could you do a video on how to change a PRV on Ideal system boiler?
Thanks
@@canonlensesandcameras4425 Good idea. Thanks.
My home boiler keep on showing F2 every few months or so workers came out fixed it repair parts flush the boiler but the problem keep on happening.

You’ll only knock the carbon off a probe with a file Tom👍
Extremely informative video, for me it has cleared up lots of the mystery of how a flame detector works, and how to test it is working. Great job!!!!!
Thank you very much Alan really appreciate the time you spend on the videos it helps new plumbers to do a correct job
Wanted to thank you as trainee gas engineer, for very helpful videos. Much appreciated Mr Allen
Great to hear!
Great video this, just used this video step by step to diagnose a faulty flame detection probe. Every day is a school day

Tanx for the upload always enjoy fault finding videos plz do some more.
More to come!
@@AllenHart999 topman👍
Excellent, this is the way to tested
The worst fault is the intermittent L2 and nothing mentioned about that on this video.
That's great Allen Heart Followed you to the T, All works thanks to your demonstration , guidance and explanation. Thank you Sir 🤲😁
Another quality video you’ve put out there Allen, you know the people in the right places 👌
Lovin the fault finding side of things 👍

What's the main issue, because when you are at the boiler everything fine.
If it’s the older style logic 2009 - 2015, it’s probably a fault on the pcb

Great video, thank you for your experience and full explanation..
Approximately how much would this cost to repair please? We have this problem and are in the process of getting a quote from a plumber.
Do you have a video of ideal esprit eco2 or other equivalent boiler...? Good videos...thank you

It is a compensation tube, however depending on the type of valve, it does slightly different things.
Thank you for taking the time to watch this video.
Thank you so much
You're most welcome
Allen, how do you clean the ionization sensor
? Thanks for the answer!
I’d use a file mate. Wire wool or wire brush is farting at thunder!!!
Real quality video

Hi Allen! Want ask you one question: in high-rise building need install blow off in radiators or not?
No if in London.
Cap it off!

The flame changes volts from ac to dc
well done
Ideal boiler takes 2 times to ignite for hot water would it be electrode/flame rectification
